Review of Hôtel des Buttes Chaumont 2*

Good points are low price, its close to metro station (Jaurés), supermarket, mcdonald + there is lot of cafes near. In addition there is breakfast, classic bagette, butter, jam, cafe, tea, chocolate, milk… and eat as much as you want. Breakfast room is very little and sitting is not always comfortable, sometimes you simply have to move table a bit to be able to sit on chair, and when room is full there is almost no place for that room and bathroom is also very small. Its just place to spend night and take some shower, not to spend day in room. What was big dissapointment for me was big hole in ceiling which was only partially covered with some glued papers. This shouldn't really be like this. Fortunately it didn't influenced sleep or anything like that another negative thing of hotel is noise. Hotel is located next to quite big crossroad, on street with big traffic even at night. So forget about sleeping with opened window, noise is too bad. Even with closed window its far from ideal. Also when someone is talking (or in one cause shouting to phone) in hall you can hear it in room as if it would happen next to your ear. Sound isolation could be much improved. When people were in rooms I didn't noticed any disturbing noises, someone in previous reviews mentioned cigarette smoke. I also had this luck that room was smelling when I enetered it for first time. However we lefft winow opened for some time and smell disappeared, so its not real problem. rooms were cleaned every day, hotel stuff know english and they help when needed, so in overall I was satisfied. I think for this price they offer its good choice. So if you can't afoord to spend too much money and you want to visit paris consider this hotel — and don't expect its hilton…
