The stay was too good and too comfortable. Food is good and so is place. Neat and clean. Lots of amenities and most importantly the building itself bears historical importance and it is in the centre of main Kolkata. The hotel staffs are very welcoming and professional. This hotel is old world and stunning. Like many places I’ve visited in India, coming off the city street, and thru beautiful iron gates, I find the world beyond breathtaking. But besides all that, the staff are kind, thorough, and thoughtful. The rooms are large and comfortable and the quarters quiet. Everything I could want.

It us centraly located near new market. Close to Esplanade Metro station. The building is a heritage building which has retained all its old glory and charm. The interiors of the room are plush and rich. Service is exemplary and meets high standards set by Oberoi Group. The only minor nuisance I faced was that some essential toiletry is not available in the bathroom and has to be requested separately, like comb, shaving kit etc. But as I said, it is a minor nuisance at best. Staff is courteous, warm and efficient.

It's an wonderful place. I just fall in love with the place. It's quality of food, service, all are awesome. None other place can be compared with Grand.

Located at the hub of Calcutta. Esplanade. Well maintained hotel. Very old. Made by British. However the entrance is not good. The hawkers sits beside the entrance gate. Transport facility is available all the time. The fact that being in the midst of chaos, surrounded by markets, you may find relaxation & peace. The hotel staff is on their best to make sure that you are being taken care of like a VIP. Unbelievable service!

I stay in Boston, USA and came down to Kolkata for my wedding. We were hosting a friend at the hotel and decided to get a coffee at 363. Looking at the drink menu and what it had to offer, we quickly changed our minds and wanted cocktails in the middle of the day! It was a fantastic experience! The ambience, decor, service as well as the cocktails were perfect. I plan to explore the other restaurants as well, before I head back.

I have stayed here earlier and it's unbelievable when you go in for the first time. Just a left in the hustle and bustle of the market and you enter this beautiful property. Food and bevarages too are commendable. Bakery is a must try.

The food and ambience is good. It is situated in a crowded place in Kolkata so one can feel the pulse of the city by staying in this place. The major attractions of the city are fairly nearby.

I liked the hotel as it is authentic one. Location also is good. You can go straight into market. Still, there is no noise inside rooms. Found breakfast also very good with lot of options.

A five star property in the heart of Kolkata is known for its old world charm and grandiose interiors. Despite being one of the oldest in the city, The Oberoi Grand is still the best top three hotels in Kolkata. The only minus is its footpath on the Chowringhee is nearly taken over by hawkers. Once inside the main gate the hotel opens into a new world.

It's the first 5 star hotel of Kolkata. Has hosted film stars, cricketers, luminaries, world famous politicians and leaders. Inside is an oasis of tranquility, splendour and hospitality. Its periphery has been encroached so badly by hawkers and that has taken away it's sheen. The government does not show the intent to make it a hawkers free periphery. Food is excellent. Vintage.

I enjoy the ambience of this place. There is an old world charm and exclusivity in the lounge, 363 as well as Ban Thai. We always have a great time here. The cocktails namely French 65, Cosmopolitan and Penicilin are recommended. The sushis are served in a dramatic way and we loved it's look and flavour. It is surely a must visit when you are looking for a quiet evening with your special one or anyone for that matter. Just go and enjoy the drink and food and soak in the ambience.

Lovely hotel. I went to Threesixtythree° for dinner, and wasn't really impressed. The shrimp cocktail had too much dressing. There's room for improvement in the marination for the lamb rack. The seafood risotto is good, although I'd advise to share as the serving size is a tad big and the taste gets a bit overwhelming after some time. Nonetheless, worth a visit just to check out the hotel.

Well I have visited 14 years back to the Grand Oberoi and now when I see it, the management has really maintained each and every detail of the lobby and rooms, all most. It looks just similar to what I have seen 14 years back. In other words it's not a hotel but monumental hotel that's why the name grand. As far as location is concerned the hotel is in heart of new market, which is really good for foreigner tourist to shop, visit and explore. As far the restaurant 365 is concerned the food is not typical but its kind of fusion involvement. Pizza is great, sushi is amazing and Indian food… Well walah. Overall things were great, nostalgic and reminded me of a great experience and time.

This is a special place. After experiencing the awkward service of a rival hotel immediately prior to our stay at the Oberoi, the entire experience at the Oberoi Grand was refreshing and impressive. From our reception on checking in to poolside drinks service and special birthday requests in the restaurant, the Oberoi staff are all class. They give the impression that they've been doing this forever, and yet you feel as though you are their only guest as their attention to your every need is extraordinary. Congratulations to the manager and team. We had an amazing stay and we're looking at other Oberoi possibilities around the globe. Highly recommend!

Grand, as the name suggests, memories of old fitted in best the most latest and modern style of executive living. Everything you need is available around you. Very courteous staff gives a feel, as if, you're roaming in your own property. The various types of foods have varieties of options, choice is yours. We had an ethnic type of choice of 3/4 items and found delicious one, a true Bengali styled. Would love the environment of the inner square and all very very good.

Nice place full of old world charm, in a modern setting. Time stops to take a luxurious nap there. The staff is courteous to a fault. Nobody asks or expects a tip. They are helpful as if it's a part of their nature. The only problem I had there was the absence of telescopic shower. You know where it's required.

In detail bad conditions the house located in the center of Calcutta belongs to the 5-star-Sigment, but has little to do with real luxury. Of course, all the necessities for this class and the "Star Award" are offered, a gym, wellness, outdoor pool, restaurants, business center, function rooms, etc. However, when looking closely, the Oberoi in Calcutta has some unbearable, always unexpected shortcomings.
The rooms are elegant, colourful and – just like the bathrooms – equipped with everything that is standard in this category. Unfortunately, however, the windows are just as poorly insulated as the doors or the walls. You can understand the conversations of the neighbors just as literally as you can hear the incredible noise that the cleaning staff Morgentlich. Toilet noises, whether rinsing or showers, are as disturbing as the light overfurnishing. This makes the very small bathroom (approx. 3 sq. M), an even smaller one, so that even as a small person you have to step into the small catchment hallway. This closeness has nothing to do with luxury. This is true for sleep disturbing noise as well. In this case, it was added that the curtains also allowed the sunlight to come in closed on the sides, which put an end to the darkness in the room after sunrise. Later it was repaired by Velcro.
The cleanliness of the hotel is rather neglected in the rooms and bathrooms. This is already recognized by the very limited working materials of the staff.

Mr. Sarkar has been Guest Relations Manager for decades, and is a landmark himself at The Grand. Beautiful colonial building, absolute oasis in the heart of Calcutta's Chowringhee, 2 mins walk from Newmarket, across from the Maidan, and near Park Street.

Driving around the park you never expect this oasis of rest … beautiful old hold hotel which fitst in and movie right away. Its great to spend some time there with you love. A bit of Maharaja feeling will come over you… The Oberoi is very nice but has his price… On the other side of the park you find the TAJ also very nice.

Visited number of times for staff training and conferences. Next time you visit Kolkata, give yourself a treat at Oberoi. ☺

The experience of staying at an Oberoi is something no other hotel in India can give you. The property might be a bit old, but the rooms are tremendously comfortable and the staff is warm and friendly. If you find yourself in Kolkata, treat yourself to a night at the Oberoi.

I had chance to visit this hotel a few times during business mettings. The conference room is awesome. Really of international standards. Inside view is luxurious. No doubt this hotel comes within the top five lists of hotel in Kolkata.

This has been our abode for close to 6 years. I'm yet to come across a more efficient and courteous staff than Oberoi Kolkata. Their laundry service is A++, in-room dining as well as the restaurants serve some of the best dishes. If you have a free day at the hotel, you can take a 10 minute walk to Park street and spend you time there. Cheers!

This is here a five star hotel. The hotel is very well decorated with flowers and beautiful marbel floor here. The receptionist there was very sweet with us when we last year visited there to check room availability.

The Oberoi Grand, fondly referred as the 'Grande Dame of Chowringhee' offers the ultimate classical residence in the City of Joy. Location is close to one of the busiest market in Kolkata A more than 200 year old property, it has done justice to keeping British architecture alive. Rooms are very big and convenient. With hospitable staff and good service. It has a unique bar and a great spread in its breakfast buffet with healthy and scrumptious dishes that add to a refreshing start to the day and keep one charged throughout.

The oldest functional five star hotel in Calcutta. Real old world charm, right from the main entrance and the chandelier that greets you to the bar and pool tables.

Still retains the old era charm. Must try the buffet breakfast and their Bengali thali. I have stayed here on close to a dozen times.

We stay there for a few days every year when we fly through Kolkata. Been doing it for 15 years. My whole family is pampered by the staff. They are incredibly attentive. I still miss their old Indian restaurant. The Thai place is not that great flavor wise (sorry, but I do say this after three attempts), but the breakfast at La Terasse makes up for it (as well as Aheli next door). It maybe that we do not like Thai food as done in India. The chef's at La Terasse handle all our weird, pampered requests with smiles (including a request for salmon lox), even if we are seated at the pool side. We seem to spend all our time at the pool side watching our little ones play, with fancy drinks in our hands. The spa is wonderful, probably the best anywhere I have been to, anywhere in the world. The theme of attentiveness and pampering applies to the whole brand. Oberoi folks have always gone way beyond their call of duty, including babysitting my very young and nervous family at Delhi airport several years ago, as they waited several hours from my flight to arrive. The staff at Kolkata helped coordinate that effort. My wife and I still talk about that. Incredible.

My favourite hotel in Calcutta. Not that I've ever actually stayed at the place, but it does house La Terrasse, which in my opinion, is still the best 24 hours coffee shop in a five-star in Calcutta. Ban Thai is wonderful too. Apart from that, the ambiance is wonderful.

The ambience, soft jazz music and serenity makes it a heaven in Kolkata's crowded and noisy city.
