Grand Hostel Medellin Hostel

It was a nice home but awkward because you have the feeling you staying with a far aunt. In the morning she is standing in her pyjama next to you so not really some privacy. Also no 24hr reception, everything is dark and closed in the evening. There is a cute dog but sometimes he doesnt like you. I wouldnt recommend this for couples. There are some people in the house, friends or family we couldnt guess. So a bit of a weird stay.

Best hostel in Medellín. This is NOT a party hostel. It is rather a great place to relax, reload energy and venture out into the city from there. Very convenient location close to Parque Lleras and walking distance to the Poblado Metro Station.

Stayed at the grand hostel twice in the past few weeks with two different friends and it’s been by far one of the nicest places we’ve stayed in terms of homely feel and cleanness. The grand hostel is perfect for a quite few nights, it’s not a party hostel at all but you aren’t far from the city either. It’s 5 minute taxi or ten maybe 15 minute walk. The only minor issue is sometimes the Wi-Fi can drop out but it’s a good speed otherwIse! And lastly the owner! The owner Lucy is so lovely, it’s like having a mum away from home. She is so nice to everyone and goes out of her way to do whatever she can for you! She helped us out big time on two seperate occasions when we accidentally messed up the days of our arrival! She is so accommodating and lively you’ll feel like you’re right at home. Highly recommend for a few peaceful nights.

Very good service, great value.

The mistress of the hostel is a divine, very good people. The place is very nice, big, nice, comfortable, located in an excellent area and at a good price.

This is a really cozy place.

We had a very very tiny room where it was hard to move. There was no window. Also the bed was very small, more a single than a double bed. The walls are paperthin, there's also a lack between the doors and the ceiling so we had to listen all night long to the snoring and croaking of our neighbour. Also the communication with the host is bad. For this price it was not a good deal.

Nice hostel… close to the Metro… clean and quiet area close to everything.

While traveling with 11, we called Grand Hostel Medellin our basecamp for a few nights at the beginning and end of our Colombian journey, and we couldn't have been happier about our choice. Countless hours were spent on our balcony playing cards in the rain and having local beers before heading out for dinner and drinks in the surrounding neighborhood. The location is wonderful, close to public transportation, miradors overlooking the city, old churches, and countless neighbo…rhood bars and restaurants. The host, Lucy, is absolutely wonderful, too. No matter your arrival or departure time, she's on hand to greet you and be sure you have everything you need. She's incredibly helpful, arranging transportation, taxis, extra towels, warm hugs, and eager to provide guidance and insight to her magical city and surrounding areas. And her pup, Lucas, is always on deck to say hello too. From the hostel's location to the overall value to the warmth of the staff, I'd highly recommend Grand Hostel to anyone visiting Medellin. I know for certain that I'll be back.

Super good service, and its great rent a card, excellent.

It's comfortable and has good attention. It is in a little noisy place, near Lleras Park and a metro station.

Very nice host. Helped us a lot with problems regarding our next destination. Very good location close to the party area.

Beautiful staff, family atmosphere and great energy! During my long term stay of 3 weeks I loved this place, Grand Hostel Medellin literally became a home for me. Best kitchen I have seen ever in a hostel, clean, relaxed atmosphere and outdoor area with hammocks and the perfect location! It's 10 min close to poblado centro, 5 min walk to poblado metro station, 3 min to the next huge supermarket and a calm, peaceful neigbouhood. The owner also speaks perfectly English. To sum it up, I DEFINTELY recommend everybody at any time to stay with Gran Hostel Medellin! Thank you Lucy and Beatriz, muchos besos and suerte para el futuro, Su otro hijo de alemania :)

Nice place and well located, close to many restaurants and bars.

Great hostel, great location, very friendly staff. The kitchen is nice; we cooked every morning and often at night as well. Only complaint would be that my friend got rained on at night, but they reduced the price for her. A very comfortable place to be; I stayed longer than I had been expecting to stay.

There are other hostels with better location. The manager is not friendly.

Really a home away from home.

The beds are not that comfortable. However I recommend this hostel for the kindness of the people. The garden is a good spot to chill.

Grand Hostel is the cutest place to stay. The area is really nice with lots of nice spots to eat and heaps of attractions. Lucy welcomed us like we were her own kids and after only 3 nights it was an emotional goodbye. Will definitely make it back for another visit!
