Super friendly staff. Great front desk managers. The hotel has a chief canine officer which is very cool. The location is great for a home base in SF and the amenities and quality of the hotel are on par with other similarly priced hotels. The only draw back are all the prostitutes behind the building and the countless vagrants surrounding the area. At night it can feel unsafe walking outside of the hotel. Aside from that, the place is a must visit in SF.

This is the second time staying here and both times it was great. However, I think they might have renovated the place which made it even more awesome! Their rooms are sleek and modern with plenty of space. Your room has its own doorbell too. You were greeted at the room by a stuffed animal toy dog named Buster who was their mascot? If you purchased the toy, proceeds went to a local humane society. Great for the kiddies and animal lovers too. To add, you can meet the actual dog on certain days (unfortunately we were not able to). I love this hotel, and it's reasonably priced without compromising the quality. I like their use of the dog as part of the brand. They also provide postcards which they can send for you for free.

Clean and chic hotel. Valet parking is $57/day. Pool and health club access is additional at $25 per room. Our keycards were not letting us into the health club so unfortunately we only were able to go once when someone else let us in. I asked at the lobby about it and I was told it was not added onto our room however it was on our bill for the first day when we checked in. Stocked fridge with drinks. Nightstand comes with 3 different chargers so you don’t even need to take yours out.

Everything was excellent! Service, decoration, comfortable beds, nice views (from the upper levels at least) … Everything you'd expect from a luxury hotel. Some of the rooms include a good breakfast (just avoid something called "nato", it comes in a white box and it's atrocious! :O) and access to the pool, jacuzzi, gym…

Very centrally located, and I had a large comfortable room. The room had a nice view of the city, with blinds that shut out all the light from outside. The bed and pillows were so comfortable, probably the best out of some of the other 4 star hotels I've been to. All the usual facilities are available, including hair dryer, bath robe, safe and laundry service. Service was great and staff were friendly. I've not had a chance to try the food or the gym though.

We're at Hotel Nikko for our first time. The experience so far has been exceptional. The staff has gone above and beyond. Quite pleased. Hotel is clean and every staff member I've come in contact with greets you with a smile!

Just checked in to the imperial club room on the 24th floor. All I have to say is, Best choice ever. I have never been to such a beautiful hotel previous to this one. The amenities are awesome. And can't wait to check out the lounge and buffet. Thank you hotel Nikko.

Great bed. Lights were overly difficult to turn off. Service was exquisite, they kept my room in top shape. I also attended a conference which went without a problem.

Great hotel in San Fran! I loved the rooms and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in at a hotel. All staff are very kind and friendly and will do everything to go beyond your expectations. I was even able to get late check out at no cost since my flight was leaving later in the afternoon. And don't forget to meet with Buster — the hotel puppy!

Decent location. Well kept rooms and comfortable beds. Could use a refresh for cosmetic reasons but otherwise a nice hotel at decent rate. Beautiful views from the meeting rooms and some overnight rooms that face the water. Hotel restaurant was only ok but there are many options in walking distance.

Great location, but that's where it ends. Hotel has no soul. Staff are robots and the fees are ridiculous. Was told I needed to pay $25 extra to see the pool. Room was small and had lots of things to purchase in the room including a selfie stick and a stuffed dog. There are way better options.

Very nice rooms and ideal location for this hotel within 2 steps of Union Square.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night in celebration of his 21st birthday. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Great location. Not a far walk from Market Street and right next to a huge shopping area. The service was outstanding! I love the amenities of this hotel. There is a restaurant, a bar, a Starbucks right next door with an entrance through the lobby, a heated pool, jacuzzi, fitness center, a sauna, a steam room, and, for pet owners, an outdoor patio with a grassy area for you to take your dog out to play. The room was very clean, spacious, modern, and quiet. There is a safe in the room, lots of storage space, mini fridge with a mini bar, huge shower, and tub. Also there is 24 hour room service. What made a huge impression on me was when I left my room to go get ice one of the maids saw me with my ice bucket in my hand and wasted no time in offering me a bag of ice from her cart. It may seem like such a small gesture but I think if the employees of an establishment go out of their way to take care of the small things then it means you won't be disappointed with how they approach the larger things. I am definitely returning to this hotel the next time I need a room in the city. Worth every penny. Stay here and you won't be disappointed.

The rooms were super clean and spacious. The service of all the magnificent employees. The Anzu restaurant has a good breakfast.

We stayed one night, in a queen petite room. Staff was very friendly and efficient! Room was clean, decor was modern and beautiful. The room was a little small but we did get the cheapest room. Definitely would come back again!

The rooms are not clean (toilet, hair in the drawers), the Wi-Fi included is a catastrophic slowness to entice customers to take the one paying (shameful practice today as to charge the Wi-Fi), no bar in the hotel… I highly recommend the only strong point is the pool and outdoor patio, otherwise, pass your way.

Top Hotel! Very clean and very stylish furnishings. Unfortunately the breakfast, parking, pool use is very expensive. Nevertheless definitely recommended.

Visited for a college alumni event. Not sure if the hotel provided catering, but catering was not great for such a large group, though it was yummy. Restrooms were nice and people at the door we're attentive. Can't really comment on anything more since I wasn't staying there. Good luck!

Hotel Nikko is a 4 star hotel that deserves all of the stars it got. The staff was very accommodating, the breakfast buffet spread was impressive, and the room was clean and modern in its layout. It also has an heated indoor pool that offers respite to the cold San Francisco weather. I would definitely go back to Hotel Nikko.

Great hotel, very clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Keep in mind that hotel loading/unloading is located on 180 Ellis. Google maps took me to another entrance, that did not have a loading/unloading zone.

Centrally located Hotel very close to Union Square. Large room, well equipped with 3 different types of pillows. Pets allowed.

Very pleasant stay. Room was immaculate, comfortable, and gorgeous. The restaurant and bar were stellar. The staff was helpful and friendly. I couldn't recommend Hotel Nikko more and I look forward to returning in future.

We had a spectacular and relaxing stay. Room was extremely spacious and beautifully appointed. Bathtub is extra deep for soaking. Club lounge was a great spit to watch the world series and offers a fantastic view of the city. Beer, wine and appetizers offered nightly and continental breakfast in the morning make club level a worthwhile upgrade. Service may be the best in the city. Has moved up to my first choice in the city.

Hotel of great elegance, right in the center of San Francisco, near the terminus of the cable car. When I pay about 250 $/night, I don't expect them to ask me $25 to use the gym and $25 for pool and spa. Madness. And in the process of booking this thing was not at all clear. The competition (see Hilton) does better.

Nice hotel. Text service is awesome. Great location. One watch out: amazing pool and patio is not included with some rooms. Also, early check-in has a fee and Wi-Fi is bad. But lots to love.

One thing I love is some awesome customer service. Jessica was awesome helping set up a little surprise for my boyfriend and was very attentive through email. The rooms are big and spacious, beds were very comfortable. The hotel was very clean and tidy. Parking was $46 but I mean it's SF. My two favorite things were the awesome waterfall shower head and the staff. I would definitely advise staying here.

Pleasantly friendly and upscale. You wouldn't have to throw our bedding or pajamas on the floor next to the bed. Everything else is very good.

Great Location. The rooms are nice and updated. We had drinks at their lounge, and it was the most amazing Old Fashion. My one complaint is they charge an extra fee to use their gym. That's ridiculous for a higher end hotel.

A very nice hotel. The room was on the smallish side, but was more then sufficient for my needs. It was also very close to shopping, restaurants and my conference. Staff was exceptional and courteous. My only complaint was that someone was doing housekeeping at 9pm on my floor. Luckily I was still awake.

The entrance on Mason St. Is accessible. The one on O'farrell St. Has a lift but no staff is waiting to assist a guest. No system to call the receptionist either. The wheelchair accessible room is available. The bathroom is big enough with bathtub. Also shower chair is available.

The staff was extremely pleasant and inviting. The restroom and lobby area were clean and elegant. The location is right in downtown, near many trendy (and expensive) shops and restaurants, if you're into that sort of thing. Otherwise, public transportation is readily accessible to get to better and slightly cheaper restaurants. Like most downtown areas, the streets are congested, one way, and difficult to navigate if driving. Expect to circle the area several times to get there.

I have a good memory of my visit to Nikko. I was there on a business trip. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. I did not have the opportunity to test the gym or pool. Only downside for me, the neighborhood that is far from being frequent at night…

Very good hotel, well located near Union Square and therefore all transportation and shops.

From the moment we arrived we received a high level of service. We were upgraded to a much nicer suite with an amazing view of the city. Alongside this, the room service was very timely and good, as well as the food in the restaurant in the hotel. All in all, I would definitely recommend coming here for anyone visiting San Francisco.

We stayed the weekend while my sister was in town visiting. We had a king corner room. The room was nice, bed was comfy, bathroom large, space in the fridge for our baby's milk. The corner rooms have floor to ceiling windows with great views, so I would recommend asking for one and on a higher level. Just try to avoid one facing the parking ramp. It is loud and the gate beeps all night long! The pool just reopened and was absolutely stunning and clean. Our 1 year old had so much fun. It's an extra $25 fee but worth it. We didn't use the Wi-Fi, just our own data, so I have no comment on the quality of internet speed. One issue we had, we were unable to access our room for 30 mins. Our keys didn't work, the new keys didn't work, and they eventually had to send the engineer up to fix the door. We were stuck sitting in the hall for 30 mins and needed to get our baby a bottle and to bed. I talked to front desk and they gave us free breakfast. Their breakfast buffet is pricey ($24 person) and was good, but not really worth the $24 price tag imo. But it was free so I'm not complaining. It would have been nice if they offered us a free night instead, since we live in the area we would have loved to come back, and our son loved the pool so much. We used a complementary crib and it was clean, but I recommend bringing your own baby blanket. It comes with one, but it was a little small. We accidentally packed it with his other blanket, so I'm mailing it back tomorrow. Sorry about that!

Gorgeous room — go for a high floor if you don't want to hear the street noise (SF is loud! ). Very good bathroom with a separate walk in shower and bath which I appreciated. Wifi was included in my room rate — so I don't know if the free Wi-Fi is any good. The premium Wi-Fi was fine. The breakfast buffet was ludicrously priced at over USD$30, there is a Starbucks in the lobby and plenty of nearby choices for breakfast. Dinner in the restaurant was disappointing — expected sushi and at least some fusion cuisine but it was rather ordinary. ALL the sushi seemed to contain shellfish/crab, so nothing suitable for vegetarian sushi fans or people with allergies. I had the 'crispy duck' which was ok but nothing exciting I'm afraid. Overall I felt the Nikko is a bit overpriced, but it was a pleasant stay and the room was very comfortable.

Pretty great hotel in a very good location. Close to the BART station and in the middle of the shopping area. Although it is a great and pleasant hotel, the Wi-Fi connection sucks. No more than 4 devices per room and you have to pay an additional charge to have a little bit faster internet. Unfortunately the swimming pool was closed because of renovation. The gym was ok, enough machines to get a good workout done!

Check in was a breeze, the clerk was very friendly, room is comfortable and bathroom has great amenities. We stayed here for NYE and although at first I was a little taken back that you have to wear your hotel wristband to get in after a certain hour, I greatly appreciate their effort of keeping the propety secure and free of room parties or drunk stragglers. The location is perfect for anyone looking to stay in or around union square! Hotel Nikko is a very chic, modern hotel. The bar/restaurant on the 2nd floor has a nice happy hour and super nice bartender! I will definitely stay here again.

The hotel is very nice.
If you have a car it is advisable to pay package of parking instead of paying parking per day.
The three stars are due to us seemed somewhat expensive, I don't think is justified both the price with the place.
We had the misfortune of staying when the pool was in repair.

Amazing hotel, the breakfast buffet is just hilarious.

This hotel belongs to a chain Japanese so we find certain Oriental details. Some of them are your breakfast, your Japanese toilet mug and reception delivering the card with both hands.
The room is very complete with bathrobe, slippers and coffee maker. Space is more European than American, but with correct dimensions.
The location is good but there are some areas to avoid the presence of homeless people around. Although that is not a problem.

My stay at this hotel was excellent, comfortable rooms, internet you have Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, impressive attention and the view of the city on the high floors has no comparison.

The room is very nice but the area leaves to be desired and walking in the evening there you realize it right away.

Excellent Hotel well located in San Francisco.
Very good reception of the staff that will always be available throughout the stay.
The overall décor is beautiful and the whole hotel is clean.
The room is very large and its setting friendly.
The bed is very comfortable as well as the pillows (no less than 6 pillows! ).
The bathroom is perfect, large bathtub, spacious shower and towels (in number) are very soft.
Perfect soundproofing.
Not tested the restaurant/bar/gym.
Note of 5/5 without hesitation.

I travel to SF once a month and have stayed in most major hotels. The Nikko is by far the best. The main feature is a large, warm, indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi that is rarely overrun by kids. This means a lot to me as I love the ability to swim and exercise quickly while traveling. The hotel service is great, the rooms are clean, the room service is high quality, there's a restaurant and a Starbucks in the hotel, and the location is extremely easy right in the middle of Union Sq.

I stayed at this Hotel Nikko SF. On Business travel 2 months ago for 4 nights and had a terrible experience. For the price of the small room I would of expected more. The bed was very poorly made, the sheets did not appear to be clean and the bed was very uncomfortable. It appeared that the carpet had not been vacuumed or cleaned in a very long time. I'm not one to complain but in this case because of the money spent I felt the need to share my experience so others do not stay here. My colleagues that stayed in SF in different Hotels had a much better experience than mine. Maybe the housekeeping staff was poorly scheduled the days I stayed, so maybe your stay will be better. Good Luck, but I personally will not be returning due to the price and quality. The one nice thing was having Starbucks close to the hotel as I love a hot cup of morning tea.

With so many great Hotels in SF, why did I select this one? Without a doubt this hotel was by far the grossest pool I have ever been in. I have seen public water-parks in better condition. The tile was moldy and dirty in general. The bottom of the pool was worn out and felt gritty. I should have worn water shoes. Then while I was lying on the lounge chair people were having their dog's excrement right behind me and not pick it up. Really? The intercontinental, SF is much cleaner and the staff and upper management, is by far more professional. How can they a have a 4star rating? That must be a mistake. Adieu.

This Hotel is an absolute nightmare. I stayed 4 nights on business travel. I’ve had better Wi-Fi service at Panera Bread than this place. When I explained to the assist general mgr. That their Wi-Fi was not very efficient, she looked at me as if I was on another planet, what’s Wi-Fi? I could not believe her lack of knowledge and rudeness. Basic, traditional rooms that are very overpriced. Research another hotel if you're considering booking this place for your next trip and paying full price. The A. G. M. Of the hotel (Jannee F. ) (s/p something close to this) was very unfriendly and angry, when asked to ck in early, she had such a bad attitude. For such a high class hotel the clothing policy must not pertain to her, she was just a complete slob. She must of rolled out of bed and went to straight to work with her shabby attire and attitude to go with! For the price of the Hotel, and just OK service I give it 1 star. Best thing about this Hotel is the Awesome Starbucks! P. S. The hotel confirmed the spelling — Jeanne Ferrari — avoid her at all cost.

A very friendly staff. Close to public transportation. Walgreens in walking distance for anything you might have forgotten. Would definitely stay there again.

Very nice hotel with an actually "friendly" Starbucks downstairs. I kept the "Do Not Disturb" door tag the 2 nights so can't necessarily comment on room service. But the bed was perhaps the most comfortable I've ever slept on for a hotel-similar to Fairmont. My room consisted of 2 queen beds, a bathroom with a tub and separate shower, smaller closet. Reception desks and concierge were nice. The reason for 4 star was because of the price thankfully I don't have a car otherwise that would've been $60 p/night parking.

Very nice hotel. Good service, nice overall style with japanese influence. The room had very comfortable beds and a bathroom with separate shower and bathtub (although the bathtub was a bit small) even in a low rate room. Did not try the hotel restaurant, but it seemed very nice. The bar had great bartenders and nice atmosphere. Only a block from Macy's and Union Square, the location is great. The only thing pulling the rating down is there was no free Wi-Fi, not even in the lobby. At $15.95/day it's a bit steep (although if you book a suite or via their website, it's complimentary).

My family and friends have stayed here over the years and have loved every minute of it. The front desk was very help with recommendations of what to do nearby and what to see in the city. The rooms were immaculate and I have no reservations about recommending this place to other people.

This is a great hotel to stay in downtown San Francisco. Very nice employees and great rooms. It is well located close to various transportation hubs. It is also a good value. Highly recommended.

I state here for 3 nights with my wife. Here's the pros and cons: + clean room + nice location — Wi-Fi charge for $15.99? And no complementary Wi-Fi even in lobby. Why should I pay $15.99 for sending a FB message to families telling them we arrived hotel safely? — extremely unhappy experience with receptionist. Here's the complete story: I asked front desk if I can mail package to my room and was told that's allow — NOBODY mentioned it's NOT free. Later I was charged $6 for receiving package without my knowledge. My wife and I argued with manager but was suggested by the gentleman receptionist "reading every sentence written on our website". Fine. I can afford staying at ur hotel for over $200 a night, so can I afford the $6 package fee. What makes me angry is that they charge guest without notice. That's how you perform robbery in a legal, civilized way. This is the most horrible experience during our trip to San Francisco. Love SF, hope next trip we'll find a hotel without being robbed. I recommend staying here if you want convenient location, clean room, have too much money and wanna pay $15.99 for Wi-Fi (NO free Wi-Fi in lobby), and possibly pay for whatever without notice.

Super unprofessional! Stayed here in August in a junior suite. Super small room and the shower heads didn't work. Called the concierge no answer. Bell desk no answer. Front desk no answer. Next day had the "shhhh" sign on the door and the maid asked when she could come clean our room. We told her, "don't clean it, its fine were leaving tomorrow. " She cleaned it while we were gone when we told her not to. We then ordered some food and a nice man brought it up. I went to take a shower, came out BUTT NAKED and there was an Asian lady standing in our room! She didn't knock or ring the bell she just let herself in the room and brought us a card with the current weather on it. It's obviously cloudy, I have the shades open! So disappointed that for 2grand we had this awful experience. The manager didn't care about us either, she wouldn't even call to apologize. The intercontinental is by far a better hotel, With far nicer employees.

Great location and pleasant experience. I stayed here the night before the Nike Women's (half) Marathon in 2013. It was a great location, right next to Union Square, but not in it. Marble steps or an escalator lead you to the lobby where I recommend trying the pink San Francisco taffy. Everything is sleek and clean and is quiet despite being in the middle of the bustling city. Right outside you can also pick up a Zip Car for a tour around the city.
