Every end of school term my husband, children and myself take ourselves off to a Greek island to enjoy this beautiful country. Unfortunately I was very disappointed this year when due to certain commitments we were unable to go away this year. So imagine my suprise when last Saturday my husband told me to get ready for the beach and instead of taking the road for the beaches turned inland and started driving to the top of a hill. We drove up to an isolated gate and when opened I decided I had arrived at my Shangri La — Villa Piedra. My husband had booked this villa for us for a week. I was still on vacation yet just on the island I lived on. I don't where to begin. The exquisite stone architecture, the gorgeously furnished interior — the complete luxury of being isolated yet having all your needs taken care of. Villa Piedra has three huge bedrooms. The master suite having it's own sectioned dressing room, seperate toilet, walk in shower and bath. But it's just how beautiful it is presented that can not be described. The mattress was heaven — I'm a really difficult sleeper and my husband and I slept like babies for the whole time we were there. Downstairs the open concept living room/dining room/kitchen was opulent without being pretentious. My boys were overjoyed with the playstation 3/ Wii systems which left me for many hours on my own enjoying my favourite part of the house — the garden/pool. Right off the kitchen a glass door took me to the most amazing view. You could see the whole landing strip of the Corfu airport and see the planes landing and taking off without the annoying noise. I spent many hours in the hammock reading my books and listening to the indoor/outdoor sound system. The pool and jacuzzi was lovely for a swim. After having travelled many places staying both in hovels and 5 stars, I was amazed to find my Shangri-La right here under my nose.
