This particular La Quinta is a great example of just how much the quality of this hotel chain can vary. This one was particularly disappointing. We tried two rooms, both had very strong musty smells in them. The building looks very worn, and we did see a cockroach, outside thankfully. The breakfast area is too small for the size of the hotel. Theds we're clean and comfortable at least.

Old rooms with filthy carpets that smelled like dog. I picked up trash from around the bed, lots more behind the bedside tables. Bathroom walls in need of patching and all over paint (lots of unmatched paint patches already done). And a good cleaning of the baseboards and bathroom floors. The AC worked, and the bed was comfortable. The front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming. Would not stay here again.

Good location, centrally located near lots of restaurants, UAH and not far from Space and Rocket Center. Good quality for price. Great service from manager and Cam who checked our family in!

The rooms were not good, but you get what you pay for. I wouldn't go back to stay though. There was mold on curtain. There was a smell of water that had been sitting on the floor, like maybe the toilet had overflowed. We found hair in the tub and sink. The new replacement towels had brown stains on them. I understand it's an old hotel, but geez.

Hotel is not in research park. Rooms look disgusting in person. My room had bugs! I don't know what kind but it doesn't matter bugs are bugs. Floors did not get swept or mopped or vacuumed! Bathtub was dirty and the shower curtain smelt like mildew. They don't even make your bed or change the sheets. Tables are dusty. Disgusting hotel. Do not stay here if you are a clean person.

Fiance and I stayed here when we came for business from Birmingham. We stayed here because they accepted our well behaved dogs with no pet deposit. I couldn't even tell that other dogs had ever been there. All hotels should accept pets like this! Would definitely come back.

We booked 4 non-smoking several weeks in advance. Then on the day of not only did they delay our check in time, but only had smoking rooms available. Horrible customer service and obviously doesn't understand the meaning of a reservation.

Very clean and quiet environment. You don't hear doors slamming or people talking. The employees make it feel like home. 5 stars.

The odor of the room was pretty bad, towels were like sand paper. The Wi-Fi was slow, carpets were dingy & stained, bathroom was small & not clean. I posted photos of hair and small pieces of trash we saw in the bathroom when we checked in. Anyone who gives it more than 2 stars is an undercover manager /owner. The staff there was a very friendly and nice ice, but the place needs a deep cleaning to be decent.

We stayed there this past weekend and from the check in to the room, everything was awesome. One of the best hotels so far. The room was very clean, smelled great, hot shower, convenient to shopping and dining and the price was great. Will be staying there each visit to Huntsville AL.

Great price, but the rooms need a good deep cleaning and some modernization. Shower is cramped and shower head too low. Bathtub drain and sink drain backed up badly. Cleaning crew didn't bother cleaning tub after water drained. Sheets were burnt with cigarette holes. Whole room was musty… almost a urine smell. Front desk was VERY courteous, but until. They upgrade and improve housekeeping, I will not stay there again.

The reception was good, but it all went downhill when my mom and I first opened the door we were greeted with the most appalling odor imaginable it was almost inhuman, it was as if a bunch of sweaty jocks huddled in this one room and put their feet on the A/C unit. I truly see no reason for me writing this review if the owner is too lazy and nonchalant to do anything to change it, and the housekeeping needs to be paid more especially with these dirty as hell people who live or visit within proximity of it.

We had awesome service, they always accommodate my fur baby's. In the Las Vegas the Newest La Quinta Inn they even helped us load and unload the car. Way over and above. All because they seen I was having a hard time breathing! Now that's compassion for another human being and over and above the call of service. Great job La Quinta's I'll stay at your hotels anytime and everywhere there is one.

This hotel isn't so bad, but it is NOT a 2.5 star hotel, which they are rated. The breakfast is sub-par. No eggs or breakfast meat, which is expected at a 2.5 star hotel. My room had shower handles that were completely disconnected from the the wall. My shower appeared to have a blood stain in it. The best thing about this hotel was the staff, which provided good service and was very friendly. You can get very good rates here. You will get what you pay for.

I read all the comments and Don, 't agree with negative reviews. This is my second time here in appx. 6 months, and I find the staff very friendly and helpful. Cleanliness of the rooms and grounds is a step above similar priced hotels on this same road. I travel a lot here and have tried several… definitely recommend La Quinta… ☺

The breakfast was seriously lacking but otherwise the experience was great. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The staff was very polite and helpful.

Great bang for your buck. Breakfast is decent and convenient. Lots of amenities for the price point. Noise from other guests and outside ambience is minimal. Great location. Staff is professional and courteous.

Great service, clean hotel! I've come here around 10 times and service is always with a smile. Rooms are always clean. Great place for kids.

The building itself and room I stayed it was very dated. For the most part, it was clean and the experience was average. The decor and furniture brought me back to the 1970s. The A/C worked fine. The young lady at the front desk was as professional, friendly and nice as one could be upon checking in. The location of the motel (room entry doors face exterior into parking areas) made it desirable as it was situated in the middle of numerous food establishments and near the University of Alabama in Huntsville and several attractions. The bed was comfortable enough. I would have been more disappointed if I had paid more money than I did, so I would say that I received right at what I paid for.

So far it has been a good stay. The continental breakfast isn't anything to write home about, it's quite sparse. But it fills it's purpose. The rooms aren't dirty but has been a while since it's been updated. But price is good so you get what you expect really.

We took our children there so they could swim and we could have a nice relaxing couple of days together. The 1st room had fleas that bit my 1yr daughters face several times by the time I had unpacked our luggage. When they changed our room it was 9 pm. We get up the next morning to take our children swimming they had closed the pool for the day to clean it. When we asked why they didn't tell us that when we checked in they told us to pack up and leave.

Rooms weren't very clean, the AC unit didn't work great (wasn't able to keep room cool), the shower unit wasn't quite attached to the wall (couldn't adjust it due to that), and the breakfast wasn't great either. Overall it would likely be better to spend a bit more money and find a better hotel.

Worst Laquita I ever stayed in the rooms smelled really bad! It reminds me of a nursing home. The rooms had water leaks under the ac unit. No telling how long it has been there so I'm sure there was mold. The front desk clerk was very nice. Her name was Gloria that was the only thing enjoyable about the experience I give her 5 stars but the room was crappy run and don't look back!

Older on the outside but the inside was nice and super clean. The only thing I could say bad about it was the shower heads are for people in the 4' 10" height range lol.

Bug carcasses in our first room, plus dirty sheets and comforter. I'm talking period stains and what looked like food on the made up bed. Our entire group had to get another set of rooms. They were still gross. I ended up putting my suitcase back in my car and getting things as needed. There were bug carcasses and gnats in the very small bathroom. I was so disappointed. If I were staying more than 1 night, I wouldn't have stayed here. I love the inn and suites version of this hotel and did not expect such a huge difference. I do say a very large thank you to the sweet lady at the front desk who was running the show alone during a super busy time. She was accommodating and super polite, such a professional. I'm not sure I'll do La Quinta again even at the higher up level. This is madly unacceptable.

Worst hotel in the area! Cody Ginn (guest service specialist) should be fired! Even the other employees hate her! The rooms are filthy! Stairs are broken and cracked. Bed was broken and TV satellite constantly goes out! Carpets desperately needs to be replaced and smells. Housekeeping is non-existent unless you ask, then you get a bag of towels left at your door. Do yourself a favor, and stay at the La Quinta Inns and Suites just one block down the road at 4890 University! It is owned by a franchise and it is wonderful!

We a river late as was greater by a very friend staff. The room was nice. We last early so didn't get there breakfast.

Our dog got fleas. We stayed for one night and noticed them immediately after leaving. The room was an identical layout to other La Quintas, but a bit run down. The flooring in the bathroom was poorly set and the wallpaper was peeling in places.

The stay was wonderful and the beds were more than comfortable. The staff was helpful, but I will say in the two times I've stayed there, the staff ovbooked the hotel.

Beware that $50 fee charged to your card for incidentals. * It can SERIOUSLY ruin your budget if you're travelling. Let me tell you: $50 WILL BE charged to your bank card or credit card on the day you check out. I get it that this is for incidentals, and maybe I'm not used to it, but I had not budgeted $125 for a single night's stay at La Quinta. I am sure that extra $50 will be refunded to my account, as I did not steal the towels or anything, but it just kinda throws me off. If you get your booking through Priceline, etc, you think you've already paid, but just watch out, because you haven't. It's not exaclt a hidden fee, but it is a SURPRISING fee. The girl at the front desk who checked me in was perfectly courteous, and there was a little sign (5"x7") on the counter that notified you of this policy, but I still think that every unavoidable fee should be explained before you sign the paper. I always tell my customers exactly what to expect so that they won't be dismayed and so that I won't have to answer the phone all day and explain it to someone who's already disappointed or pissed. (That's just how I run my business where I work. I do not work for a hotel or for La Quinta. I work at a department store. When I let my customers down by not giving them enough information, they don't come back. But my business might not be the same. ) I couldn't very well go back on my reservation as I had already paid. I was for $75 in already.

One there is not a shuttle to the air port, cost me 30.00 I didn't have for a cab. I was not told that there wasn't a shuttle at the air port and was not on the website. The workout room needs an over hall and there is mold in the bathroom. I bed is comfortable that is a plus. I am only staying two nights so that's good. I think it would be overall a nice place if the little things could be changed. Not to sure why there are two hotels right in the same place though. There are four hotels in the area why.

I was down for my brothers graduation from North Carolina. I booked online and saw no advertising saying "pet friendly" and didn't ask for it. I got there and the young lady behind the desk asked me if I had any pets and that is when I found out. I checked my room and scanned to make sure things were fine and they were not! There were HAIRS AND DIRT in the tube and there were HAIRS in the bed and the top cover of the bed was messed up as if someone went in and had sex on the top cover and left and the room was not straightened up. The room also had a strong musk odor. I went down and told the front desk clerk and she switched me to another room and this room had hair on the bed and a strong musk odor. This odor had to have come from pets and this is why I DO NOT stay in pet friendly hotels! Although she was a nice girl, she only continuously changed me to other rooms. Because I had no other funds for another hotel and to wait to be reimburst I would be sleeping in my car, I have no choice but to stay there. I would never book at another la Quinta again and I have pictures and will be contacting corporate headquarters. Come to find out I'm allergic to cats and my hand and face was swollen and throat was itching. I have pictures as well.

I would like to say "Thank You! " especially to John the maintenance manager who went out of his way to search for us a lower level room with a refrigerator while it was snowing. Me and the wife had to have an inexpensive room to stay in for at least a week while our baby was in the NICU and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised how clean and EXTREMELY surprised at the level of great service that we got from this place. I would recommend this place to anyone. You can't beat $350 tax paid for a whole week, get the level of service (especially from John), and get a really clean room.

First night two roaches greated me but they'd drank all the beer. I changed rooms the next night to my detriment. No bugs (except the dead one in the corner) and the dusty spider web on the ceiling, cigarette burn on blanket, comforter smelled like smoke, thin, looked like it was from the 80s. The TV was a vintage 1970's model that was viewable after it had warmed up but until then it was too dark. The tub in the bathroom had a hole in the bottom with a shower no-slip mat partially glued over it. It leaked, so underneath the wood was rotten. Pot Smoke rolled out of 1/2 of the rooms, got approached by a prostitute one night. Heard a police radio outside my room another night. Pool was closed. Receptionist was nice though.

For the price, this is a wonderful hotel. Most low budget places are run down and filthy dirty. True, this is not the cleanest place, but take into consideration how cheap the rates are! What do you expect for around $49 a night! Plus, the staff are the FRIENDLIEST! Will definitely come back :D.

I travel several weeks out of the month and La Qunita, this one in particular, is on my big "S" list. I booked it through Orbitz and was charged by Orbitz BUT I also was charged for the stay by La Quinta. I have been trying for a week leaving messages and filling out forms on their website to resolve the issue but I have yet to hear from the "La Qunita" team. I wish I could rate them no stars, but I think I need to at least give them one.
