Very impressing historic hotel with a stunning service and great food!

Great hotel! Great rooms. Very private and excellent service.

It was quite disappointing, rooms are small and bare and serious worn out, toilet was dirty room and had not been cleaned. The view looks out to other rooms nearly few meters away, not the city view they promised. The walk to the room was terribly creepy, looked like the Movie “The Shining” with creepy portraits of women looking at you. There was no sense of luxury once you left the lobby, everything was very bare. In the room, the toilets are like some cheap public toilet with dirty old tiles and the toilet seat was cheap thin plastic. The tile door beneath the bath tub was half open and could not be closed. They didn’t even supply tooth brushes and tooth paste. Toiletries was cheap and smell bad. Not worth the money at USD300++ not inclusive of breakfast. Better stay at Hyatt or Four Seasons next door. When we feedback to the hotel, they were not apologetic nor did they do anything to help. They just rejected our claims. This is the attitude of a bad hotel. Stay at your own risk!

Excellent hotel, fantastic service and great location. Recent renovation put Metropol in elite league of Moscow Hotels and sets a new benchmark for comfort, style and history. Lobby restaurant is excellent (loved crab olivie salad and fish soup). Elegant marble backrooms are a wonderful and breakfasts by the pool are worth waking up for!

The Metropol is centrally located in the heart of Moscow. St Basil Cathedral, the Red Square, GUM Department Store, and many other sightseeing spots are just a stone’s throw away. The century-old Metropol is opulently furnished. Excellent service.

One of the best hotel experiences ever – top of the top! As a Top Contributor on TripAdvisor I have been visiting a lot of luxury hotels around the world, but this is definitely one I will remember! This historical and perfectly located hotel in centre of Moscow is top notch and beautifully decorated. Together with the outstanding personal service from the staff it makes it to one of the best hotel experiences ever! My room (no 5539) was very spacious, quiet and nicely decora…ted and had everything I needed. The bed was Queen size and very comfortable and the room was spotlessly cleaned every day. I was studying every detail in the room and couldn’t find anything to complain about during the stay (3 days). Wi-Fi in all parts of the hotel was quick and easy to connect. The breakfast buffet which is served in the breath-taking ballroom with glass ceiling and a harp player is spectacular by any international standards! Eggs and various omelettes are cooked to order in front of you and it’s also possible to have a glass of champagne for breakfast! The wait staff were always checking and taking care of our needs. In summary, Metropol hotel is a very well-run hotel offering a very high standard of quality and personal service. I chose this hotel based on all the extremely good Tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed! I loved every moment of my stay and would stay here again if I return to Moscow!

Stunning palace-like hotel! I was having a business trip to Moscow and staying for one day only. I booked for a junior single room for a rest. Somehow the hotel had missed my booking but then they gave me a free upgrade to a kind of “suite” that surprised me a lot! Comfortable bed. Super large room. Two toilets in the suite. Bathtub with nice shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. Beautiful view outside the window. Wide-range of choice of food for breakfast. Nothing could be better. Great location to many sightseeing spots.

I stayed at the Metropol in 2016. Walking distance to all the wonderful attractions like the Kremlin, Red Square several cathedrals. Safe, beautiful and fun. Enjoy this hotel!

Lovely, polite, suave staff in an exquisite hotel.
There is a minus, which blocked all the advantages, apparently the main managers save on maids, whether they have a small that do not want to work, whether they just do not have enough maids and make more work from this they poor do not have time do not know. Can save on the accessories themselves. But have mercy those it's 5 hotel! The room is clean, there are no complaints, but the bathrooms took me to the point where I wanted to move out the night, because 4 times Asking to bring to the room different accessories that were not presented and every wait, then you find the next again call and Td. I don't like to disturb people once again, I'm sure they have enough worries without me. Fantastic Art nouveau hotel. I think it's from 1905. Its 100 meters from Kremlin and the red square. It has classic and modern rooms. We had the modern room for a good price. It was simply fantastic. Big rooms with big bathroom. Very comfortable beds and bed sheets. Everything was clean and neat. The concierge service and front desk were nice and helpful.

Super central location, clean, the staff at reception and restaurant is very polite and helpful. The rooms interior is not new, but linens are good and everything functional and clean. Despite the central location the rooms is very quiet, thanks to double windows. And again, location, location, location. The breakfast is great, and the restaurant interior is charming, late 19 early 20 centuries.

It should be understood that the hotel is more than 100 years old, it was built by Russian entrepreneur Savva Mammothov. Engineers concluded after the survey that the walls would be idle for another 100 years. And the stained glass ceiling in the main restaurant is a work of art. The hotel's suites are preserved in their historical form, impressive in their beauty, each individual. Some types include the Bolshoi Theatre, The Theatre Square, the Historical Museum, the Duma. The foyer is very spacious, playing a grand piano. About the menu of the restaurant Savva is already written in French references, I will not write — fine cuisine for reasonable money.

Excellent restaurant for romantic evenings and just gourmets and lovers of delicious food. The staff is friendly and attentive. Clean appliances and comfortable furniture. At your request, the chef can make changes to the dishes. All advise and relatively Moscow prices in the restaurant Hall Metropol is not expensive.

Historic Hotel in the centre of Moscow, located between the Red Square and the Bolshoi Theatre. The hotel dates back to the early 900 and is decorated in Art Nouveau style. Definitely worth a visit. In particular I recommend the Russian te ceremony, about 5.000 rubles for a full-fledged meal that ranges from salty to sweet. Recommended the reservation through the contacts indicated on the site of the hotel.

Wonderful hotel, very beautiful building! Convenient location in the heart of Moscow, all close by within walking distance. In the morning, simply chic breakfasts are served under the accompaniment of live music, the trained maid complements the impression of the hotel's high status. It is necessary to renew the cosmetic repair and to equip modern business-center, then the hotel simply will not be price. Overall, the impression left extremely positive. The place is beautiful it's just that one time I visited on September 14, 1812 the napoleon army came and they were so loud I couldn't fall asleep. Then out of nowhere when I looked outside the whole place was burning down and that made me mad because I payed good money to stay. This place is amazing it's just the neighbors are mean.

I love Metropol! I always admire the wonderful hall. I remember how many events these walls saw. And their visits to this sacred place. Here at one time I was awarded the National Prize in Public Relations "Silver Archer", and yesterday the same award in the same hall was given to my friend. It was a great party. And a great dinner, by the way. Bravo, Andrey Shmakov! You're very dignified to keep the brand!

Hotel superbly placed in front of the Bolshoi Theatre and behind the Red Square. The exterior architecture is beautiful. The interior decoration is in resonance with the outside, the breakfast room is impressive under a superb canopy.
The rooms have been well renovated and furnished with old rooms that give a charming impression a little bit. The bathroom is small.

Very nice hotel with an interesting and long history. The hotel is very centrally located. The rooms are clean, spacious and high. Remarkable is the dining room. Excellent hotel! A stoic building in the heart of Moscow! You can admire the endless architecture and frescoes of Vrubel. Magnificent view of the Bolshoi Theatre from our window. The room is amazing! It's impossible to describe, it has to live. The service at the highest level without any complaints, very competent and polite staff at the front desk, especially note Alexander, who served us on the first and last day of residence. It was pleasantly surprised that we were upgraded to stay and included breakfasts at the Metropol restaurant. It's indescribable! Exceeded all my expectations. It's not easy spending time with friends for delicious food, but also a guided tour of the hotel, where you'll learn the history of the hotel. Love this place, homely, grand, but not stuck up. A classic. The location of this hotel is perfect to explore Moscow, two mins walk from Red Square and the Bolshoi Theatre it’s fantastic. Try to get one of the historic suites over looking the Bolshoi.

Beautiful hall, good kitchen, lovely staff. Everything spoiled the tour — an employee of Metropol with twenty years of experience. Well, at least the text would have been beautifully written to her and given to learn. They showed them stairs, a couple of dining rooms and that's it. Speeches at the guide, as a merchant from the import. In general — it is better not to conduct such a tour. This is just a minus for a cool establishment.

Luxury without a deep hole in one's pocket. Great conceirge recommendations, fluffy pillows, display of grandiose for breakfast and a sauna to warm things up. Nice and cosy place centered very well to a lot of historic attractions and I assume, one itself.

I was at the anniversary of the alma mater, and the disadvantage was the lack of space for all gathered in the big hall. So we had to organize standing "cocktail" places. Great Hotel, very luxury… excellent staff and great cleanliness…!

Right in front of Marx square, who wallows in his grave while you go for another glass of Russian champagne in a generous breakfast close to shiny fountain. Well located for short visits to Moscow, super nice people working there and good hard bed for a good sleep if you are into that. So many stories has those incredible corridors and lifts, you can breathe them and build new ones. Its a great place to invite locals to share "strangers in Moscow" and talk about meaning of life.

Highly recommended: perfect location, great service with friendly and professional staff, good rooms with very good beds — what more could you want…

Very nice hotel very well placed with however rooms a little dated.

I had the pleasure to have dinner at Savva. I had been to other fancy restaurants in Moscow and this was my far the best service we received. Our waiter spoke English fluently (a true exception in Moscow! ) and he guided us to try different local dishes. I'd definitely go back if I'm ever again in Moscow.

Perfect location and superior service. Old world charm in the heart of historic Moscow. See Red Square, the Bolshoi theater from your bed. First class treatment in a comfortable environment. None of the pressure or apprehension you may have experienced only 15-20 years ago. In this area of town, I now feel more safe than I do in most major cities in the US. A lot of change going on. It shows. And I was very happy to see it. A few minor issues with outdated bathrooms and some cumbersome interactions but this is the local norm and I can't hold this minor issue against them. I would absolutely stay here again.

Renovated has maintained the rich appearance of the furnishings and with an attention to the many services. Breakfast buffet.

I highly, highly recommend staying at this hotel due to it's excellent location, attentive employees, and comfortable rooms/bathrooms! My husband and toddler and I stayed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights in March 2017, and they provided a full size wooden crib on wheels with sheets, duvet, and pillow. They also delivered colorful madeline cookies with dipping sauces just 10 minutes after checking in to say "welcome" to us and our baby. We booked a superior king room and were very impressed with the decor and view (on the second floor, looking at Revolution Square and the Kremlin). The ceilings were at least 15 feet high, the king size bed was really a king (76 in. Wide x 80 in. Long or 193 cm x 203 cm) and comfortable too, and there was more than enough space for our 2 large suitcases and 2 backpacks. The windows open with a key, which I called the front desk for and a bellman brought it literally within 90 seconds. I like to sleep at 65-70° (18-21°) so we kept the windows open during the day and closed them just before bed. There are two sets of double paned windows so when they are closed, the room is very quiet (by my light-sleeping standards. ) The receptionists, bellmen, doormen, waitresses, and hosts were all polite and very helpful, spoke English, and made sure that we were comfortable and enjoying our visit. I researched about 5 other hotels in the area and am confident that this is the best one. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

I was at the Hotel Metropol in Moscow many years ago and I have very fond memories of it — and Moscow!

It was a great stay in a hotel ideally situated in the center of Moscow for site seeing. Everything was excellent, from the polite staff to the breakfast in royal surroundings. I recommend it and I will definitely return.

The building, reception and dining hall are spectacular but the bedrooms are in desperate need of modernisation. Beds are good quality and comfortable but those rooms are grim looking. The breakfast is excellent and well worth the high prices. Couldn't be in a more central and convenient location. Once those bedrooms are updated, this will be an amazing hotel. It clearly once was and I'm sure will be again very soon.
