This was the worst hotel stay we've ever had! We will NEVER stay here again!
The room on the 2nd floor had bugs! Sheets had stains, the towels were gross, these owners are soooo cheap they reuse the paper keys holder.
The owner stressed NO visitors, very unfriendly like he hates his life POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! No check in before 3pm, even thought we contact them and ask to check in early. The hotel was EMPTY, why couldn't we check in early?
Only 1 parking spot
Breakfast was a JOKE English muffins, 2 kinds of STALE cereal, orange juice and COLD COFFEE. I volunteered at a homeless shelter a few years back, they were given better home!

My friends were going to book the same hotel BUT after seeing the owner nasty attitude they went across the street to the Quality Inn. It was cheaper, better room and much better breakfast! not water front, or near the beach. You have to walk several blocks for beach access! Stay Safe, check in a chain hotel.

Don’t do it! Stay far away! PLEASE Don’t stay here. Police called as manager said she had a gun. Police said they have been there many times because of the manager harassing guests. Not safe. Manager goes thru your room—when you are sleeping. Please for your own safety go somewhere else.

Filthy. Dirty towels in bathroom. Overpriced. Uncomfortable beds. NEVER waist your money in this S__those.

Very nice cozy hotel. Very clean. Owners are very friendly. Nice pool area. Great area. Short walk to beach. About a 5 minute drive to downtown St. Augustine. My family stayed here for a week. Would reccomend this hotel. Great hotel for the money.

Great Service! Ran by one man and one woman. They are very friendly! Rooms are decently good. They are equipped with a microwave and small mini fridge. I had a room for 2, with a king bed. It was just enough room for us! The only down about the rooms is that the cleaning woman comes around 10AM, which means no sleeping in. The hotel is walking distance from just about everything! Including restaurants and the beach! The beach is only about a 10 minute walk, and it’s all down a board walk with a pretty view. The rates are OUT OF THIS WORLD! Very cheap! I highly recommend (:

I went to a concert in town, and had not booked a room. The Island Inn was one of the only hotels in town that had a vacancy. Lucky me! Although at first the owners were hesitant to rent me a room, (I think they have dealt with partiers/college students trashing the place, ) we came to terms and in the end I’m glad the other hotels were booked. The room was clean, their pool area is nice and relaxed, and overall I had a wonderful experience. Would/will stay again.

Quiet and close to the beach. Hannah the owner is amazing, She is very nice and very friendly. Her and her husband worked very hard to make our stay a relaxing time. Safe place to park your car, under the shade. The owners are here 24 hours 7 days a week. If we need anything they were able to accommodate for us. I enjoyed knowing that I could go to the beach or site see with out worries. Thank you for everything you do. Every time I come to St. Augustine I will be coming back here.

STAY AWAY! I booked this hotel because I was driving to Florida for a business conference and thought it would a a great stop on my way home. Three days before check-in I became aware I wouldn't be passing that way after all and called to cancel. I was told I missed the cancellation window by 15 minutes. After some back and forth I realized I wasn't dealing with a reasonable person so I hung up and called my credit card company. In the 30 minutes that followed, they ran my card over and over, above the room rate, until I had to cancel the card. I had to proceed to my conference without a business card for one thing, which was annoying. But now I can't imagine if I had actually stayed there and maybe they would steal from my room or assault me right out.

I really can’t understand any negative reviews that have been posted. Our experience was very positive, and I must say that we love the Island Inn! Steve and his wife (the owners) are so friendly and treated us with consideration and respect. They work hard and take great pride in their hotel and it shows. The place is super clean and the pool is perfectly maintained. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The AC and all appliances worked great. The location is perfect as well. Quiet and far from the crowds. Lots of eating options close by. The beach itself is about a ten minute walk down a wooden boardwalk that cuts through the sand dunes and undeveloped nature area. The walk seems very short though because it is simply so gorgeous. No crowds, just beautiful views. We loved staying at the Island Inn and can’t wait to return! Highly recommended!

No soft chair in king room. No beach access at motel. Hannah was great and works her but off. Nice pool. Breakfast sucks.

The owners are very nice and the location is fine but the room is so musty that I had to leave the door open so some air could get in. Even the air conditioning did not get rid of the smell. It smelled like someone had got the carpet wet and it never dried right. Unfortunately they did not have any other rooms for me. Also the bed is way too soft. The smell was so strong that the next day the clothing that I had in the room actually smelled of the same smell in the room. Again very very nice owners but I would rather have a perfect room and not so nice owners. Especially for the price. Almost $200 for one night.

I recently stayed here with my boyfriend and we had a great time! The hotel was very clean and the pool was perfectly maintained! The staff (Steve and his wife) treated us with respect and courtesy. The location was perfect as well, with a grocery store and many dining options within a mile in either directions. There is a short walk to the beach, but it is gorgeous and very enjoyable since no roads have to be crossed and you get to walk down a beautiful nature-style boardwalk that cuts through the dunes and offers pretty views and glimpses of turtles, egrets, and pelicans. We enjoyed our stay at the Island Inn so much that we decided to rearrange our schedule to stay an additional night. Our room was a great value for the rate we paid and we are very much looking forward to returning. Highly recommended!

My girlfriend and I just spent four days here and it was awesome! Very affordable rates for an incredible beach-side location! A gorgeous short walk to the beach down a nature-trail style boardwalk far from the crowds and unwanted noise of the more expensive, crowded hotels really gives a sense of solitude and nature. The owners were very friendly and accommodating and seem to take great pride in their hotel. It is very, very clean and the pool is immaculate and refreshing with a restroom just inside the building. Also there is a grocery store and many great places to eat within only a mile in each direction, so the location is perfect. We really enjoyed our time there and look forward to returning. We stay here every chance we can when we are in St. Augustine. The rooms are always clean everytime we have come to stay. (we've been there quite a few times) Its a great place to bring the family, the pool is clean and feels great, coffee taste awesome, its just a short walk to the beach and the owners/staff are very nice and respectful. My husband, and I came down from Jacksonville for a little mini vacation and stayed 3 nights. It's a small motel which I prefer over the bigger hotel chains. The people who run it are very nice people and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. It's nothing fancy but it's kept clean. We definatly will stay here again next time we're in town.

This hotel was so much more than just a nice place to stay. The owners, Hannah and her husband, are the sweetest most accommodating hosts I've ever met. I called 2 days before our arrival to ask them to hold a room for my family's very first vacation. I had no way to pay over the phone but they worked with me even after multiple delays causing us to check in 2 hours late! The room was beautiful, clean, well stocked, and had a nice view. Hearing the crashing waves as you lay sipping coffee is euphoria! The hotel is in a perfect location. A short stroll to the beach, minutes from awesome food and the historic sites, but just far enough you aren't in the crowds or congestion. The pool was a blast and super clean and well maintained. We will be going back every year (or more) because the owners are so kind and we enjoyed ourselves so much. My 4 year old hasn't stopped asking about Hannah and we've been gone a week! The Island Inn is soo much more than a chain hotel can provide… And we will never stay anywhere else when we are in St Augustine!

Each time my husband and I stay here we have been very pleased. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are very clean. Very affordable rates. We will stay here again.

Had a relaxing peaceful get away. Innkeeper put us in a beachside corner unit no road noise just the sound of the waves upon the sand! Close to a great beach access park. Near a Publix and many other shops. Comfortable room layout. A. C. Kept us cool and the pool deck was a great place for an afternoon nap. I mean break!

Had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful inn during the Christmas vacation. The owner and staff were so friendly and welcomed us as if we were family. They were so kind and loving and told of us good places to eat and places to visit. The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable, I got a great night sleep. Very quiet and peaceful. The pool is very relaxing and the view is magnificent. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and definitely will stay there next time I visit over the summer. I recommend this place to everyone, very economic and more than worth it.

First off, the owner's went above and beyond to ensure that my family and I had a wonderful stay. Room service was perfect, fresh towels everyday and a happy smile. Second, the hotel was very clean and comfortable. Third, from the minute we checked in, to the minute we checked out, the owners made sure we were enjoying our stay.

It was decent and clean, but nothing special. Room was big, but very basic and in need of some better necessities. Towels were too small and thin to be comfortable. Staff was nice and it was quiet.

I stayed at this place because my family and I where going on vacation. As soon as I walked in the room it wasn't open, very compacted, I look at the sheets and there are stains everywhere. Then I see a huge hole on the sheet. Luckily I was only staying there for 1 night so it wasn't that bad. But everything thing seemed dirty and nasty.

Absolutely disgusting! The room reeked of cigarette smoke, roaches crawling on the walls, the bedspreads had stains all over them, the sheets had black hair on them! The lady insisted that there wasn't a smoke smell in the room because she had just cleaned it that morning! She kept raising her voice saying "NO, it's a no smoking room! " BUT YET there were cigarette burns all over the bathroom from where they had been laid down. She then told me to roll a towel up and put it in front of the door… whatever good that would do? I asked for a refund because I have three young children, once being a newborn that couldn't stay in that room! She said there were no refunds. I asked for another room and she said there weren't any available. But then told me they had a nicer room but I would have to pay more! I am shocked that this place is able to stay open! Mold all over the bathtub! So after driving 10 hours we had to leave and spend another hour trying to find another room!

Don’t stay here! It smells, the floor creaks in the hallway when you walk. You cannot have visitors like really? The lady at the desk took forever and kept getting in my kids and I’s conversation. We were woke up at 7:45 am by hammering, drilling and a forklift. We were not told about any construction going on. Never again!

Stay only if you need a place to sleep. Very basic, no functioning tubs, showers only. Good location to restaurants.

We previously stayed here around 2013, was a decent hotel. We brought our friends from the UK to here to show them st augustine and chose this hotel. They got engaged on the beach and we went around showing them the area. Come back to the hotel, checked in and went into the hotel then found a cockroach and rotten fruit in the room… then wait… another cockroach! Stains on the floors, dust on the appliances. Etc. The room was smelly and muggy as well so we decided we didnt want to stay here because it was so disgusting and we went down to cancel, then the owners were very rude. Needless to say that the cops got called after trying to simply ask for a refund and the woman ended up pushing my friend from the UK out of the door! I couldn't believe it. I would never recommend this hotel, I would give 0 stars if possible. Absolutely horrible.

Absolutely disgraceful the place smells damp and mouldy, we found not one but 3 cockroaches! There was mouldy fruit and other food items on the floor, there were also wrappers lying around the floor, the hygiene of this place is absolutely vile! We do not get tired of staying at this hotel every time we come to St Augustine. We totally recomend this place, room is always clean and neat and the owners are awesome people!

Location was great as far as the beach goes. The breakfast… you could have brought your own from home and did better. The room was ok but not worth the money we spent and smelled OLD. We added an air freshener to get rid of the smell. The bed was comfy.

Very budget hotel with old worn-out spring mattresses as my husband said "they have better mattresses at Goodwill". The room was quiet. The carpet appears old and disintegrating. There is no view of the water. It is Not on the beach. It is barely Beachside. The hotel towels are very overused dingy and frayed edges. See pxs. There are enough towels for a small child or petite adults but not if you are wet.  I tossed all night and woke up with significant back pain as did my husband. The room was clean but outdated with mismatched but functional furniture. The bathrooms are small and outdated but clean. The pool is small but neat deck area a bit cloudy water. We took a swim prior to check out and it was nice. No towels at poolside. You have to check them out at the front desk. I asked about Breakfast and was told no there is coffee in the room. I found out in the morning at check out that there was breakfast in the lobby. When I asked about breakfast I was told "you paid with a coupon and you don't get the breakfast" (read other reviews about the cereal glorious breakfast. ) I have stayed at other area hotels and usually use a coupon or book thru priceline etc and have never been denied the breakfast or good towels.   Ok. Heres the fun part. When I requested a later than 11 a. M. Check out I was told "it's $15 an hour after 11 a. M. " (by the way their clock is set 10 minutes faster than my cell phone). I asked the woman at front who do I complain to about the bad bed.?

It was just okay. I was pretty sure it said beach front, but it's just beach side. The rooms are outdated but clean. When we arrived the air conditioning wasn't running at all in our room and for a moment it was sweltering while we figured out if the air worked or not. The pool area was very nice. Our stay was okay. Nothing amazing to report, but also nothing horrible. Good for a one night stop.

The hotel its self was fine, besides the floor turning our feet black when we would get out of the shower. The problem was the rude "management". There appeared to only be two people that worked there and they behaved as if we were unwelcome and were invading their home. We asked for another pillow and were told we had enough, which led to my mother "who has medical issues" not being able to sleep all weekend. We asked for clean towel and all we got was a rude response, luckily I brought beach towels. The complementary breakfast included stale cereal and warm watered down milk! We will not be going back!

The pool is very small and unheated. We couldn't swim in it. They charge $10 if you lose your plastic room key. The beds were comfortable and the AC was good. We definitely not be back. It was overpriced and FALSELY advertised as beachside.

The hotel is awful! The A/C in rooms don't cool, they don't provide enough shampoo or towels in room for the number of people inside the rooms, breakfast is only until 9:30. When you leave out of your room, the immense heat in the hallway is horrible. To get things (toilet paper, extra towels — yes I needed these things, etc. ) from the front desk is like pulling teeth. There was a reason there was vacancy on 4th of July weekend!

Awful service, price 177$ we looked on the picture and it's was nice big room, but when we came it's was small and dirty, no soap, no shampoo, and most shocking is TOWELS, I have to fight for clean and something what doesn't looks like a floor wash rug) ) ), both owners were not nice and told me it's no towels, I would leave this place immediately but they refuse to do refund and pulled out two very dusty towels, Awful, AWFUL AWFUL. If you worried about your health then this hotel not for you, for 177$ to much$$$$$$

Reserved the room for Sat night, arrived at Hotel and it is NOT beach front as stated, the beach is 10 mins away. Got our room, opened door and NO AIR. They guy (owner) at front desk said turn it on and give it time, I asked for a room that was already cooled down with and he refused. My elder mother can not be in heat. The Beds had blood stains on comforter. There were bugs on floor and room had never been vacuumed. We told guy a few times the air did not work, after and hour he said when it gets cold in room turn it off. Well it never ever got cool, it was cooler outside and it was 98 out. The halls have no air. We told him we were leaving, he threatened we were not allowed, well okay try to stop us. I walked in to office and nicely handed him key and said we are leaving the air does NOT work, at that time his wife came out yelling in Pakastain, Iranian whatever language it was at me. I told her to shut up the air didn't work and we are leaving at that time their son jumped over the mother and tried to grab me threating me. We left. Got a room at a beautiful very pleasant hotel down the road. Called American Express and they reversed the charge. Also called the Chamber and let them know what kind of place this is, called the Health Department also so they can do an investigation. This place NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN! Ran by the RUDEST.

Stained carpet and linens, not enough linens bc they didn't do laundry (what staff said), continental breakfast was 2 cereal choices or cold coffee or English muffin, very minimal toiletries, terrible Wi-Fi access… all this being said… Beds were clean!

We stsyed here for 2 nigjts and had problems since the 1st day getting the room key. The couple who runs this place is extremely rude. More less the woman then the man. Rooms are very dated and they give you hassle for asking for more towels. The beach is almost 2 miles from this motel so we had too take our car. I will never stay at this place again.

Pro — within walking distance of the nearest Jetty allowing access to the beaches.
Against — surly Staff, check in took the beauty of 30 minutes during which the owner of the hotel he repeated 20 times the same questions: "do you have animals? ", "If you smoke are 250 dollar fine", "cancelled the booking on booking and book here now at the moment so I don't pay commissions". Room not clean, no broken window and insect screen broken.

My family and I stayed for 2 nights and we loved the place and everything around it. The staff was very nice helped us giving us directions to go to the beach and other places, we didnt have any problems at all. We will come back and we surely recommend this hotel!

We stayed 1 night. The room was pretty big and clean. It's a nice and friendly environment. The staff were wonderful, very helpful and very nice. We will be going back.

I wish I could give zero stars. In June 2015 I reserved a 4-night stay for August 5-9, 2015 through a third party website. I never received a confirmation number through email. We were unable to keep our reservation due to personal matters, so I kindly called the St Augustine Island Inn on August 1, 2015. I spoke with a gentleman who assured me that "there is no reservation here for anyone with the last name _____. He even spelled our name to me and said "no, we do not have a reservation for you, so there is nothing to cancel". I assumed the reservation did not go through. One week later, I see a charge to my credit card for $87.95. I immediately called the hotel and spoke to a very rude lady who abruptly interrupted me and transferred me to a line that just kept ringing. I called back and the phone was answered by a gentlemen (who sounded like the same person I talked to on August 1st). He repeatedly interrupted me and it was difficult for me to even talk to him. I explained the entire situation with every detail, and he just kept saying "I'm sorry, you didn't show. " "I'm sorry, you should have cancelled. " "You should have cancelled online. " "The reservation was under (our name) ". After several minutes of him not listening to me and interrupting me, I kindly asked to speak to a manager. I was told "No one is here, they are all out of the country. " I feel I was scammed in the fact that this gentleman TOLD ME ON THE PHONE that I had NO RESERVATION.

Please be advised the management at this hotel treat clients terribly. They are RUDE, invasive, and downright hostile. They are liars and behave inappropriately. You can take your chances, maybe it depends on the moon phase whether or not they will be off balance. The rooms are nothing special, nor is the rate, the doors are left open all night and bugs swarm the hallways. You will not get fresh towels/soap/coffee, etc. Or daily service without asking — which is not standard practice. The carpets are old and beat up as is the furniture. The beach is a mile away on foot which is not as you are led to believe. The only thing they offer is enough parking because they don't fill the rooms, no surprise. And you may get a towel thrown in your face as one lady reported and I had my door slammed almost off it's hinges when manager had a hissy fit because I was trying to sleep and they wanted to clean my carpet! I specifically asked not to be disturbed. These people are stark raving mad if you ask me. I stay in Hiltons and Hamptons and I will go back to sticking only with those hotels. St Augustine Inn is a dump and a freak show. Beware!

My husband, daughter, and I had reservations for Friday, July 3rd. This was the only hotel in the area with any availability and once we got there we knew exactly why. The pictures are completely deceiving. The hallways have no air so they leave the doors open to the stairwells so the floors and walls are covered in bus and anyone can get into the halls and have access to your room. When we got into our room, the bedding had blood stains and spiders in the beds. The room smelled like cat pee and since there were no pets allowed, I can only assume it was the smell of meth. We did not end up staying and requested a refund. The owners became very nasty and stated that the bugs could have come from our luggage. They were the nastiest pee I have dealt with in a very long time. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. I have called the local health department and requested they do an investigation.

Absolutely perfect place to stay! beautifully decorated! large comfortable rooms! pool was clean and coo! l the bed was the best I have ever slept in, EVER! the owners are the kindest people and most helpful! the hotel is very close to st. Augustine and right at the beach! plenty of shops and restaurants too! thank you Island Inn.

Beds were comfortable and staff was extremely kind. Fun short little walk to beach. Was the 1st night of our girlvs A1A road trip.

The way they treated us at this hotel was uncalled for. They were really nice to us when we got there, each room only got 3 wash cloths and 3 towels and a hand towel, when we wanted a couple of extras, that's when it got ugly over nothing. There rude attitude was very exceptionable. Very rude. The hotel looks nice outside and the pool kept up but the need a serious upgrade. They are behind the time, needs a makeover. You do not want to stay there.

We had family stop and visit and the entire time the owner made us feel unwelcome as he harassed us about them being there. He was rude anf nasty to my family and me. The TV is very old and the toilet was broke. We had to remove the tank lid just to flush it. The owner seemed more interested in patrolling the parking lot versus taking are of any real issue's. This place really fell short for me. Would recommend going right across the street to a much better hotel.

I will never stay here! The people at the front desk were so incredibly rude that we didn't even check in to the hotel. We were a group of 4 women staying in 1 room and we were lectured by the man and woman at the front desk on how "you can't be coming in and out of the hotel. You can not have visitors. If someone needs to meet you, you can meet them in the parking lot, etc. " Their attitudes were terrible. They treated us like we were in 2nd grade and they were our parents. I DON'T THINK SO! The pool was COMPLETELY green and looked disgusting. We chose to stay at a hotel (with a MUCH better rate) right across the street. St. Augustine Island Inn charged my credit card for one night anyway. But my bank took care of that for me! =) I will never even think twice about staying in this hotel.

I loved the stay! The owner and his wife were fantastic and my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves! It was very clean and way nicer than the hotel across the street for sure! The pool was amazing! And we are about to stay there this weekend again.

Hotel was dirty. AC had a skunky smell to it. Bed was crickety. Balcony is shared with 3 other rooms, so even if you ask for non smoking. Your neighbors can smoke on the balcony, which came through the sliding glass door (not sealed well) It is a long walk to the beach, but do-able. Pool is VERY VERY small. Definitely WAY overpriced for what you get. Will not stay here again. It was a last minute trip, so it was one of the only hotels available for our stay. Otherwise, I would not have booked it.

Great deal! Nicer than I expected for the price range. Very nice staff. Most of the parking is covered. Very close to the beach. There is a shuttle from this hotel to historic St Augustine, very very convenient.

I stayed a whole week there with my nephew and we loved it. It was so convenient to everything and it was very clean, The people that worked there are so nice and helpful, We will definitely stayed there any time we come to St Augustine. Thanks again for a wonderful week.

All in all, a great place to stay in Saint Augustine. Comfortable, clean and affordable rooms with a great stuff at your service. If you are looking for a nice budget hotel, then this is the best place.
