Amazing view. At the end of the world. Lack of Wi-Fi DS rooms. 4x4 required to get there.

We absolutely loved our stay at Vista Verde Lodge or as we like to call it the Grand Monteverde Hotel. It is quirky and like no other place I have every stayed in but it was incredible. The people who work there are the nicest people you will ever meet and the views are quite breathtaking. We took a hike through the jungle on our own and found the most beautiful waterfall. This place is really worn a visit when going to Monteverde. It is an authentic Costa Rican experience that no one should miss. I will recommend it to everyone coming to Costa Rica! Thank you for a lovely stay im just sorry we had to leave early!

Beautiful place! Nice hosters and welcoming atmosphere. Our car got stuck deep in the mud and the host Alen rescue us and really helped and care for us.

Far from the town… rooms werent that nice… plus we didnt got hot water and it was freezing cold.

Absolutely loved my stay here! The view was gorgeous and the food was amazing! Wake up early to catch the view of Arenal volcano.

The rooms were okay, but the view was unbeatable. It can get very cold at night.

From the time we arrived until the time we left the superman known as Francisco took care of everything you could think of. He helped check us in, cooked us delicious food, poured us drinks, helped with laundry, gave very helpful insight about what's best to do in the area along with letting us know that they have their own trail and waterfall. Don't forget about the fantastic views.

Excellent service, a very comfortable place to relax with a direct view of the volcano.

Perched high above Lake Arenal, the Vistaverde Lodge has spectacular views across to the volcano and the rolling mountains in between. The room we had afforded an unobstructed view as the sun rose just beside the volcano. Even when sunny in the low lands, it can be a very cloudy area up top. With no way to plan the weather around your trip, it would be a long drive up to see the inside of a cloud. Yet, if you can catch a clear day up there, you can see it all. As a bonus, it is very close to some highly rated adventure tour companies, if that will be on your vacation itinerary. Jo Jo (his nickname) is a wonderful host with good English, and an eager willingness to please. We arrived later than expected in the evening to a delicious warm meal and a bottle of wine. And again, after an early morning hike down to the waterfall, a fantastic breakfast in the morning. My compliments to the chef, who we had not the opportunity to meet. An SUV with AWD is a must to reach the top. We drove in from the Northwest (coming from Lake Arenal), which took a good few hours, and was slow and bumpy going. Our departure took us South towards San Jose, and it was much less adventurous. A friendly dog and cat will greet you upon your arrival, and the two cows may stop by after dark for a moo. We originally went for the view, and were pleasantly surprised to find a cozy little out of the way place to spend the night.
