Nicely decorated room, clean and comfortable bed BUT I can hear EVERYTHING from the room next to me and the hallway. Video below shows how loud it is in general. The earplugs help but don’t block out everything.

Nice hotel that is close to Union Square. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. The room was small but this is expected for a hotel room in San Fran. The staff were very helpful and the hotel offered free Wi-Fi which is refreshing.

My favourite hotel in San Francisco that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Hipster interior. Quiet enough while still being super central to downtown San Francisco. I accidentally dropped ID nearby and the staff returned it to me. Honest staff. Great hospitality. Highly recommended!

Can't quite give the hotel a 4 star. Solid 3 stars. The walls are thin and the floors are hardwood. The beds are comfortable, albeit stained. They gouge you on the fees, but the location is excellent.

Nice hotel, staff was super friendly and accommodating. The building is over 100 yrs old, everything has been updated but there's still a lot of character. Room was basic but had everything we needed. Cool decor in room & bathroom. Window air-conditioning unit was loud, even with just the fan on. We were on the 6th floor so not much street noise. Lots of great restaurants nearby.

It's okay. Nothing bad, but nothing fancy either. The room was clean and neat, and the staff are nice. One noticeable drawback was the noise you easily get from the room nextdoor, and the outside; I don't personally have an issue with that, but I imagine this might be a deal breaker for some people. However, they do provide ear plugs! Also, there was no sugar and creamer for the coffee at all!

Great price for a unique hotel room with character. Staff was friendly and the room was enjoyable. A lot of space, a fair bathroom and again, it was very cheap for a great room!

One of the most reasonably priced hotels on a saturday night, modern, clean and funky. Loved the deep tub in the bathroom. Staff super friendly. Great location.

Great place to stay in the centre of town. Bed was really comfortable. The gym was nice. Entrance was beautiful, very modern chic.

It's too pricey for the quality of the hotel… We pay over $300 a night and the wall is so thin that you can hear people talking/moving on the hall way from inside the room. Though the hotel is really clean. Gotta give the cleaning crew a big thumb up.

Well, at least it's clean – if you catch that thought upon checking to a hotel, it's a pretty bad sign. The hotel building is old, the room is simple and far from being fantastic, it could use some renovation and better styling. However, the central location of the hotel is convenient for anyone who has any business in downtown San Francisco, and the relatively low room prices offset the downsides, if you don't mind the frugal, almost Spartan room.

Wow, I am always so impressed with the quality of service at Hotel G! Ricardo is especially noteworthy; he always has a smile on his face and radiates positivity. He is kind and helpful, which makes booking Hotel G a no-brainer every time I’m in town. Love these guys!

The Hotel is in a awesome location for shopping! Right in the middle of Union Square. The hotel is subpar. The rooms are extremely small. The hotel includes a additional $25 dollars per day for access to the amenities, which are not great by the way. Also, our bathroom smelled of sewage and mildew. The wood plank flooring was practically coming up from the floor as we walked around our room. I would not be staying again. I rather pay the cost for a nicer hotel.

I'd put five. It is spectacular the hotel, the location also and the attention the same. But today that Airbnb gains ground, hotels charge you a fortune and do not give you a muffin breakfast, and the minibar you charge as caviar.

The entrance was a little deceptive on our arrival in September 2017, but we found out later renovations were in progress. In any case, our room was spotless and very comfortable, and the staff we encountered were friendly, very helpful and courteous. The Hotel is very central, and I would recommend Hotel G to anyone visiting San Francisco. If we ever get back to the States again, and San Francisco is on the itinerary, Hotel G will be our choice. Great location, good value, would return. Location — One block from Union Square, nice because your not in all congestion around Union Square but still super close. Everything Union Square is within walking distance. Room — On the smaller side, but large by SF standard. Had a king bed and still plenty of space around room. A little dark, but went with the historic/modern theme of the hotel. Hallways and rooms have hardwood floors, so noise transfers easily. Your in the city, so normal city noise gets into the room. Parking — Hotel supposedly has valet, but couldn't find the valet people the first night. Realized the O'Farrell garage (private self parking garage) was across the street and just parked there. O'Farrell has a hotel special of $39 (including tax) per day for hotel guests in the area. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't bother trying to valet at the hotel, save $30 a day and park yourself.

Disappointing to say the least, for the money. Over $600 for 2 night stay. We selected a "suite" or deluxe room and when we arrived there wasn't even a carpet. Just concrete with an area rug to try to cover it. The 'amenities' were sparse as well. No liners in the bucket that's supposed to be a garbage can and we were not expecting to be nickle and dimed, either. Beds and pillows not comfy, and there was a lot of city noise both inside and out. They DID provide ear plugs for the occasion… Elevator sounds ragged and rooms/hallways were a lot smaller than advertised. I don't recommend it. The only good thing about it is the location. Close to everything downtown.

This place is noticeably clean, and staff are really friendly. They tried to help us to get the lowest price possible, and they were really helpful to point us to the right place to wash our clothes, and to the eateries nearby. The location is great (I found it by searching “Safe hotel San Francisco” and it was listed in TripAdvisor). The area is feels safe, at least safe enough for a tourist to walk out and get food at mid-night (which is rare). The hotel is right next to Union Square, with everything you need nearby! Would love to come back and stay here again.

All the people there are super nice and always helpful. They have a small gym on the second floor. I would ask to have a room on the top floor since it is very loud because it is right at the union square. The suits have a nice size and everything is decorated very modern.

Great service, rooms and the bed were very comfortable! The only I didn't like was that they didn't serve breakfast! But other than that, they were great thanks guy's.

Got a last minute room here on a Saturday night and it was really comfortable and convenient. We parked a block or so away (didn't use hotel valet) and popped into Jack in the box on the way back. Despite it being St Patrick's day and the hotel being located close to the parade and many bars, the hotel was quiet. Room was chic&clean, bed comfy, bathroom clean and functional, toiletries were ok, TV worked and had lots of channels. The best part was being able to have a late checkout free of charge and the location really was unbeatable and convenient. I also like that they provided us a couple bottles of boxed water (2 for free when we checked in, and 2 in the room for a charge) because I don't like plastic packaging!

Best decision to stay here. The price was reasonable, the room was large and comfy and very chic. Location awesome! Good service too! I hope to be back here one day.

The hotel is very well located, the rooms are very good size, there is 24hrs gym, no breakfast included but there is espresso machine and minibar. Everything is very well only change the lighting of the bathroom, it takes more light in the mirror. Excellent service!

The hotel is much nicer than you'd expect for a budget hotel. The only downside is no room service. The rooms are very chic. There are some places where they could improve (a nice tub), but for the money you're getting a deal in this area.

Great location. However, the lack of service is extremely noticeable. For example, there was no microwave in the room. We had to request 3 — 4 times to get it delivered to our room. We needed to do some laundry, the reception staff directed us to a laundry-mat that was closed months ago… Would recommend for very short stays and just need a place that is in the city centre.

The room was decent. The bathroom a little small. It is unique and cool. I'd stay again.

Good hotel, nothing superb. So please note — my 3 stars is not a negative reflection for the hotel. Rather the price we paid for the 2 nights we stayed ($466/night), was what garnered the stars. It must have been an incredibly busy Tuesday, I called around all the hotels the week before and every single one of them with a double bed was booked. Except Hotel G, which was great. So in desperation we booked. The room was nice, quiet and the bed was comfy. A bit sparse, $4 for water (so that wasn’t offered) … but they did offer you coffee and tea. Only comment is, as we went up the elevator, my colleague and I couldn’t help but notice the faint smell of weed in the elevators and near our rooms. We’re from Vancouver so we definitely know what pot smells like. Curious as the hotel has a no smoking policy.

A bit tatty in places but I guess they would say that's intentional — part of the 'shabby chic' aesthetic. Generally fine, comfy bed, nice big telly, good shower, etc. Location is excellent. Wi-Fi is solid. There's a gym and a bar, apparently, but I haven't used 'em. Good customer service when something went wrong with my dry cleaning bill. I personally find the $75 dollar a night hold on my credit card a bit unnecessary, especially given that they took payment for my stay in full, upfront and two months before my stay.

One of the joys of San Francisco is finding boutique hotels like this gem. Built in 1908, renovated in 2014. This place has class and sass. Excellent design, true to history, great staff, nice gym and a perfect location.

Cool design, great location and large room. We had a quiet room (1115 on the 11th floor). It was quiet but no view. I didn't love the hairs in the bathroom from the cleaner. Not enough shelf or counter space in the bathroom for 2 people. There was no breakfast or room service and the bar was closed when we wanted to go (Sunday). I missed some kind of social space to hang out, have a drink, charge your phone and plan your day.

We had quick and friendly service at Hotel G. Our room was stocked with more than to be expected amenities including a pod coffee machine. The bed was very comfortable. Wood floor s we're great, but a little creeky. Check out was very easy. Great location next to Union Square. Would come again.

Rooms are well furnished, tastefully decorated. Bed was comfortable, but the pillows were a little flat. The hotel is walking distance to pretty much everything.

A small, boutique-like hotel very close to Union Square. The room, though small, was very nice, quite comfortable and surprisingly quiet for the busy neighborhood. The style and decor evoke a grander time.

We really liked the room. Good queen beds. Clean and well managed. Building is a bit old, but they've done a good job modernizing their setup and services.

Hotel G is a good stay for a mid price affordable boutique hotel. The rooms are nice and comfy, staff is super welcoming, and it it's located a block from SF's union square. The downside, the rooms are not noise isolated, you can hear outside noises easily, also there is no breakfast/dinner service. Good stay for a one person/couple room. See for yourself. PS: props for the clever suggestive funny signs.

Very satisfied with the staff's service and clean rooms. It's a very good location of you are visiting the city for business or sight seeing. The price I paid was lower than comparable hotels in the area. The vibe of the hotel is contemporary. My room was on the 10th floor and it was larger than other hotel rooms I've stayed at in the same range. Overall very happy I stayed here and will come back when I visit again.

Very modern and stylish rooms. They are not big, part but cozy and quite sufficient for a city break. Perfectly located at Union Square. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I would come back anytime.
The hotel restaurant was either not open at the time or very poorly attended. However, there are plenty of alternatives in the area.

Hotel G is one of the better hotels on Geary and probably the best one next to Union Square. The rooms are small, but cozy. Decor is unique and modern. My only issue is how easy it is for noise to permeate through the building. Also, the cleaning staff could be more on point. I've found hair and garbage along the bed frame and behind tables. No bed bugs though. Thank goodness.

I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience at Union Square's Hotel G! From check in (OMG — the *friendliest* desk agent ever! ), to room style (loved the Restoration Hardware meets mid-century modern style), to location — every element was spot-on. JR is a superstar and made us feel welcome every time we were coming and going. We wanted to tuck him in our suitcases and take him home with us! Thanks, Hotel G. I'll definitely recommend you whenever I can!

I found this place via hotwire and was excited to stay downtown for such a great rate which is a great plus — but then there is no self parking options unless you find a spot on the street, the valet parking fee is $51 + taxes and fees which ends up being $58/NIGHT! that's about half the room rate itself (i find that absurd). There are a lot of stairs in all entrances to the building and the lobby area seems very chic but borderline too plain and not very welcoming. The check in process was quick and easy. I do like that there are a lot of elevators and they all are very fast (plus). The rooms were fair in size, nothing spectacular or anything to rave about. But what I didn't like is that there were many bars and clubs outside of our window. So the noise of horns honking, cars revving, people yelling and screaming kept me up all night til about 3am. So it's great that its literally in the heart of the city. But the downside is all the noises. Cars driving by is expected but club people are loud and rowdy. The constant d-bags that feel the need to rev their expensive cars is obnoxious, car alarms are just annoying. So it's just not the place for me but it'd be great if you were a night owl and wanted to stay out all night or you're a heavily sleeper this is the place for you.

Location is perfect, with it being so close to Union Square and public transportation. This does mean it can be a little noisy outside, but not too bad. The room is nice enough, and of a reasonable size.

The location was very central and the rooms were modern & comfortable. We only stayed one night and checked in late but the facilities we used were very good and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Great customer service. Everything we needed was provided for by the concierge. From free bottled water to a microwave. Very clean rooms as well.

The rooms themselves were very nice, but the service from the hotel staff left something to be desired. As we approached the check in counter the employee who called us up got visibly upset for a reason we couldn't discern. He checked us into one of our two rooms then dismissed us and seemed unwilling to help us further. We eventually got it straightened out, but had to wait through a long line again to do something that should have been done the first time. Which after an 10 hour drive seemed like torture honestly.

I have never felt more pampered. Where do I begin? The showers? The room service? The view? The valet parking? The spa? Even just the shower and bath fulfilled a lifelong dream of mine to take a bath that covered my knees and my breasts. There is not a bad word to share about the 4 seasons and millions I could share. Go for yourself.

Conveniently located at Union Square so close to public transportation stops. Staff has been extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms are nice. Great all around hotel for the price.

Great boutique and funky hotel with built in restaurant and burger joint. Great Union Square location next to the St. Francis hotel. A whole different and relaxed feel!

Very nice looking and luxurious hotel. My only bad experience was the staff who helped me. I'm not sure if all of the staff are that way but the front desk person appeared very rude and uncooperative. I found the hotel a bit too expensive as well.

Very cool factory vibe. TV situation not GREAT but not problematic. Bed oddly low but very comfortable. Overall very happy with it. Front desk staff A+, very nice.

Nice place for events. Really enjoyed the outdoor space on the 5th floor outdoor patio. Great rooms for speaker events of small, medium, and up to a considerable size.

Great rooms, service, and fabulous food. Honestly every meal from snacks to room service was top notch. Held a conference here and it was smooth sailing. I would come back and stay here again in a heartbeat.

Two lobbies. Valet driveway a bit hard to get to since not on a main street behind hotel but easy if you have correct address to navigate. Good meeting space and large ballroom space that all have good size prefunction areas. Impeccable service from David Robinson, Director of Catering.

Brunch menu items are reliably delicious. Also love the bloody Mary. It's also got a great view of some classic SF market street buildings. The staff didn't try to hurry us out even after they'd closed for brunch, so we were able to catch up a while longer.

Excellent hotel in a great location. No breakfast included but there are plenty of nearby restaurants (I'd recommend the Pinecrest Diner across the road). The Wi-Fi is ok. You can pay $9.99 for triple the speed but the free Internet should be fine for most people.

Staying on 12th floor. Great room and had a discounted group price. Comfy bed, nice bathroom. Ok Wifi. Close to things central I. Sf.

I stay at hotel G every time I'm in San Francisco. Great location by the square. Friendly staff, clean rooms, and the most comfortable hotel beds I've found.

Very bad since they did not let me return items. They should inform that at purchase time. In the US, it's a customer service practice to let purchased items be returned. And they never did.

The location is excellent, right next to Union Square. This place is in the heart of the action. The downside to this is that you can hear music from the nearby nightckubs in some of the rooms late at night. The rooms are very minimalist, with not enough thought put into the placement of furniture, lamps, electrical outlets, and the TVs. The rooms could use some more cheerful decor. The concrete floors do not exude coziness. The beds are very comfortable and the staff is very friendly.

Only complaint was I noticed how dusty the sheets were, ex: slap your hand down on the comforter and a cloud of dust appears. staff at the front desk were helpful and quick. The room itself was nicely furnished. And the bathroom was on point.

Our room was not serviced on Saturday. I went down to the front desk at about 3:30 pm and discussed this matter with them. I informed them that we would like to have the room serviced 1st thing in the morning on Sunday. My wife was in the room at this time on Saturday relaxing and I didn't want somebody going in the room disturbing her. On Sunday we returned to the hotel at about 3 o'clock pm and when we entered the room to our amazement once again, nothing had been done. So here we are 2 days into our stay and not once has housekeeping serviced our room. Meanwhile across the hall in room 715, that room was serviced both days. I know because my brother was staying there. So I marched down stairs to the front desk again and asked to speak with a manager. I was told that the manager was not available because she was on her lunch break. So later I came back and spoke with Laarni Ayson, the manager. She stated that she was looking into the matter and was trying to figure out what happened. I already knew what happened! For the 2nd day in a row somebody dropped the ball and didn't service our room after I requested it being done 1st thing Sunday morning. Later on we went out for the night and while we were gone the room was serviced for the 1st time since when we checked in on Friday afternoon. Unfortunately for me and my wife, our stay was not perfect and when I pay for a service I like to receive it.

V cool place, fun, great dive bar and restaurants, good location. Trendy & boutique but not 5 star sumptuous.

Small rooms, well located but very much below what it can be, there are hotels of the same price that are far superior.

Great hotel, great location, friendly staff, everything is nickel. A must.
