Reviews of Hotel Colosseum 3*
Very nice hotel with a great all-round view. Again and again.
Good location, great roof terrace with amazing view.
We decided at the last minute to stay overnight in Rome, from the internet we immediately trusted the Colosseum hotel and it was a great choice! Friendly and helpful staff, absolutely clean and quiet hotel, very nice room with very comfortable bed, close to everything both on foot and for the means, aperitif on the terrace on the eighth floor with a splendid view of Rome! Too bad we did only one night, but we have already decided to organize as soon as possible to return for several days, thanks also to the certainty of being able to stay overnight in this hotel, also at a great price!
Quiet and decent price…
The rooftop bar provides an excellent view of Rome. Also close to the Colosseum.
Courtesy and helpfulness of the staff, cleanliness, strategic location and fantastic terrace! Perfect stay!
Hotel Colosseum is in my heart! 😍
You have most beautifull roof bar, and wiew in Roma!
Everything is nice in your hotel rooms, food, kind staff and owners! 😍😍
Hotel Colosseum in Roma is in my ❤
See you again😍😎
I have stayed here twice now. Both times were flawless. The front desk is very friendly, kind and knowledgeable. They gave us good recommendations for Prosecco. The rooms are very nice and comfortable with great views The roof top has some of the most amazing views in the entire city comfortable and relaxing. My next trip may be to just come and relax on the roof for a few days with friends.
It’s simply a magnificent architecture. Truly a great work and your mind starts imagining history all by itself when you are inside this amphitheater.
Amazing just amazing love it very impressed.
Great place and wot amazing experience it was and anybody who’s goin and I would pre book before going and much easier and just to warn every one be careful of all the Lucky Lucky men out side the colosseum and you can’t really enjoy outside or walk around with out the lucky lucky men coming up to! Michael.
Beautiful and very friendly.
This place is amazing, so much history. You have to visit, nothing like the movies try to represent. Well worth!
Awesome experience and one of the bucket list.
The colosseum is amazing.
Breathtaking, I can’t imagine what the original building would have looked like. Some of the tours where not available when we visited but it certainly did not detract from the overall experience. You do need to be aware of the people trying to sell you “quick entrance” tours. Whilst we didn’t buy any, when we did get inside some of the tours they where selling outside where not available due to the fact restoration work was happening.
The venue itself… spectacular.
Love this beautiful place. Enjoyed walking around colosseum and roman forum. Its amazing and breathtaking.
One of the highlights of our trip.
Beautiful place highly recommend the people are lovely the place is great love it xx.
Awesome! The lines are endless but it’s worth the wait. Must go when the weather cools down a bit. It was being renovated in some parts but it’s def something to see.
Amazing. Breathtaking. It’s definitely something people should experience once in a lifetime.
Brilliant site, well worth doing, tours are well presented as well.
Great experience. Toured the basement, main floor and the very top. Words can't describe how huge and expansive it is. A must see part of Roman history.
I do recommend going to visit this incredible building. However don’t be fooled when you are sold tours that say beat the queues. We booked a tour on the bases we would have to wait 15 mins which then turned into 35 mins. Then we were given ear plugs and a radio and then waited for another 15 to 20 mins for clearance to go in. The tour guide was fantastic however, but the tour is expensive. I would just recommend taking your chances in the main queue and doing some research before hand.
The Colosseum is truly majestic! Although it's very busy and the queues are very long, you can easily view it from the outside!
Great place. Don’t believe the ticket touts. Only had to queue for only half an hour. I found the Forum even more impressive.
Gladiators in my heart. Well preserved and very interesting place of Roman Time. Imagination comparing to the Gladiators Hollywood movie.
So much energy! Great panoramic views… beautiful place to visit.
Amazed by the architect work. Great piece of history work.
Incredible history at this venue. The site is amazing. We took a guided tour, which I highly recommend as you get a much better understanding of the details and facts of the building and all the historical events. It can be quite hot depending on the time of year and of the day so be prepared and bring water with you!
Do not trust the 'skip the line' guys. There is a second register outside where you can easily buy tickets with credit card. You get the ticket there at standard rate and just walk in to the security check. I wished they would do something about this scams. Other than that the sight it's amazing and very impressive. Shoes how great the old Roman society was.
The place closest to ancient reality, stunning to see the place, and experience the events that were then, place. Entry to the place is almost impossible privately! It is better to take a guide and shorten the endless lines, you can bargain for the price. Getting to the place is very convenient with the subway, and there is a large institute of restaurants and souvenir shops. It is advisable to watch out for street thieves. The place is crowded and it's very easy to lose a wallet or a bag at one moment. All in all, the place is very spectacular, exciting, and a place you can not give up.
It is worth buying tickets not in the Colosseum, there are really large queues even in the rain. A ticket to the Colosseum gives you the opportunity to go to other ruins, the Roman forum and something else, I do not remember. Ticket price 15 euros, the validity of the ticket is limited only by these days. It is worth considering, physically the ticket is one, it recorded information about the number of people passing through the turnstile ticket is applied once, then all go in turn through it. The second time the ticket won't work. So, if your group can split up, it is worth taking a few physical tickets for a smaller number of people or even each of their own, by default the number of people said at the box office write on 1 ticket. Another moment with glass bottles we were allowed into the colosseum, but the Roman forum is gone. Of course it is worth visiting the Colosseum. A grandiose structure. I was impressed by the moment you left the nearest subway station, when you come to the surface, and then it's right there. Here you understand how the modern city is intertwined with antiquity, people every day going to work or for lunch, or just walking, constantly interact with the past … It's amazing. But the Colosseum itself did not give those emotions that you expect from him, perhaps the impression spoiled how much around all is destroyed. Everywhere is rubbish, every dark corner around the colosseum is sucked, inside the colosseum everything is fine). But you have to go!
Tickets are better to buy not near the Colosseum, you can stand in line for a long time. It is better to Google the places of sale, all of them are not far and within walking distance without large queues. At the entrance 3 queues: no tickets to the ticket office (the largest), on purchased tickets, on purchased tickets through the Internet and on time. Carefully look into what queue you're going in. While standing in line will offer excursions or tickets, depending on what queue you stand. Usually ticket prices are much more expensive than at the box office. A tour of your choice, if you need, then there is a lot to choose from. We were offered one. 5 hours at the Colosseum, palantine, forum for 24 euros per person if there is a ticket.
A must when visiting Rome. Very busy place. It is surprisingly well maintained. You experience a real feeling of what life was like. Queues are long so expect a long waiting time in the heat. The ticket is combined with the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill and is valid for 2 days. Kids under 18 go free. Tip. Buy your ticket online and jump the queues or go just before closing time and buy the ticket. You can use it the next day. Even better buy the ticket at the Forum entrance where there are less people. Best way to experience the 3 sites is to start at Palatine Hill, walk down to the Forum and then end at the Colosseum.
The Colosseum is a grandiose architectural structure and the greatest arena of antiquity, where gladiatorial battles and executions of criminals were held. Built between 72-80 AD. The Colosseum was the embodiment of the greatness of the Roman Empire and at the same time it is a place where the death of one man led to the jubilation of thousands of others, where the thirst for blood became an integral part of entertainment and recreation. Nowadays, the Colosseum has become a symbol not only of Rome and the whole of Italy, but also of one of the most popular tourist attractions. Depending on the scale and grandeur of the structure. He's handsome at any time of the day. Admission is paid, but on the first Sunday of the month — free, the queues are large, but tourists from all over the world. When you're around, you realize you're touching history. The Colosseum is a witness to many events and to see it firsthand is an amazing sight. Nearby is a very cute and beautiful park, with trees of bizarre shape, it is quiet, it is nice to sit at sunset and admire the beauty of the Colosseum.
I can not talk about Colosseum except beauty, majesty, power! Just look at this magnificent building to make it enchanting, I am sure that you are astonished at the Colosseum, a building built in the year 69 and initially used as an amphitheater, which later became a modification. It became a place for the kings to bleed and enjoy. In any case, before you see this collection, you will have to complete your information so that you can enjoy more and feel more when you see this Roman monument. Just add yourself at that time and imagine what happened here … I would suggest you go to the first Sunday of every month you can go there for free. Be sure to visit the forums near the Colosseum. Don’t Forget l the first Saturday of every month to touch closely the magnificence and authority of Rome.
There's a lot to see. An interesting place to visit with a tour guide, and individually wander. From the tips:
1. Stock up on water (you can buy from 1 euro from numerous sellers outside the Colosseum, so you can fill the bottle with water inside on the 3rd level).
2. Buy ROMA PASS, with it you do not need to wait 2-3 hours of entry, just on a separate queue faster pass, 5 minutes.
3. Fewer people in the morning) )
Magnificent and deepest experiences, impressions and sensations! I touched the "eternal"! How fascinating it is. Tour guides declare that 150, 000 gladiators died at this place. Yes! Of course, both Wikipedia and a lot of scientific works give more real figures… It's not about the deaths!
The essence of life! Eternal memory to all whose lives have been taken away in this place. However, they valued life and freedom, which were extracted with blood and then in battles! Having been in such places you understand other, more intimate and eternal values of your own stay on this earth!
Listen to your heart in this place! To your own soul. You will feel a lot of things yourself…
Beautiful monument! Long tails under the Sun if you are not in a group or if you have not booked online. But it's worth it! Big enough for the crowd to disperse. Not to be missed!
A must-have place in Rome. As impressive as you can imagine. A little disappointed from the inside I did not expect it to be so destroyed. On the other hand in view of the huge stairs, do not go in case of problem of legs!
Rome, as the capital of Italy, has been the political, economic and cultural center of the country since ancient times. As the world famous historical and cultural ancient city, the birthplace of the ancient Roman Empire, Rome enjoys the reputation of "Eternal City" because of its long history. Walking on the ancient streets of Rome, watching the magnificent old buildings and feeling the cultural atmosphere from thousands of of years ago. You can also follow Princess Anne's footsteps, taste a delicious ice cream in Piazza Di Spagna, make a good wish in the wishing pool, look forward to a true confession at the mouth of truth, and feel your own Roman holiday. Browse Rome's landmarks-Colosseum, Palatine Hill, ancient Roman ruins, Arc de Triomphe, Constantine.
Majestic Building and really unique place.
The Colosseum, originally known as Amphitheatrum Flavium or simply as Amphitheatrum, is the largest amphitheatre in the world, located in the center of the city of Rome. Able to hold an estimated number of viewers between 50.000 and 75.000 units, is the most important Roman amphitheatre, as well as the most imposing monument of ancient Rome that has come to us, known throughout the world as a symbol of the city of Rome and one of the symbols of Italy.
Listed in 1980 on the UNESCO World Heritage List, together with the entire historical centre of Rome, the extraterritorial zones of the Holy See in Italy and the Basilica of St. Paul outside the walls, in 2007 the complex, the only European monument, was also Inserted among the new Seven Wonders of the world, following a competition organized by new Open World Corporation (NOWC).

There is no doubt is a spectacle, at least from the outside, because I only from the outside I saw it. The ticket to the entrance costs a bit and there is definitely worth it but by ignorant which are enter without a guide or an audio guide is tantamount to going to hoe without the Zappa and even that coast! NET to make a nice visit of 45 min It took 28 euros per person. Now you will say that the culture deserves the money spent and we agree but… In two people 45 minutes worth a day's work net of taxes! And in Rome there is not only the Colosseum to visit, fortunately for us… In short, next time I'll be back charged with the "weight of my Dinero":D. Another thing deserves my disappointment "the Accaparaggio to the tourist on duty"! I was two minutes of watch to admire externally the perimeter of the amphitheatre and I think I felt the beauty of 12-13 guides in all the languages of the world try to sell me a breathtaking tour of the property. In conclusion, it will be for the next, my dear Coliseum!
Llc! It is definitely worth a look! It's just something! Huge, historic, Majestic! One of the seven new Wonders of the world! It is a pity that I will not be able to relive the emotions of the first time I see him alive.
The place is awesome!
However, as everywhere there are divorces! Attention! If you are approached by a friendly African American and starts a conversation about how you are and how things are? It is better to immediately say no no no and go the other way. Start a conversation, then quietly hang some crap on hand, put a souvenir in their hands, and then with a plainlike look of the mole family in Africa starving, children and all that… Give me five euros for every trinket. Returned everything and left. Catching up, mumbling something but the situation is unpleasant (the evening Coliseum is also beautiful.
For photo It is possible to rise up on parapets or in a park there is very close, on a map where the Green Zone. You can also make good shots.
Beware that all its beauty does not kidnap you to the point of not realizing who is more interested in the contents of your purse.
Having said this is a magical place, unique in the world and you breathe a delightful atmosphere.
I recommend walking along the imperial forums towards the time of sunset to enjoy full of its imposing presence.
You can almost forget to be in one of the most touristic places in the world, and you appreciate the uniqueness of the experience.
The Coliseum in Rome (Italy, Europe) is beautiful at any time of the year. It is possible to imagine, how influence on consciousness of the person this grandiose structure still 200-300 years ago. And even more nearly 2, 000 years ago. When the majestic Coliseum was outside covered with white marble. And conquered Rome peoples lived almost in caves and forests…
The Roman Coliseum (Italy, Europe) looked like this during a trip to Italy in 2015.
Monument known all over the world, imposing and majestic, the symbol of Rome or perhaps it is Rome itself. The Colosseum also known as Flavio Amphitheatre was built by Vespasian in 72 d. C. And inaugurated by Tito in 80, it could contain between 50.000 and 75.000 spectators, one could attend at the time to the so-called games (ludi) gladiatorii, with animals, theatrical performances, historical reenactments even naval battles, all this for the recreation of the Roman citizens. No longer in use after the sixth century, the enormous structure was reused over the centuries, even as a material quarry. Going along the Via dei Foro Imperiali the first time I was in Rome I saw the Colosseum, and really you are impressed by the structure so colossal and the Roman architecture, when you get there in front is as if you knew him always, when you visit Rome You can't not go to the Colosseum.
Probably the most famous and recognizable place in Rome! But I will say my opinion, dreamed to see the Coliseum, but when my husband and I saw not impressed! You expect to see an unreal size amphitheater, and in live it is not so big… But still it is worth to look at it! There are kilometer queues inside, but if you walk a little further, where there is an entrance to the Pantheon and the Roman Forum, you can buy a single ticket for 12 euros and completely without a queue, the ticket gives the right to enter the Roman Forum, the Pantheon and the Coliseum! Entering the interior, also nothing surprised us! Having been there, it is worth to go there! One, no more!
A grand facility for entertainment to show the power of the imperial power. Not even a "whiff", but a hurricane of history. How many fates have been solved here. The structure of the building was also thought up to trifles. A place that is mandatory to visit. Bring the children, guides tell interesting.
If you can only visit one thing in Rome, this is it. The architecture and history behind it is remarkable. Make sure you book your tickets online ahead of time. Pay the extra €5 for the tours; you will not regret it. The tour is informative, but even better is that this also gets you through the line quickest. If you only get a ticket with no tour and choose print at home, the queue is still very long. If you get a ticket+tour, you do not get a print at home option and have to pick up the ticket. This line (to the left of the print at home line) is very quick to the security check. Once past the check, go to the reservations line and it’s like a 3 person wait. After that, let the tour guide educate you about this marvelous piece of history. Go down to the lower level, look around, and soak in the fact that this stadium built 2000 years ago would be ranked 7 in stadium capacities today.
An amazing place, would love to have been here during its prime to see 250, 000 seated and watching the heroic gladiators battle. We had a guided tour which took you under the arena floor to discover that the gladiators actually gained access I to the arena via a lift. Not just one, but 80 of them with each one being manned by 11 slaves. Now that was a lot of people working u derneath the arena. It was great that after the tour, we were able to wonder around the first and second levels of the arena to take in the ore of this fabulous monument. Would love to see this fully restored to its prime.
Ahh… Just loved it there. No wonder that it is one of the 7 Wonders in the world. It's really beautiful! Took so many pictures there (you can see that in my review pics as well ;) ) So, the queue for the tickets is huge so I would recommend purchase your tickets online and take your final tickets from Roman Forum instead of standing in the long queue at Colosseum! That's what we did and we didn't have to wait in the long queue. Also, the best time is to go before 10 AM or after 3:00 PM as you will fined less people at these times. If you are visiting Rome you Definitely want to go here!
A joy… It is impressive beauty with the visit of Mount Palatinate and the Roman forums in stride, 4:30 walk while strolling allow to enjoy all the Roman treasures… Must see.
An amazing place to visit and know Roman history. A fabulous work of art and architecture. I hope and wish someday Italian government will make the tickets and entry process more easy and smooth. You need to be careful with many tour agency outside the Colosseum. For same ticket, they ask different price. We paid to these agency just to avoid long queue : ( (these agency will take you directly inside Colosseum)
Colosseum itself is absolutely amazing architecture. There is nothing to complain about that. Be carefully about those staffs around, most of them are not official staffs. They are travel agents. They are very good at lying and exaggerating about the waiting time or the queue. All they want is to ask you to join the tour group. Don't fall into the trap of their liars, stick to your plan.
About Coliseum It's hard to say anything else that hasn't been said about him. It is a grandiose structure, which amazes not only with its size, but also with ideal proportions. It's a bulky building, which is nevertheless elegant. Steeped in history. Be sure to visit inside (you have to stand in line for tickets and security control), there you can look at the organization of space for performances/fights and spectators. But keep in mind that the floor of the arena is not preserved (but visible all the lower rooms, which contained animals, scenery, weapons, etc. ). This is the place for those who love and know the history of ancient Rome.
It is a place where you can breathe history, enter and admire all that, knowing that it is many years ago… is an incredible sensation. Many queues are formed when you enter, as you have to pass a security check; I think it is very good that measures are taken, because we all want to be calm and safe. In the vicinity of the Colosseum, there are many people who insist that you guide them; So if you have not given time to hire a guide before you go or want to know well, do not worry, that there you find fixed. I recommend going.
When in Rome… you have to go here! Just wow, what an amazing experience and the Roman Forum afterwards is spectacular too! Loved it!
A beauty coming and entering this place. See so much history that hides behind such a huge stadium. There are many places that do not let in but it would be a beauty to see more of this site. Too bad they check everything before entering but hey, it's understandable. Can you imagine if this would continue with the original marble? would be a spectacle.
What can you say about the Colosseum that hasn't been said already. It's magnificent. Just a quick tip though. Don't fall for people outside promising you a quicker way in. It's the old tourist trap. Also, it's just way too crowded (and Rome in general) during the peak of summer; august in particular. So if you can, visit at a less popular period. My last visit was in March. The weather was perfect too.
I'm just overwhelmed. What the human race was technically 2000 years ago.
Gigantic and appalling at the same time… When you internalize the executions and the fights.
But that makes the structure and meaning of the time so breathtaking.
It is important to buy a ticket before… e. G. Rome Pass… that saves time and nerves…
Absolute monumental! If you’re in Rome there is no question about should you shouldn’t you — you have to come to the Colosseum. You get awestruck walking around it. It is amazing that this was built 2000years ago and it’s still standing. When enter there are some steep steps to climb but once you’re up it’s breath taking — so much history in one place. I would recommend booking an early time slot on line to try and avoid queues. I went at 8.30am and the queue was already long. Also go for the audio tour you get to learn a bit more about the history and architecture. Do it!
The great attraction of Rome. Going to Rome and not going to see it is unforgivable. Frankly spectacular, very big.
It is a site that is always very crowded, the queues can be very long although usually to advancing fast.
It is amazing to be able to visit such a touchstone of history. To think that you're standing in a structure that has stood for thousands of years and something that was so central to the Roman empire. The recorded tours are really informative and because of its size the queues to get in are quick. I think that this is one of Rome's must sees. Maybe look to visit a little earlier in the day as the tour will give you ideas for a number of lesser known places to explore once you've finished at the Colosseum.
Extremely crowded inside and out, full of pickpockets, street vendors, people attempting to sell tickets outside (don't think they're legit tickets). Everything you read about being safe while traveling is probably from here. Rush in, rush out of you really want to see it. There were tons of people waiting in line outside and inside. There are even more just standing around taking up space and not really looking at anything. Audio guides are mediocre. Seeing the Colosseum itself was great, just don't go there expecting to enjoy it with others.
Just breathtaking. You don't get out of amazement anymore. You feel moved to another time. A magical place.
Visiting the Colosseum implies a cultural, historical and, above all, sensory experience.
The Colosseum Romano is located in the heart of Piazza del Colosseo. You will notice that the Colosseum is a bit east of the Roman Forum.
Getting to the Colosseum is very easy using Rome's public transport, either by Metro or by bus.
The price of a full entrance ticket to the Colosseum is €16 per person and includes the entrance to the Palatine Hill.
The timetables of the Colosseum vary depending on the time of year and season.
Impressive from the inside. Don't forget to visit him. Take it with a guide that explains the story, because if you're not going to walk too lost. It's very different from what you're told in the movies. And the truth is that when you walk in and up the stairs you go straight to the middle of the Coliseum. I thought there were halls and things like that. It also has small storefronts with objects from those times (animal bones, coins, weapons used…)
It is incredible that it is still standing, in spite of everything it has been subjected to in so many centuries of existence. Indescribable place and that if you go to Rome you should visit. Although you only see the basics, it is worth it, if you add the visit to the underground and the terrace, it is completed in an ideal way because its history deserves it. Although it is always full of people, they have well organized, and at least in my case I found in the box office a person who if you could set an example for others, Rome would be different, as it was a professional, despite so many tourists. Hopefully at some point you can avoid the traffic next to this jewel.
Very nice! It's worth it to go totally there. The old buildings, the ruins or even the foundations, everything is overwhelming and fascinating.
However, I do not recommend going there with young children, as they will soon get bored. I recommend you to go there in the afternoon, when it is getting dark, as it is very beautiful, as you can see in the pictures, besides, it is very hot at noon. (The last point refers to it when you are in the summer in Rome)
Absolutely awesome travels with enthusiasm. Impressive backdrop. Beware, there are a lot of "rip-offs" in front of the Colosseum, with empty promises and overpriced prices. Don't believe them a word no matter what they promised you. The best thing to know about the Colosseum before, then it works again on one.
Obligatory visit for all who visit Rome!
It's amazing both on the outside and inside and above all the history it bears.
The price of the entrance is €12 you enter the Colosseum, forum and Palatine. And if you are a citizen of the European Union, the entrance leaves you for 7. €50 with the 3 monuments.
Please if I have been of help, do not forget to mark as useful this information. Thanks a lot.
Must have been seen! We took a tour. It's interesting if you don't know anything before. It's already overwhelming, but you need a lot of imagination. That would be incredibly imposing if you could reconstruct it to 100%…
Outside look good, the team is too long not worth to go in, or the opposite square and Palatino Mountain is more interesting.
Superb Site but you can't help but say it's more beautiful from the outside. It is a pity that we cannot visit the "backstage" below the central square. If you go to Tunisia, do not miss to see his little brother…
Very beautiful place with a lot of history, unfortunate that only remains 15% of what it really was. The exterior is extremely imposing the height and the remaining material of what it was. Inside you can see the passages under the sand where the gladiators and the beasts that ended up being part of the spectacle were located. It is appreciated the platforms from where it was classified people from the most important to how they referred to the "Single Ladies. " It was built half of what corresponded to the arena, in order to appreciate in better detail the distance of the battles.
Definitely worth visiting. It's amazing to learn all about it and the views are spectacular. Make sure you wear good shoes and expect lots of walking around and very few places to sit (like the rest of Rome). There is a lift available for disabled, buggies, elderly.
The Colosseum is still recognized by the whole world as a symbol of Rome. From the ancient Romans it was called "Amphitheatrum Flavium" by the name of the imperial family Flavia under which they began and finished the work for its construction. In the Year 72 d. C. The Emperor Vespasian began the work that was finished in the year 80 d. C. By Titus his son. At the end of the work, the inauguration was celebrated with extraordinary games and fights that lasted 100 days.
A beautiful place outside and inside. Wonderful is the only one to feel its own eternal story nn only for all of Italy but for all world.
Beside CE beautiful Roman Forum where it is seen well already from afar a few steps from Piazza Venezia. Well connected by all means. The subway station is right in front. A beautiful place to see at any time of day with the sun. And romantic brightening in the evening. And always available and full of people.
My favorite historical site! The ideal is to be there at the opening to avoid the crowd or in the late afternoon! Avoid between 11am and 2pm…
I strongly advise you to take an audio guide, the tour is much nicer with! You can also use the tourist books on Rome to have some pictures and anecdotes on the premises. Good visit to you!
The dramatic colosseum is obviously one of the must-see attractions in Rome. The grand facade, towering columns and iconic elliptical arena give you a sense of the spectacles that took place here. We booked a tour that included the underground and upper levels and would highly recommend it. The underground network of tunnels includes a replica of one of the lifts that would have raised the animals up onto the arena floor. We were taken out onto the replica arena floor and up onto the upper levels that give you a spectacular view of the huge amphitheatre. The tour was easy to follow as we were given headphones and the guide has a microphone so you don’t miss out on any interesting facts along the way. Was definitely worth the extra cost and I would highly recommend it (ensure you book plenty of time in advance through the Coop culture website)!
Quod not Fecerunt Barberini… — All'On. Flavio Amphitheatre, Piazza del Colosseo, Rome.
I do not know how they had to test a square if it is still between us and in good health and kept complacent by the robust constitution and some retouching. Square which then is not, and which confuses his real name with that of art. It will be for his special merits and for the retinue of cheering crowds.
But let's see these his fautores. Extracted, from a well-known nursery of location — ari-bred, a sample of 160 comments and Rapportatolo to 100, one can trace a 17% of aesthetically, a 15% of divers in history or machinists of the time, an 11% of bondholders or ineludibilisti, a 9% of passionists (with The lowercase p), an 8% aphasia, an 8 of improvers, an 8 of seduced and fascinated, a 7% of Symbolists, a 7 of Hyperemotional, a 4% dispnoici, a 3% aspiring guide and a 3% condominium between a recriminatore, a restructurer, a reflective and a person affected by EMI Bitemporal Anopsia that sees him halved at the theatre.
Everything has been said and you will continue to say about her, On. Flavio – I think this is his last name. A little less that she, the son of a perfectly calculated far-off gamble and a timeless art, is now handed over to the resistible assault of many, too many new barbarians and all the reams. While Rome observes helplessly.
A sight to see! Pictures don't do it justice. Seeing Roman architecture with your eyes is jaw dropping. A feat of strength by mankind. It's crazy to imagine the manpower and time put into erecting a building of this caliber. It's amazing to experience a building that has withstood time for over 2000 years. To be able to walk through the same corridors and paths the Roman citizens did those many years ago.
An impressive masterpiece built by the Romans. On the outside the Colosseum can be nice and look great but you really don't notice the dimensions of it until you get inside. It's a must see if you go to Rome. It is also true that I went in the middle of August and there the heat is unbearable, have inside several faucets enabled to drink water at any time. As I was going with a guided tour I saved the 90% of the wait because they form a very large queues I recommend paying a little more and be able to enjoy this building knowing its history from Cabo to tail.
A place to visit if you are visiting Rome! Plan ahead and think about buying your tickets online to avoid queues!
It is obviously possible to visit the basement for a small amount but it must be worth it, I regret a little not to have known before…
In any case it is impressive to see what was built 2000 years ago and the state of conservation is surprising.
Gladiator fights must have been something! : o.
We were recommended to buy our entry tickets from the Forum (ticket valid for both) as the queue would be not as long — we did, at about 09:30 and there was no queue at all. Then to the Colosseum and walked straight in. Probably considerably busier in summer though. Spent a couple of hours strolling around but didn't do the guided tour (access to more areas. ) As with everything in Rome… it's bigger than you think! Then it was onward to the Forum… wear comfy shoes. All in all, an excellent day.
Even without having the opportunity to enter it, exhausted and in the rain the view of this architectural masterpiece was grandiose. The building is necessary and crushes everything that surrounds it with its simple aura. No need for a long speech it is simply a landmark of Roman history and indispensable for a trip to Rome!
If you visit Rome, you will have to visit the Colosseum. It is one of the most impressive buildings in Europe. Although some reviewers here describe the Colosseum as "not so impressive", "less than thought, " etc. They did not consider that many in the rest of the world were still in the first century in wooden huts or earth holes. Here in Rome we built solid houses and just "the" Colosseum, with an already sophisticated stage technology in the underfloor, which is missing some of today's theatre… so to and from…
An impressive monument. It has a large size and a surprising design, and is where many modern stadiums are based. It is worth to see and know its history and what was there. It is full of history and surprises every detail of how it was built.
Booked it online so didn't have to queue up to buy tickets on the day. Would highly advise it. The standard tickets gets you access to the normal arena where you can pretty much soak up the atmosphere. But if you want to see the view from the fighting platform or from higher vantage points, then you'll have to fork out a bit extra. The standard ticket also allows you access to the Roman Forum which is just outside the Colosseum and offers great views. The whole area is rich of history and culture. Would definitely recommend it.
It's just the Colosseum. That's exactly why I promised myself more. Also the size was not as impressive as expected. I personally found the amphitheatre in Pula and also in Verona much nicer and better preserved. But if you are in Rome, you must have been there once. All those who have never visited an amphitheatre before will be amazed by the Colosseum. Be sure to take a guided tour.
Careful, there are many false guides who only look for the opportunity to earn some money and explain only two nonsense.
The best thing is to enter without a guide, go to your rhythm and enjoy, since the Colosseum is impressive and leaves totally speechless.
The price is 15 euros and you come next to the entrance of the Roman Forum, the truth, nothing expensive for what it is. There are toilets.
The only bad thing is that the shops in the interior are very expensive, they sell you the same as the "Chinese" to 5 times their price.
Of course it's great to visit this unique structure from the inside, the only thing that disturbs are the tourists. It is one of the main attractions of the city and anyone who believes that the crowds from the serpents in front of the Colosseum would be in the interior is mistaken. It is at least as full, so better to move to quieter times.
A guided tour is worthwhile not only because of the avoidance of the queue but also for the one or the other detail. Of course, it depends on the guide and his motivation.
Little can be said not to have been said of him. It's spectacular, great, another dimension. To think that something like that could have been done so many centuries ago…
Besides, it's pure history. There you can imagine those people and it's amazing.
I don't think anyone who goes to Rome misses it, but just in case, you can't miss it.
I won't describe the Colosseum because you have to see it to believe it. I'll stick to how to visit the Colosseum. Definitely book tickets online, you get a two day ticket which provides entry to the Roman Forum as well. Do not engage with any of the guides near the Colosseum, even if they implore that they're providing free advice and are well intentioned. Also don't engage with street vendors selling antiques unless you want to be tricked into buying things. If you plan to visit both the Colosseum and Roman Forum on the same day, I'll suggest dropping by 12 and taking an hour for each. But the best plan of action would be to drop by at 3 in two consecutive days to skip the queue. I used Rick Steve's audio guide which is an hour long podcast with directions to visit both of these locations without spending a dime. It's not only free, but it's highly informative and easy to follow. Pro-tip: Book online, use an app for the guide and stay away from guides and vendors.
Colosseum itself is absolutely amazing architecture. There is nothing to complain about that. Be carefully about those staffs around, most of them are not official staffs. They are travel agents. They are very good at lying and exaggerating the waiting time or the queue. All they want is to ask you to join the tour group. Don't fall into the trap of their liars, stick to your plan.
Majestic. Iconic. Surreal. Rome's most famous landmark does not disappoint. Sink yourself in this marvel and go back to the Age of Gladiators. A tour guide is highly recommended to fully understand this beauty. A must — visit.
Well, what to say, totally deserves the entrance.
It is recommended to go early to avoid glue. Enter the Colosseum and then visit the forum is good combination the two hours at least takes the visit, pictures etc…
Small souvenir shop inside.
It's like going back to antiquity see what those men could do at that time and think about beauty, it's worth paying guide and knowing all because you don't know if you're going to be there again and it's one of the things to admire from inside and out as we always see The outward vision when passing. This is the fun version of taking a picture with a gladiator at the door as a souvenir or with a dress of Romano more serious but here the wallets are flying as advice do not take all the money on.
Impressive! Its architecture is imposing inside and out. I recommend reading its history before visiting it as it was not only used as a circus. Anyway be there and imagine the Roman games, look at the mazes, the stairs, the stands, where the sand was… is unpayable!
You have to see it if you do. I still think I should better organize the audio guide. I advise you to buy it, but you have to bring earphones, but you do not listen very well. You get some Huawei phones that carry a map.
The first Sundays of each month the entrance is free. Don't go first thing in the morning, the tail is huge. Go on the 1-2 noon. The tail looks long but will be 10-15 minutes.
Quite a queue, a pity that doesn't look any more. It's fast. The audio guides a very expensive for the information it gives. Little tapped. The services provided do not live up to the monument. Beware of guides or false guides. There's a lot of opportunist.
An unavoidable place in Rome is a pity that it is invaded by a sly seller and people who want to sell their unofficial guided tours. It's very beautiful and with a little imagination we can imagine how it was years ago in the past.
To see absolutely if you stay in Rome.
Beautiful day and night. Opt for a "hop on Hop Off" tour that will take you there without effort! Book your entry via the Internet. This will avoid the endless queues. Periods of high traffic in the summer. The best time to visit is by far September and October.
What about the Colosseum, the symbol of Rome and one of the main symbols of the whole of Italy…
Structure more than imposing, disarming.
Huge tourist flow at any time of the year and guided tours within the structure organized quite well.
Fly on certain attitudes and behaviours of some tourists who contribute from year to year to the defacement of the work by appropriating fragments of the structure.
After all if when they are "caught on the fact" the admonition is only verbal you should not expect something to change…
Magnificent Monument, I could not let go of the look so it impressed me. I strongly advise you the ticket-cutters on the internet, no waiting to enter, and once the ticket in hand, it is valid 2 days to visit the forum and the palatine right in front.
Go see the Colosseum at night too, it's a hell of a show, I took it full view, and I will go back.
Very nice historic Site. I think it is better to go there with a guide in order to grasp all the richness of the place. This also prevents long queues.
Obviously the historical landmark is amazing, so this isn't a review of that specifically, more the tourist experience. Expect big crowds. We had the Roma pass so we skipped the line to get in, which I highly recommend. I also recommend an audio guide or audiovisual guide (unless you have a formal tour), we had the audiovisual guide and it was very interesting (though a little short). They keep the whole area very clean and though the crowds are a bit overwhelming, the place is arranged so that they don't become too much of a problem.
Unique architectural work all over the world, known by the name of Colosseum or Flavian Amphitheater. Symbol of the Roman Empire and Italy in general. Outside it is magnificent but it deserves to be visited also inside, where exhibitions are sometimes organized. It is worth visiting the surrounding monuments such as Ludus Magno (the Gladiator Barracks), the Roman Forum, the Arch of Constantine, the Opium Hill and Monte Celio. Audioguide to be taken absolutely, interesting and not at all boring.
Exciting to see it since it is the most famous symbol of the city. The visit inside however does not add much… The exposure is not very much. The ticket is also inclusive of visit to the Roman Forum and the Palatine but however it is not necessary.
Hate to rain on the parade but it was underwhelming. There were just so many tourists, with so few places to go. You go in and within moments you feel like you've seen everything inside. The history is interesting, but it was surprisingly not the highlight of our visit in Rome. Here is a good rule of thumb while in Italy, don't speak to anyone who speaks to you first, they are trying to sell you or scam you. This goes double around the Colosseum. Keep in my that I've given fast food joints 5 stars… it's all relative I guess. Worth a visit but don't cry if the line is too long and you would rather spend your money and time somewhere else. Buy in advance or prepare to spend hours in line. With THAT said, we really enjoyed the other extras that came with the price of the ticket like the forum.
Amazing to see such a wonderful icon of not only Rome but the world. Shame that a lot has been rebuilt but then the fact it's standing as much as it is, is impressive enough after all these years! We didn't go for a tour which meant a few places were out of bounds, but enjoyed it all the same. We bought a 3 in 1 ticket that got us access to the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and the Colosseum. Best place to buy was at the forum or the hill as the queues are shorter.
It is difficult to find something new to say about this monument, which most of all represents and identifies Rome.
Passing through the city a visit is a must, there is a little ' in line to buy the ticket, alternatively you can buy on line. Beware of all the people around you, sometimes the attacker can happen. From the inside, besides admiring the imposing work, one can take a look at the other surrounding monuments, including the Ludus Magno (the barracks of the Gladiators), the Roman Forum, the Arch of Constantine, the Opium Hill and Monte Celio.
Excellent location for unforgettable photos, better equipped with a wide angle.
All right. Number 1 this place is very well known throughout the world. That's the only reason I gave it 5 stars, but lets be honest, the service here sucks! We waited in line for 2 hours and never even got a table, THEN, our server never even came over to take our orders. Last time I try to get something to eat here.
A must! We had not booked tickets cut off, but we started by visiting the forum where you can buy coupled tickets. In the end little wait (people often start with the Coliseum) and we did not have to wait to get in! Beautiful!
Nice hotel with free Wi-Fi, breakfast was continental but plentiful. Nice roof garden with bar and views over the city. Good price in a central location I would stay here again.
Great base for our 2 weeks in Rome. Absolutely no complaints.
Wi-Fi not working, cold shower, no croissants at breakfast.
Great service and clean but the neighborhood isn't the best. Breakfast ok but no mini bar in room. Accommodating staff.
Beautiful and very well located, excellent breakfast and very friendly staff.
Good stay. Good breakfast. Clean.
Great location, most of the staff was pleasant, but the hotel needs a refurbishment, the breakfast was Ok but the bar was not.
Everything was really convenient and nice, even tough the prices fluctuate a lot, we had a good stay.
Very nice, centrally located hotel with buffet breakfast (Italian) and beautiful roof terrace. Wi-Fi may be even otherwise but highly recommended.
You need to see it at least once in a lifetime! I have spent great weekends there.
Enjoyed it very much +Sparkling Clean, bathrooms spotless +Excellent location right in the middle of Rome +10 minutes walk to Coloseum +Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere +Staff were excellent, very professional and helpful + Nice breakfast +++++++++++++Definitely would stay here again.
The rooms, location, price and breakfast was amazing. The staff was really helpful and assisting. Very close to all attractions, bars and restaurants. Diffinantly would stay here again.
