Security guards are extremely rude… could almost suggest racist.

Stay was awful, room smelled, staff was rude about it, then find cockroachs! That was enough for me I will never stay there again, seemed to have an attitude cause I stated my complaints!

Cockroaches & rude staff — fumigate for unwanted bugs & staff who don’t know what hospitality means! You get a lot of business from Indigenous people & communities — don’t bite the hand that feeds you!

I used to work here, I never stayed as a guest. I can say the staff, room and food is AMAZING! The staff always go out of there way to make you feel welcome and make sure your looked after! As for the rooms they have a great verity from casual to business, almost feels like the hime away from home! Now the food, oh the food is amazing! For the price you get it all. Amazing presentation amazing taste and oh yea the price does not hurt the wallet! I've recommended this hotel to many of my friends and family.

I stayed at the Marlborough Hotel checked in around midnight. A guy named Tony who was at the desk did an admirable job handling all of the customers and phone calls while still checking me in with professional courtesy and a smile! The beds were comfortable and the room smelled fresh. There were some sketchy looking people hanging outside the hotel, the security did a good job of handling inconvenient noises. The complimentary breakfast was standard fare, but hot and fresh as it was made to order. Johnny who checked me out in the morning was friendly as well. He was kind enough to get my luggage out to the cab. I highly recommend the Marlborough hotel!

Old rooms not clean many things not working no one clean the room old bed on bed stinky washroom Wi-Fi not free parking not free, it’s my first and last time I ever go to this hotel.

Don't stay here… the hotel cleaning staff took all of my father's stuff this past week. While he was out on his medical lucky he took his wallet… the front desk didn't even do nothing… I give no stars… just a don't stay here… all your stuff will be stolen.

Was not satisfied with the services here, the reasons are as follows: you pay for Wi-Fi you pay $10.00 rental daily fee for a mini fridge my wife needs a cool place to store her insulin … cold in the rooms, and you have to pay to rent a heater. It is their fault the rooms are cold especially from the windows. The client shouldn't have to pay rooms are not cleaned daily according to the manager especially for clients who stay for a long period of time. They don't vacuum the rugs — I got bitten by bedbugs last time I stayed here. And I would like the rug to be vacuumed and my bed made daily even the sheets changed daily. Like other hotels do my friend told me the waiter gave him a hard time at dining room bc of inconsistent charge of a regular meal the aboriginal patients help keep the establishment going and they should be treated with utmost respect. the breakfast vouchers for breakfast and lunch are insufficient to cover the beverage with the meal. To add another $2.50 is greatly desirable. Some people don't have extra money to pay for their coffee or tea we were desperate need for toilet paper we called house cleaning no answer, we called the front desk with no immediate action. We needed the toilet paper bc my wife was cleansing her colon for preop
and much toilet paper was needed for cleansinh her ostomy bag. I was on my way to buy our own toilet paper, when they decided to take serious action. it also get noisy at times when there are parties in the rooms.

Terrible place, bad service. Junkies overdosing in the lobby. Absolute mess. Junkies on the floor above us partying, running around all night yelling. Zero sleep in ridiculously hot rooms for $140 a night. Pathetic.

Complete garbage. Staff isn’t friendly — security guard is rude and of no help. You have to pay 15$ for parking 2$ per device you have for Wi-Fi. Room was dirty, bathtub was full of body hair. Smelled. Just from my car to the hotel I seen four people arrested, was harassed by 5 drunks and drug addicts, security does nothing about them, drunks were in the lobby bumming for money spilling their drinks. We will never ever return. Not worth 120$ a night. Elevator will bring you to every floor except the one you picked. Should be condemned. No idea how they managed a 3 star sting I give it — 1000

Nice place. I've been to events there. Some issues with trying to book through our event but it got sorted out. Management and staff are great.

Absolutely Disgusting, we TRIED to stay on the business floor but that was a big NO NO! • Room smelled like someone just had a cigarette mixed with a toxic odour of mold • found a weird bug crawling on the office chair (assumed it was a bed bug) • Bathroom had hair all over, cigarette burns on the toilet and sink. • counter top was peeling off and there was blood on the toilet paper • actual matttess had a plastic sheet over it held together with duck tape • water was brown and smelled like a dead body decaying Worst hotel I have ever attempted to stay at after I checked out the room It was a big HELL NO for me.

Lovely public spaces; staff were all very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable; rooms were quite basic but clean and with comfortable beds. Good value for money.

My stay here was excellent. The staff were very attentive to the needs of their guests and made a point to go above and beyond whenever they could. Easily worth 6 stars in my opinion!

Location is convenient to down town and MTS centre. No fault of the hotel, but unfortunately it is very run down, smelly, and dirty. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It looks like food in the restaurant is a good deal, but I have not tried it. I personally would not stay.

This is a 1 star hotel… there is no fridge or microwave in my room when I checked in… sink faucet makes a loud noise when I turn the knob and no hot water! Keeps turning cold even when I turn on hot water… my room is very dark during the day even… I would give it 0 stars if I had a choice! Tried asking for another room but they were no help. Desk staff and manager that had a light tiny voice said no crappy home away from home.

Amazing old hotel for a good price. While it isn't a luxury destination, it makes up for it in history and character. It has gorgeous architecture, spacious rooms, and complimentary breakfast. When we asked the staff they were happy to give us a tour of the ballroom and halls, which are beautiful. Don't forget to say hello to Edith if you happen to be staying on the fifth floor.

Expected it to be a good Hotel. Since the staff told us that it is 4 star hotel. But it was horrible. The lifts are really dangerous with door opening and closing shut without any sensor mechanism. There was no hot water in shower! And water was sometimes brown in color. The bed was creaky. Rooms are connected so we could hear people from next room, though that wasn't a minus point. Overall not exactly what we expected from such hyped hotel. I hope they imporce over time.

An Aging Hotel, with great character, but in sore need of renovations… The event that I attended had an excellent space on the top floor, and the renovated rooms are average at best… The front desk staff is exceptional, I just wish the owners / management would put some money back into general maintenance and repairs.

Stayed here twice. First time was fine as it was only for a few days, however the room was never cleaned. Second time was for a week, and our room smelt like urine. It was also never cleaned. Requested for more towels which we never received. The pool is also very awkward to get to and the front of the hotel is always filled with sketchy people, especially at night. The lobby is lovely and the complimentary breakfast was fine, but I won’t be back.

A beautiful space on the ninth floor for special events.

WORST DAY OF MY LIFE! If I could give negative stars I would. I was set up by the night time "front desk agent" got my whole life robbed and car severely vandalized throughout the night and then the hotel provided no help whatsoever and took no responsibility EVEN THOUGH they told me to park in the "24 hour secured parkade"

Absolutely no parking and the staff is extremely rude and ignorant the breakfast was decent but will NEVER stay there again.

We just had our wedding here on the 10th Grace and the staff go above and beyond. Everything was set up for us a few days before. We had a great experience. Wedding was perfect. Food is amazing. Highly recommend there buffet on Fridays. And the breakfast. The ballroom is beautiful. Lots of parking close by. No complaints.

A solo-traveller on the elevator mentioned she hadn't had troubles, but said to stay off the roof — as it's not for us (though it's public access, I assume).

Not staying there anytime soon. I checked in went into the room but got out of there quickly. The rooms were dated but great the staff was excellent but the people that were hanging out in the lobby were sketchy. I feel sorry for people that have to stay there… thanks a lot INAC.

Had my Wedding here a week ago and can't say enough good things about the services. Grace was amazing to work with. She made the entire process enjoyable. All the staff that were part of our wedding day were great.

For what you pay — lovely hotel! Historic building (a bit old but has character) and great location. Amazing free breakfast ordered from menu. Downside — sketchy people outside.

Rooms are outdated. Bathtub was clogged. Hot water wasn't hot one day, then the next it would switch from hot and cold. No temperature control in the room (Summer you can only turn on AC and Fall-Spring only heat, despite it being 30 degrees in the room in fall). Very bad at keeping trouble people out, heard people getting assaulted in the public bathroom on first floor. No amenities in the room except the absolute bare minimum (a bed). Staff was nice, hence 1 star. Had to switch hotels because scared for safety, and horrible quality.

Staff were pretty good, I didn't mind them. I didn't mind the security guards there as they were all polite and nice but hoping a bit more courtesy like you are welcome but I met the janitor there also and all of them were nice. What I didn't like were all the native bums in front asking for cigarettes and money… that right there gives the hotel an embarrassment! But the ballroom was nice and the scenery was nice! All I say is get rid of those native bums asking for money and cigarettes in front of the building and you will be fine…

We were married there back in 2012 and loved it. We went back on our 5th year anniversary. The events coordinator, Grace, really went all out and arranged the dinner we had on our wedding in the hall that we were married in. Absolutely beyond all expectations.

When we booked our stay here, it was very affordably priced and we were aware that we were not signing up for a 5 star hotel experience. We were not prepared for the disaster we walked into. Our first night there there where people passed out with their genitals exposed in our floor elevator area (with empty liquor bottles). The police and ambulance had to be called several times a day to handle the rowdy guests. I would recommend paying a little more for a classier place ESPECIALLY if you have kids. Having said that, the staff were friendly and accommodating, they had a very good made to order free breakfast, and our room was clean and functional, albeit quite dated. The pool and water slide were clean enough. You do have to pay to park in the parking structure (I think it was about $10 per day) but it is right next to the hotel.

Not even worth one star. Except the staff, the staff are great. But this hotel, it's like just a place where drunk people hang out. I encountered beggars, a drunk guy peeing on a tree outside the building, wandered on to the wrong floor by accident (walls torn up and ceilings torn up) and this building needs major renovations. God forbid U go for a smoking room. No air circulation and it smelled like many ashtrays had been rubbed into the carpet. (housekeeping standards were fine) but the carpet was in dire need of replacement. For the price it's not even worth half that the diner served a pot of water with my tea that seemed like it was just from the warm water tap not a kettle or anything. (but the food quality was decent) also staff allowed a woman (ill admit she looked kinda mean I wouldn't approach her either but) to bring her small dog into the eating area, like I know they may allow pets but it's kinda weird in the eating area. And a room on our floor had water flooding out from under the door for the entire duration of our stay when we told front desk upon leaving they said they were already aware. Just don't stay here.

All staff members informative, helpful, gracious, and easy going. Wonderful people! Central location. Easy access to parking, bus services, and restaurants. Suggestions for your consideration, please: Some challenges adjusting shower temperature in 507.? A pressure issue. Also, time on clock blinks periodically? due to power surges. Lovely historical architecture in hotel Breakfasts were delicious and staff terrific. Next time in Winnipeg, I will likely stay at this hotel again. Have already recommended it to other persons. There is a charm in early 20th century architecture which is difficult to find in western Canada. The Marlborough has all this charm but fall unfortunately short of the associated experience. There were a few curious things about our stay which included a deposit to use the TV and a remote which didn't work with that TV, loud and unruly guests late into the morning, and at least one comment regarding hourly rates for the rooms. The staff do come across as being proud of the jobs and our breakfast was pleasant. The complementary meal did not include any drinks other than tea or coffee which is OK for adults but does not work for families with children. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable but the air conditioning did not seem to keep up with the size of the room we were in.

It's a hangout. The front desk cannot explain what it wants, does not respond to requests to resolve issues in another way. The towels are dirty, no shampoo and shower gel. Nearby hang traders of grass and prostitutes. Far from the best hotel.

Historic building. The name itself explsins everything you see in inside it. Dont expect too much from other 5 five star hotel, you arent paying for $500 a night. Well, our stay was absolutely fun, theres a bar near the reception, breakfast for free. What more can you ask for? their manager which did an awesome job, when I spoke to them during having some request, I indeed valued by them, Brett the assist general manager was the one who gave me a tour for the rooms, and corrie was the one who assisted us to get our room smells good.

Do not stay here! This hotel is the worst hotel I've ever witnessed! The staff are very kind and understanding, but the hotel is outrageous! We went for a girls weekend — we lasted 20 minutes and checked out! We went to the front desk to explain why we didn't feel comfortable, the employee was amazing and understanding. He helped us cancel our booking on Expedia to get a refund. When I tried to explain why we couldn't stay there, he responded "say no more, I completely understand! " The hotel rooms are dirty and run down, the guests and the people that frequent the lobby gave us an uneasy feeling. The entire hotel smells of stale smoke — we're smoker's and could not tolerate it. Thankfully we were able to get two different hotels to accommodate us for our two night stay in Winnipeg. It was honestly so terrible, we were even okay with having to switch hotels the second day.

The staff was very welcoming but the room rates were outrangous in my opinion for the room I stayed in. Probably wouldnt stay here again.

I stayed there last june for a medical trip. The pool was out of order for 2 days. I think this place defines the phrase 'faded grandeur' The office chair in our room was broke I think felt like it was for a little person (I'm 6'5"' honestly if your planning on local shopping or down town core staying and nightlife and not worrying about the hotel itself this place is okay. but if you want the experience of a great hotel this is not this. Its like its stuck in the 1935's it needs some updating and touches. Its a grand place and gives you hope for example they didn't know the hours or cost of the local parking lot they recommend you use. How hard would it be to strike a deal with local parking? its not like the hotel moves ;) not for reduce costs but for co-ordination and check out times. Waking up 6am every day to put more money in the parking meter about 500m away from the hotel only to find it was 7am after the hotel front desk told you it was 6am they required meter to receive more money. Was not a fun reminder. on a second day a fully grown appearing mature adult set outside our hotel room in the hall and played world of warcraft on a laptop outside their sales office. thermostat wires were open in the hall. I had my 4 year old (at the time) grandson with me and I kept keeping an eye out for things that could hurt him. relaxing no, annoying at times yes, slept okay yes.

Nice location… easy access to everything. Had to park in the parking ramp across the street and was charged twice. Should offer something to show you are staying at they're hotel so that doesn't happen. Older building but rooms were nice and clean.

Avoid staying at this hotel at all costs. The room rates were reasonable, the staff was excellent. Room was definitely showing age, but everything worked. The real problem was the people around the hotel. They just run in the hotel, do whatever it is, then leave again. There were drunks passed out on the couches outside the elevators, people yelling in the halls, and the security consisted of a couple of bouncers. The parking is more or less a guarantee to get your vehicle broken into, although there is better parking in the area. The staff were great, definitely a 5 star crew, the facility itself is down around 2.5. It really is the people that are making the stay so rough.

A big white bald security guard is very unprofessional seen him a couple occasions fighting people who seem intoxicated. Kicking an old man who fell to the ground for no reason and fighting a smaller young lady in her 20's. What kind of hotel represents this kind of behaviour on hotel property I'm sure this is not security procedure. Both were aboriginal. I'm thinking he is racist. I'm sure this guy has bullied a lot more people they just haven't complaint about him. Fire his ass or get the proper training he needs.

I've planned several large events over the past few years in various cities and venues. The personalized and top-notch service provided by the Services Manager Grace Rents made planning and executing our large social event at the Marlborough an absolute delight. Everything from being flexible with dates, menu options, deposit, payment etc. Was such a pleasant experience. We knew that we were fairly high maintenance customers and our requirements and requests were uncommon and extensive, and yet Grace and her staff were able to execute everything perfectly and did not disappoint us on any aspect. This was hands down the best service I have ever received from a venue. Location of the venue is great, although parking can be difficult (to be fair this is right downtown). Will definitely be back again, and will definitely recommend to others.

Super sketchy. I did not feel comfortable or safe in the hotel. Avoid at all costs.

Kinda ghetto for a bill a day place, indians getting rowdy in the halls n ish. Makes it hard to get my john on. But i'd do it again *john squad*.

I am not sure who the current owner of this hotel is, but it is absolutely heartbreaking to see such an important landmark within the City of Winnipeg degrade to the likes of a main street hotel. This building is incredible, yet the current ownership clearly does not care one bit about the history of the building nor the experience of the customer. I would not be surprised if the building owners added a beer vendor and ripped out the restaurant to make room for VLT's. It has clearly turned into a rooming house judging by the residents of the hotel as well as the state of interior. I took the elevator up to the skyview ballroom, at each floor we stopped at there were people smoking in the hallways. I hope for the sake of the city that somebody who gives a shit about the historical magnitude of this building takes it over and implements some standards.

Ceremony in churchills dining room which is so beautiful with restored (or just untouched) wood, vaulted ceilings, and beautiful stained glass! So romantic and perfect!
Our reception was in Marlborough hall and with gigantic windows that were opened at night to let all of the beauty of downtown spill in it was gorgeous. The staff were amazing, keeping in touch and making sure our guests and ourselves were having a good time and seeing to it that we didn't need anything.
They were so super accomodating and I would recommend this place to anyone who holds romantic old architecture in their heart.
Thank you so much to the event staff and catering staff for making last night one of the best most special nights of my life!

Their was a full fingernail on the table in the restraunt my mother called over a waiter to complain and he just blew it off the table like it was all good! EW.

This hotel is straight GARBAGE! Not even close to what they advertise online. Smells like smoke and sh*t nearly everywhere in the building. On top of that, they charged us an extra fee after we had already paid in full online before we could get to our room. Don't be fooled by the 4.5 Google ratings. Even zero stars is too generous for this place.
