It is a beautifully restored Victorian building. I love staying here. They have a partnership with a hospital and when my daughter is here for cancer treatment we get a room for $10.00 or $20.00. It is something to look forward to on an otherwise unwelcome trip.

I come here about twice a year every year from Philadelphia. Love this place! Wonderful staff, they go out of the way for you and the most comfortable rooms!

The staff was 100% helpful and pleasant. Our room was kept clean and fresh from the time we arrived until we checked out 5 days later. The towels were big, thick, and comfortable. Everything met and exceeded our expectations and we cannot wait to return!

Lovely old Victorian that meets current standards but retains old world charm.

Love love this place. Beautiful well maintained rooms. We had a fireplace and they always provided as many logs as we needed. Kept out fire flung around the clock when we were in room. Covid made it so the breakfast was limited, but was still good compared to other hotels right now. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The hotel is center of everything, it’s perfect! Very romantic! Very clean! We w joyed the sitting rooms every night by the fire down there also. Played chess and read books they had down there. Loved it! We will be back!

Start to finish A+ all around stay. Every employee was nice and all were helpful. Complimentary cookies in afternoon were yummy and a welcome sight after a long walk around town. Ride for small groups to area tourist spots is useful and free. Our room and the hotel was clean and full of character. If you are looking for modern furnishings, pool, and other things most new hotels offer you are in wrong place. I don’t say that as a negative. It’s quiet, quaint, and transport you back to simpler times. Highly recommend. We had four children under 15 with us and were made to feel very welcome. Parking is convenient and not costly compared to most spots in the city.

I have never felt that much at home in a hotel as I have at the Queen Anne. The staff treats you like family and the atmosphere underlines it. Whenever I will end up SF, that's where I will stay. And nowhere else! Thank you for letting us have room 410. It was quite something :).

I’ve stayed several times and may do so again but this time the mattress was very soft and hurt my back and the room (on the top floor) was an oven. They do have great breakfasts included.

This place is sooooo Victorian and cute! The desk clerk and the concierge were very friendly and went out of their ways to help me with finding places to go nearby for good food and making me feel welcome. I was there to celebrate my birthday and they brought up some wine and chocolates to help me settle in while unpacking! This place is aesthetic, delightfully antiquated, offers breakfast and afternoon sherry (hello I’m a Victorian lady now), and they love their customers! I 100% plan on staying here again.

We haven’t even stayed yet. We made reservations for this Wednesday on the recommendation of UCSF Hospital. I am having surgery and needed a nice hotel to stay at during my stay for my consultation. We live across the country. I was informed that we could get a discount as a UCSF patient. When I called to let the hotel know, the manager said we were beyond the cancellation date. I explained I was not cancelling and just wanted to take advantage of the discount. He continued to repeat that it was beyond the Cancellation period and that he couldn’t do anything to help me. I said that was extremely dissapointing that he would not honor the discount. He repeated again how he could not do anything and could not get back into the “computer’s system” to change anything. I find that hard to believe since he said he was the manager. Just some background, I’m a cancer survivor and amputee and we made plans quickly as we were unable to finalize plans due to work schedule and surgeon’s schedule until very close to date of our reservation. When I said to the hotel manager that I’d be coming back at at least 2 more times and maybe I should find a different hotel next time since they were not willing to honor the discount he said “that’s probably a good idea! ” Not sure what his name is but I spoke to him at around 4pm east coast time or 1pm West coast time on June 24, 2019. He was very unaccommodating. Steer clear of this hotel.

A unique little gem in a great location! Located on the outskirts of Downtown San Francisco, you are close enough to most of the action, but still far enough away that your ears aren't polluted by the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The staff are friendly and courteous, and room's are unique, antique, and comfortable.

Stayed one night with the family. The staff is supper friendly and always helpful. Shanna… (I hope I spelled her name right) was like a friend to us. Helping us to find our way around the city and giving us pointers and solutions for our plans. As for the building, everything and I do mean everything has a story to tell if you can hear it. Over all, a wonderful, old place to put you feet up for a spell. Must return.

We have stayed at this bed and breakfast both times we have visited San Francisco. Nothing bad to say about the place. Friendly staff, great Victorian place to stay! Has a very cool history behind the building! Live the hotel and the city! We also had a great taxi driver that took us everywhere in San Francisco, even places we didn't know were there (Robin Williams house).

My husband and I stayed a night here for my birthday a few years ago. The decor was absolutely amazing. Anyone who chooses to stay at the Queen Anne should know that this isn't a modern hotel. It's an old, Victorian-style hotel but each room is a charming suite and the beds are comfortable. Our deluxe king room had two fireplaces and our own, personal jacuzzi to use. Best of all? The hotel is haunted. However, though the fact that the hotel claims to be haunted is what drew me here, I was too afraid to use my Jacuzzi at night once my husband fell asleep, hah! So yes, the in-room jacuzzi looked beautiful but I didn't use it! However, in honor of my birthday, the hotel gave us a bottle of champagne with strawberries and chocolates which we thoroughly enjoyed. You can also do the nearby ghost walking tour which, if I remember correctly, starts just downstairs on the sidewalk.

Stayed here for eleven nights this past late November until early December. To be honest I could have stayed longer. A place with lots of charm. Free coffee on tap 24/7. Complimentary cookies and brandy around 5:00pm and friendly and helpful staff that I absolutely could not fault. Also have a great selection of food for breakfast. Whether it's cereal, grilled food or waffles from the waffle station, there is lots to choose from. If ever in San Francisco and you want to stay somewhere that is not your usual run of the mill hotel and instead want somewhere warm, inviting, with character, charm and friendly staff then be sure to check this gem out.

Quaint, lovely older Victorian hotel with gorgeous period furniture and a nice morning breakfast. Everyone was very helpful and professional. Excellent price for a very central location.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Have to say they are amazing! What a beautiful and homey place. We felt so welcome the minute we walked in. I had a question about parking and emailed them. They asked the reason for our stay, which was our 25th wedding anniversary. When we got to our room they had a card and a bottle of champagne for us! The concierge was so informative and friendly. They made our stay even more amazing then we already had. Highly recommend.

About as affordable as you may find in the given area. The hotel itself has a deep history and the communal areas reflect all of that. Plenty of character in the lobby and halls! That said, the rooms show all of the age — peeling paint, creaking floorboards, etc. The furniture has all of the consistency in each room and from one room to next of multiple combined garage sales. And although the daytime staff was great and wonderfully courteous, the nighttime staff was a bit rude and disorganized, including giving my in-laws keys to a room that was already occupied! Might consider staying here again if rates are high across the city, but otherwise, not my first SF go-to.

Great hotel with very helpful and knowledgeable staff within walking distance of Union Square and very close to Japan Town. The interior design is very unique wich can both be a plus or a minus depending on your taste, I found it very nice. The Wi-Fi worked well and we were able to stream movies with no interruptions.

One of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in. We had a HUGE corner room with a bay window that was fantastic to sit and read in.

The interior is decorated in a Victorian style, which was very interesting and cool to see. The parking situation requires a permit for a specific lot, but it is pretty good for San Francisco.

The Queen Ann Hotel is beautiful with a misterious feel to it. The gorgeous furniture and the amazing breakfast are the icing on the cake. You will surely think you've been transported back in time. Great experience.

This place is amazing. Built in 1889, this is a Victorian Masterpiece. It's not only beautiful to look at, it's wonderfully comfortable. The furniture, the artwork and the friendly staff make this place fun and exciting for anyone who loves history.

Exceptional service, wonderful environment, clean rooms and great history make this hotel one we shall certainly return to. A definite hidden gem!

Stayed one week here. Good service. Good continental breakfast. No complaint. Just had to tighten the door knob to the bathroom door because its antiquity brought the knobs down on the floor.

Beautiful historical building, friendly staff, comfy beds, lots to see in the area & fun times looking around the hotel. Clean and lovely shower. Although we didn't encounter the "spirits" of the hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed our New Year's eve stay. Parking across the street.

Amazing hotel and staff were all wonderful. They have a private car service they can take you in the mornings for a great start to your day. John was very memorable but all the staff were great. I’d stay again when we come back.

Such a beautiful hotel! The staff is wonderful. The rooms are comfortable. The location is pretty central, less than a mile from UCSF medical center and walking distance to Japantown.

Rooms and lounges with amazing decor in a convenient and quite location. Main issues I had is that Wi-Fi doesn't work in my room, the TV has spotty reception, and there isn't a fridge or a self-serve ice machine. Some of the items could have a bit better maintenance, but I really liked the interior overall — lots of great character. The staff are also very friendly and welcoming!

Super friendly staff. I loved all the antiques and art, the lobby was lovely. I wish our room (we stayed in a regular room w/king bed) had maybe a couple more basic amenities, particularly a safe and a coffee maker, although there was free coffee and tea for guests in the lobby 24/7. Besides the absence of a safe, I was happy with everything and I would stay here again. Its located in Japantown and was walking distance to many great food spots. My room was clean and the bed was comfy.

For a historic Victorian hotel this place was great. They had complementary sherry, cookies, and tea/coffee in the afternoons which was a pleasant surprise. It is a little expensive, however if you are into historic Victorian era bed and breakfast places and you are in the area this place is a must. For the price I paid I was hoping for a slightly better breakfast such as an omelette bar or more variety for breakfast though.

NOTHING to complain about here. Absolutely a treat. Probably the oldest building I have ever been in San Francisco. The fact that is was one of the few to survive the '06 earthquake needs to be a highlight of its history. Even on a Friday night, the rates were great for what it was. For us, it was great to walk home from the concert we were at. OK, the breakfast could have been better… real eggs, fruit options etc, which would have been more in keeping with the rest of it. But we will be back, especially to walk to concerts. OH, and while reading complaints from others, we have stayed in some pretty aweful hotels in SF at these near $200 rates. People have no idea how musty, stuffy, and noisy a SF hotel can be. This one was the quietest so far.

Location is in the city. Rooms are updated. Very small though. They serve breakfast. You have to pay for parking. Staff is friendly and nice.

We have stayed at the Queen Ann often since my Brain surgery and many follow up Appts. The interior decoration is like England in the medieval period where Kings and Queens might mingle. One of the oldest Hotels in S. F. It has been said to be haunted for quite some time now. However besides some old squeaky floor boards and doors that sound like an old Boris Karloff horror film I've yet to be visited by any ghosts or ghouls. They do serve a frighteningly good breakfast, complimentary of course along with an assortment of fresh baked cookies at 5 left out for the guests. This Traveler gives the Queen 5 stars!

The decor was amazing. Breakfast was above average. Really good location near Japantown and transit. Room was pretty small though.

Hotel and rooms were nice, enjoyed the antique feel. Staff very polite. Able to get parking mid week. Elevator permit expired.

We booked last minute after a mishap with a reservation somewhere else. It was cozy and attractive with pleasant, helpful staff. This is one of the few cases when the hotel looks better in person than it does in online pictures. The bed was plush. No air conditioning, but I can't imagine who needs AC in SF.

A very beautiful and we keeped antique of a hotel. We very much enjoyed our stay. From the furniture to the wall paper made you feel as if you went back in time. They were very welcoming and comforting. The rooms were well kept and clean. They had a parking lot that they assign you a parking pass but you did have to pay for. There were wild parrots outside in the Trees of the hotel. It is in a pretty good location not far from a lot of entertainment food and all the above. Wii used Lyft to get around from the hotel. They also provided breakfast Continental Style.

Great rates, service, and rooms. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. You can stay at a (insert hotel chain here) anywhere, but the Queen Anne was a one of a kind experience.

We visited with friends who were staying at the hotel. It was lovely and old fashioned. Careful with the bathroom doors, they stick!

It's a great place to stay! felt more like staying in a home instead of hotel going back in a few days.

It was very good. The food was good. The location was easy to find.

This is a delightful place to say for those who wish to get away and experience the past. But it can be disappointing if one expects full hotel accompaniments at their fingertip. Ice for example is only available by the staff. There is no AC so avoid staying the few hot weeks of the year that happen in San Fran. The most disappointing if not frustrating experience, on many levels is the lack of good Wi-Fi nor a fully functioning Office Center. The single "business center" PC located in front of the front desk was nearly as vintage as the hotel itself. A shame considering San Fran is touted as being close to the epicenter of technology. But lest I end this on a negative note, we loved our stay despite the difficulties. The Staff are "over the top" when it comes to trying to make one's stay enjoyable.

The lobby smells. The room is VERY hot, the bed is comfy, but if you ask for two beds, you get one with a roll out bed, the shower doesn't drain good, the windows are hard to open, I saw multiple homeless people around the hotel, the people are somewhat friendly, and lastly there's only 1 elevator and it's very slow. The best part of the hotel is the location, and there's free food and drink, and a free breakfast. Also there's a good Italian food restaurant/bar down the street.

The place is being renovated. You couldn't even see the outside of the Hotel because of scaffolding and tents. They were setting up for Christmas first thing in the morning on 11-12-12 when we went for breakfast. Could not enjoy the other rooms provided for guest comfort because of decorating and noise level. YOU have to bring your ice bucket to the front desk where they get it for you. Parking is LIMITED, good luck getting a spot and when you get a spot and pay $20.00 for it your afraid to leave because it is NOT reserved for you. If you leave and come back and the parking spot is gone, too bad for you. The rooms also smell very musty, not like antiques. Chairs in room so uncomfortable. WI-FI spotty at best! Best part about the location is the liquor store across the street with sodas and snacks! Go some where else.

I can't help but feel like I was transported in to some sort of Jane Austin world when I am in this hotel. ~$150 for a queen bed, and a great location right next to Japan town and within walking distance of other great parts of town. A refreshing change to the typical hotel around Union Square.

Pretty smelly (musty, and lobby smells of wee). Rooms smell musty also, with pretty beaten up old furniture. The website doesn't entirely do it justice — nothing is as new as the website implies. But, it's cheap, well located, and pleasant enough. Also, free internet, which is pretty awesome.
