Reviews of Generator Paris 3*
Nice and clean hostel. Love the look. But the there is no community probably caused by a missing kitchen and relax area. Nice for people which don’t want to get in contact with other. As well a lot of school groups been on there on all my visits.
Perfect Hotel if you are going from tourism to the city. Spacious rooms and several beds. The metro is just across the street. Good quality for the price.
My room was okay — other than a blood-stained comforter — it was what I expected of a decently reviewed hostel. However the staff was incredibly rude when asking simple questions (if they had a hairdryer, extra towels, a first aid kit, etc). They might be questions they receive all the time but there is no need make your residents feel inferior. The breakfast buffet (while having decent food) was extremely chaotic and overcrowded. The bar staff (the tall, thin one as he's being referred to in other bad reviews) condescendingly asked me if "I knew how a line worked" when I went back to refill a glass of water! Won't be staying here again.
This is a part hostel part hotel. I wouldn't recommend it for backpackers. No kitchen and not allowed enter food from outside. No luggage store (only lockers that cost money). Staff didn't explain anything in check in, restaurants was close even in the opening time. A lot of people from outside the hostel in the rooftop and the bar on private event. Rooms (dorms) are very nice, enough toilet, shower, comfortable bed. Nice location.
I don't have any complaints for this hostel. The lockers were rolling carts under the bed, like wooden crates, and they were our favorite lockers of all the hostels. The bunk beds had partitions built into them for privacy and USB ports making it easy to charge your phone. The toilet, shower, and sink were all separate making it easy for multiple people to get ready. A security guard checked each person for room keys at night so I felt safe. I was able to borrow a hair dryer for free but had to pay 6 euros for a towel. It was within walking difference to multiple things but is mostly away from the touristy stuff if that is what you're looking for.
Just after something fight to get a room without a credit card and personal spontaneous booking. Personal ID and cash then went after all.
Breakfast cannot be assessed as earlier travelled.
Every time I see again satisfied with the generator hostels. In Berlin I thought it was made cool, but Paris topped the whole thing again. Very modern and the staff is very friendly.
Very well maintained hostel. Pricing is in the lower end. Quality of the rooms in the high end. Very clean, very very good breakfast and the staff is very well to engage with. Almost everyone speaks French, English and a third language. Vibe is chill and public transport is very accessible from the hostel. Do mind the diner. It’s the one thing that can have some love. Will return here again!
In itself, the hostel is really lovingly and modern, the staff is nice and is available for any questions at any time. The breakfast offered there (at least for students) falls out, except for the fruit salad, relatively plain. However, it is quite enough. I was disappointed by the fact that there were no towels or soap in the Zimmerns themselves.
For students and people passing through, the hostel is very suitable, but it is not recommended for a longer stay.
I make it short: Clean, cheap, friendly, good location to the train station and Belleville. First-rate. /An overnight stay in a 4-bed room without eating there.
Excellent Value for money! We slept very well, good bedding, very quiet until approx. 11am. I will stay there again without hesitation!
I stayed in the generator Paris hostel when I got to Paris and also when I left. I stayed in the 8 person dorms and they are spacious and the extra showers on every floor help. I wish that the laundry machines weren't broken; I thought they would have fixed them by the time I had returned (approximately 10 days between each stay). The people were really nice and helpful. I talked to the bartenders and asked them about the best places to eat at and they were super helpful! I became friends with everyone I stayed with and I still talk to them 6 months later! Hostels are definitely what you make them and I am now a hotel to hostel convert! I loved how social everyone was.
Actually 0 stars for 0 service!
Generator Paris in one sentence:
A week in the generator and Guantanamo seems like a 5-star hotel!
Unlike Guantanamo, there was not even reliably flowing water, not even thinking about warm water and once water is available, then you quickly shower in a shower, which is mostly overgrown with mold, so as not to be with shampoo on your head and without Wa Sser to stand there because thank you dripping from the ceiling in front of the reception, so that you can practically take a shower there right after you can take a shower.
Dinner has tasted of cat food when you get unlucky and at best taste like nothing. The so-called "lunch packet" consisted of a cut through bun with the meat rest from dinner the day before. Breakfast was fine so far, but not worthwhile! The hygienic condition of the entire hostel, but also in areas such as the "canteen" war/, is very worrying.
The window could not be closed decently, i. E. Also when "sleeping" you are tortured with the street noise. To get into the room, you had to walk through an aisle that smells of a mixture of putrid eggs and dead birds.
4 lifts fit into the maximum 6 people, but then, as with Wiesenhof, it goes in the chicken battery for over 200 rooms or 1, 500 people respectively. In Generator 1.500 PAX.
And if you want to complain at the reception you will meet people who are not even French, let alone German, can speak.
Where to start? The +: The hotel is beautiful, a babyfoot, a ping pong table and a bar on the roof, and a warm duvet.
However, the — have made our stay a hell. :-No hot water during the whole stay (3 nights) — windows that do not open — a very unpleasant staff, and which, for the most part, does not speak French.
-Among our beds, one that has no duvet and cushion (for this it will take 30 min at the reception, and in the cold, standing) — a smoking area between the reception and the restaurant well cold, so dress up.
-a restaurant offering semi-baked and tasteless pasta.
— No soap to wash your hands.
-The horrible smells ubiquitous in the hallway and when we arrived in the room sorry to have to do that, but the water not available during our stay destroyed it. I put a star for the beauty of the establishment.
The worst hotel experience of my life. No hot water when you wake up. A failure visibly. In the evening more water at all neither cold nor hot. We do not take the trouble to inform the clients of the evolution of the situation nor are they offered a solution. So do not wash for 24 hours not being able to drink water in his room seems normal to everyone. No sign to warn. You have to wait 30 minutes at the reception downstairs to give you information. Printer works not impossible to give you the bill. By email? Still not received either. Stale smell in the room as lack of ventilation. No tv. No furniture to store his stuff. Never seen for me. And at what cost. If only it was low cost… But not even. I don't even understand how you can dare to offer such a customer experience. And being forced to stay there three nights is a torment. Never again!
Room layout is not the best for this is noisy.
It was a very nice hotel.
Very good value for money.
I just arrived to the hostel with my bike. I asked the main desk if they could offer me a place to keep it safe (not out sleeping in the street). Paul kindly arrange a solution and accompany me in person to show me where and how to get it whenever I want. Then I went to the rooftop, plugs off, Arnaud kindly checked again all of them, left his bar and try to find me a solution in order to be able to get electricity. What do you need more? It's so good when it's about Human First. Keep going guys!
For the first time, a large couple who lived in this brand, heard that they were full and could live nearly 900 people, so it has a very spacious public facilities, the following bar atmosphere is very good, drinks and food is also very affordable. Living four rooms with a bathroom, the conditions are good, the space is quite large. The central heating is very good, so don't worry about getting cold at all.
The only regret is that the bed is hard and doesn't sleep well. But it's nothing compared to the happiness of being able to play Tai Chi on the ground floor.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I recommend it. Excellent value for money.
Stayed in the private room. The room was very spartan but with necessary amenities like multiple plug points and USB charge points. The room heating was good. No toiletries provided except hand wash. The turn down service was very prompt on all the days. The breakfast is good. They have a nice roof top bar and location wise it's just across the metro station. You can take walking tours which are really good.
This hostel is the chic-est hostel I've ever been to. First, it feels like a modern 5 star hotel. Second, they have a ton of amenities. Their bar is a great place to grab a quick bite to eat or a nice drink. The bartender Luca is literally the nicest and funniest guy around. He's made my stay here so far. They have a pretty sweet breakfast deal. Their second floor lounge is very chill — a good place to do work (like I have to). Also their rooftop bar is beautiful but it closes early. Third, so far the people I've met have been friendly. For such a large hostel it's fairly easy to meet cool people. The bars are great places to mingle. The one thing I'm disappointed about is the lack of a fridge or kitchen to prepare food yourself (and the outright ban on storing food in your room). As I'm a budget traveler it would have been nice to stock up on some fruits and veggies to snack on. Really great place! I highly recommend.
Decent hostel. Stayed multiple nights. Mostly friendly, multilingual staff. No working washers or dryers during my visit. Decent small bar restaurant inside. They hosted parties a couple of the nights for the guests, which weren't up my alley, but seemed to go over well for most of the guests. Basically on top of the Colonel Fabien metro station, which was great. Would recommend.
Good hostel with good location and pleasant staff.
A very good hostel with a nice staff and super cool vibe. But it seems that they do not have enough staff to cater to the entire population in the hostel because the wait is endless. The rooms are good but many problems with the showers. It seems that since there is a new Director everything is changing but not in a good way. I hope to return and not everything has changed in even worse…
I stay in a hostel room. The room was very clean and well kept. I come to check in slightly earlier and they allow me to perform my early check in with the condition that I will only can get in to my room after the check in time. There are no complimentary storage and I had to pay about 5 Euro to store my bag. The condition to enter the locker area is that you must be in house guest and that is why they allow an early check in. I come back to this property after 2pm and I left my bicycle with double lock in front of the hostel where they have the designated bicycle parking. After two hours when I wanted to get my bicycle it went missing. I asked the security if any way I can review the CCTV or any option I can take to secure my bicycle but the answer is not helpful at all. I tried to attract the attention of the front desk personnel but they seems very busy and not even show any empathy. The next day when I want to check out I asked permission of I can store my bag while go out of town and I will come back to stay in this hostel. The answer is really sad me. I have to pay for the locker for an long as I leavey bag. I guess a hostel are a place where (at least some) people prefer to be economical and this property seems don't have that mindset. Trust I must remind myself that I'm in Paris and nothing is free here. Trust I have to remind myself that telling all this personal experience won't let them improve their service.
One of the best hostels in Paris. Super well organized, access by card with shower and Wc in the dormitories. Very good and staff at the welcome young and friendly. Finally the atmosphere at breakfast was very nice. I recommend.
Very simple, but very effective.
I was surprised for good, considering how economic it is.
I will repeat without a doubt, and more now that I know is a chain, I'll look in other destinations.
Very clean and beautiful!
Incredible rooftop terrace! :)
The prices are high. In terms of room as in terms of food and drink. Breakfasts are not included in the formulas, the quantities are not excessive and it is not possible to reserve very pleasant employees.
Very good option to stay. They helped me with the taxi service. Good experience and a restaurant with varied options.
Dynamic team Smiling Young, I had the opportunity to work there and it remains my best experience you are at the top do not change.
Clean house, Young, comfortable high ~ bathroom, hot water foot! Location is very good, beautiful environment, can be a good experience of the Parisian atmosphere of life ~
Good location nearby lots of restaurants. Not the best part of the city but most things are within 30 minutes of walking. Also next to nearby metro stations which is convenient. The 7€ breakfast is just cereal, crossaint and juice. But it's convenient if you're in a pinch. I didn't try their other items from other times of the day. The staff is friendly. This was my first time in a hostel and I had a private room with a group of friends. Overall I would recommend for inexpensive accommodations in Paris.
Epic good time at this place! Above all else, the staff at this hostel were some of the best, most helpful, kind, and gregarious people I've yet to meet in Paris. I wanted to give them all a big bear hug and say thank you but didn't want anyone to call the police ;) Thanks for all the croissants, Generator!
Generator hostels is absolutely amazing with: friendly speaking staff 24 hours a day, top notch security, a club/bar inside the building and a rooftop bar. Everything was clean and well kept. I recommend bringing your own towel and lock to make your stay a little smoother and cheaper.
Having a habit of moving around France, I am very disappointed with this night spent with family in this hotel. There were no towels or cups, the beds are very small (I measure 1, 85 m) and the cleanliness in the hotel is unsatisfactory. Breakfast is sketchy, no choice. I strongly recommend this place for families, after between friends this can pass. Value for money is poor €175/night.
I would recommend this hostel to friends. It was clean and well kept, and had a very cool atmosphere. Food at the restaurant was very good, and the view from the rooftop is amazing. It would be nice if they had more space (sinks & counters) in the bathrooms to get ready. And had more toiletries in their travel shop. The area around the hostel is a bit sketchy, but being my first time to Paris I don't know how it compares to other areas. Hostel is very close to the metro, so it's pretty easy to get around. Overall, I had a good experience and would visit again.
Overall Generator is a great place to stay. Rooms are nice and clean, staff is friendly and helpful, and there are a lot of great things offered at the hostel. My main problem is that during my stay they were doing some renovations and improvements which meant laundry was not available and a very limited menu at the restaurant. None of this was listed on the website. It would have been nice to have a heads up.
It was very clean, well organized and freshly designed. They could have organized the rooms much better so it would fit to several people maintenaing people's privacy and comfort. I've seen some really smart designs to hostels rooms across Europe that managed to make the host's feel like he's in a private room.
Very nice hostel, had your own shower and sink in room. And the beds were clean and had useful features like a USB plug and electrical outlet for each one. No air conditioning though and area around hostel not the greatest.
We got a twin room and it was lovely, fairly spacious, very clean and a big window. Air conditioning worked well. The hostel itself was nice, unfortunately the roof top bar was closed on the second night of our stay which was quite disappointing but it had an incredible view when it was open. The food in the restaurant wasn't anything special I'd advise eating at one of the restaurants down the road for the same price. Quite far from any tourist attractions we wanted to see and not that much to do without a fair walk but very close to a metro that can get you anywhere you need to go!
I had a great experience here. Located right across the street from Colonel Fabien metro, it's a little bit out of the way from the center of the city but it's incredibly easy to get around from here. I stayed in a 10 bed dorm. The rooms were very clean. There was a shower and washroom in the room, as well as shared facilities just down the hall. The breakfast buffet was extra but I enjoyed the selection of food. Overall, great experience.
Hands down the worst and most overpriced Generator hostel I've ever stayed at. Loud, rude staff — a great amount of chatter amongst themselves constantly, in all languages WHILE ignoring half of the guests most of the time. Staff has obvious favorites, feels like grade school; a truly unwelcoming feeling to experience during a holiday. Way too strict about breakfast, was late only by one minute and denied (because of elevators, disorganized check out/cramped lobby). Then watched the staff member let three other people get food and drink due to favoritism. After breakfast "cleanup staff" is the same staff that should be working the bar area for brunch. HIRE SOMEONE ELSE TO DO THIS or change the hours that you offer brunch because there is absolutely no one to be found out the bar. Several people come and go waiting for minutes never to be served. Even though employees say breakfast is FINISHED (rudely) they say to come back for brunch in a few minutes, but that's a lie. Brunch only started after someone went out of the way to get a staff members attention. Huffs and puffs and eye rolls all around coming from the staff. Honestly why offer food if you can't manage the kitchen? I tried to dine here 4 times during my stay; each time there was no one at the bar. I was a ghost to passing by staff members. I clearly left and dined out.
It's so great here. Very friendly staff. And all the guys are hot. Very pleasant experience.
Superb hotel, very modern, not too expensive.
There's a ping pong table, Foosball, a relaxation room, a dance floor, a rooftop… Even a room to store luggage on the last day, they thought of everything.
The breakfast is hearty but quite expensive (€5).
Good location next to a metro stop.
Funky hostel with the look of a boutique hotel about it. Really high quality rooms and decor, with great staff and cleanliness too. There is a great bar which serves good food at the rear of the building, plus a games area and a lively bar and disco in the basement. Good hostel if you like a little luxury and will suit all types of traveler. Fairly close to Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est, with Colonel Fabian Metro station right outside.
Everything is pretty new. Honestly never seen such fresh hostel in Paris and have stayed in a few. Descent location. As it is quite a big hostel it is not that personal. Miss a hairdryer and a common kitchen to cook in. Without discount, the hostel is a bit pricy to me.
I was 6 nights at Generator. What can I say, I have had absolutely no problems at all, in fact I had a really positive experience: check-in was quick, the Staff always helped me any request, the room was clean and I had no luck with roommates, all very pleasant. The hotel is also in an excellent location close to the city: it is particularly close to Gare du Nord, at 50 m from the metro station and directly linked to the city center. Special thanks to Thierry, who fortunately spoke Italian as me and helped me a lot with my doubts! Until next time!
Inexpensive, perfectly good hostel with cosy rooms!
Felt like a hotel. Great facilities. Close to metro. Helpful staff. Will stay here again.
Magnifique! Very clean beds, shower, floor, … and the rooms are perfectly furnished. Under the bunk beds are lockable boxes, which, even for large suitcases/bags offer plenty of storage (padlock not forget! ). The staff was friendly and very helpful. The roof terrace offers a great view over Paris. Wi-Fi 5 out of 5 stars. Breakfast costs 6.50 euros and is for this price okay. The Hostel is only a minute walk from the metro station Colonel Fabien away, 2 minutes to supermarkets.
Nicely designed and clean budget hotel with decent Wi-Fi. On the down side, prices are a little steep for what you get, eating is forbidden everywhere in the hotel (but affiliated restaurant) and the constant policing by Big Brother's security guards is seriously off putting making you feel more like a prisoner than a valued guest.
Nice place and kind sevice, easy to take subway and bus. Nice Youth Hostel, service friendly, a ride, too. Online pre-ordered can be much cheaper.
Everything is brand new and super clean. Great beds, great location (right across the road from the metro), great breakfast. I have travelled a reasonable amount of the world, met alot of people, the young lady who checked me in is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.
Totally amazing — reinvents chic Paris for the youthful traveler.

I appreciated my stay at the Generator Hostel! Everyone was very nice. When I misplaced my towel, they gave me a free one to use. Carlos helped me store my luggage in a locked room when I had to switch rooms and talked to me a lot during my stay in March. I really enjoyed how classy this place was for a hostel, it was really nice. Lots of access to people. I ended up meeting 4 really cool people and we hung out all week! Thanks Generator!
