La Playa Hostel & Rooftop Hostel

I can't speak highly enough about the staff at this hostel. They have made our experience here in Medellin just amazing. In addition to this, the beds are comfortable, the showers are hot, the Wi-Fi is good, the rooftop bar is fun, the breakfast is free and the kitchen is well facilitated. If you come to Medellin, a stay here is a must!

This is such a great hostel! Very clean, nice common area with hammocks and a great rooftop bar. We stayed here almost a week and it never got old. The staff are all super nice and helpful. The restaurant underneath is also great and super convenient.

What a great little gem tucked away in EL Poblado. I was originally referred to Happy Buddha just across the street, but after finding it to be too 'frat house' for my taste I switched. La Playa makes Happy Buddha look like a shack! Everything from the decor, to the layout, to the staff make this a true boutique hostel. There's a great common area complete with hammocks, a couch, and a TV. The bedrooms are spacious with each bed having its own fan and outlet. Most importantly of all HOT showers! Having been travelling across South and Central America for sometime hot showers have become quite the luxury and La Playa's are scaldingly so. Happy Buddha is great if you are looking to drink, a lot, but things like karaoke and Cards Against Humanity night put La Playa at the top of my list.

Great hostel, bar was a bit empty though.

This is a quiet, clean hostel. When I stayed here, there were not many people around and so it was not the best place for meeting other people. The price is a bit high. However, the location is perfect. The staff is very helpfull and speaks good English.

Nice cute hostel. Really liked the decoration. A bit less crazy and noisy than happy Buddha or other partying hostel. But these are just around the corner.

Excellent service, has unique vibe to it. If u want to experience the latino lifestyle this is the place to come.

Good place to party and go out in the night life of Medellín. It's a classy and expensive neighborhood. On the other hand, the Metro is a 25 minute walk so it's more complicated to explore the city.

If you're in El poblado and want a good night's sleep, go for this. It's close to other hostels with loud music and parties, but still far away to not hear any noise.

The Hostel is probably one of the newest in the Poblado area. Its full of life, the staff at the hostel is really nice and with great vibes. The rooms are basically new, this is probably the cleanest hostel I've been to. Also the beds were comfortable and very tidy. If looking for a cool, nice and clean place that suits your needs for visiting medellin this is it. Its a must that will improve your trip.

Horrible the place as they were building besides that they did not want to assert my reservation and wanted to put me a room of 75000, in the end they ended up giving me a room with cabin and I went alone. The Wi-Fi lousy and the attention of the receptionist Grocera I do not recommend it in any way.

This place has very good attention, good facilities, and is at a very good point, as those who want to stay there will have ease of transport, as it is located in the whole Avenue El Poblado.

I wouldn't recommend it at all. The attention was pretty bad, (not to say disrespectful). The beds are uncomfortable, the TV didn't work, no privacy to the rooms. All in all it seems to me that the price is proportional to the poor quality you can find in this place.

Best Hostel in the area, with a really nice staff, clean and comfortable rooms and an amazing rooftop, with house music and live djs at least once a month. Simply the best place to stay in El Poblado.

This is one of the newest hostels to hit the city and its doing a great job with its own cafe and rooftop bar. The area is the super safe and busy so a great place to start journey while on Medellin. The staff are super cool and always helpful. One last thing the have amazing hot showers I think the best I had in South America.

Stayed at La playa hostal for 2 nights. Great staff, clean and organized. Booking the Escobar paintball tour is a must!

Was disrespected by a staff member. I brought a friend over and wanted to get a bed for her initially they told me no! Matter of fact when I was in the lobby trying to get her registered the bar tender on the roof top bar loudly told a staff member that I should go get a hotel. How disrespectful for my friend to hear that when she was tired and wanted to rest for a little while. I will not come back to this hostel. Bad taste.

Good place in the village, a nice and cheap hostel. With people always diswest help.

A perfect place to have fun.

One of the nicest places I have stayed travelling. The staff and owners are amazing and went above and beyond during my stay. Right in the heart of Medellin, with heaps of options for fine dining. Great beds and cool designs throughout. Stayed here a few times now, and compared to the competition La Playa is elite.
