Solid Rock - Lodge & Restaurant Hotel

I visited Solid Rock Lodge with my 4yo son to escape from Kathmandu city. We stayed there for 2 nights and we had a great time in a cosy and quiet place. Rooms are really nice and comfortable. Mina and Simon helped us to organize our hike around and we had wonderful stay in this peaceful area. Looking forward to come again…

The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful and really made us feel at home. We got some great advice about our planned hike of the Champadevi trail which helped a lot. If you're ever in the area, or planning the Champadevi route, I highly recommend this spot as the starting point for the hike is very close by.

It is situate in the very nice villige place. After dusty and noisy Kathmandu city you feel here so relax and wonderful. Very tasty dishes and I like the friendly and warm staff.

We came to this place only for couple hours to drink their anazing tea and to eat something. And I wanted to stay here more time! Thank you!

The most overpriced food I’ve ever had. A plain packet of noodles, 20 rs in the shop, boiled in water, they charged us 250 rs for! We asked if that is really correct but they said that is what they normally charge. The place is not fancy at all and I dont know for what we paid the extra 200 rs per portion… So not worth it!

This place is the best if you are looking for nature and quiet to relax or work away from the crowded and dusty Kathmandu, less than 1 hour away from Tamel. I stayed there for one week and it was amazing! Food was very good and I felt at home since the first day. Simon and Mina are very welcoming hosts and will make sure you feel confortable. Wifi available everywhere, hot shower and nice bamboo architecture to enjoy. You can walk along the forest to go and visit Pharping, which is a very nice walk. There are also other walks to do in the nature, those I saved for the time I come back, which I definitely will when I visit Nepal again! Thank you again!

We came across Solid Rock by chance during one of our walks, and have ended up staying here for 2 weeks! It has everything we were looking for: peace, serenity, fresh air, mountain walks, simple comforts, amazing hot water, really good Wi-Fi, great food and the most welcoming of hosts. Thank you Simon, Mina and Manika for making this a true home away from home. I certainly highly recommend staying here. We will be back!

Lovely weekend getaway. Along with the great hospitality, there are numerous great hikes to choose from as well as rock climbing!

I often get disappointed with the sanitation of Nepalese hotels. This place is something different. The owner is Danish and he knows how to keep things well and tidy. In regards to the view, this one will not disappoint. Located just between the three hills, it is one hell of a place to relax, and is a walking distance to the monumental Buddha's statue. The owner doesn't mind to have a chat or two. Price for food and stay is very reasonable. I highly recommend this place to all the Buddhist friends and love birds trying to find a place to relax. This is my favorite place close to Kathmandu, and hey it is very close to many hiking trails don't miss them.

I visited many hotels in Nepal and can claim that this one is exceptional! Simon's hotel is the best place if you are in search for nature, rest and coziness. The view from the room was stunning, food delicious and design of all the place made us feel like having rest in the remote corner of the planet.
