This hotel was very disappointing. They were not willing to do anything to make our stay welcoming. Everything from making us check out to check back in because of an error in booking to having a workman ask if he could do work while we were in our room. No water was provided and needed to pay if we wanted it. Would not give us a meal discount voucher when they made a mistake on the date of ours. Very disappointed. Always trusted Marriott before.

Rooms were very clean and nothing was missing (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, coffee, tea, sugar. Creamers, etc). Beds were comfortable Hotel is located in the central part of San Francisco within walking distance from everywhere.

Location is awesome. Staff is amazing. But parking is ridiculous high.

So far…. And we just checked in 3 hours ago…. The staff is extraordinary. I felt welcomed immediately. The concierge Sean is awesome.

Great location. Walked to the pier from where I was staying. I called room service for an extra blanket and towel and had it up to my room in no more than 5 min after I called.

I just arrived and I stay at many Marriotts but the service we have received during our short stay has been exceptional in San Fran. Rachel who helped us check in and Nasser at the car valet were both terrific. I cannot thank them enough for their super service.

Amazing staff! Specifically, Beatriz made our arrival incredibly special. She communicated via mobile app and had birthday surprises waiting in our room. As Marriott Bonvoy members we felt appreciated at check in. The hotel is lovely and location is great. 10/10!

Ramy was professional, friendly, caring, and helpful. He went out of his way to make our stay comfortable during our overnight stay. Our assigned room was far from the elevator and my sister, age 75 was having leg pain and difficulty waking so far. He immediately took us back to the elevator sitting area, called the front desk to arrange for a room closer to the elevator, then let us in, thus we did not have to go back to the lobby to get the new key. He also went out of his way, the next day, to ensure we got to our excursion on time by taking our bags, having our car waiting, he packed the car, had it returned to valet then got the hotel wheel chair and pushed her a half a block from the hotel to meet our Tour Guide. His dedication to service was impressive and outstanding. We are forever grateful. A million thanks for having such a fabulous employee who greatly represents your Brand in a professional dedicated way. Not common today.

We enjoyed our stay at Marriott Fisherman’s Wharf. The location was great and easy to walk to piers and Ghirardelli Sq. Hotel and room was clean and up to date. Beds comfy. Staff was friendly. The concierge, Shah, was exceptional. He was so helpful and kind. He felt like an old friend when we left! Awesome vacation!

In the beginning my experience was amazing. That was until I got to the desk to check out. Not sure if its because it was so early but the staff was not friendly at all. Then once in the shuttle I noticed I left a unopened bottle of wine and my apple AirPods. So of course I used Find My iPhone and tracked them at the hotel. I called the hotel and was told the lost and found didn’t have them. So I called back and spoke with the manager. Not only are my AirPods missing but the unopened bottle of wine (according to the manager) was also suppose to be turned into lost and found. Someone has now synced my AirPods to their device because they are no longer showing up on my phone. Being honest is clearly a thing of the past.

Had a wonderful experience at check in with a very friendly and cheerful staff member. Great room, good wine at happy hour and breakfast in the morning were greatly appreciated.
Top notch hotel!

This hotel does not merit category 9. During my stay, the lounge was closed over the weekend. All Marriott properties offer extra points for this. Nothing was credited from you in terms of points. Breakfast in the lounge… Horrible choice and shabby offer. Greed is the definition of the hotel management. I went for breakfast only once. Hotel’s unionized staff in the front desk did not give any attention. Every single time I approached the reception, they were asking me if I as checking in. Really? They did not even look at me to memorize my 30 days stay?! No slippers. No bath robe. I did not have a bag of tea in my room… I had to ask for it. The cleaners did not memorize the way I place my rubbish bin, every single time it was changed and in one month that I stayed there… there was plenty of chances to learn about me and provide me with 5 star service. All I got was bad Holiday In Express service… Incredibly sad! Disappointing! Underappreciative! All I got from your hotel was what I booked. So I paid for it. Nothing of my loyalty to Marriott group was recognized. Truly disappointing. No stars can be given to this property and I’d recommend the readers of this review not to book the hotel.

For rewards members, this hotel makes it well worth your while. Located in a gorgeous area. Rooms are adequate. Checkin staff is outstanding. Great housekeeping.

I have stayed at a lot of Marriott Hotels. This one on my scale was at a 4. It was pretty good, until I was awoken in the middle of the morning due to construction. But anyways, this hotel was good.

Rented a room here recently. The beds were comfy and we promptly received our extra blankets and pillows after requesting them. Only downside was the room was super cold and the blankets weren't particularly thick, so it was chilly. Very spacious and clean though!

The start of our stay was a little rocky as there was an issue getting our room but after that was lovely. The bar had great drinks (we got a bloody Mary, vodka Tonic, vodka redbull and a bottle of beer). The wait staff was polite, helpful and quick with service. The bellhop and valet we're all very polite and professional and the rooms were clean and well kept. Best part, it was within walking distance of plenty of bars and restaurants!

I normally write reviews about negative experiences but I have to make an exception. Our first interaction was with the bellman, who was very helpful and friendly and truely cared about making our stay a wonderful one. He (I wished I could remember his name) was working on Sunday, July 1st 2018 at 530PM. While I scrambled to return my rental to Mason street before 600PM he provided directions to the nearest gas station and return facility. He also helped my wife and daughter check in and get the luggage up to the room. I originally selected this hotel based on its location but will select it in the future based on the this man's efforts to make our vacation a special one!

Perfect location and amazing view. I got upgraded to a junior suite and the view from the 20th floor was incredible. Breakfast was good with fresh fruits options. The only complaint is that the windows are not very sound proof and we can still hear people yelling on the streets below.

Quite enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The beds, room and bathroom room are clean. The staff are nice and reasonable. I only dinged one star because they didn't advertise that their concierge lounge was closed during the weekend. The main reason I picked the place was for the lounge.

Great hotel in the heart of Union square of San Francisco. Has access to many fine restaurants in the downtown Union square area as well as Chinatown that's a short walking distance from my hotel. The room were correct and up-to-date which made our stay very comfortable on my birthday.

Great location by Union Square. Very clean, updated rooms, with all the amenities you expect of Marriott, and the concierge lounge was one of the better ones I've seen. Great view and always stocked with snacks and drinks.

Stayed here for 2 nights, great location, valet parking was great but expensive, front desk staff were really nice, friendly and helpful, room was big, comfortable and clean, what let it down was the restaurant and bar staff, not attentive or genuinely friendly, overall poor service compared to every other Marriott I have stayed in.

Love Marriot! Wonderful experience from the minute the doorman open the door! Check in staff was friendly and very helpful. Ken in the bar is very personable and the service is great. The mattress and pillows were wonderful! Room was well cleaned.

We spent 3 nights in this hotel which is 2 minutes from Union Square in San Francisco. The location is very convenient to visit the city, in fact you have the opportunity to take the cable car that leads to the port or get married on foot to the Chinese or financial district.
The hotel is well cared for as well as are clean rooms.

Com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around… The room we stayed in was remodeled for a nice modern — but still very comfortable — interior. The shower was awesome and the bed was a dream. We had a great view of the bay and Coit Tower. I would definitely recommend the place for a night in the city that won't break the bank.

Wonderful cuisine and service.

I stayed here for 5 nights and loved it in my double bed room with a bay view. I was fortunate to also have lounge access with free drinks, desserts, and small meals. The city and bay views were gorgeous.

The room we stayed in was remodeled for a nice modern — but still very comfortable — interior. The shower was awesome and the bed was a dream. We had a great view of the bay and Coit Tower. I would definitely recommend the place for a night in the city that won't break the bank.

Very pricey. Enjoyed the experience. The staff was pleasant. The hotel was immaculate. In the heart of downtown and close to a lot of shopping and eating establishment. For example Williams-Sonoma, Macy's, Victoria's secrets, E & O Asian restaurant, Cheesecake Factory, McDonald's, Starbucks, Bvulgari, a very large Apple Store and many more places. I would have loved to say it had a free continental breakfast.

Great location. This Marriott is undergoing renovations in early 2018 and I was able to get in one of the newer rooms. It was an updated room with more modern touches for a Marriott. The breakfast at the lounge (for platinum holders) was well done. I enjoyed my stay.

The hotel is located in a convenient location to Union Square. There was plenty of shopping and other tourist stuff to do within walking distance. The rooms were comfortable. The one big negative was how long it took the valet to bring my car around. He said 15-20 minutes and it took at least 30 minutes.

We were looking for the right place to celebrate our 9th Anniversary. The Marriot at the Wharf was the perfect place! The suite on the 5th floor was fabulous, every detail was taking care off from the usb connectors, flat screen tv, the bed was the most comfortable and the decour was modern. The staff was prompt, curtious, friendly and seemed genuinely pleased to have us celebrating there. The valet parking is extra but is worth it to have it in a secure location and we didn’t need our car until we left. The hotel is located close by all the attractions walking distance. We are looking forward to go back next year!

Location is great for getting to all the city locations via cable car or bus. Being right across the road from Walgreens and Starbucks is an advantage. We stayed in the junior suite which is very spacious with a couch and two arm chairs. There is a seperate bathroom you can close off from the room. The lifts can be slow in the mornings. The bellman are great. The room allocation is flawed, we booked 10 months in advanced and we are a returning guests but we were allocated the lowest level room with no view. Luckily we were able to negotiate a higher level, but not impressed by this at all. Housekeeping were friendly and efficient as our room was made up by lunch time each day.

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend and had a wonderful time. Super friendly staff from the front desk to the bar to the breakfast crew, we were always greeted with a smile and sincerity. We had one of the recently renovated rooms and have zero complaints. Will definitely stay here on our next trip to San Francisco!

Very happy with this hotel, location is perfect so easy to get anywhere, rooms are great, good size, modern and comfortable, staff are great, we always get a good morning and concierge has been amazingly helpful. Would recommend in a heart beat. Haven’t given a 5 as not eaten here yet as so many other great options nearby.

Great hotel. Nice central location. Close to a lot of shopping. Just walk down Powell St and you will be shopping in no time. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Best stay ever!

The place is in perfect location. Close to everything, how shops, Chinatown, and jetty. The rooms are very clean and the service is excellent.

It's a Marriott. Excellent, friendly and helpful staff. The room was a bit aged, but certainly in good shape and up to Marriott standards. I noticed they're doing floor remodels, so maybe some updated features will be added — like hair dryers and night lights. Also, the bathroom, although plenty modern seemed to lack decent counter space; a challenge when traveling with family. Overall, a great experience.

The Marriott Union Square is a an excellent property. To start with the entrance and Lobby area is updated, modern, and inviting. The staff were all friendly and very accommodating. The hotel is undergoing update construction, but the floors that have been updated already look great. I got upgraded to a junior sweet, which was awesome. Lots of space and an updated bathroom. The concierge lounge has been updated and offers Marriott's new premium, multi type (still, sparkling, ambient) water tap system. Overall my stay was great and I'd recommend this property to anyone who will be staying in San Fransisco.

The hotel isin a very central location. We were highly disappointed with services and attitude and behavior of the staff. The hotel is undergoing repairs, and there is a lot of noise and disruption. There are no refrigerators in the rooms and the hotel refuses to serve water bottles under the pretext of going green. If going green, them why keep coffee machine in the rooms? The hotel charges top dollars for the rooms, but cannot provide a 25 cent bottle of water to its guests? Not acceptable, especially from a hotel whose owner believes and writes books about — Service of Excellence. No doubt, the competition is taking over and winning business. Highly disappointed.

Excellent location. The staff is extremely professional and friendly. The room is immaculate and spacious. The corner junior suite was well worth it. We are on an upper floor and only heard a small amount of construction noise around 10am. So far the ongoing construction has not been an issue for us. I would definitely stay here again.

I have traveled to San Francisco many times, but this was my first time staying here. The hotel is in a great location just a few blocks from Market street and one block from Union Square. It is clean and looks modern with good-sized rooms and comfortable beds. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend it.

In spite of being a Marriott, the accommodation is similar to a roadside motel. Bathtub was not clean upon arrival. Mattresses not comfortable. Not enough chairs in a room for four guests. Only one set of toiletries and two teabags for four guests. Breakfast is average with supplies replenished skimpily. In spite of being a buffet breakfast, coffee and juice are waiter controlled and need to be requested every time.

Great location! Can't be any closer to the piers. Staff are very friendly. Rooms are good size and have nice big windows that let in lots of light. Would highly recommend staying here.

Smooth check-in with valet parking available. Staff is professional and friendly. Loni at the front desk made us feel welcomed and answered all of our questions. Great location to walk to all main attractions with nearby public transit access. There's a mini market/liquor store next door. Lastly, bed was comfortable and their rooms are soundproof.

The room was beautiful, clean and spacious. All of the employees I encountered were super friendly and knew a lot about the area with many recommendations for us. Valet parking was easy and inexpensive for what you recived. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!

Clean, nice sized room. Redone recently enough. Neighbor was incredible loud and yelling at her allegedly cheating boyfriend and the staff took care of it.

Clean open space with a not cheap feel. However for a 1000 bucks a night one would think they could have thicker windows to drown out the constant noise from the street, or better water pressure in the shower, or maybe lower the price of parking just a bit. Its nice. But it doesn't feel 1k a night nice.

NASTY, NASTY, NASTY! When we checked in our toilet had stuff on it. They did comp us breakfast because of it but when we went to breakfast the next morning there was food on the plates. Disgusting! The only thing good was the location.

Very nice quiet and reasonably priced Hotel. Really close to all tourist attractions talking walking distance of some of the major shops and eateries. The rooms were very nice and spacious, with great room service.

When my family and I first arrived the lady that checked us in was not very welcoming, later on and throughout the duration of our stay, everyone after her was very nice. I really enjoyed staying at this location during my family and I first visit to San Francisco the room are very nice and the bed and pillow are so comfortable. I also enjoyed the breakfast it was delicious I would definitely book here again if I decide to revisit San Francisco very clean which makes it worth the five stars I'm giving.

Location is very nice. We did not say in a room. Only there for a work seminar. The Conference room is very wear out and could use a refresh. Also, parking at the location is $54.00 plus tip. Could have parked across the street for half the price. Had to wait approximately 20 minutes for the car. Only two valet's with over 200 people at seminar.

Great place to stay! Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the price was reasonable for the location. And what a location! Short walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, and the cable cars… and easy access to San Francisco's excellent public transportation to everywhere else. Only four stars due to lack of a view and quite a bit of street noise. Still totally worth it!

My room is rather loud and if you're not a platinum Member, or the like is, the cost of the Wi-Fi $13 per day…

$13 a day Wi-Fi. Seems ridiculous. Restaurant was over priced with average food. Location was good. Our first room smelled like body odor as soon as we walked in. Overall. The fast elevator and the free cookies at the front desk were the two best things.

Decent business hotel if you want to stay near the north SF area. Clean and updated. Near pier 39. We only stayed 1 night and didn't have any issues.

This was my first visit to San Francisco and this Marriott is conveniently located. We had a courtyard view room (basically a rock garden) and the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The room had a mini-fridge, coffee maker and hair dryer, but no microwave. The dresser and night stand lamps had convent power outlets for plugging in our personal electronics for recharging. The hotel staff was helpful and willingly offered assistance and answered all questions. The concierge was especially helpful with booking a rental car, which we picked up just a few blocks away, after having breakfast. You can eat in the hotel restaurant if you choose, but there are less costly places nearby. You can find breakfast, lunch, and dinner locations within a 5 to 10 minute walk, all in the convenience of the Wharf area. There’s also a Safeway grocery store and a Trader Joes about 2 blocks away!

Friendly staff, easy walk to everything at the Wharf! They had no problem parking our large truck. We had our 10 and 6 year old boys and it was perfect. The pullout couch is a bit small for two but they didn't complain. The room is large and accommodates with comfort!

We stayed over Memorial Day 2015 weekend and couldn't have asked for a better experience! Lily had an early, "feather-free" check-in waiting for us when we arrived at 11am with a 3 year old and and 8 month old. Mikalea at the front desk also went above and beyond to make our stay special. The concierge (his name escapes me, sorry), was always helpful with quick questions I had, maps and coupons. Also, the staff had adorable stuff seahorses and dolphins for the kiddos, which they loved. Thanks again for a great weekend and we will be back again soon.

When I checked out at 5am today, two taxi drivers by the front door of the SF Marriott Fisherman's Wharf yelled at me when they found out I was taking Uber to SFO. I asked for assistance from the desk manager. He looked like a deer-in-the-headlights and didn't say anything to the taxi drivers. I am Marriott Gold but I will not stay at any hotel that condones abusive taxi drivers when Marriott customers want to use Uber.

Average! ambience — 3/5, cleanliness-3/5. Value for money — 2.5/5.

We loved this hotel, mostly because of its great location! It is pet friendly, too! Everything is walking distance — Fisherman's Wharf, Aquatic Park, Marina, Pier 39, Ghiradelli Square, Sightseeing buses, cable cars, Pier 33 (Alcatraz Landing). Great service! Safe area.

Warning — we stayed here and our iPad in our room went missing. Engaged management and after several weeks of back and forth, we were told that they are not responsible for any missing items. We will never stay at a Marriott ever again. It doesn't matter that I've been a loyal patron to their brand for over 10 years.

Wonderful experience first time in CA and wonderful memories, the room was clean, bed was extremely comfortable, single women traveling alone, felt safe,, walking distance to water, bus stop close. When asked a question staff was friendly and answered with a smile. Bar tender even though closing ordered food. I found the price for hotel was a bit high, to eat in was extremely pricy, grab a trolley bus and go in town there were so many places to eat and great weather and views. Again I liked the location of the hotel to all things that could be done.

I am completely faithful to Marriott hotels and this one did not disappoint! Starting off with an extremely nice and prompt valet! The lady that checked us in was very friendly and informative when I was asking about the local fair. Since it was our first time in San Fran. I needed all the local help I could get. The concierge was even more helpful with all his suggestions and coupons to local restaurants in the area. He even checked on us when we got back from dinner, just to make sure we weren't disappointed. The location of the hotel and it's staff made this a very memorable trip! Only problem. Was the 12.95\day additional charge for Wi-Fi. After spending 300\ night. Thats ridiculous.

We checked into this Marriott on May 28, 2013 for 4 nights. It was my husband and 10-year-old son. We had traveled from San Diego via route 1 and stayed at different Marriott’s along the way. I should have known not to stay at this Marriott from the moment we pulled into the hotel area. The valet parking person was very rude when we told him that we did not want to valet park our car for $50 a night. We asked if we could park in the garage for a lower price and he told us in order to park in the Marriott garage we would have to valet park. My husband found parking two blocks away for $30 per night. The porter automatically took our luggage to our room, without asking if we needed help, just assumed we did. Once we got to our room and unloaded our luggage I gave him a tip, and he stood there expecting more money. The porter was not friendly. We booked a room with two double beds. The hotel room was so small and there was barely enough room to turn around in the bathroom. The next day we went and saw the concierge to get tickets to Alcatraz. The concierge book us tickets to tour Alcatraz that Friday and we would need to pick up our tickets at the site to board the cruise. On Friday when we arrived at the Alcatraz tour site, the concierge had only booked two tickets for our tour. We had to get the manager involved in order to get a third ticket to visit Alcatraz because the tour was sold out. On Thursday night, the fire alarm continued to go off and we had to evacuate.

We were with my husband 4 nights, from 19 to 22 july 2011. Excellent location, everything close, just 4 blocks from pier 39 and tourist sectors. Good room, good bathroom. All clean. Its staff were fantastic. ALL very nice, extremely attentive and cooperative, LO I recommend.
