Nice place to stay… good hospitality…

Not easily visible from road. Need to climb a steep road to get there.

We stayed there for 2 days. Very near to the city. Room are very big upto 4 person, had water geyser, free WIfi and the best part of the cottages was the Hammock just relax there.

Silent Summit Cottage is located about 500m from the Kumily bus station. If you are arriving by bus, although walking to the cottage is possible, it's best to get an auto rickshaw, because some parts of the road goes through a rather uphill climb. And if you are not familiar, you might miss a turn. The cottage itself looks quite neat, and rather clean. The office is located beside the main gate. There is also where the staff stays. To be really fair, it's not really a home stay per say. There is no family staying here, when I visited. However, most aspects of a home stay are available. There's a kitchen and a restaurant in the cottage, and most of the time, the chef does work, so, should be no problem getting food here. There are 6 or 7 rooms here. Personally I would suggest to take the upper level room, because it's more airy and ventilated. Rooms are tidy and clean. And the upper level rooms even have a sitting area like a balcony of sorts. When I was there, the cook was able to make some chicken curry and chapatti for me, and he was quite flexible on types of food as long as they have the raw materials in the kitchen, there is no set menu. Best to just ask them. Or, you can just go direct to town and have food there. There is not much to do in the cottage itself, just relax outside the room. Towards the night time, the road heading to town is not lit, and rather dark. If you plan on walking, do carry a torch light with you. And the road is full of potholes, so be careful.

Hi we as a family of 10 stayed there for 1 night. Rooms are big and neat, food is prepared there by their chef and is delicious. Area is safe and a good relaxing walk to Town. Service can be improved as they are managing with local staff and no trained hospitality staff. Overall good value for money. We will go back there next year. Sreekumar.
