Love the atmosphere and service. The clockwork bar used to be great for conversation before they decided to blare really loud music. It’s a shame they feel the need to alter the very cool vibe of this establishment with Obnoxious noise.

Lovely grand hotel. The staff makes you feel so welcome and pampered. For Christmas this hotel is beautifully decorated as well. Great location too. Definitely will be returning.

Great location directly opposite the main railway station and just 10 minutes walk to the CN Tower. Great rooms — very clean and quiet. Friendly staff at the Clock tower bar and the restaurant.

Lovely historic hotel, very elegant. However, the current check in line looks to be at least 50 people long… please put more front desk staff out so guests can spend time enjoying the hotel not standing in line!

I stayed at the Fairmont Royal York Hold Suite for a special valentine day! The stay was amazing and the service by the team was superb. Jason went above and beyond with preparing details that I requested. The room was very luxurious and comfortable for the stay, includes a gorgeous rain shower, living room and bar area! Highly recommend the Fairmont Gold Experience!

Make-A-Wish and the Fairmont put up a magical time for our little girl. Everything was absolutely fantastic — even in the midst of a COVID-19 lockdown. The staff knew my girls name — even a housekeeping person greeted her by name when we passed the open door to the room she was cleaning. Wonderful experience. Thank you.

The manager treated me very badly, he said, get out of here, I went to the hotel twice and a receptionist told me that they accepted guests without reservation for that reason I came back, I took 2 videos where they rudely run me from the hotel.

The Fairmont Gold Experience is just that, an amazing experience. Wonderful staff. Friendly thoughtful and accommodating. We are enjoying our stay. Also, the cocktails are absolutely amazing. They make them to perfection.

First time staying & it did not disappoint! Quiet, well appointed suites, friendly staff, beautiful lobby & so many amenities. Took the underground PATH system right to Roy Thompson Hall so in the middle of winter I did not have to drag a jacket along. I will make be sure to stay again.

We enjoyed our stay though only used the hotel as a base due to the cost of everything. Room was huge and we had reserved twin beds but had a room with a very creaky sounding king size bed, no free Wi-Fi in our room and quite noisy with traffic etc but hey it’s a city so I guess to be expected. Didn’t have much to do with staff but was extremely impressed with the house keeping with a thank you note and 2 bottles of free water for tipping them that meant a lot as it’s the first time any house keeper has said thank you. We was 10th floor on the east side it was fine for what we needed.

We arrived here after 28 hours on the go the staff are amazing nothing is too much to ask the room is very nice & the bed I've never slept in anything as comfortable.

If I could give you more than 5 stars I would. Absolutely stunning hotel in the heart of Toronto with great transport connections, we were sorry to leave at the end of our trip, the rooms are so clean and all the staff were really friendly/ helpful and could not do enough to make our holiday a memorable one in a good way. I celebrated my 40th Birthday here and Amanda from the front of house reception arranged for a bottle of wine, strawberries dipped in chocolate and a card to be delivered to our room. Highly recommended and hope to return to one day. Well done to everyone at the Fairmont Royal York Toronto see you in the future.

Very impressed by the above and beyond service at this hotel. Valet was fantastic and carried our bags down the flight of stairs. At check-in we were upgraded rooms, offered late check out and free Wi-Fi. They provided my kids with colouring books and crayons and sent custom sized robes for each of them which arrived minutes after we checked in. Dora from room service sent up stuffed toy lions and chocolate bars with the kids breakfast and even took the time to write a hand written card. They were very flexible and accommodated all of our modifications. Pool was really warm, which was wonderful and facilities were exceptionally clean. Great stay! Thank-you.

The employees at the Royal York are fantastic. I received excellent customer service during my entire stay, even before I checked in — the doorman carried my bag straight to the front desk. The rooms were pleasant enough, and the entire building oozes elegance. I ordered late night room service and it took a while to arrive, however everyone was still very pleasant. I would stay again.

My experience at the Fairmont was lovely! Everything was very clean and the staff was very helpful! The pool was nice, a little busy in the evenings though. In our rooms we had a keurig and complimentary coffee which I appreciated! The one thing I will say is that the doors are thin and you can hear everything happening in the hallways (and they can hear you! ). It wasn’t a huge deal for me personally, but I can imagine this might be frustrating for someone who needs to wake up early. Overall, loved my stay here and the location is truly unbeatable.

The hotel is pretty nice. Looks really cool inside. Rooms were clean. Bed was comfortable. The only reason not 5 stars is because the doors are thin and you can hear loud parties at 3am after a long day of travel and work. To the hotel's credit though, I called the front desk and they sent someone up with a noise machine and had security address the loud party. Staff was friendly. If the doors were a little more sound proof it would be perfect.

A beautiful hotel with polite, helpful staff. This hotel is directly across the street from union station. It's on the PATH simple put I couldn't imagine being in a more central location. There are complaints about the room from other reviews because it's not as Grand as the entrance? I think some people are expecting a chandelier in their room, if that isn't a disappointment for you then the rooms are nice, clean, quiet, and classy. I will stay again and suggest it for my wife in her work trip to Toronto.

I would've rated the hotel higher, but considering how much they charge, I think 2 stars are appropriate. As far as the hotel room, it was clean, tidy, but small. The hotel itself is beautiful and iconic. The service could improve. I asked for a pillow and had to call 3 times and wait almost an hour to get the pillow because of multiple mistakes. All while delaying my sleep.

I recommend this hotel is almost in the middle of the city! Very nice staff. The hotel has its own restaurants and shops. I liked it.

Simply the best hotel I have ever stopped in.
The staff were all friendly, polite and helpful. It isn’t snooty or pretentious but it is class. The dining in the Library was exceptional as was the service in every aspect.
Toronto appeared to be a very chilled out City with lots to see and do and I will look forward to returning one day.

Reserved to have a room with two double beds. Arrived late at night to a small room with one bed. We were placed right beside the elevator to be kept up all night from the noise. Had our rooms switched the next day and the keys didn't work.
Elevators only seemed to work when they wanted.
For the amount we payed, you would expect Wi-Fi to be free. It's not.
The lobby is smothered in overbearing cologne or some kind of air freshener.
You are basically paying for the name and the pretentiousness of it all.
I wouldn't go back.

Appropriately sized rooms, a bit on the smaller side but I don't think people spend all their time in their rooms so I'm not sure the previous reviews are warranted based on room size alone. Beds are comfortable, A/C is on point and has good controls, shower and toiletries are great, bathrobes and slippers provided too! I have two suggestions for front desk service: (1) make sure the key cards are fully activated and swiped at check-in. My husband and I were trapped in the elevator because we couldn't go anywhere due to our key card not working. And (2) create some sort of line up organization at reception. Use ropes or some type of indicator as to where to line up. Unfortunately there are giant concrete pillars right there and you can't see who the next available staff member is. I witnessed four people cut the line up (which had about ten people). People started going wherever they wanted and angering other guests. I expected more organization at a Fairmont hotel to provide exceptional service that lives up to their brand. Guests shouldn't be angry before they have even checked in!

I was excited to be in this hotel as I had walked past it a few times and thought it looked beautiful. I was a little underwhelmed however. My room was small and with bad views and limited natural light. I asked to get a room with a king bed at check in but the receptionist didn’t even try to accommodate my request. The Mediterranean dips I ordered through room service were pure mayo. One pro was that the deliver staff was very nice.

Was here for a conference so I can't speak to the rooms or quality of sleep but got to see the rest of this place. It's so rich with history and quality workmanship from a different era. The food was AMAZING and endless. The coffee was superb! When you are starting a conference at 8am you need good coffee. The bathroom facilities were plentiful and very clean. All the conference rooms were pretty nice too, some of which were very nicely decorated, like the library, it was full of old books. In the lobby they have old very comfortable chairs and a station for recharging my phone. Not sure what it costs to stay here, probably very pricey but probably worth it.

Fantastic as always. Joy from housekeeping on 11 in the East Wing deserves a special thank you and mention for her hard work and going well beyond the call. Thoughts… It is May. Might be worth getting more than 2 adult bikes ready. Only beef was the archaic way of processing gift cards. Why have a QBR and Bar Code on them that the lovely people at the front desk can't scan. 8 gift cards had to validated, redeemed and taken off my bill as 3 steps each then to check me out. 27 steps to process a bill is a little much in my opinion. If you ever are looking for an experience as good or better than being with family… the Fairmont is the place to be.

I stayed at the Fairmont Royal York with my husband and my 4 year old son for a total of 6 nights. The hotel, lobby, room, pool were perfect! We had amazing service from all staff. They even sent cookies and stuffed animal on my son’s birthday! The room was very clean. The bed was super comfy. The location of this hotel is right downtown which is great! I highly recommend! We will be back for sure!

A historical hotel across street from Union Station. The building is a bit dated but it has the classic style and allure. The location is very convenient, close to all major attractions of the city. The guest rooms are a bit small by North America standard. They are more like an European size. However, there are several big conference rooms in the hotel, which are good venues for big social events.

Room a little small. The street noise is quite present on the low floors (take up the height). Otherwise excellent services. Location in the perfect center.

Piper's Pub is a favourite hang out. The service is great (thanks Amanda) and have the Honey Beer that is made with the honey harvested from the rooftop hives. Everything on the menu is fantastic. The burgers are great, the wings are awesome, and the nachos are great to share. So much more on the menu, but so well executed. Gets busy when there are large meetings in the hotel.

This place is a real throwback. Many of the things here gave me a chuckle like a designated room for smoking pipes. That said they did a nice job with the renovations and the service had been top notch for the most part. If not for an issue not having my room ready for 3 hours this place would have been 5 star. Great location, every amenity imaginable (and some unimaginable), and a large dose of character that you really don't see much anymore. Would definitely stay again.

A wonderful weekend away in a historic building with super friendly staff. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I agree with some folks that the breakfast buffet at EPIC is a little pricy considering how much one really eats for breakfast, but it was very good. All staff were helpful and friendly. I wish I could stay longer! The bed and pillows were very very comfy.

From the doorman who first greeted us with a big smile & helped us with our cases, to the lady at check in, corceaige, waiters, house keepers they were all first class and outstanding and coukdnt of helped more.
The hotel is a feast on the eyes and quite an experience! Just loved tge architecture, fixtures & furnishings Very clean interesting to wander about and well maintained. We had a lovely view towards the CN tower.
We ate in the Library restaurant the first evening (after a swim & hot tub! ) and the waiter was accommodating with vegetarian options with the chef was prepared to go off menu to meet dietry needs.
No complaints & we will definitely visit again.

My wife and I stayed during the Easter long weekend with our 4.5 month old baby girl and we're a little anxious as this was her first train ride down to the city for her first Maple Leafs game and hotel stay.
The hotel offered to have a crib placed into our room for us which was nice!
The rooms are on the smaller side but the grounds and architecture are to die for, location is unmatched being directly across the street from Union Station. (Perfect for strolling with luggage…) Some bathrooms are dated but they offer rooms with newly upgraded bathrooms (shower only without a tub)
Staff all around was amazing and always helpful, one day the elevator wasn't going lower than the lobby and the staff assisted me carrying my baby in her stroller up and down front entrance stairs. We had a king bed and it was really comfortable with Duvet and good pillows. Room service was good and delivered quickly but two burgers and fries was 80 bucks. LoL Make sure you have your room key handy as you must scan it to activate the elevator going up. Too many times we would get into the elevator and be taken on random rides to random floors with baby in hand. Nice for security but if you wait someone on a higher floor will instantly bring you up and the stairs are wide open so not too sure the purpose for this inconvenience.

Stayed 1 night for the leafs game. Room was perfect. Very clean and the beds wow so comfy I could hardly wake up in the morning to catch up the train. Very friendly staff always making sure everything is okay. The hotel is located at the perfect spot almost no need for a taxi depending on where you are planning to go. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and will be choosing this hotel on my next trip to Toronto. Thanks again for a great stay.

Our stay here was excellent. The staff was super friendly and our room was huge with a great view! Perfect location for the ACC and Union station, have stayed in the past and will continue to do so!

Hotel is nice. Conference facilities were excellent. The rooms, disappointing for such a high end hotel. The bed was lumpy, the pillows too soft. The shower was hot or cold. No in between. The bathroom is so small. The walls are think (hear everything). The hotel has rooms right across from the elevators. If you get one, ask to be moved. Trust me. Endless noise all night long! I've stayed at lower priced hotels that were far nicer.

One of the fairmonts I've been to. The hall is spectacular. The only fault: there was no bathtub in the room.

Just a wonderful, classic hotel with a plush and elegantly-designed interior and a fine restaurant. I seldom visit here except when special guests from out of town come in. If you desire a charming ambient with plenty of historical content and a distinct character, you will enjoy visiting this establishment. Sadly there is a lot of construction taking place outside the hotel nearby Union Station (and that's been going on for a while, at last check). The construction renders the immediate surroundings of the hotel a bit rough and inhospitable. However, all of that doesn't take anything away from the hotel itself, which remains fabulous.

I can honestly say that we were treated like royalty during our stay. We upgraded to the gold room, because why not? It gives you access to the gold lounge with breakfast, dessert, dinner and lovely beverages all day long. Staff are extremely friendly and were so helpful with any questions or needs. They took care of my vegan gluten free needs with every meal and the food was outstanding. The bed is comfortable, the room is clean and the pool and hot tub are a delight (especially adult time between 9-10pm) I think this is our new favourite staycation spot.

Beautiful. Staff was friendly. Room service was quick and efficient. Check out was quick and easy and staff had no problem bringing extra things when needed. We had a bottle missing from our bar but they kindly just removed it from our bill. I also liked how easy it was to catch the train or Subway where ever you want to go because of how close it is to Union station.

I took my mother and my mother-in-law for tea at the Library Bar. We had a lovely time, the team was attentive, but respectful. They took the time to accommadate Mom's lactose intolerance. There was so much food, we had to ask for a take-out box. I didn't notice until I was home, they hooked up extra scones and a dob of cream in a little paper cup. ♡♡♡

I stayed for two nights for a professional event. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. The venue for professional events was ideal, with meeting rooms and halls easily accessible and the floor plan intuitive so you don't get lost. I especially enjoyed the food that was provided, steaks cooked to perfection (not over cooked) and halal options available. The coffee was perfect, unburned and the perfect temperature to drink black. I was also very comfortable in my room. The venue was also ideally located by Union station and Billy Bishop airport.

We took a quick trip this time to Toronto for family business and stayed the the Fairmont York. The location, service, staff and food was amazing. From the time to we stepped on the property until we left we were amazed at the staff and how their shined. The best part, I have to admit was the morning breakfast. Marisa (our server) was cheerful and very out going. Even though the food/breakfast was amazing!. She (Marisa) made the meal and our day start on a very positive note.

I have yet to spend a night in on of the rooms at the Royal York, but I've attended a good number of events there. The staff have always been courteous and helpful. They maintain a clean and beautiful hotel, which has a rich history and tradition. There are shops and a restaurant onsite; and its right across the street from Union Station. It also has direct access to Toronto's underground PATH, where you can find just about anything you need. You'll definitely be taken care of at the Royal York; and whether you're driving, or using the public transit system, its easier than ever to get to and get around the city.

Always responsive and impeccable Service. I go there regularly, because next to work and really nothing to reproach: nice place, well placed, comfortable and quiet. I recommend the service via SMS, very convenient.

Snacks insanely expensive but the hotel itself was really nice. Had an old style feel, not modern or edgy but cozy and comfortable. The rooms themselves are upgraded and pretty nice but the bathrooms didn't have a fan which was kind of frustrating when you're sharing a room and somebody needs to do the number 2 deed lol. I have stayed in this hotel many times and for the first occasion they offered me an “upgrade” which, in my opinion, was a downgrade. I was supposed to stay with my wife and I booked a queen sized bed. When I was checking in, the receptionist asked me to switch to a newly renovated to double bed room. I asked her if she recommended me to switch and she said yes. I wish she didn’t as I’m sure the other room was bigger and probably nicer. I don’t know why she would push customers to get something that they don’t need. A hotel of this caliber should TAYLOR the room to their guests. For that, I’m not satisfied with my booking and stay at the hotel. I will definitely look into other websites and hotels next time I need one.

If luxury we want to talk about this is a good choice in Toronto Canada. It is excellently located in the financial area. It is a hotel with features of a luxurious hotel as every detail they take so that the guest has the greatest pleasure to rest and open Chinese at home. Now with its new but luxurious refurbished rooms will make your stay so envied and desired by many desserts coming here.

One of my favourite hotels. The building is well over 100 years old, and has an elegant, royal feeling. The main lobby is something you look around and admire. I've eaten at the "Epic" restaurant and had afternoon tea in the "Library Bar". Both experiences have been fantastic.

Good overall experience. Conveniently located downtown Toronto, this hotel offers spotless rooms, comfortable beds, nice decor which represents it's history, professional service, inviting atmosphere. Shuttle bus to and from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is available. The only downside was the quality of the elevators, which are surprisingly outdated. On more than one occasion, it would skip my floor, which made me waste my time riding up and down. On the bright side, I got to see Prince Harry who happened to stay at the same hotel. Lucky me!

You can't beat the location if you're visiting Toronto. Service is good. Rooms can be old and small, especially their standard rooms (which are around 250 sq. Ft). If you want more space, go for their Deluxe and Signature rooms. Or suites. Otherwise, be prepared for tiny spaces. Some rooms are modernized and renovated (and are called Luxury rooms) though still small. Be careful what you're booking. Otherwise, nice hotel. Excellent location!

We celebrated friend Birthday and had great time for Traditional English Tea Party at Library Bar. Amazing atmosphere, great served tasty meals and Tea in Royal porcelain dishes. LIFE classical music. Beautiful interior. Very nice service.

Stayed one night in one of the cheaper rooms. Nice tall ceilings and windows that let natural light in. Not a great view, could only see the top half of Union station from my third floor, but still a nice room. Staff is great, beautiful lobby and guest areas, and a couple dining and shopping options attached. Public parking is close by, and valet parking available. Clean and classy.

I want to give more than 5 stars! When my parents visited me from Japan, we were treated really nice! I strongly recommend this hotel for special occasion. Actually my parents missed one night because the airplane delayed due to engine problem. When finally my parents arrived in Toronto, they were really tired from unexpected long flight. Surprisingly, the hotel welcomed us with some treats and a message card for us for this accident! How sweet it is?! It made us really happy and felt so relax.

Snoring, yes snoring. Did I pay that much money to be kept awake all night by thin walls? Yes, I did! This beautiful property and all it is, unfortunately has thin walls no better than a two story walk up. Unfortunately for us we awoke in the middle of the night to what sounded like someone in the room next to us that would benefit from a visit to the the doctor to be assessed for a sleep apnea. It was the full Canadian Pacific Rail experience all night long the grand old hotel once promised its guests. The snoring would put any old train to shame. Anyway, sorry to be the barrier of bad news but air on the side of caution, the Royal York is charming, but it is not quite. And having someone next to you sound like they are beside you can put a real damper on your sleep before you board an international flight the next day! ;) I know lucky us right…

Before I went there regularly but this time finish.
At my arrival no valet is approaching for my car, I had to organize myself, it is like that I did not exist.
At the regular service desk.
Room Stripping of everything, I phone the royal service, not able to find me tea and a tellière, I had to go there myself downstairs to the concierge to claim them.
The shower a horror, no water pressure, it comes out only has a small flow. What is the logic of putting a water saver when it takes me more than 20 more to wash myself.
And the surprise, no hot water during the night. I was warned only on my return at night by a note. At the reception I was told nothing. Wash a cold water not great, well I made no choice I stank.
The noise from the air conditioner was infernal, I closed it and opened the windows.
In the morning I was waiting for conversations in the hallway.
I'm going to go back, I don't believe a big deception.

This hotel is quite elegant, with a very large lobby, a doorman, etc. Rooms are nice, if a little small. They have a convenient service where you can contact guest services by text message to request anything you need or ask questions. Staff are friendly and helpful. Library bar, just off the lobby, is very nice, a little pricey but the food is tasty and the bar is well stocked.

For it's age, there really us a lot of use left in the place. It can be a bit hard to navigate, with a huge indoor space and not a lot of obvious directional cues. But the suites are fairly nice (on the first floor anyhow) and there are lots of convention spaces. Lots of class in the places they want there to be. And obviously it's in a good location downtown. What else do you want from me? I was there all of a day. And maybe I be going back next July. We'll see. Peace.

Hotel employees are extremely helpful and polite. The hotel has its own aroma and look that are both timeless. The locations is perfect for Toronto, it is in the middle of most attractions and a 10 min walk. The rooms are very comfortable and a good size. Room service is available 24 hours and the fridge is packed with pay if you lift items, so do not expect to put anything in it. The room has a safe and an iron.

Hotel Fiarmont is the most historic hotel in Toronto and I'l is a good reason for its longevitie — the rooms are refined and classic at the same time and the service is spectacular.

Excellent Hotel. Close to everything. Parking is expensive. Very nice room, however, room overlooking the elevator lobby. People talk and we hear them very well… Room Service, front desk, concierge, valet parking. Not the same quality of service for the conference rooms. 1h30 to be able to have a person to just lock a door. After several calls to increase the temperature of a conference room, nothing is set after 2h. Disappointing. We care about more than one such hotel.

Nice room and good service but the room is not well insulated enough for the noise. So I had very little sleep during my three nights with you. I contacted you the last night and there was an intervention with the people in the surrounding room, but even when they are not speaking too loudly, I hear their conversations clearly.

Classic hotel! Gorgeous! Staff is wonderful and willing to help you with any request. Price is quite reasonable for such a classic and upscale hotel. A lot of rooms have been newly renovated but even the older rooms are lovely. Comfy beds with crisp fresh linens. Lovely place for couples. Very romantic. Food in the restaurants is superb! The Pipers Gastropub is a must for weary travelers with a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

Beautiful old hotel with a magnificent lobby. Our favourite hotel in Toronto. Weve stayed here many, many times. The gold level rooms are nice, but nothing special. The buffet in the gold lounge is hit or miss, don't count on it for a meal and the food is always cold. Nice pool with a skylight, and a small hot tub. The ballrooms in the hotel are spectacular, if you get a chance, go inside one. The whole hotel is full of incredible photo opportunities. The mezzanine is perfect for wedding photos.

Went to Fairmont for a professional event and what a beautiful place! The lobby is stunning ar first sight — it feels like you're entering a movie set of a luxury vintage hotel, but it's all real. Facilities were spatious, clean and functional and it was an excellent, upscale experience.

I very much enjoyed my stay at Fairmont. The staff were very polite and made sure I was welcomed. It was also really nice being able to relax and have a swim in their pool / exercise in their gym. Best part was being able to walk around the hotel and take a look at how elegant their lobby was as well as take a look at all the pictures show casing the history of the place.

The Fairmount is a great place to stay with exceptional customer service and a high degree of standard towards cleanliness. It provides a historic experience which is unparalleled to anyother hotel.

Had a really nice time staying here. Beatrice checked us in and was so nice. We asked to stay in a room higher up, so she upgraded us to a renovated room. She let us know prior that the room was close to the elevator; though it wasn't an issue, it was appreciated. The room was on the smaller size but very clean, the queen bed was super comfy, and plugs were everywhere! The bathroom was also really nice and modern.

During my visit at the Royal York I was very impressed by the atmosphere and professionalism of the staff. Would highly recommend staying here as the rooms are all upto date and have five star facilities. I personally be using there services again when I require them.

Stayed there for one night this weekend. Woke up with bed-bug bites all over my body. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless they have thoroughly checked the room. It seems very expensive and classy but I have stayed in way cheaper hotel then this and woke up bite-free.

I stayed for 4 days as part of a conference. Large group of 125 people. Their vegetarian meals were mediocre. I was left HUNGRY! Being constantly hungry really took away from the conference experience. Elevators have a loooong waiting time. The mousse we had for dessert was super delicious! Staff were very kind and professional. Hotel is beautiful. Thanks to their nice lost & found, I got my wallet back :)

I feel like I'm on the set of the shining. One of my favourite places to go. Amazing service. It's a new adventure every time. Victorian charm… one of a kind. Little over priced… but I keep returning. My BIGGEST ISSUE… you have to pay extra for a fridge! With the price you are paying (and I've stayed in the gold rooms) a fridge is NEVER included in your room. However, they have a mini bar fridge in the room filled with tempting goodies… it's on a sensor and will charge your room if something is even moved! The lack of a fridge I can actually use is my only beef.

This is a beautiful hotel, good service. If you delay getting there, day and night they have food supplies, and whether it is the front desk or restaurant or room service staff to provide excellent service to you. Hotel Union Station is very convenient, now UP an express line only 20 minutes to get to the airport.

This place is overated for the price you pay; you can have a better room and service for a better price in the city than this hotel. Sad they use the royalty visit to boost their price! PROS Nice iconic building (from the outside). Excellent location. Beautiful entrance and lobby you'd expect the same in the rooms. CONS Outdated rooms and uncomfortable beds (the pillows go flat in 5 secs). Your window view will mostl probably be facing offices 20 m away (no privacy at all). You are put on hold most of the time when you call front-desk. The cloth iron had water in it from a previous guest. For the price you pay, you may expect the maid to store it back for you in the closet… This only happened when you tip. No tip = no adequate service. No space whatsoever to hang cloth (tiny wall closet with a water tube going through it). TV volume limit is 40 and that's understandable for the other guests but we had to sit by the TV to listen to some shows (ridiculous). No radio, CD player or anything to hook your mp3 player. All what you'll find is a clock (what you usually find in the dollar store). Be far farfar away from the elevators… We were few rooms away and heard the wishwash of the elevators going up and down all night. Oh… And they make you pay for the Wi-Fi. 15$ per day +taxes. First time and last time at this place.

It's a nice, old-school hotel. The main lobby is beautiful, particularly the ceiling. Check-in was easy and the service was polite. The basic guest rooms are nice enough but not super luxurious.

Overall great experience. Rooms are beautiful and well maintained. The service at our conference has been great as well. The only issue we have had is the temperature in the Imperial room has been extremely low.

Nice hotel located to many nearby attractions and underground "PATH". THe main lobby is beautiful and the staff were courteous. As others mentioned, the rooms, hallways, carpeting, lighting etc is a bit outdated. The in room water, alcohol etc are highly marked up oddly. I know this because on my Visa bill there was an extra $20 and when I called back, they said I drank one of the bottles of water. (which they refunded at least after informing them I hadn't. But still $20 for water? )

My stay at the Fairmont was exquisite. Not only were the staff members perfectly polite and helpful, but the rooms were extremely comfortable. There was an incident with my room where a tenant above us had left the water running leading to a leak in our ceiling. The front desk had us relocated with an accompanying letter of apology (handwritten) within 30 mins. Overall and excellent hotel perfectly located for walking to most major attractions and services/restaurants.

The main lobby is regal and elegant. Wonderfully decorated for the holidays, it was a pleasure to grab a drink there and relax. The updated rooms provided a comfortable escape from the hustle of downtown Toronto. Definitely coming back.

The staff were nice, and the hotel was in a prime location. Near Union station, and within walking distance of everything the city has to offer there are few better locations. The lobby offered key opportunities for brilliant photographs, and dinner at the adjoined Epic makes a wonderful addition to your evening.

The location of the Fairmont royal York hotel is great. It's in the heart of downtown and is very close to many attractions such as the air Canada center and the CN Tower. The rooms are great. They looked very elegant and it was very clean when we got there.

Centrally locate and everything you could expect out of a Fairmont hotels. Nicely updated rooms and great selection of restaurants. One of the original properties, it has managed to keep its charm with its large and beautiful lobby.

Everything was perfect, service, rooms and amenities. Nothing to complain about.

Honestly speaking, I loved this place. It's right in the center of everything in Toronto. Apart from that, the style is unique and gives you an old-school 60's vibe. Service is great and to top it all off, there's an underground tunnel in the hotel that you can spend hours walking through just shopping! Definitely recommend it.

LOUD and expensive — noise until well after midnight. Who attaches importance to a peaceful night should find another hotel.

Very disappointed in the way a theft from my room on Christmas was handled. Claiming to have interviewed all employees who had entered my room, Security said they could not believe any of the employees had lifted the items, but that I could have a free meal in the hotel restaurant in compensation for the missing brand new items, tags still on them when taken. This dismissive treatment implied to me that either they did not want to be bothered to find out which employee was a thief, or they did not believe me though I provided complete details and showed them that the two items had vanished. While the hotel is fine (except for the horrible flowery scent that overpowers the lobby atmosphere), I consider it highly problematic for a hotel to treat thefts by employees so lightly and because of this would never stay at this hotel again.

Beautiful British style decoration was good impression in lobby. Room was clean and everything was well-arranged. Room aid left an appreciation message on memo paper even for a small token of tip. The bar is cozy with reasonable price. The best one was the York cafe in underground arcade. The cafe opens from 06:30 till 11:00 and looks like a just normal cafe. But food was great and workers were very friendly. The price was perfect to enjoy a happy breakfast. The location of the hotel is great to reach convention center through the covered Skywalk and to reach downtown by feet. Everything was good. The only defect was that I was alone ^^. Enjoy this hotel.

Great rooms and location. COLD Showers, solution from the Hotel, turn on the sink faucet as well. Actual solution, Wake yourself up 20 minute earlier than you plan, turn on the shower and let it run, then the water will get to a luke warm temp. I am with a group of about 30 people, we are spread throughout the Hotel and all have the same issue every morning.

Mediocre hotel. Wi-Fi isn’t free for such a high-end hotel, but not only that the paid Wi-Fi isn’t great either, and the Internet was down for the entire time of our stay there. Pretty pathetic. The historic charm is nice architecturally and is some aspect but the outdated furniture and decor needs to get updated. The rooms are nothing special as well. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location.

My girlfriends and I decided to treat ourselves to a spa day at the Royal York Hotel. Everything from the décor to the friendly staff to the magical hands of the masseuse was 1st class. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great escape.

Great place, beds are the amazing, its a shame I didn't go to the swimming pool, don't touch the mini bar xD.

My wife wish was to celebrate our first anniversary here! this is a nice place! our plan was to first have a dinner and then we decided to book a room for us for one night. We stayed here and everything was fine as we did not feel anything bad. But the reason I am giving them 3 stars is that their service man use to arrive at inappropriate time. This made my wife very angry at him. Guys please if you want your service to get more improvised then please have a good care of your customers.

I took my mother to the Royal York's Library bar for High Tea. I would not recommend it. The decor is out of the eighties. The service isn't at the level I'd expect for a high tea. A very small sandwich served, when I asked for more they suggested I paid $15 for another sandwich. Coming off tea at Claridges, this place just doesn't have it. I would not go back or recommend anyone go until it has been refurbished and relaunched.

The building is a fantastic old building with lots of character and the staff are polite, friendly and professional. The rooms, while nice regarding both space and comfort, are a little loud. One shouldn't be able to hear a conversation at normal tones from the next room. Over all it was a nice stay but if you're concerned about the headboard beating the wall or hearing conversations from your "neighbours" you may wish to reconsider this establishment.

I was there today for afternoon tea and I loved it! The location and the teacups were beautiful. Service was amazing. At first we were seated in the corner with the window but we asked if it was possible to switch so we could be seated more in the center and the waiter was very nice and agreed. The tea was delicious and the food was even more. The only item I did not enjoy was the fruit mousse bur it does not take away from everything else. Everything was fresh and delicious. And the price was definitely worth it. I recommend it to anyone. It was such a wonderful experience and we will returning soon.

Unacceptable bad experience. This is a Luxury Hotel gone bad. While they did have some exceptional and very polite employees it seemed to be because that was who they are and not representative of the hotel if you know what I mean. The room needed a serious upgrade. The bathroom cabinet looked like it was made of drywall material and worse it seemed to have some sort of old dried blood stains on it (hopefully it wasn't). The room was fairly clean except for the hard to get places the showed dust from the 90's.

Very quiet and very fancy. Pretty. A nice place for a quiet, romantic date. Live soft jazz/lounge music in the background and expensive cocktails. Kind of an older crowd (think my parents are the ones that told me to check it out), but a nice vibe to it no matter how old you are. If you're looking for a low-key albeit expensive night out, try the library bar.

Real Life tea party with my daughters and wife on a Sunday and they loved it. Great starter, sample size sandwiches (4), tower of desserts. Accompanied with your choice of tea.
