Reviews of The Rucksack Caratel

We booked this hotel as there was many good reviews however, we were disappointed. Room was too small, cleanliness of the room was uncomparable to other hotels we have stayed in that area (stains on bed, algae on Windows and bathroom door etc. ), we had only cold water to shower for our 3d2n stay. I would rather pay a little more for a better hotel.

Very peaceful place for a nice rest. Yet near to jonker street. Walking distance

Location: very central, next to a replica palace and close to main attractions Room:see for yourself in my attached photos. Sleep: the room is literally in the lobby, in fact your bed is litterally less than 9 feet away from the reception desk and right in the middle of the gathering place they call "lobby", with all the ventilation equipment humming night and day non stop. Could not sleep at all. Also if you have a look at my photos, the risk that you got yourself electrocuted by the 240V (not 120v) on your bed is palpable. I don't usually review where I stayed, but this one I made a point to come here to make sure other people wouldn't land themselves in the same plight as I did. I travel extensively and never ever in my life have I been so upset. Shower: good and warm flow. Wi-Fi: good. Overpriced, for 70$ you get subpar room, noisy, and sleepless nights.

A hidden gem smack right in the middle of the historical City. Close to major tourist attraction. Clean and cosy environment. Comes with a swimming pool for a relaxing stay.

The hotel room is compact. Small but functional. However take note that it does not have a wardrobe, refrigerator, and hair dryer. Other than that it does resembles a 4 star facility.

Great hotel. The whole area is very relaxing, famous jonker street just within walking distance. Quiet environment for people who want to enjoy their stay without disturbance. One down side is that the hotel has limited parking. P/S: no refrigerator in the room.

This hotel is recommended for my trip. A door on the staff of the warm hospitality, there are swimming pool, also can choose to drink, the room facilities are quite complete, towels, soaps, cups, drying racks are quite complete, in addition to the rich breakfast also let me feel very pleasantly surprised. The distance is also very close to all attractions, 5 minutes to the Red House, or to the other side to Satay Celup, or another 5 minutes to go to the chicken Farm Street or Dataran Pahlawan shopping, the location is very good

Good value for money. Deluxe king Room is a tad small but clean and with good amenities. Just lacking a mini fridge but there's a shared one in the common area.

Hotelnya asyik, unik juga. Lokasi cukup strategis dengan pusat2 wisata di Malaka. Minus mungkin di lahan parkirnya yg terbatas.

Clean room but very small. Staff is nice. Breakfast so so

This place is nice and clean and quirky. Pool area is relaxing. It has a backpacker vibe but a hotel price. Good location as it is out of the hustle and bustle but still close enough to walk. Breakfast is average.

Best budget hotel that I have ever stayed in. We stayed in one of the"caravans" and it surprisingly came with all luxuries you expect in a better hotel including tv, 4 cups, coffee and tea, bottled water, safe, water heater, hair drier, good quality shampoo and soap, clean linen and towels. There is a small pool, nice indoor place to sit down and read a book or do some work, unlimited flow of hot and cold water with coffee and tea. Will definitely come again.

Slightly far away from jonker, nice rain shower, near Dutch cemetery

Friendly staff, nice rooms with a unique design, unreliable simple breakfast

The hotel is situated in a quiet corner, within walking distance to attractions such as Jonker street, the musuems, Dutch Square, the Clock tower. Carpark lots are extremely limited, but there are public parking lots nearby which you will need to place parking coupons. We booked a room with garden view and a king bed. The room is spacious and impressive, but the view is nothing spectacular. Breakfast is very minimal; the fried noodles are tasteless and cold, which we would not expect much. Room amenities are sufficient and beds are comfortable. A few cons as follow: 1) The room has insufficent lighting. 2) The tap water smells of chlorine. 3) Cleaning staff overlooked stains on the toilet bowl, which was covered by the lid.

The hotel is small. Staffs are friendly. Nice decor inside. Has a small swimming pool. Room id small. Breakfast not nice. 4 mins walking to Dutch square. The location is in a quiet residential place.

It's really worth for money. We stayed in a superior king bed. The room is kinda tiny but it's really cozy. Very comfy bed, it has everything you need in the room. Just there's is no fridge in the room, take note. It's kinda hidden location, but very near to the local tourist spot, the red Dutch Church. Walking distance by approx 7-10 mins to there and famous jonker street. Good budget hotel. Strongly recommend.

Standard room sleep in cabin at lobby with no privacy. Upgrade to upper floor room with an extortion price of rm350/nite witout wardrobe & writing desk! Don't get cheated when online booking as they will give those cabin room with less than 200 sqft. Lift are super slow. Lobby full of scrap items.

The best hotel of all. Cosy, classy, dreamy, clean… You name it, they have it. Cheers for dreamers.

Nice ambience and lovely rooms which are clean. I got the one with the Garden view and had a nice view of the merdeka proclamation gardens. Staff are friendly and the morning breakfast is decent.

Unique hotel to have a good mini getaway. Food served not so great. Nice surroundings to enjoy like the swimming pool.

Our family fell in love with the place right away. A retro setting with modem design gives a nostalgic, homely and romantic feel towards the whole set up. Though we came in very late, we were greeted by a young lady, Dirah. She is very helpful, accommodating and friendly. She definitely has scored straight 'A's in my book. This place has great potential and if we accommodation while in Malacca, Rucksack Caratel will be first choice on our list.

This property has a holiday atmosphere, the staff is also very nice
And it is close to Red House

The Rucksack Caratel is a unique boutique hotel with a novel caravan concept on the ground floor and regular hip hotel rooms on the second and third floor. It is rare to have a good size swimming pool for a boutique hotel. The reception area has a fun communal space. It is a short walk to Jonkers Street, so it has a great location. It is also besides the "forbidden" Sultan Palace gardens, so the view is great. The whole place is very quirky and well designed, with delightful surprises everywhere. It is truly a very wonderful place to stay.
