Friendly staff, beautiful building and the free onsen across the street is relaxing. Great place for a traditional Japanese feel.

Had a great overnight stay at this traditional Ryokan that is outfitted with all modern comforts. The staff was great and the onsen across the street which is included in the start was too. Will definitely be starting here again when we return.

Very clean, the staff was pleasant and helpful. The manager's English was much better than average for the places I stayed in Japan. The downside, for a westerner like myself, is that the rooms are pretty Spartan by Western standards. I had to duck to get through the door into my room, and at night I had to stack thee of the mats to get reasonably comfortable. My traveling companion, who is of Japanese descent, was pleased with his room. I liked Luck You, but if I find myself in Kyoto again, I'll probably stay somewhere with "real" beds.

Great place to stay, very friendly and helpful staff. Central location to most places to visit in Kyoto. Rooms as expected, nice and traditional (futon on the floor).

Excellent reception, room and traditional Japanese breakfast. Entrance offered to the public baths directly opposite (with guidance by the Butler for beginners). It just misses a star because the soundproofing is also "traditional" and I heard the traffic from the room.

The staff are super courteous, the rooms clean, and building in very good shape. They provide free entrance to the bath house across the street which helps with my tired feet after a long day of walking.

This is my second time staying in Luck-you. I have stayed in many places in Kyoto, but I didn't always feel the same level of customer service in other places. The rooms are small, so I like to stay in the lobby area when I want to write my travel journal or read a book; every night I sat there, there was always a staff (different person) asking if I would like to have a cup of tea, or already cut me a bowl of fruit without me asking. One of the nights I bought some dessert back to eat, and needless for me to ask, the staff saw it and ask if I need a knife and fork. It is the level of service and the kind interaction that made me go back to Luck-you again. The morning I left, all the staffs came out to bit me good-bye and wish me a safe journey home. This was what I was looking for in Kyoto and I don't need to pay a lot of money to get it :) To be honest, I think the selling point of Luck-you isn't space, isn't location (it's not bad though), isn't stunning view of garden, but is the customer service and a true Japanese public bath. And for me, it's also the lounge that I can sit everynight listening to classic or jazz music in the background.

Wildly over rated. The reviews here must be fake. The only reason it's not 0 stars is because the staff is very nice but other than that it's all negatives. It's supposed to be authentic Japanese accommodations and if that translates to zero value and zero amenities for s huge price than it's spot on. Your room is a tiny box, the bathroom is literally 4 feet by 4 feet. You get a breakfast which is the cheapest possible food they can find… bread, some eggs, and some peanut butter sandwiches. You don't get any kind of "Japanese experience". It's just a hostel charging 5 star prices. Please save your money and go to a real hotel. These ryokens are praying on people trying to get a local experience.

Great place just off the main street. Nice accommodations. Public bath house available for use is new and nice.

Highly recommended, they are very friendly, excellent housekeeping and delicious breakfast! They care a lot for your comfort and satisfaction. It was the first time I slept in a futon and it is very comfortable. Upon arrival we have received very kindly and we have given some maps made by them with the nearby bus stops and a small guide to restaurants with about 20 restaurants close to the Ryokan next to a brief description of the restaurant with schedules and all the info needed, the information was very helpful. I would definitely repeat!

This place is amazing! The staff are all very nice and helpful. They even left a gift in our room for our friends birthday! The breakfast is traditional Japanese and delicious! Would stay here again, most definitely!

Super friendly staff! Really made us feel at home. Really cosy house with a genuine japanese feeling! our 1, 5 year old daughter really felt comfortable rinning around. Service is on point!

Great Service, they can speak perfectly English, so you have no communication problems. Good breakfast included. You get the Public Bath for Free.

We had a great stay at Luck You. The staff was extremely nice and helpful, offering tea everytime we would step in the hotel, giving advice on what to visit etc. The decor is like an authentic ryokan and the main area is lovely. The room was cosy and clean.

Truly deserves five stars. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They care sincerely about your well being. The Ryoukan provides an authentic Japanese feeling. It has been renovated in Summer 2016 and thus radiates a warm and cosy feeling. The rooms are fantastic. Being able to wear traditional Japanese clothing while laying on a comfortable clothing rounds up the perfect Japanese experience. The breakfast offers a variety of different food. From Japanese to Western, everything is available. In addition, the staff is always there to help or offer you some free tea. At the end we were given a little present. So please, when you visit Kyoto, stay at this place. You will not regret it!
