We spent five days here and loved every bit of Ubud and the resort. It took 1.5 hrs to get to from the airport, with heavy traffic around the beach areas. The 1-bedroom (Srikandi) pool villas look directly onto a rainforest/jungle, across a narrow valley, so it’s very peaceful and beautiful too. All one hears is birds, the croak of frogs, and very occasionally, distant voices from a village over the hill. Otherwise total peace and quiet! Our villa (#113) is beautifully maintained and cleaning staff come in while you’re having breakfast, and again for a (thorough) turndown service at dusk. Guest amenities and towelling are ample and changed constantly. Also a choice of indoor and outdoor showers, plus step down bath with fresh Frangipani flowers replenished daily! All staff members are very focused on guests and genuinely happy to do their bit — constantly using the guests’ names too! They have an extensive and excellent breakfast menu which is included in the tariff — apart from lattes or special coffees — which are ~$6 additional. Good tour options incl the 2-hour 'village and easy walk past rice paddies' we thought was very good value at around $30pp. Putu our guide was interesting and happy to talk on every subject imaginable! The walk starts just outside the resort. The only weak point in the entire operation was the main restaurant for dinners. Huge menu and unnecessarily formal for Bali we thought. We caught the free shuttle into Ubud town each evening, where there are dozens of good places to eat. The resort’s free shuttle service runs the 15-minute drive into and back from town daily at 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 6pm. They even offer a final trip back to the resort, leaving town at 8:30pm. This is an exceptionally well run 5-star resort and we thought it good value too!
