Nice bed, clean room, ok bathroom, useless French only TV, very warm and sticky room, but equipped with a fridge and fan. Situated very conveniently next to Gare de l'Est, but because of it also VERY loud at night. Didn't book B/F as food at station nearby. Best coffee from machine at the station! Staff seemed to be very friendly and helpful.

The soundproofing is bad, you hear everything that happens in the rooms next door and also the parade of cars coming and going from the eastern station. The receptionist is always on the floor, so to enter the hotel you have to wait for his return to his post and he finds the key to the room … The sink is tiny, impossible to wash your hands without bumping into the edges of the latter … The icing on the cake, drunks hanging out in front of the hotel sometimes block the entrance, super safe. I don't recommend it!

The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and the breakfast was very good.
The room was not small, but the bathroom yes, extremely small, just walked in the shower.
The staff were very friendly, we needed to print the tickets for Disney and they offered to do them. Just like the last day we were advised to go to the airport.
It is a few steps from the station "Gare de l'Est", which makes it much easier to move around Paris. Being a 15 minute metro ride from Notre Dame is an old hotel, but it is well kept. And it has 24 hours reception.
In order to have ventilation in the room, we needed to open the window and that meant that all the sound of the street came in.
The area below looked a bit conflicting, although we had no problem. It's just the impression it gave.

All right, a little warm, but an outside Curtain would be appreciated. Good reception and nice room. Close to the Gare de l'Est and a good little restaurant next door.

The attention received from the correct staff, the room service OK, while a small glitch with the Wi-Fi signal, I was unable to use the service until the last day of stay after putting it into knowledge at reception several days before.

Very nice hotel, very accommodating and friendly staff who got me out of a bad step with another hotel. The rooms have a stamp but it's clean and charming. Clean bathroom and laundry too. Wifi that works well. I recommend!

Not the great luxury but room and bathroom very clean, very quiet overall, good welcome! I recommend it.

Hôtel Moder Est is located in the centre of Paris and neay by the Gare du Nord train station. The hotel is quite clean and comfortable with reasonable rates also… Very convenient to travel through out Paris and also to the Paris International Airport…

Of passage for a night without breakfast, hotel well kept.

I went in a hot season and it was the worst I could have done since there was no weather and you had to withstand the heat of the room with a medium size fan. However, the price and proximity to Gare de l'est station makes up for everything.

A Modest Hotel which is well located and has very friendly and helpful staff.

The location is very noisy. Plus the end buses under the Windows. Pojus near the train station. Numbers tired. The situation Spartan.

The good: Very clean rooms Friendly, efficient and knowledgeable reception staff Nearest Metro 15 min walk away (Convention) Not a touristy area (the real locals Paris) Friendly locals Felt safe at night Great selection of restaurants within walking distance to suit every taste and budget The bad: Room 401 was very small, thin walled & right next to stairs (could hear everything) Breakfast was self service (cook your own eggs, toast etc) Breakfast waitress was unhelpful and a little rude You have to pay for a refill of tea & coffee for your room In the bigger picture you can see that the positives outweigh the negatives, and for the price we paid to be in Paris my wife and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is on a budget and doesn't mind walking a little and we are sure that these little negatives can be easily smoothed out and we would be happy to return to Hotel Moderne in the near future. The recommend: Trying a pizza at the local pizza restaurant — just a few doors away from the hotel, traditional (Italian) stone baked pizza's and very friendly, courteous staff. The restaurant to look at is nothing special but the food is delicious! REMEMBER!
