We stayed overnight at the lodge. It was the highest located hotel in Denali which afforded us a great view! The staff were very nice and helpful. The rooms were clean and updated. It was further from the shopping area called th Gulch but they had free shuttle that runs every 30 minutes. The shuttle driver Jim from Kodiak Island was very nice and informative.

First of all, you can't beat the views from this place. You can see for miles and miles. The staff were all really nice and accommodating. The rooms were nice and clean. Beds were comfortable, only complaint is the air conditioning kind of sucked so we had one night that was really hot in the room otherwise this place is great!

The view is absolutely amazing. The rooms are nice enough. The restaurant was very over priced. $40 per plate for not a lot of food. It tasted excellent, but there are a lot better places in Anchorage or Fairbanks for $40 a plate. Spend your money on excursions. After you have seen the view and stayed here once, I'd recommend some of the cheaper hotels in Denali. You don't spend much time in the room, so don't over pay.

Fantastic place with an even more fantastic view! Staff is very helpful and friendly. Christina at the tour information desk is a amazing. We came and asked a few questions and she gave us so many options with advice, along with booking everything from pick up to drop off for us.

View from room and backup alarms wasn't pretty. The employees were all very nice but lacked some knowledge for your services.

Nice place but don't expect any help from the staff. I could give you many stories but below are just two examples… We asked the front deck clerk today if the Denali Bluffs (their sister property) is a good place for lunch. They said yes and told us how to catch the shuttle to get there. Once there we learned the restaurant is not open for lunch! Last night we were given a copy of the shuttle pick up times but quickly learned it was last years scheduled so all the times were wrong. Just two of many examples of the incompetence in their staff!

View is really nice from some of the locations of the hotel. But, rooms are extremely noise. Walls are paper thin, and if on the valley side, view from room is a gravel parking lot. Location, is not close to anything, but the restaurant that is part of the hotel. Did not eat there, but was told food was good but very expensive. There is a shuttle that runs to the main shopping part of town that makes its rounds about every 40+ minutes, takes about 20 — 25 minutes to get to the Denali Village. We were on a Alaskan Land-Cruise trip and even though the view was Outstanding, I would have preferred being down at the McKinney Resort, basted on location. Rooms were fine, nothing fancy, your basic standard hotel room. Internet was very slow in both upload and down load and it was up and down most of the the time. Seemed and felt like it was more down than up, but that may just be because it was down when I was trying to get this typed up, and had to restart my message a couple times. I gave it a 3 because of location, internet service and the noise room. The view from the bar balcony is stunning.

High elevation above town but not very polished dirt roads and a natural gas fireplace in the lobby.

A pricey but very nice place to stay. The best part was the shuttle that would take you 'down town' or to other locations to meet your tours of the main park. We paid the up-charge for the 'room with a view' and it was totally worth it. We ate that the restaurant and then at the cafe once each and it was way too expensive for what you get, but it was yummy still. Very friendly staff and a lot of cool decorations and photos to see all around. The shuttle drivers were especially friendly! Keep an eye out for wildlife!

Absolutely LOVED this lodge. Super friendly staff. Great rooms. Food was absolutely delicious. Definitely worth the stay. Great accommodations.

This is a nice lodge siting high above glitter gulch. Overall I enjoyed my stay as they had a nice bar and decent food. It is about a 10 minute walk down a service road to get to the shopping, restaurants and bars below. The only downsides to this lodge are poor water pressure in the shower and slow internet.

This review is for the Alpenglow Restaurant inside the Grande Denali Lodge – we did not stay at the lodge. The setting is magnificent, the views amazing and the decor very inviting. We sat at the bar and enjoy expertly made craft cocktails as we admired the views, then made our way to a window-side table in the main dining room. Service is what you'd expect at a $$$$ restaurant – attentive, amenable, but not intrusive. My black cod entree was superb, as I recall. I only took a star off the review because my partner was disappointed in the salmon he ordered. Said it tasted like frozen salmon you would get in the lower 48. Trust me, we had a lot to compare it with as we had salmon almost every other meal during our 9-day Alaskan trip. Even what we ordered in Anchorage brew pubs was much better. Still, if you are up this was I encourage you to try the Alpenglow at least once.

The room was large, clean, and comfortable. We had an amazing view out our window. The grounds were gorgeous and well kept. We were very pleased with the staff. In the front lobby there is an area to buy drinks and snacks. There is also a restraunt and a bar. The shuttle will drop you off down town at no charge and take you back to the hotel. Wonderful place to stay.

The views from their deck are sufficient for five stars. And the food is superb, but pricey, even for Alaska. Gracious service from a wonderfully diverse staff, including many lower 48 and international students on summer work/vacation. It would help to make sure the cliffside buildings are reasonably safe during an earthquake. Thank you!

Sorry but the price of this place is not at the level of the accommodations. Denali as a whole seems like it's trying to squeeze opportunity hard but this locale was the largest illustration of that in my experience. Nothing different than basic accommodations and a window AC unit. Service was fine and the room itself was fine but I have slightly higher expectations at 400 a night.

Overall we had a very good experience. Staff are pleasant always helpful. Room is clean with a view! We did have few problems with the shuttle pick up I guess it was miscommunication between the driver and front desk, but it did not spoil our trip. Will come back and recommend your hotels.

Wow… The views from this hotel are outstanding. We actually stayed in the Bear Cabin, which was adorable. The space was nice to spread out and unwind. The staff was accommodating and friendly. The Wi-Fi at the cabin/hotel is very good and efficient.

I do not recommend this lodge in Denali. I would recommend someone to look for cabins to stay in while visiting Denali. The lodge had an older appeal with an old air conditioner in the room. They also have check out at 10am and will not allow their guests to check out later than that even when their prices are very high because of their busy travel season. Their lodge was the highest price I had to pay for lodging while visiting Alaska. It was supposed to have a view, but it wasn't that great (not even a balcony). I was disappointed with the amount paid when compared to the value or experience received.

Extremely pleasant staff, beautiful location, shuttles to take you to town, nice rooms. The power went out during our stay (apparently it's not very common) and the staff was prepared with water and lights.

The views are amazing! Like, wow, truly spectacular. A bit pricy though, but if you are looking for a nice place to stay, this fits the bill. It's got the views, it's got the food, and pretty good service.

The view was beautiful, the signs on the road up made us laugh and the room was nice and clean. However the crt TV was dated and the Wi-Fi was difficult to connect to and quite slow. Then again, I do consider that the location is quite remote and that might be a reflection of the best internet speed possible out there.

Great location with an amazing view and trail. Only issue was that at one point it took the restaurant about 35 minutes to get a plain turkey sandwich out. Minor issue.

Amazing! Came here for our one year anniversary and they have been so great to us. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

The Grande Denali and Alpenglow Restaurant is a great place to stay and dine in the Nenana River Valley of the National park. The staff was very accommodating and professional, with polished service. My girlfriend and I traveled up to Denali National Park, Alaska at the end of last year, and had a terrific stay with 2 wonderful meals at the Grande Denali Lodge and Alpenglow Restaurant. Breakfast was excellent, with multiple ways to either "grab and go, " or sit down. Chef Ebel's dinner presentations were very put together, and the food flavor was second to none in the area. We had a bottle of California Cabernet recommended by the server and it was fantastic, and complimented the meal perfectly. I was told by management that a complete remodel of the place was going to happen for the kick off for the 2014 season up there, so I am sure it will be even better the next time around. If you want a great place to soak up a wilderness view from a hotel in the area, mixed in with professional staff, and a terrific dining experience to start and end your day with, then the Grande Denali Lodge comes highly recommended from us. We will definitely be staying here again when we make our annual return trip up to Denali in 2014.

This hotel does not hesitate to go back on its "verification". After checking in, we asked at the front desk if the coupon they had issued would be applied (it was a stay one night, get one free published in the Alaskan saver book) to our stay. In spite of their "confirmation", they still charged our card on file for reservation for both nights upon checkout. Without any notice to us. This caused a $200 discrepancy in the bill, met with management hiding behind their front desk reps. We eventually had to call the credit company and report the fraud.
