We rented a room here and it was a nightmare. Apparently Canada Suites runs a certain amount of short term rental properties but does not own the building so a lot if the building is comprised of full time residents and the security guard at the front desk is not affiliated with them. This was not mentioned on the website. When we arrived, there was no indication where to park so I double parked outside to go in and find out where to go. When I came back out I had a $50 ticket on my windshield. I was told to pull around between the buildings to park but was NOT told not to go into the garage. I assumed I was meant to go in there to park so followed a car in and got trapped between the front door and the door into the residents parking for 20 minutes. I finally had to leave the car in the garage and walk out through the emergency sxit and set the alarm off. Finally got the car out and unloaded, reparked. Took almost an hour and a half between on thing and another just to check in plus a $50 fine. The next day we cooked bacon and eggs in our suite and I promise you I didn't burn anything — I am a professional chef — and not only did the smoke detector go off so did the entire buildings and we ended up with the fire department at our door. The next day I was at the pool with our 4 kids and the floors in the changing room were soaked. I slipped in my shoes and fell backwards and hit arm on the end of the wall and cut myself very badly. I went up to the lobby crying and bleeding with a towel wrapped around my arm with 4 terrified children in dripping bathing suits and asked for help and the security guard actually said to me he didn't know what to do. He said I should go to the hospital. With 4 kids in bathings suits. Im not from Toronto I have no idea where the hospitals are. It turned out there was one literally across the street which he never mentioned. I moved over to the side of the lobby and was trying to figure out what to do when 2 strangers who live in the building stopped and asked me if I needed help. I was unable to reach my husband who was working so one of them went back to the pool and got our things I had left on the floor then they both came up to our room and got the kids all changed into their clothes and coats and boots and took us to the hospital. They even waited with me for over an hour until my husband arrived. It turned out that I had a 3 inch lacerarion to the bone that required 17 stitches to close and I have the hospital papers to prove it as well as photographs. When I called Canada Suites after I finally got back the woman I spoke to said she was very sorry that that had happened to me and that she would pass it along to management and 'if they wanted to follow up with me someone would call me". I called again the next morning and was told by the same woman that their managment was meeting with building managment about building safety and someone would get back to me after that. Again when I complained about the security guard not helping me this woman actually had the nerve to say to me 'in all fairness I don't know what he could have done'. Those strangers thst helped me seemed to figure it out. She also mentioned he called an ambulance which is true but he called them about 15 minutes later and without asking me first so I only found out as I was walking out of the building to the hospital and he seemed annoyed I wasn't waiting for it. It's been 48 hours since this happened and I have not heard a single word. Nothing. No appology, no one called even just to ask if I was ok. Oh and as well the whirlpool was broken and when we got up this morning to pack up and leave the building's water had been shut off so my husband, myself and our 4 kids could not brush our teeth, wash up, flush the toilet or shower before a 9 hour drive back to Quebec. Brilliant.
