Location on the water was beautiful. The pool had a gorgeous view, though it was small. The hotel was very nice. I will admit to seeing something that looked like a small cockroach and non-oceanview rooms don't have views that are worth much of anything. Very good location.

Front desk is nice when you check in, any help from that point you have to beg for. Valet is available and the front desk says it is required. They did not indicate or post that the valet is a charge. Once we questioned the charge for the valet they told us that street parking is available. Looks like a bit of a scam to me. Make sure you have them include the breakfast in the cost of the room and verify when they try to charge you for it anyhow. The food is fine, but 19.00 for fruit and pastries is a bit high. Once we told them that the b-fast was supposed to be included they cleared the charge right away. Again, trying to scam a little more out of you. The area is nice and plenty of great food all in walking distance at much lower prices.

Rooms are nice with a good view. Food just OK but there was plenty. Don't bother with valet parking. The place across the street is cheaper and easier.

Great location. The hotel is nice overall, however, the morning restaurant staff was not the best. I went down for breakfast at 9:40 & was informed by the hostess that I only had 20 minutes so it would be better to get food to go. There were 3 more people behind me who were all told the same thing. The server never greeted me or offered anything to drink. Very poor customer service. Eat some where else.

Didn't know you could not self park here. You have to valet park; which costs extra. Originally they put us on the 3rd floor with a view of the pool and the river. Unfortunately they were re-paving the pool area. There were men walking back and forth outside our window. They moved us to the 8th floor with a "city view. " There wasn't much to see from that room. Plus it took us from a king bed to 2 queens.

As a silver level member, I am extremely disappointed with with this location! Over the years I have watched the Hilton Brand decline. I was loyal to the brand, however, as a result of poor customer service and room decor I was pleasantly welcomed by the excellence of the Marriott brand. As it relates to this hotel, the apathy of the front desk manager Tremaine Jarvius and front desk clerk, Monique, they were the cause of my election to secure a check in with a Marriott brand hotel. My issue was an early check in, they stated no rooms were available until 3pm, without compromising a few guest, they validated this wasn’t the case. Dishonesty at best. This hotel isn’t my preference, however, this is the vendor the LA State Ethics Board uses. I am lobbying for a change of lodging location. Based on previous stays, some rooms are in need of updating, to include carpet cleaning. I called and left a voice message with the General Manager, as of this writing I have yet to receive a return call. This certainly speaks volumes and makes sense. To my fellow travelers to Baton Rouge, I would advise shopping around before SETTLING with the property.

Historic hotel building, well renovated. Good bar with 5-7 happy hr, had local baton rouge beer called canes, with the seafood chips, both excellent recommendations by the bar maid. The views of the Mississippi River from the room make fr a beautiful view. Located right next to the boardwalk, perfect for a nice morning or evening walk.

Called on three separate days to speak with the sales manager about blocking off rooms for my wedding. She was unavailable each time and they took down my info. Zero return calls. Oh well, we'll be staying across the street at the Watermark.

Service is AWFUL. We had a convention of 700 members stay here for the weekend. Our room had no towels, toliet paper and housekeeping was MIA. We requested these items more than 3 times in 24 hours and were not taken care of. The front desk attendant claimed she could not leave her station and was the only one in the hotel at the time which I knew was a lie. Also, when they did finally find someone from housekeeping their shift was over and the next group would not be in until later. The best part of the weekend was the check out and the food which was provided for us but I will NEVER under any circumstances stay at the poorly managed property. To top it off the manager was not present nor made themselves avaliable to us. If it wasn't for friends I would not have been able to clean myself which was embarrassing. Lies and more lies from this staff made my experience horrible. Then the bathtub had pubic hair in it which was even more appalling.

Property is in a nice location. My husband rated a three stars but hot water is very important to me I would have given it a 2 star. So cold showers when we arrived. TV was not working and the coffee pot had problems. Just changed over from Marriott so hopefully this is a one off.

This is definitely one of my favorite Hilton's to go to! It has all the ease of staying at a Hilton. The decor is local and has a lot of character. You are also placed in the heart of downtown. You will not at all be disappointed in this location. It is a little pricey but it is worth every penny. I also recommend using the valet as this will make parking in the area a complete breeze.

Superior front desk staff on Feb 23rd at 6pm. Valet needs some training in customer friendliness. Clean hotel, room was great, view good, breakfast in restaurant and verbal communication between Elizabeth and supervisor which should never happen. Food mediocre at best. Hotel is great if the other areas could improve. Desk staff exceptional in the AM on the 24th also.

Nice but older hotel. Staff are friendly. Hotel is located near restaurants and local attractions. Only 4 stars because they only have valet parking.

I stay here for conferences and work. I find it is a little pricey for a regular stay, but it is a historic building. Staff is usually friendly. There are a few panhandlers around which can be expected for a downtown area. They usually leave you alone after they pester you the first time. You can valet park or self park in the big lot next door. Overall a nice place to stay.

This hotel does not have free parking available to its guests. Your options are either valet or public parking across the street. Alternatively, you will be told you can take the risk of parking on the side street. There is a chance you may get a ticket if you do this. The Wi-Fi was down for about 20 hours of my stay, and very slow when it was available. For some reason a valve was turned off in my room, preventing me from getting any heat until I complained about it. Workers are very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are clean and kept tidy while you're away. There is a gym with some free weights available. Swimming pool also, but the pool is closed for renovations until spring 2018

We held a planning meeting at the Capitol Center, and everything was smooth and pleasant. The meeting room was exactly what we needed; the service was friendly and appropriately attentive. We needed to get out of the office and focus, and this location worked well.

The Wi-Fi was not functioning properly for most of my three night stay. The bathrooms don't have locks and the hallway smelled pretty terrible for 2 of the nights. The beds were comfortable and the staff was wonderfully helpful and friendly. The rating would have been lower, but the staff did everything they could.

A good place to spend much time with friends or family.

Close to some good places to eat. We got a king room. The room was nice but it felt small. Room service could have been a little more polite when "reminding us of check out time" three hours before check out.

We stayed this year overnight in room 910. There was a beautiful view of the Mississippi from our window. There are a lot of downtown attractions within walking distance.

As a diamond level guest, I expected a room with some space, but what I got was a tiny room, with an even smaller bathroom! The shower was very small, and the valve was behind the door, so one gets a cold shower whenever one wants to take a shower. Very strange! The view was dramatic, it faced a construction area.

Beautiful historic hotel located right in the heart of downtown. Easy walk from there to the river, to multiple restaurants and bars, museums and casinos. Comfortable and quiet room. Freshly made French toast for breakfast was awesome.

So convenient if you need to get to the airport with frequent shuttle bus. Friendly staff and they kindly upgraded my room for me. Room interior and amenities were excellent.

The staff is very friendly and the services were exceptional. Everything was taken care of for us and we will be staying here again when we are in town. The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, more attention to detail (but I am professional cleaner so my standards may differ from others)

Nice clean rooms. Was charged twice for my stay. No comp breakfast. Valet parking $22 per night. Would do better to stay at another Hilton property.

It was very clean. The Staff was Very Respectful, All Smiles on their faces. Knowledge of their jobs. I would recommend this property on Lafayette Street.

Room is nice, a bit old but nice. Breakfast is excellent! Only parking that's available is a valet you've got to pay for every time you want to park or hope you find a good spot.

Not Friendly at all, bells man didn't speak or ask to help me with my bags. I'm a Hiltons honor member, Elizabeth at the front desk rushed me to check in after me mentioning that I would like my stay to be credited to my honors club account. She forgot and said it was too late. I asked for the honors club number so I could do It myself and she quickly tried to give me reasoning why she forgot!? The elevator will take your arm off if you are not careful. Disappointed to say the least. I also wasn't made aware of any amenities the hotel had to offer. Management needs to fire everyone in here.

Hotel was very clean and nicely decorated. Check in was quick and flawless. The hotel is compatible with the digital keys. In room Wi-Fi is slow by today's standards and the room AC was set very low.

House keeping didn't make it to my floor until 6pm the first night. The next day we had to switch rooms because the hot water didn't work. The fish dish that we ordered wasn't properly thawed. House keeping didn't come at all this day. Requested fresh towels from the front desk, no one ever brought them.

Had food stains on our bed skirt on arrival. Took two hours for housekeeping to come with a new bed skirt. Then, they handed it to us, expecting us to replace it. The front desk manager was great, though, and she helped us try to put the new skirt on. However, it was the wrong size for the bed. Other than that, the breakfast buffet was pretty good, and it came with our room. Pool was nice, not too busy. Valet only parking, but they're pretty quick to retrieve the car. Close to much of downtown.

Attended a multi-year High School reunion event. Ballroom was clean, spacious and a great venue for the event. We had a buffet style meal. The food and service were great. Everything was wonderful.

To our surprise, our King bed room was upgraded to the riverside view. That was nice! However, the room was quite small. The bed was very firm with squishy down pillows, leaving us with hurt backs and necks. The only parking was valet $20/day.

The hotel was mediocre but tries to act like a high end, 5 star establishment, with all of the expense and none of the service. They charge you for everything. Parking will cost you $20 per night, even basic plain coffee will cost you 3 bucks. I'm surprised they don't put a coin slot on water fountain. Even the low end budget motels put out free coffee. This place really misses the point of a service based business. I won't be going back. I would rather go to the Hampton Inn down the street. At least they know how to treat people.

Most motels have free wi=first. Not this one and it drains my phone battery so I can't do my work. I'm here for several days for a convention and you have to pay for Everything. Television has only 3 or 4 channels of news without paying for. Only valet parking and it's $22.00 a night! No complimentary breakfast either. I'm on a fixed income and I will Not be staying here again. Staff is great. Very friendly and kind! Thank you staff.

Overall great experience! Nice room that had been recently renovated. We enjoyed having a view of the river. The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable which made for a very good night's sleep. Walking distance to museum, dining, parks. We had breakfast nearby at Christina's, so good we went twice.

Lovely historic hotel in a nice part of downtown. Oddly shaped halls but otherwise lovely.

Extremely convenient location near many restaurants and office buildings nearby. The staff were very courteous and helpful. Free shuttle to the airport and truly delicious (but not free) breakfast buffet topped off the experience.

Beautiful hotel. Valet services available. Room we got was a little small and the bathroom door handles fell off. Bar area and lobby were great. We called down for a shower chair, but never got one. Overall pleasant experience.

Many of my coworkers and I stayed for a work event. The room was clean and comfortable, and every employee I interacted with was very nice and professional. However, I did have some issues. The other guests in my hallway were quite loud — — in fact, the people staying next to me kept trying to open the connecting door between our rooms and yelling at one another (they were drunk). Everyone was quiet by 11pm (this was a weeknight), but by 3 or 4 am, there were people in the hallway knocking on doors and giggling loudly. You can hear EVERYTHING through the walls/doors, even regular conversations in the room next door. Even with the fan on in my room and a noise-cancelling app on my phone by the bed, it was impossible to sleep. We stayed across the street at Hotel Indigo last time, and I didn't hear anything from any other rooms — — no talking, no flushing toilets/showers, etc. I don't blame the hotel staff at all for my issues, and I don't think there is anything they could have done about it if I'd said something. The people were not so obnoxious that I felt I should complain because most of the time, it was just normal conversation in the other room/hallway that happened to carry due to the structure of the building/doors. Yes, it's a hotel and many people stay here, but I would like to get a few hours of undisturbed sleep when I've driven 3 hours and attended a conference all day.

Friendly service and personnel. Clean rooms, bathrooms starting to look a bit dated, but historic looking building. Very nice stay.

The Hilton/Capitol Center is located walking distance from several great restaurants and it's right on the river. If you go, you must try and get the river view rooms, other wise you will be looking at parking garages. The service is great, people are nice and it is easily accessible from I 10/110.

Awesome breakfast, love the robes, and the room is very nice. However my cable didn't work in the room and there is no free Wi-Fi.

Stayed here as a guest for a wedding and it was great. The beds were comfortable and rooms had plenty of space.

Very good. Everything was great. No bath robes was a bit odd though.

I booked a room two days ahead oh new wars and was excited because I got the last balcony. When I came to check in they did not have my reservation. Whoever took my call and information dos not book the room and forgot to. Luckily there was a queen left but the hotel offered nothing for their screw up even after calling the front desk and asking. I will not be staying in a Hampton and certainly will not ever book a hotel over the phone.

Rubbish bin had not been emptied from previous guests. Hot water did not work. Engineering had to be called… 20 minutes to make the hot water heat up. Said the room I was in had that problem when the hotel had low vacency. Staff there were not of the usual Hilton standard. I would stay there again due to location but my expectations are a lot lower.

Hotel it self is nice but spending $247 a night is too expensive because it has alot of street noise that kept me awake and not to mention the slamming of the executive lounge ' door during breakfast… very small room and shower for the price.

We called in January to block rooms for my daughter's July wedding. The rate quoted was not given to some of our guests — they were charged higher rates. We requested a cart at checkout so that we could transport our luggage and other belongings. When the bellman brought the cart to the room, he told us he could not leave it and we had to load our belongings at that exact moment because they were busy. We rushed to get the rest of our belongings together and loaded on the cart. In doing so, we failed to grab my bottle of perfume. It was an expensive brand and I had just received it as a birthday present. I called the hotel immediately when I got home and realized that we had forgotten the bottle and I explained the situation to the front desk. I was told I would receive a call from housekeeping in a few minutes. After an hour I called again and spoke to a housekeeping supervisor was slightly rude and who told me she would ask the staff if they found the perfume and then call me back in about 5 minutes. After almost another whole hour, I called back and spoke to a front desk supervisor who also told me he would investigate and have someone in housekeeping call me back within the next few minutes. It has now been almost 12 hours and I've yet to hear from anyone at the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! The lack of courtesy, honesty and poor communication skills is not what I expected from Hilton.

Poor customer service. Negligence lead to the hotel being evacuated because a valet hit a sprinkler system (from what I was told an hour after sitting outside with no way to get up to my room — even though the front desk told me I could go up to my room with the strobe lights going off and the extremely loud smoke alarm. ) Things happen, that's life. How you treat your patrons while your own negligence caused a problem for 100s of people becomes the character and quality of your business. I've been a Hilton patron for years. I stay at a Hilton hotel at least 2 times a year if not more, but the way this situation was handled and the way I was treated — I will never stay in another Hilton the rest of my life, least of all this one.

I was just expecting so much more. Eeehh. Very small rooms. Executive lounge experience is bleak. Hope you aren't hungry. Beds are crazy comfortable. Staff is really trying to be helpful though. It's not their fault this place is just ok. Most of the staff is very kind although yesterday I called to ask for towels for our group of 4. We only had enough for 3 and the woman who answered told me she needed the dirty ones first. When I explained that we only had enough for 3 people and that we had 4 guests she said "ok" and hung up on me. We never got any towels yesterday.

I don't think I could say enough nice things about the staff that helped me surprise my wife who was in town on a business trip. I'm horrible with remembering their names the front desk, the room service and the bar helped facilitate everything. My wife and I are not the cheese and wine type but some fruit and a Jager bomb and we're set. So in my rambling I would like to say "THANK YOU ALL" for everything and hope to visit this beautiful hotel on the next trip.

Kingfish grill: nice space. Pretty empty when we came. The menu was very different from what was posted on their website. The items we were interested in weren't available anymore, and the prices on the other items had changed. A 12 Oz Ribeye on the online menu was 21.95, in restaurant it was a 10 Oz for 26.95. Despite the empty restaurant service was spotty. Our order arrived slightly wrong, mixed up our drinks, etc.

Never wrote a review in my life but for this I will. This is the worst hotel in history. I've been around the world, London, Saudi, etc. I have seen some bad service. But at least they didn't rip me off. They have charged my card an additional $375.43 for some stupid excuse they cameup with. The manager was extra rude when I tried to discuss the issue with him and Hilton customer service never even replied to ANY of my emails. I guess that's how they made their money after all. DO NOT EVER EVER stay there, there are plenty of hotels across the street from it. Just go there.

This hotel is great. Been to Baton Rouge plenty of times first time ever staying here. Was impressed with hotel and downtown was livelier than I thought. Hotel and area exceeded my expectations. Nice rooms.

It's a shame the rooms here aren't up to speed with the typical Hilton chain. The age of the rooms is very apparent with the lack of typical amenities (mini fridge, closet space, open area). As a long time diamond member it was not a pleasant place to stay in terms of actually living there. That said, outside of the rooms, all of the public/common areas are phenomenal. There is an excellent fitness center, an open work station, a great bar/restaurant, and to top it off, it's right on the Mississippi which makes for lovely sunsets at night that are a minute walk away. Hilton, please step in and bring the rooms up to par with even your Hampton or Garden chains, this is a Hilton tier and the rooms do not reflect that. I ended my stay 30 days early and transferred to a nearby Hampton Inn.

Overall, I would stay there again. The area around the hotel is under a lot of construction and driving is difficult. There are some good restaurants, bars and a few attractions within walking distance. The hotel needs some "attention to detail" cleaning, we found old coffee filters in the coffee machine and black hairs in the bed sheets. Valet parking is your best bet at $16.00 a day, they will retrieve your vehicle as often as you like. The staff was efficient, but not especially friendly. For the cost of the stay, I was expecting a little more.

Ill-furnished, room design nescient; ONLY valet parking. No closet: 18" wide armoire space for clothes, shared with TV too big for space provided (view from bed only). TV service useless: no channel guide or adjustment to format so most content squashed flat and stretched sideways. Bath the worst: bi-fold doors that block the WC to the left and light switch to the right. Actually not a bath but a creepy, stained-tile, cracked drain STALL shower — head too high for easy adjustment, water control directly below head. So get pounded by cold water as you turn it on. Cheesy coffee maker (also in armoire) low, dark and inaccessible. Work desk/chair combo 6" off, took two requests to get taller chair. Too bad there's no ZERO star rating, Hilton BR Capitol has earned it.
