Drakensberg Mountain Retreat Country House

Excellent reception and hospitality, spectacular views, great food, feels like home.

Perfect venue for a personal or group retreat. The setting is breathtaking, staff are friendly. Helpful and discrete and the catering was mouthwatering. When a vehicle in our party got stuck in mud in the dirt road, the office sent immediate assistance and not only helped them out but also escorted them all the way back to the tarred road.

Good space to be in. The surrounding is just awesome.

Most amazing mountain views and breath taking scenery. Would recommend this place any day we had an amazing stay at the retreat. Theo and his team where very friendly and provided excellent service.

We stayed in the big farm house. Comfortably sleeps 25. Amazing views. Beautiful scenery. Lovely hikes straight from the house. We didn't need to get into our cars and drive all weekend. So relaxing. Our dogs were welcome and had the time of their life. Fabulous spot for a big family get together.

What a gem! We stayed in the Barnhouse and the views and horses are spectacular! It is not the lodge but we knew that going in and we would go back anytime with a group for which it is set up.

What an amazing place. Definitely a place to recharge your batteries. Staff super friendly and the food is amazing.

Home friendly by Zineb who speaks French. The place is removed as it's in doubt when we come up here. It is better to provide a 4×4 for 15 kms of track from the road. It has failed to make a half-turn put off by the way… in The end no regrets the location is superb!

It was our second visit at Drakensberg Mountain Resort and we can't get enough of this beautiful place. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. They are also pet friendly and have the cutest doggie called Cato. Thank you for everything and we will see you guys again.

By far one of the best holidays I have been on! Incredible food, wonderful, friendly staff and the most beautiful surroundings. I went on the windswept hiking trail and was privileged enough to see eland and wild horses on my walk. It is a great place to unwind and nourish the soul.

Body, Mind & Soul Retreat at Zonderntwyfel is a must. Spectacular views and clean mountain air. Cleansing and Rejuvenation at its best.

The most beautiful view. Excellent food and very freindly staff. Beds, linen and towels are very clean. Rooms also. The perfect place for a family get away. Wifi was a bit iffy, but I suppose its because we were at the very end of the lodge. Will definitely visit again. Only for those looking to relax and break away from city life.

Very quiet and the surroundings are stunning. Unfortunately, there were only old périple when we were there, so it looked like a retirement home… Oh and the cooking is average.

We had a great time up at the top of the world. Just amazing people who feed you well. Loved it.

Fireplaces everywhere creates a cosy homely atmosphere. Beautiful view of the mountains, with lots of activities to keep busy (hiking/mountain biking/plenty of reading material). Very friendly staff. Delicious dinner and breakfast included in prices.

We had a stop-over for a night on our way down to the coast and found a very special venue for our family get-aways! We were made to feel so welcome and as a new mommy it was amazing how kind they were with providing for our baby — cot, baby bath, blankets, etc. We really loved the 'old school' feel — no TV in the room and no phone at the dinner table. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very kind, helpful and friendly. This place is a real gem! We had amazing game viewing on the way back to the main road — we saw a beautiful pair of secretary birds, vultures & most incredibly, a serval. We'll definitely be back. It is a lovely and tranquil place to unwind. Management are very friendly and accommodating. Food is homely and accommodation is fair. Love that dogs are welcome.
