First impression was not impressive. I am at the hotel now, just checked in to a Twin Tower Suite room. More on the suite later… but first, the check in. I know that this is a 4 star rated hotel but check in experience could be better. It could be me and Shangri-la groups of hotel, because my previous stay at other Shangri-la hotels in Putrajaya (which has changed management) and at Shangri-la KL (checked in to a suite room as well) were both below expectation. To have to queue and then to have the staff call "Next" was not a nice first impression. I was about to order a Big Mac Meal and a large Coke but then, oh wait, this is not Mc Donald. The suite is the smallest suite I have ever come across. The suite looks roomier and nicer on the website. And for a hotel that sell the view of Petronas Twin Tower, a suite that is called Twin Tower Suite, at least make sure the windows are clean and not splattered with grime and dust. I usually stayed at different hotels in and around KL. With all the hype about how the hotel offers a nice view of Petronas Tower, I thought I gave Traders Hotel a try. Had I known, I would have checked myself in at The Mandarin Oriental. Price is not an issue to me, granted that this hotel is cheaper but value wise, not worth the money. For a nice view of Petronas Tower, go to Grand Hyatt, for a personalized service that does not feel like you are at Mc Donald, go to Mandarin Oriental. Well, this is the first 3 hours of my 3 night stay and so far it has not been a good impression. Traders Hotel has 3 nights to maybe sway me to at least rate this place 4 star. Lets see how it goes.
