This place was terrible. We expected it to be decent considering the location and the previous ratings. No one greeted us, wait it gets better… when we asked the first person we saw they nodded and said sure I’ll let “them” know. Not sure what that meant, but eventually when we made our way to check in, someone took our car. My husband is highly allergic to feathers unfortunately, it’s never a huge issue to just change out the bedding at most hotels. He unfortunately gets fevers and sick almost instantly, so we always have to notify as soon as we check in or prior to. We told the front desk and went to dinner. Needless to say the bedding wasn’t changed when we returned. Wait it gets better… when we asked the front desk or any staff we could find, no one wanted to help us, they literally said they wouldn’t be able to differentiate the pillows in the storage area… I have never come across a hotel where I’ve paid this amount of money to stay, that responded to a request like this. TWO HOURS LATER and that was only because we went into the storage and retrieved it ourselves… something as simple as changing the bedding was the most complex task ever for the entire staff of this establishment. In addition to entire the mission we had to conquer, no one apologized or even regarded the situation. Ive never seen such an unprofessional way of handling a customer’s requests at a hotel with this supposed rapport.

I like the location and I like the room. It was really big. I like the window that opened it to let in the fresh air and the sounds of the city. I like the piano bar that was in the lobby. The people were nice and I had a great stay. I would definitely stay there again.

I have to stay for 11 days. Today is my first day and so far is almost perfect. The downside is that there is not complementary breakfast. However the view is nice, the room is super clean a huge. The bed is soft as all hotel beds. I would prefer something more firm but anyway. It is fine. The hotel is located in steeped hill. The entrance is not on the hill which is nice. I didn't drive so I don't know anything about car accommodation.

Absolute recommendation in San Francisco! Very friendly staff, excellent service, large rooms, very comfortable beds, delicious breakfasts. Great central location, 1a views and an award-winning spa — what more could you want? We are thrilled and happy to come back. 5 stars!

This hotel is really nice. The location is great because you’re within walking distance to several restaurants, cafe’s and “main attractions”. I also liked that it’s right across the street from a small park. The rooms are cozy, clean and quite large. The only downside is that the gym is very small (it’s basically a small room that they turned into a gym). It has 1 elliptical and a treadmill or bicycle (can’t recall exactly which), and then a bench with some weights. Service was great, and I would stay here again in the future.

Stayed here for our wedding. This is an old hotel that has so much character and class. From the doorman ushering you in, to the front desk staff, this place is simply elegant and awesome. The room was huge and well appointed, with great views of the city below and bay in the distance. The bed was extremely comfortable. One thing that really surprised me, especially for such an old hotel, was that we were right next to the elevator and never heard it operate. The rooms were very quiet and well insulated from the noises. Being right next to the stairs, you could hear the laughter coming from the first floor, as it traveled up the stairwell. Even on the ninth floor, it sounded like the talk and laughter was coming from just around the corner. HOWEVER, the moment we entered our room and shut the door… silence. Love this place!

Great location on top of Nob Hill! We stayed for a concert at the Masonic. From the moment we stepped in, we felt taken care of. The only trouble I had was with the garage next door but they are not owned by the hotel. The room was comfy and spacious and looked out over the Masonic, Grace cathedral and the city. Lovely view though the window was a bit dirty.

First time in SF and this was the perfect place to stay. Everyone was very nice and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Location was great, rooms are spacious, beds are super soft, and the bar was great! Will stay here again if ever in SF.

Great place. Got a free upgrade because I booked through my cc's program. The junior suite was a really big room! The hotel bar was like taking a step back in time and my girlfriend loved the facial she got at the hotel's spa.

The Scarlett is a beautiful boutique hotel on Nob Hill. Our suite was extravagantly appointed and had every luxury you could hope for. The close proximity to Grace Cathedral and Huntington Park was a plus, as well, as walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. The Big 4 restaurant was excellent! I did not utilize the Spa this trip, but definitely will the next time we visit. I highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

This is a great hotel. Hip decor, very friendly service. The doormen are very nice. Big Four bar and restaurant is great. Bed is fantastic and the rooms are large. Only complaint is that you can hear neighbor conversations like they are sitting in your room.

My first visit to this lovely hotel yesterday and I had quite a comfortable stay. The lobby is quite inviting with their long red couch. The decor is well appointed with such regal colors. The Concierge and Front Desk Staff are very polite and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable. We were in a room that adjoined another room with Friends and I got to see a one with two double beds and one king bed. One suggestion I could make would be for the double bed room to have a table for a lady to fix her hair and put makeup on. Bathrooms had all the necessities for one's stay. The views are great since you are on top of the hill. I did not get to see the pool area but Friends said it was quite good. One hotel we will return to.

Big 4 was perfect for a holiday dinner. Terrific food (outstanding french onion soup) and service. Quiet enough for a lovely conversation in a group of 6. Highly recommend for a special occasion like Christmas.

Great hotel. Small but lovely. I could have stayed in there bed for a month. Super comfy, very fussy with my pillows but no need to bring any. Small bar with live music. Did not go in. Coffee good. Very pleasant stay. Expensive but worth it. We just happened to get a great price due to time of week and season. You could walk by and think nothing of the place and may not even notice it. No actual hotel parking. Just a couple doors down a lot BUT 40.00 no in or out and 45 in and out privileges for day.

This was one of the best overnights stays I have ever experience in a hotel in San Francisco. I loved every bit of this overnighter from the drive up to the hotel to actually check out, A-1 service, a must-see, a must-visit, I will definitely go again, loved it!

Good Location. Good Service. Room door was loose so that when anyone on the floor would open their door, our door would thump loudly against the door frame. Maybe something to do with air pressure? Anyways, I had to prop pillows against the door and paper in between door & frame to prevent thumping. No big deal, but not what I wanted to do on a vacation.

Great hotel for a weekend getaway in the city. Staff is friendly. Rooms and large and decor is upscale and modern. Spa has a sauna which is available to all guests, which is amazing. The doormen are super friendly and willing to lend a hand or hail you a cab. I was fortunate to have a corner room which had incredible views of the city.

Nice hotel but too expensive for the benefits. Comfortable and spacious room. Restaurant/Bar The "Big 4" of the hotel is historic and very charming and you eat very well.

Every single staff member was amazingly friendly and accommodating. Jason (who knew my name immediately and every time) and Jarvis at the door, I could talk to Ursula (the driver) for hours, & Les at the front desk… just to name the names I remember. My room was amazing, lots of windows and light with a view of the dog park and church. Love the church bells & watching the dogs frolic. Im not sure if it is family run but it feels like it and most of the staff I spoke to have been there for many many years… so if its not a family I would love to know what corporation has the ability to run such an amazing hotel! I cant explain the feeling, you just have to experience it for yourself. Thank you Huntington for a great trip.

Excellent hotel. Fantastic service, great rooms, had a super view of the park and the bay. Valet parking is $59 a night, with unlimited in/out. Didn't eat or drink in the restaurant, or even use the spa. Heard the spa is awesome, so next time I am in SF we will stay here and try the spa out. Highly recommend the Scarlet.

We had a wonderful time here! We almost didn't want to leave the room to go to our show! But I'm glad I saw the show ;) but the room was beautiful! Very clean and large! The staff was so kind and friendly! It was such a fancy place without being stuffy. We asked questions and they were so nice with their responses like extra towels and instead of being snarky they were very good with their response of "the spa has extra, so you will be ok" of course if we really wanted more they would give us them but I thought that was a nice response when they could have said it differently — if that makes sense. But really all in all our experience was wonderful and we will definitely be coming back! And going to the spa! Thank you for being an awesome hotel! I'll be telling my friends and family :)

Very central location to visit SF. Very comfortable Rooms The South Side view is magical.
The free spa is appreciated after a good day's sightseeing.

Great hotel and location, but the decor after their remodel is quite tacky.

Bar has live music, good cocktails, and decent bar food. Very old style American bar but good service and very relaxed.

We've stayed here twice and will most certainly stay again. Awesome staff, big, comfortable and updated rooms and a perfect location. 5 stars all the way around.

My family had a lovely stay at the Scarlet Huntington! Everything we needed was provided for, and everyone from doorman to reception to housekeeping provided exceptional service. The room was impeccably furnished and the view of the park and of Grace Cathedral were fantastic! We hope to return some day, and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good boutique hotel that provides excellent service and amenities.

Excellent small boutique hotel in a good location with tram stop directly opposite hotel. Nice big rooms with comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. The Big 4, restaurant and bar, has a nice old world charm feel to it especially with the piano player, cocktails are nice. Free Wi-Fi only in the lobby. Indoor pool with a good view with a small attached gym.

Old world meets modern with a zen appeal. Everyone is friendly, especially the housekeeping staff.

Recently renovated to a crisp clean detail. Rooms spotless and very comfortable. Bar uniquely old SF with dark wood and classic period details. House staff and Bar staff outstanding! Would not hesitate to stay here again and often.

We had a fabulous stay at the Huntington. The service was really great — kudos to Ulysses and Cornelius in particular. The rooms have an understated, old-school elegance. The bed was terrific. If you get a chance, have a drink in the Big Four; very old San Francisco.

Very poor stay. We booked through Small Luxury Hotels of the World and chose the hotel as it claimed to be a classic hotel with a modern twist. The room was basically an apartment with a tiny bathroom and kitchen. Both had fittings from the 60's and the room smelt musty. We asked for another room (maybe it's just room 304) and were told they'd sort it out the next day but didn't. The restaurant was out of action for our entire 3 night stay. The spa was better but again very dated. This hotel needs a complete refit and it will be amazing.

That "valet parking" in SF for granted now is, you can not blame the hotel. The doormen with regard to parking the car and still the bright spot were the removal of the luggage. Check-in and check-out were courteous and totally impersonal. You told us the amount we paid for the room reservation in advance to a deposit. But, the Abbrechnung was finally right. The bar is covered in (black) wood and leather seating was as it had been revised in 1925 the last time. The pasted the table where we sat in the bar, it should be mentioned only on the edge. The ordered cocktails were really big only at the prices. The wing was playing live musicians playing his only result in you could entertain only still screaming. The room was clean and well furnished (which I expect but at least at a 5 star hotel). As already indicated we had fun with the guys at the entrance while we waited for our car.
