Best hotel in the middle of Town. Awesome location and easily accessible. The attitude of staff is very good. The rooms are clean and neat. Musical and signing is also a nice experience in the night. In breakfast, they have lots of varrites. Detox water is also available which is good for health.

We were acting in movie shooting here. The hall is big, it was a little too cool (cold) because of air-conditions. There are many comfortable tables with middle-soft chairs and also a stage for performances with a piano. The toilets are clean and have really big and nice mirrors. The staff is polite and quiet.

A 5 star hotel that is quite dated, but the hospitality and services outshines it's facilities. The meals prepared by the chef and cooks were delicious. Whether it is for breakfast, lunch or dinner, they will suit your taste buds.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Attention to the surprise of the rooms. We had chosen luxury with a view of the towers… Good for the view. As for the room… Help. Dirty and dilapidated. The poor bathroom, is very far from a 5 *. A water leak in the toilet and it is flooding. The stained walls. The dodgy bed sheets. The damaged furniture. The fridge HS. The carpet of the years 90. The hallways with papers and other dirt on the ground, since the day before.
One night and Basta. Fortunately the breakfast was plentiful with an important choice. I advise another establishment.

A little bit pricey but experience was good. They have HUGE varieties of food. Like seriously, you will want to eat all food they have. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was not that bad either.

Absolutely loved this hotel; the staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful and all of this cake across as genuine and not forced. There was evening entertainment in the foyer which was pretty good. We had access to the lounge which was a nice way to break up the day with a few drinks; the spirits were house brands I believe but still reasonable value. The staff in the lounge again were very welcoming and friendly. When they realised myself and my partner were veggie they went to the efforts of creating some extra veggie nibbles to eat. :) The breakfast buffet was brilliant lots of good food, live food stations and a wide variety, even for us veggies. The hotel is in a convenient place to for transport links and not far from the shopping mall, also a few convenience stores around/ 7even Elevens when you need a slushy to cool down from the heat ;) Unfortunately I can't comment on the pool as I didn't use it, probably because there was so many other things in the area that I wanted to do. A great place to stay!

Great start, held up at check in as our rooms not ready eventually got in at 4.45 pm! Nice if a little dated hotel in a great location. Worth paying the extra for club facilities if you want to avoid the nightmare that is the communal breakfast area. Breakfast there is pretty poor, nothing five star about it. Guest rooms are spacious (we had a suite with attached room for the children) but spare bed for youngest child didn't arrive until 11pm and then only after lengthy argument with 3 different people to prove we had ordered it! (We had email to prove it) (see room review below) Plus points very close to pavilion shopping mall easy walk. Twin Towers and other shopping areas. Swimming pool is nice place to cool off, ice cream and towels available by the pool. Back to club lounge, we had afternoon tea, and evening drinks and snacks here all very pleasant. Staff are attentive and friendly. This is only nearly a 5 star hotel if you pay the extra for club lounge. Everything about the rooms needs updating, more plug sockets, fridges that work (both ours didn't), new bedding, new towels, new furniture, this is not nice retro! I don't think I'd go back, so many better hotels to choose from.

It stank of old carpet, old air conditioning, and cold cigarette smoke. It wasn't really cleaned, dust and stains everywhere. Old blood stains under the bed sheets, holes in the bedding, stains on armchair and chair, stains in the carpet, trash cans like from the street, 5 cockroaches, just weird and a shame!
Location, however, was top and breakfast amazingly versatile. That's it, too. Never again! See photos!

Excellent hotel, good service and prices more than reasonable. Exceptional location!

Had booked a king room and my flight was delayed so I arrived very late in the night and they said no other rooms were available besides one with two small singles. The beds were both quite hard and the decor/equipment was very dated. The location is good and the buffet was great but I would have liked a much better room. There's a new Holiday Inn Express across the street so I'll be going there next time.

The room was very clean and comfortable. Smoking is possible only on the street, but it is not critical.

Rooms are quite dated but clean. The breakfast was amazing, lots of variety to cater for all nationalities. Very close to Bukit bintang and KL Towers. If you turn left out of the hotel then left again there are many bar's/restaurants, keep walking and you'll have lots of massage parlours along the way once you have passed this point you will find amazing Street food which runs for at least a mile. I would definitely recommend the hotel Istana, it's so close to everything.

A convenient location in the center of the city overlooking the Parnastowers. Good condition and service.

Loved this hotel. We stayed for 1 week over New Year. Staff were great, rooms were very spacious. Only downside with the room was that we had 2 large single beds rather than 1 bed, but they were really comfortable. Executive lounge was fantastic. I have sever food allergies yet I was catered for every day without fail. Food is stunning and you would think you were in a top restaurant. Pool was well maintained and very clean. Location is perfect to everywhere. All the staff go above and beyond and we would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.

Hotel is only good for looks. Had a very bad experience here. My booking was prepaid for 1 week and still they were persistent on paying the tourism tax before hand and they would ask for hefty security deposit as well. I requested to make the payment on check out but they won't let me check-in without payment. This is when my entire stay for already paid for. After long argument they let me check-in for that day but deactivated my room key the very next day just to make me come to reception. I never had this kind of issue anywhere in any other hotel. Terrible experience and I would not recommend to go for it.

Loved it here, very nice hotel and most friendly staff ever. Breakfast is the best at this hotel and I say this with full confidence cause I been to other hotels in the far east and this hotel by far served the best food, I did have some trouble with the room but the manager and staff were so helpful and managed to arrange another room for us. Staff were just too nice and always put a smile on our face. The hotel is very close to a lot of things which is very nice, like malls, Chinatown etc. They even get a taxi for you to travel around This is one hotel I will surely suggest!

Very nice location, right next to Bukit Bintang road. The staff were very polite. The breakfast spread is great with loads of options. The room has a great view. Rooms were freshly painted and there was a bit of a paint smell as we went inside. The toilets were a let down, not so clean. The shower was average with the water spraying everywhere. A good stay overall.

Fantastic hotel that we managed to book at a bargain price. Christmas time at this hotel is beautiful. Marvellous breakfast buffet. Fantastic room. The bathroom is good but seems old albeit the new paint job. This could be improved. Very good placing. Close to almost everything important for a traveller.

Such a beautiful hotel. I stayed here about 8 years ago with my husband for our honeymoon. The staff were lovely, the location was right in the middle of KL and their rooms were clean. We also enjoyed the morning buffet breakfasts. Would love to stay here again.

Breakfast was great in this hotel. Walking distant to monorail, 15 min walk to KLCC. My kids like the bathtub in our room. Free basement car park provided. Great place to stay if you want to visit Kuala Lumpur. This hotel also support Go Green program. Staff in the hotel is very friendly and helpful. Hotel price is very reasonable. Great place to stay for family holiday visit. 10 min walking distant to Pavilion shopping mall.

Rooms are a bit dated but for the price and service first class. So convenient to the City yet quiet and relaxed. Staff cannot do enough for you.

I have been visiting this hotel each time I visit KL. Location wise it great with all the malls in its vicinity. The hotel staff is very friendly and curtious. The breakfast buffet is also very nice.

This classic hotel scores high for consistently warm service, great location. Rooms large but need updating, although they're kept in good condition, and the aircon works really well, shower is powerful. So current rates reflect the value.

When I booked I really had high hopes since this hotel was 5 stars. Pros; Location, staff are friendly, rooms and bathroom are decently sized. Breakfast is good with a large selection. If you get breakfast make sure to be there at 6 am when they open cause after that it gets super busy. Cons; Bathroom tiles are old and have stains, water in tub comes out with a slight yellowish//brownish color, room is also dated. Some towels had stains, bed sheets also had stains on some occasions. Overall average experience.

It was an amazing stay through istana. The staff is extremely friendly and knows how to greet everyone. They are courteous and respectful. It's close proximity to the street shopping make it an awesome place to stay. Will stay here again if given a chance for.

Unforgetable and great experience of celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary and mother's day. Surprise rose petals on the bed, fruits and moist chocolate cake. More than anything else pleasant welcome from all the staff esp. Alvin and other Filipino guys and girls of front desk and Tamin Sari. Definitely highly recommended for 5 star quality service.

I'm in their apartment for 2 nights, furniture renovation, décor is great. Space is very good, facilities are also very good … the hotel is very suitable for family or business accommodation. Room service good, and cheap.

We were there for 11 nights and we had two deluxe twin rooms. Negative points: — We were not satisfied with the CLEANNESS of the rooms at all. Actually, the housekeeping staff are terribly lazy! We complained about it several times and the reception suggested us to change our rooms, but when we accepted to change our rooms they said that all the other rooms were occupied! Unbelievably, when we asked housekeeping staff to change our bed covers after the eighth night they didn't do that. — The refrigerator didn't work. — It's breakfast was not so good. It was all days the same. — Bath tap was always leaking and disturbed our sleeping. Positive points: — Its location is good. It is near monorail station and it is about 5 minutes to bus stop. It is also near to Bukit Bintang neighbourhood which is full of shopping malls, bars, etc. — Rooms and bathrooms in deluxe twin rooms are big enough.

Rooms smell kind of stale, service at the reception was not so good. Position is ok though.

Advantage is good Wi-Fi. Some disadvantage is: if you live in lower floor, you'll feel noisy because of continuous singing from bar.

This is the second time in two years stayed at Istana Hotel in KL. Really good experience. The staff at the Club Lounge very cordial and welcoming. The supervisor and her fleet of young girls and a new recruit young man very caring. It was wonderful to go in the lounge and sit there and enjoy the delicacies and the wine. The person Mehedi Hasan, who was assigned to clean my room was very thorough too. All round service in the Club Lounge was commendable. Definitely a place I could revisit. I had one small incident in my suite in the middle of the night which scared me and I had couple of black and blue bruises in fumbling in the pitch dark room — no emergency light or torch available. Very vehemently informed the Club Lounge supervisor but so far no explanation or apology from the management. Will inform you here or on Face book whether any body got in touch with me, otherwise would be a very big black mark for the hotel's reputation.

This hotel was very good for us. There were some issues with noise and slow flushing toilet but this was all overridden by great hosts who made us feel like we were home away from home. Megeshwary, Hamida and Shankar with many more whose names I cannot remember were excellent with fantastic service. I will stay here again.

Had a great time in KL and overall a very good hotel… But … had to check in and show Credit card for ID and open account with Hotel during our stay. On return home to UK found extra charge to clean room of £70.00. Contacted hotel to complain as room was left in good order … Hotel manager said it stands. Contacted Credit card Co as money was taken out of account without permission. Credit card Co said as it was under £100.00 they could not do anything … Nice little earner for someone in Istana Hotel Kuala Lumpur… Spoilt whole experience.

Nice hotel. Startgy location, near with shoping mall. Just take 5-10minute walk to a twin tower.
