Too much noise inside the hotel, :, evening, during the nighht, early morning… very poor insulation and lack of care from the team: apologies or care from the reception when made aware… 4 star? No way.

A very nice place that is "boutique " style. Our room was 203 which is a bit small and could be enhanced with the addition of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English. Brilliant location for Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est stations. Plenty of local restaurants nearby.

Perfect location for an overnight stay before or after travelling by train from Paris Gare de l'Est station. Modern, well-equipped hotel with quirky details throughout. Friendly bilingual staff.

Enjoyed my stay here, the staff are great and I would like to thank them very much, they gave me a room as I requested and I really appreciate that. The room was cosy and very comfortable. Thank you again hotel ale Marcel, I recommend this hotel and I hope to see you again.

Nice hotel directly at Gare de l'Est. The rooms are really small, but I guess that's normal for Paris.

Unbeatable hotel. All in all very positive. The room impeccably clean, size "parisian" but with all sorts of details, and taking advantage of the space in a functional way, very large windows to the street and with open views to the Gare de l'est. The bathroom, modern and hygienic as an operating theatre, with articles courtesy of enough quality. Bed linen and towels 100% cotton of high quality. TV with strings in Spanish. The breakfast very varied and full with fresh products and for all tastes and ages, in a warm and friendly atmosphere at the same time discrete. The staff… Outstanding. Logically, not all was dominated by the Spanish, but they used the knowledge they had as they had occasion with the best of their smiles. Although the quality most appreciated by me was the sensation of feeling permanently staffed but without agobiarme. Cope very well with the distances, too correct for my taste. The location: our neighborhood, starting at 19h is going to be the silence gradually and sleeps very well. In addition to the 50m from the hotel door there is an entrance to the underground where they spend three lines. It is the most intelligent move by Paris, but also the bus works well and several lines pass by in front of the hotel. Price: sensible and honest to be treated in Paris. The "chollos" does not exist.

Poor service, rooms are hyper small and it is NOT a 4 stars at all. The hall is a 3x2 meters. No working tables. Unfriendly staff. The area is convenient as close to gare du nord but, if you really need, there are so many better hotels in the same areas, so avoid it at all costs.

Everything was excellent. The staff very helpful and lovely/friendly/welcoming. The room was immaculate, the bed very comfortable, the bathroom in the room was lovely, had a nice view of the lovely surrounding buildings even where we were at the side of the hotel and it was very quiet inside the room — we couldn't hear any of the outside noise. The breakfast was delicious and had great variety from hot bacon/eggs/sausages to pastries and cereal/toast, with juices, tea and nice filtered coffee. Brilliant location and secure hotel — you had to press the doorbell to gain entry into the building, and it was staffed all day and night. The free Wi-Fi was also great. We had a wonderful stay and I would be more than happy to stay here again when I visit Paris again.

Lovely hotel very close to both gare de L'est and gare du nord.

We come to Marcel about 2 to 3 times a year… the service degrades every time, this last time was in November. A welcome more than average, benefits in drops, a remote control that does not work…
otherwise the room was clean, the décor is nice. We should just hold on to standing.

We have just stayed the for the third time and we still think its a nice hotel. Nice bed, nice breakfast and nice people. Clear room and not too much noise from the street. Sure we will come back.

Very clean room. Wonderful view of the train station for our window. Perfect location if you are arriving by train. Metro is a few steps away. Room has bed, 1 drawer, a nice desk along one wall, a small closet, and a safe. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom, and a basic shower. Three total electric outlets in room. Room service did not have much available, but we only needed that the first night. Hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. They can help you with transportation plans (We used the Metro). One word of caution. You know the hotel is almost directly across from the train station, but if you are new to Paris, you might have trouble finding the small entry way as you exit the train station into a very busy area. I suggest using Google Maps street view before leaving to see what it looks like. Google Maps will help guide you once you arrive.

Very connected and strategic position. Awesome breakfasts! Kind staff, would recommend for work stay or short weekend stays. Rooms are OK but a bit small:if you have large suitcases it could feel even smaller. Beds are comfortable and rooms are quiet even if it's a busy area.

As we were arriving at the Gare de l'Est and departing from Gare du Nord we were looking for a hotel nearby and the Hotel Marcel was the ideal place, across the road from the Gare de l'Est and 10 minutes walk to Gare du Nord. Finding the hotel can be difficult, we walked past it as there was a street merchant I wanted to avoid and I looked forward missing the entry door but once found you press a intercom button to be buzzed in. You receive an access card to get in and out when you check in which is also used for the room. We arrived early and our room wasn't ready which was expected so we left our bags and headed off, we came back later in the day and they had taken our bags up to the room for us. They have complimentary drinks in a little minibar including a can of coke and a bottle of water. The staff were fantastic, they were friendly and willing to help out with anything. Our room was a good size with a huge bathroom and a view of the street and train station. The bed was comfortable, everything was clean and the AC worked really well. The area was quite nice with plenty of places to eat nearby, we were out at night and never felt unsafe and there were always plenty of people around. There is a supermarket next door that has a large range for snacks and drinks. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel but the dining room looked nice and clean and when we return we'll have to try it.

I stay at this Hotel whenever I go to Paris, it is located 5 min walk from the gare du nord so convenient when it comes to London! The rooms are nice and neat. A quirky hotel with including the bathrooms resembling train cabins. I recommend.

I stayed alone with my daughter of 6 years last week. Unfortunately, my wallet was stolen on the subway (liquid identity, banking and money cards). I had booked the hotel with my MasterCard card, had €90 to be paid on the spot. I realized the flight arriving at the hotel at night around 8: 00. The receptionist has been admirable, location and was very uncomfortable to say that management did not want to give me the keys to the room until I could not pay the balance. Fortunately, well ensured at Ethias in Belgium, a cab brought me 2 hours later of the cash to pay the hotel and help out me. My daughter fell asleep in a Chair in the home, and although they had the call to tell me that the money was going to happen, they would not give me the key. The next day, I left my suitcase in the hotel time to visit Paris again and coming back, I remember leaving my phone charger in the House. I asked him by going back to pick up my suitcase and they have not "found"! So here it is, an opinion contrasty for my part: receptionists and server for breakfast impeccable by against the Director that I have seen and heard about me to his employee, haughty and disappointing.

Fun and cute. We had one of the top floor rooms which was pretty nice. Staff was very helpful as well.

Nice and clean. Lovely big bathroom/shower. The staff were helpful and friendly, recommended a good restaurant. Only litte complaint is that the floor above ours creaked when people walked in the room above ours.

Never go to this hotel! The most terrible experience in Paris! I even don't wanna rate it one star cuz it doesn't deserve it.

Stayed here for a week and loved it. Staff were excellent and helpful, it was good value and the room was fantastic. It was a little small but in the middle of Paris it's to be be expected. Very well decorated too. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed at the hotel the Marcel and I had a bad experience! the day before departure disappeared the wallets of the suitcase with its documents! Paris is wonderful but I recommend that you avoid like the plague the hotel Marcel.
