Their rates are ridiculous considering this hotel is probably not even a one star hotel. The staff is less than hospitable, the whole hotel smells like Indian food and wet dog. I woke up to the entire night stand, floor and wall covered in ants. When I notified the front desk they inspected my room and their resolution was a 10% refund for my stay *a measly $9.00 and informed me that if you bring any food into the hotel it will attract ants. Not at all the response I expected or a reasonable resolution. :/

The staff was great, the bed was super comfortable, room was clean. If you like a throw back in time atmosphere as far as the decor then this is the place for you. I happen to like the smell of curry and tumeric so the smell when you walk in to the lobby didn't bother me. The rooms are odor free. Suggestion: bring a spoon to stir your coffee, there wasn't one. We would stay again, in the heart of the Main Street. Best Mexican restaurant close by.

Old and poorly maintained Hotel small rooms in comfort, breakfast at minimum hotel to no longer advise.

Had a 3 day, 2 night stay, definitely met our expectations loved the old style of the hotel. Had a great time people watching from the balcony, rear patio is very nice also. Rooms for such a historical place exceeded our expectations. Very friendly staff also.

The stay was surprisingly good for the price of our stay. The room has the essentials: heat, shower, sink, TV, coffee maker, hair dryer. No ac but you have a ceiling fan. Bottom line, I would stay there again.

Cute hotel in a small town. Over 100 years old. Friendly people. Did have an old smell to the hotel that was a little unpleasant. Overall stay was good. Comfortable bed!

Nice historical place. The weekend cabin crowd takes a bit away from this otherwise very nice location. Our room was very small, but the patio area just outside was a nice surprise. There is no continental breakfast in the winter despite the advertisements. Overall, a quiet and serene place if you are close with your roommate. The room size encourages togetherness.

Unprofessional staff, I had to ask for towels and a bath mat because there were none in the room. Luckily I usually bring my own towels with me so when I got out of the shower I actually was able to dry off. The entire Lobby and stairs going upstairs needs to be vacuumed. The entire Hotel smells like curry cooking because there are an East Indian family running this place. Don't get me wrong, I like Curry and I like all people but when I come to a hotel I don't want to smell Curry all day long. The people who run the hotel live here also and they were smoking outside my window. This is a historic building that needs a lot of rehab before they can call themselves an America's Best Hotel. Usually when you repaint a bedroom you take out all of the rot and water damage and retexture it and then paint it but they have just painted over all of the water damage mold and Patch spots and it looks horrible. The shower had not been cleaned before I got into it so I had to clean it myself before I took a shower. If it wasn't Thanksgiving and if I had somewhere else to go I would have moved to another hotel Within the first 10 minutes. I was raised in this County and it's disappointing to see this historic old building being advertised as something that it is not.

The layout of the rooms is a little weird, but it is an old building. The bed was too hard for me. Nice staff and atmosphere.

Seemed nice from online then when I arrived the whole hotel smells like curry, rooms are clean but still smell like curry the grounds of the hotel are not kept up very well and there are random tools laying around chained up to different permanent objects, most likely will never stay here ever again. Also was a little strange that the sink was not in the bathroom.

Beautiful place to stay. Lots of things to do. Love the local charm.

It's very quaint and historic. The building is over 100 years old. The front desk clerk was very friendly, but the bed could use an upgrade, it felt like it was as old as the building.

The hotel is nice our room was clean. My only complaint was the owner's are Indian (not Native Americans) and the smell of curry was strong. I like curry but not that strong. We stayed in room 201 and the chester drawers kept opening on their own! I figured it was a guest that enjoyed their stay.

Well, I had high hopes since I'm a big fan of that historic vintage-y look. Immediately when I walked into the lobby, this weird small flooded my nasal cavities. I dunno, maybe like barbecue potato chips? I thought the lobby decorations were cute though. At the front desk, I learned that I would have to go across the hall if I had to to go to the bathroom during the night. Then, I got to my room. It was so small and dirty. I was with a family of four and all we had was one little queen bed. One of us considered sleeping on the floor or the porch to make more room on the bed. The deadbolt on our door didn't work either. Would not come back.

We stayed one night this weekend. We had room 204 in main hotel. Queen size bed was terrible. Woke up several times due to someone talking on phone at 145 and a couple other times. We went to take a shower and the knob was broken in shower so only freezing water. Will not be staying again. Also bathroom door would not shut all the way and the toilet would not flush.

I rented a 2 room Family Suite — It was 2 regular rooms next to each other with the door between them opened up, really? No ice machine! I have never stayed at or even heard of a hotel with no ice machine, Continental Breakfast — — No Fruit, Bagels, Hot Chocolate, jelly for toast, very weak. Carpets were Disgusting, very dirty, turned socks black. parking very limited, allowed so many cars to public park I was blocked in. Staff was friendly, pool was decent would not recommend.

Bathroom cleanliness must be improved. The In room amenities like fridge and microwave does not work. Overall not worth the pay and management does not like complaints about the cleanliness.

Very nice looking hotel. Great looking grounds and landscape. A little worn out though. Dresser was falling apart, hole in wall from door knob. Great service. Nice location.

We stayed a few nights. It was ok, clean, bathroom was small. I took a few pictures of the hotel and caught a ghost in one of the photos peeking his head out of one of the rooms. The whole town felt haunted and strange. I wont go back.

This was a great place to stay. They had wonerful customer service.

Room was quaint, however toilet area was so small, almost couldn't use it. Free breakfast was toast and cheerios. Totally dissapointing.

About two weeks ago, I stayed there and overall the cottage we stayed in and service was fine. I returned and was given the same cottage, but to my surprise I found extra charges and have been falsely accused of smoking. Very upset and offended as was not expecting this otherwise would of spent the night at another Hotel. Very d.

Stay away! Dirty, Poor service and Poor Breakfast!

Spent one night there when visiting Yosemite and didn't have a good experience. The cottage room we had smells so badly and the front desk had to use air fresher. The hotel's owner is a indian lady. I am not sure why it is rated as 2.5 star hotel.

Smoke alarm in the next room "chirped" all night, I know because I heard it all night, little sleep. Mentioned it earlier in the day to the front desk staff but I guess they did not care. No hot water in the morning. Bathroom so small you could not close the door.

Got to stay in one of the cottages behind the main building. It was neat, clean, comfortable. Complete kitchen with dishwasher and dinnette. Wish we could stay longer to be able to use it all. Very cozy and convienent. Friendly new owners made us feel at home. We will come back.

We had stayed here before at the hotel and liked it, but the cottages were a real disappointment. They were in great need of repair. The exterior needed paint, and it seemed furnished at yard sales. Probably won't come back.

Very nice old hotel. They were very accomodating and gave me a first floor room. If not for my bum foot and difficulty climbing stairs because of it I would have loved the upstairs room the owner had decided to give me. (I'd booked a first floor room but for some reason the owner changed it) No worries though, a ground floor was available. I'd always wanted to stay in an old hotel and was extremely pleased with the basic room I had. I couldn't get any cell service due to the mountains and the clerk was very nice and let me use their phone to contact my sister who does not have a computer, in order to let her know I arrived safely. Their Internet service was very good, I never had any problems logging on while I was there. If I'd had more time I would have loved to book several more nights to explore the area but had just come from Yosemite and needed a place to lay my head before I headed out of the mountains. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay there again. If you are handicapped and have difficulty walking, beware, the floors are uneven due to their age (something I wasn't aware of when I booked the room), still, once I got used to where the dips were in the floorboards I had no problems getting around without stumbling and as a matter of fact I quite enjoyed the quaintness of the floors. :).

The hotel is very pretty, nostalgic and cosy so that we enjoyed our stay very much. Staff was friendly and you could reach nice restaurants and shops within a few meters. Breakfast was ok.

After reading some of the other reviews, I felt that I needed to describe our experience. We spent three nights at the hotel. We had a very nice, but small, room on the second floor. The furniture was antique and added much atmosphere. The bed was very comfortable and we were pleased to find it covered not with a bedspread but with a clean (and launderable) duvet similar to what we found when we traveled in Scandinavia. Unlike a previous reviewer, we had our own bathroom which was small but clean. The porch swing on the back porch and the chairs on the balcony overlooking a very quiet main street provided memorable spots to sit and sip a glass of wine in the evening. The staff was very nice and very helpful, and it sounds as if the staff described in other reviews must have been replaced. The hotel is old and therefore a bit rough around the edges, but we felt that we had a very good experience here, and we would not hesitate to stay here again if we are in the area.

We stayed at this place probably about 3 years ago, and while it wasn't a top notch place, it was, for the most part, clean, quaint, and we were pleased. Fast forward to about a year ago, we booked here again, only this time with our 23yr old son, who was in CA visiting, and we wanted to show him Yosemite, like we had done a couple of years before. OMG WHAT HAPPENED! When we were here the 1st time, there was a really sweet elderly East Indian lady behind the counter, very nice, very helpful. I don't know if Mama passed away and left the biz to the sons or what, but this place went to hell in a handbag. Filthy dirty, rude, like they didn't give a big rat's @ss if you were there or not, as long as they got their money. When we were there the first time, there was a really quaint little garden in the back of the place, the 2nd time, it looked like it hadn't had any upkeep since, well, the first time we were there. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! DON"T BE FOOLED BY THE PICS! The place has the potential to be a really cool place. Under different management and staff.
