The room was shoddy at best, cracks in the walls, wallpaper peeling in spots and a big dead beetle in between the top duvet and the sheet. If it weren't for the super nice lady at the front counter I would have given only one star. She was very nice and went out of her way for us. The room had no fridge, and for the amount of money we paid it should have been in much better condition (cracks in the plaster, wall paper peeled off in the bathroom, and only one teenie tiny shampoo/conditioner combination bottle… just one! ). The big dead beetle was really gross. Won't recommend or stay again.

Oh no way! This place was a total rip off. First on the web rooms are $82. 00, but when we get there, last night, the woman behind the counter just keeps jacking up the price. First, $120, then $140, ultimately $169 with taxes? The whole time she is just laughing at us. We should have left. But we were so damn tired, we just said &^%$# it! This place is worth $82, sure. But, at $169 it should have come with a hot tub and a little bit more than some kind of continental breakfast served up on used plates. The rooms are adorned in neo 50's and 60's plasticine. stay away from this place. You have been warned!

The hotel was fine, but over priced. I expected more for $130 a night, like a Kleenex box in the bathroom. And the breakfast was mediocre-baked eggs with cheese, cereal, and toast. No fruits. From the other reviews about a great breakfast, it makes me think the hotel recently changed ownership and the new owners are trying to reduce cost but keep prices the same. And tea selection was eclectic assortment of different brands of tea. Almost like they took the last few bags from the generic brand and put them in a pretty box.

As soon as my dad and I figured out that my 4th generation grandfather created this hotel, we knew we had to stop on our way to Yosemite. I would say a very good experience. Rooms are awesome. Very old and rustic, but clean and simplistic at the same time. Beds are comfortable and the bathroom is huge. Staff are super friendly and the complimentary breakfast is delicious. Would definitely return!

GREAT place to stay, what a wonderful charming and antique hotel in historic downtown Sonora. Staff is very helpful and courteous. Gary and Jannat are very nice. Close to antique gift shops, restaurants. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Buffet breakfast was amazing. Everything was so inviting and charming. I highly recommend everybody and will be back for sure.

Grew up in Sonora so it was fun to stay while at my 45th Highschool Reunion. Pleasant experience. I'm handicapped & in a wheelchair & it isn't very accessible, but made it work & it was worth it. Room clean & comfortable & brings back great memories of living in Sonora

Beautiful historic hotel! The staff were very nice and the breakfast was great! Our room was very comfortable and the pool was clean and amazing! Walking distance from everything downtown! Our favorite place in the hills by far! We'll be coming back asap

We spent two nights at the Gunn House Hotel this week. Unless you are in the area to experience a historical building and appreciate what life was like back then, I can not recommend this hotel. From what we experienced, this hotel is run on a repair when things break, or when guests complain basis. The room we stayed in was small with two queen beds in it. There was an unpleasant odor in it and the bathroom was not clean and could not be the way it was "re-finished". In addition to that, dark brown stains on the bottom of the shower curtain as well as a floor mat that had seen better days did not make us feel much better about this hotel. There is a window A/C unit placed in an opening to a common area. There was a water supply line break the first day we were there. We had a few hours of no water. We were told that a temporary patch had been put on it and the water was restored later in the evening. A temporary "patch" seems to be the way things have been run here for many years. I do not understand how this hotel can have received such a high rating in the past.

Our room was a dungeon. In stead of well formed pillows we had a stack of decorative pillows and 2 teddy bears. The sheets were stained. A side chair was in dire need of being recovered. The temperature was difficult to control. Stoppers in the sink and tub were missing. We had plans to leave early for the park after a few cups of coffee but breakfast is not served until 7:30 which was the first time coffee was available. The breakfast was superb. The sounds of the main street were heard in our room.

Take a step back in time and stay at the Gunn House. Each room is different and filled with antiques. Rooms have TV but no phone. Great way to escape the outside world. Situated in beautiful downtown Sonora, a short walk to numerous bars, restaurants and shops. Love staying here and riding around the foothills.

The Gunn House Hotel is lovely historic hotel in the heart of Downtown Sonora. The rooms are as unique as they are charming. The service and staff were excellent! The morning breakfast was definitely an amazingly delicious great start to any day.

A wonderful getaway in the heart of Sonora filled with charm, history, and character. The room was quaint and filled with unique furniture and fixtures. The breakfast was exceptional. The only thing which could be improved would be the bathroom which had mildew on the ceiling due to poor ventilation. Besides that, I enjoyed my stay and hope to return some day.

This was an okay historic experience. I found the rooms dated, and this is exactly what this place is about: carefully preserved atmosphere of an old roadside hotel. I stayed in a room at the front and yes it was a bit noisy (there were no plastic soundproof windows back when the place was built). However, it was an OK value for the money, and the place did deliver on its promise of a historic hotel. Please be aware that the front desk closes early (at 7 or 8pm, I forgot).

I stayed here with other family members for a night. The owners are very pleasant and accommodating and the rooms were very comfortable. Every room is different, and plainly but comfortably furnished. Comes with a free breakfast that has better choices that the typical continental fare, including made to order waffles that are delicious. I was very happy with Gunn House Hotel and look forward to staying there again the next time I am in the area.
