We stayed here last night and the room and service was great, We will stay here again. Regan and his team are really lovely and the room was just right.

Just like everyone else is saying, super rude staff. Joy (ironic… Not so joyful manager) refused to give me back my money even though I didn't end up staying. She was unhelpful and very adamant about they just want my money and nothing else. Please AVOID this place at all cost! The Tui lodge in town was wayyy more friendly and great for the price. Dont give your money to these thieves!

We slept in a bedroom with shared bathroom and kitchen. the room was quite small but enough for the two nights! the bed was big and comfortable. There is a TV in the room plus a chair and a small nightstand. The room had a private entrance. on the frontporch there were chairs and tables for eating outside. The frontporch has a roof and is safe from wind and rain. the kitchen has enough equipment and is cleaned daily. Sadly one fridge was broken so we had to squish everything in one… the bathrooms are cleaned daily. Boys and girls separated. Two toilets and 3 showers and 4 sinks. They offer towels and shower gel in case you forgot to bring. all together was it a wonderful stay for us!

Worst customer service! Booked a room for 2 nights at $500 asked regan who is the manager twice to confirm the price which he did at the agreed price. We turned up and got told we had to pay $500 per night reason being it was a long weekend! I have been a regular visitor for the past 7 years and have been here before on a long weekend paying $380 for the same room. This person knew I travelled down from Auckland with my entire family including young children so thought he could get away with black mailing us with the outrageous price since there was no accommodation anywhere in coromandel. I had told regan I would not have travelled here for no reason knowing it would be that expensive, his response was that I fully knew. I asked regan how could he do this to a regular customer to which he responded "WELL WE WOULD RATHER NOT HAVE YOU AS A CUSTOMER" Excellent customer service…. Never coming back to anchor Lodge again. And will not be adding anchor Lodge to our social club trips again. Hoping the owner reads this and takes some action.

Stayed a few months ago, friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable, would definitely stay again.

Lovely people in charge, worth the visit for their great hospitality alone.

Nice lodge but staff was surprisingly rude when guest got late and didn't let them know in advance. My mistake in the situation: didn't let staff know in advance we would be late check in. Inappropriate from staff: rude questions/behavior, not handing me the room key Situation We changed our plans during our travels for our own specific reasons (time, attractions and driving rest). That caused us to arrive to the lodge way later than expected. We arrived to the lodge 10:30pm and all the lights were turned off. I tried to call them and nobody answered. After a few minutes I walked towards the reception and the person responsible for the reception came out of the room in his pyjamas asking about my reservation. While checking for my reservation he asked in an angry tone: Did something happen? Did your car break? Did you see the time you just arrived? It's 10:30pm. You're lucky I woke up otherwise you wouldn't be able to check in. Did you check the website? It tells you what time the reception is open. Some of those questions were unnecessary to resolve the situation. When I asked about my car parking he answered with the following sentence: It's all good to park over there. The only thing is that there's a bus coming by 11am but the checkout is at 10am so you should be gone by that time. I paid the reservation, he shown me the bed and left. I apologised for the inconvenience and said good night. That was the night before Christmas.

Totally unkind and inflexible. The Owners are in a very bad mood often and have reacted unkindly. Never mind why we asked. Not recommended if you prefer nice and simple People. In addition, there are very strict Rules on the Premises, so that short Visits by others are not allowed. There are cheaper and nicer Places than this one in Coromandel. And especially friendlier People. Got my first bad NZ experience here.

Warm and friendly staff. Sat on the deck outside our room enjoyed wine and pizza and listening to the Tui sing. So peaceful and quiet. Loved the room, clean and bright. Soak in a bath. I could go on but to many cool thing. Thank you all we had a nice break.

Great rooms. Great hosts. And the Tuk Tuk ride was awesome!

Nice tranquil setting. Pool is heated to 35 degrees though. Not exactly a cool down summer swim. Good Wi-Fi though.

Nice clean motel. The walls were paper thin however and we could hear our neighbours phone conversation at 7 am in the morning. The motel is located close to the beach and walking distance to the town centre filled with shops and restaurants. The spa and pool were both amazing.

Our family recently stayed at a unit in Anchor Lodge. The accommodation and Service was great. Kids loved the spa bath. Walking distance to the main town. Recommend.

We stayed two nights in a self contained unit. Everything is very neat and tidy. The units are set amongst lovely gardens and yes, we can see the water from our balcony. The Wi-Fi is solid and the pool and spa area are very inviting.

We just happened upon this place and loved it. Perfect room for three traveling ladies. Green but modern. Gave us milk for our tea/coffee. Clean. Friendly. Affordable. Wished we could stay longer!

Just loved everything about the Lodge. We had a 2 bedroom Family Apartment. The Staff were very welcoming n helpful. Clean and tidy. We enjoyed the heated Swimming Pool n Spa. Very quiet Place which made our Weekend super awesome. We had a great stay.

Great location and a nice view from the upstairs room situated in a bush setting. Relatively peaceful. However, the bed was very hard, which was extremely disappointing as we were told they were new. Better attention to cleaning of the spiders and cobwebs is required.

We stayed in a large family unit over the New Year period. We were greeted by friendly staff and our room was set up in the trees. The children had a great time in the swimming pool and also used their mountain bikes (which were free). Overall, beautiful facilities, great views and lovely staff. We will definitely be back. We were recommended to go to the Waterworks on the 309 Road, also a definite must for families.

Absolutely a lovely place. The owners were quite helpful and friendly people. Excellent service and very close to Coromandel town. The little swimming pool and the SPA made our stay even more pleasant. Reccomended.

Excellent accommodation in a great location. We had a wonderful stay at Anchor Lodge. It was really close to town, but still set in the beautiful bush. We stayed in a room by the trees, with a lovely view out over the harbour. There was also a great bush walk right beside the motel. The hosts were excellent and had lots of information on activities and sight-seeing. Guests get free use of the mountain bikes, and also a large DVD library (it rained one night so we stayed in and watched movies). They also have a heated swimming pool and spa. Our stay in Coromandel was probably the best part of our trip away.

We see some not so good reviews listed here, Well we found the staff, particularly the men, very cheerful, friendly, helpful and obliging to our needs and requests. Facility was very clean and tidy, the rooms were very well presented and spotless! We ordered breakfast in the morning and this was delivered to our room on time and was very nice, excellent value for money! We were offered all facilities including the spa and pool etc even after checkout to fill in time while we waited for the ferry to take us back to Auckland at 4pm, towels thrown in no problems. For no cost or for a small donation staff were happy to take you to local venues in their "tuk tuk" excellent fun and very unique. We were offered grapes, free DVD's to watch. Beautiful setting and surroundings! This place and the staff has improved significantly if what has been recorded in previous reviews is correct though I cannot see how the staff could have been anything other than friendly and helpful. We will be back.

We were quite disappointed by the cleanliness of this accommodation. We had a motel and it looked great outside (and good inside online from the pics we saw) but the place needed cleaning, it looked like it was only being given a very surface clean, bare minimum but there was food around the taps, bumps and scrapes and marks on the walls, hair in the drawers, spiders in corners, dust everywhere etc.

We read the great reviews for this place, and the location is very good, but when we were ushered into our room I was appalled at the state of the facilities in the backpackers' unit. Perhaps the motel part of the lodge is kept up — — I know the swimming pool and gardens are very nice — — but the backpackers' public rooms were horrible. Absolutely filthy, torn, stained and burned carpets, disgustingly dirty fridge, really dirty public kitchen. Ashtrays all over the deck. Yuck. Someone needs to get their act together and hire some better cleaners — — and get rid of those appalling carpets! Also, there is literally no insulation between the walls, and we were bothered until quite late by the inconsiderate folks in the neighbouring room. I would not recommend the backpackers unit to anyone.
