Decent views of the canyon. Well maintained hiking patch with benches along the way. Be sure to go early in the morning during high traffic seasons as the path gets flooded with tourists who think they are the center of the universe. There's a few really good lookouts to see the falls. Also parking is limited so again try to make it there early.

Amazing scenery. If you can, I highly recommend getting there early for a few reasons… one, you'll get a parking spot near the entrance and two, there is less people when you start your hike. I arrived around 9:00am and the parking lot was already half full. By the time I hiked back from Ink Pots it was very busy and the cars were lined up for nearly a 1km. When I was there they did have a small stand selling coffee and ice cream but it wasn't opened when I started my journey.

Beautiful waterfalls, about 45 minutes to the lower falls, but you get to see awesome views of the Canyon while you hike through it on a narrow path. Very cool rock faces and the river is neat, the water fall at the end is beautiful. There is a little cave at the end of the lower falls to get a better view but the line up to get into the cave is very long so about an hour wait. You can hike uphill to get a view of the upper falls too but that would have been an extra hour of hiking which we were not prepared to do. Definitely worth the trip to visit if you get the chance. Path is not wheel chair friendly and is not Stroller friendly. It is about narrow enough for 2 people to cross each other side by side while walking, one going one direction and the other going the other direction.

Good hike, very easy, all railing. You can have a stroller, pets, and disabled friendly. It gets so packed though. Probably the most popular easy hike. The waters were very nice, the upper Falls still have ice around it (late May). You’ll sweat a little, but it’s a nice walk. After you are done, get some ice cream.

Great hike along a stunning mountain stream. We went in May and the water was powerful. Solid hike to the upper falls, not too strenuous. The additional distance to the Ink Pots was almost all uphill and a bit more work, but worth it. Note that in several places there are bridges built into rock walls along the stream. They are well built and have rails, but may be scary for some esp with fear of heights.

Super beautiful scenery, easy to climb, all the way to see the special spectacular. Luck also caught a rainbow at the waterfall and saw no melting snow.

Did this hike in March and early May. March in the winter was definitely more spectacular, but icy and crampons were required. The Frozen falls were magnificent! In May it was cloudy, muddy, and had patches of ice. Still beautiful, but not as breathtaking as pictures I've seen other people post from sunny summer days. I'd recommend visiting in the winter or height of summer. But if you're in the area in spring, it's still totally worth it. Easy hike for all ages. Some incline and some slippery places so wear sturdy, grippy shoes.

Beautiful Canyon with various waterfalls.

Very nice area and views of the waterfall. Gets pretty busy with tourists so go early if you can. A lot stop at the first waterfall so it's quieter further on. Its an easy walk, watch for ice in months other than summer. If there's ice you'll need to use the hand rails to guide yourself down the steep walk ways.

Hiked this about a month ago. We had a lot of snow this winter, and there were parts of the trail where there was over a foot of packed down snow, greatly reducing the height of the fences along the cliffs for kids that love to run. Overall we all had fun, but were holding hands with our small kids much more than I expected having last done it in the summer time. Length to the lower falls are perfect for kids aged 2-6. Ends with a neat cave and view of the ice falls in the winter, or water falls in the summer. Gave it a 4 star because its getting too busy. There are so many other awesome gems in the mountains.

We went in April, there was a lot of snow, if they have time to 30 km from BANFF it is worth to visit them, if there is snow carry good footwear as it forms much ice.

Very pretty area to hike through… you kind of get a little bit of everything — forest, rocks, bridges, waterfall, cliffs and a small cave. Lovely scenery. Great for a family hike. It does get a bit busy with tours and visitors but I wouldn't say it's too crowded. I highly recommend ice cleats as much of the pathways are slippery with ice, I saw many people falling.

The hike to the lower falls is quite short and very easy, and certainly worthwhile. New fences have been added along the parts of the trail that are near drop-offs making it feel much safer, especially with young children. Seeing the erosion that has happened over the years, especially the grotto right near the lower falls, is super interesting.

In winter fabulous, as it will be in summer.

Johnston Canyon what can I say this place is amazing you definitely want to bring the family and friends but try to do it in the early morning or afternoon to beat the peak traffic. This place is great in winter and summer I've hiked it in both seasons of been right up to the ink pots aswell. The place has great views really nice scenery and the occasional Wildlife when there's not too many people. I would definitely recommend this place whatever your Fitness level. You can go to the lower Falls the Upper Falls all the ink pots. So there is something for everyone.

A great hike in the snow during the winter. I would leave 2 hours to complete the upper falls and return. Be careful leaving the improved walkway as the ice on the stream can be thin. Added traction, such as crampons or traction cleats like Yaktrax are super helpful! Costco has them on sale and most outdoors outfitters have some form of them available in the winter.

Great fun in winter. Not too many tourists and were able to witness some ice climbing at the upper falls. Would recommend some snow/grips for some parts but you should be fine without them.

Nice hike in a canyon with falls.

This is one of the more beautiful places I've seen during the winter. Not only is this place stunning, but the drive out is breathtaking. There is plenty of parking available, and if it's icy weather snow cleats are highly recommended. The trail is much easier to navigate with a little extra grip for your feet. I would highly recommend visiting this place at least once.

Hiked this yesterday on a whim and was really surprised how amazing this place is! Honestly it took my breath away! Was a bit chilly but the trail is really well maintained and it wasn't a very hard hike. A bit icy in parts but if you ha e good winter boots or cleats you should be fine! Would recommend to everyone!

Its a-friendly hiking trail. You walk the next to the stream under the canyon and walk into the woods. Would is a must see location if I am wondering in the National park.
There are a IG famous spot to take photo, while its off the track and a bit slippery to get down. Suitable for parents to go, the road are very good walk, a total of two layers of waterfall! Along the way you can walk by the Sichuan stream, feel the nature, the second layer of waterfall is very pound impressive. There is also a private attraction, IG secret, but it's a bit slippery to walk down the trail. Suggest that if you are in a national park, be sure to come and go to Johnston Canyon!

Can't tell if more stunning in winter or summer. But worth seeing both. It's popular so it can be quite busy. Trails are easy. Wear ice cleats in winter.

Our go to summer hike. Really busy at the lower falls, but higher you go out to the ink pots it gets quieter. Beautiful views along the way. Well worth the trip. Also beautiful for winter treks. Ice cleats aren’t necessary, but definitely would come in ha day if you have them. Frozen waterfalls are lovely.

This was beautiful. The falls are gorgeous all year. The trail was very well maintained and leads to a perfect picture location for the falls.

Johnston canyon is beautiful in the winter time we have been there in the summer time and winter time, the winter time is beautiful there it's a little icy I would recommend ice cleats, so worth the hike tho and there wasn't much people there which made it a perfect day and hike!. And watching this couple ice climb was stunning!

All I can say is WOW. Totally worth doing keep in mind the trails are icy and slippy I recommend ski pole and spikes for your shoes and snow in you best friend to walk on. Please and I mean please remember to bring your camera. Here some of want you will see. Take it all in with your eyes going up. Take the pictures going down.

The picture I've posted for this review is the lower falls from the walkway that leads to the selfie spot. There was a very long line up to get into the spot that was right up close to the falls. I don't think it would have been worth the wait for the inside, just a little ways up further there are several falls that are just as nice and you can get even closer. This is a decent place to spend a day, bring a lunch and sit on some trees and enjoy the nature around you.

A trip well worth the walk. Every turn is a gem for the eye and then you reach the falls and lose a little breath. It appears like it should be in some tropical oasis with its blue pools inviting and swirling. The window that takes you the front row was impressive. Get out there and see this.

Johnston Canyon is a lovely place to visit with your family or friends. It is easy to walk over and even hike if you want to. The trails is clean and well maintained.

Walk in the canyon along a small river with beautiful clear water. There are two falls. The lower falls are the prettiest.

Great place for people of all ages and fitness levels. It is an easy walk that shows off multiple waterfalls along the way.

Nice, simple, easy walk to the lower falls. Beautifully maintained with perfect amount of educational signage. Wonderful and varied viewing options for the falls.

This was such an awesome hike. Lovely views the whole way up! (Or down! ) If you have the ability I would definitely try to go up to the ink well pots. But even if you're a beginner hill climber this is an easy enough path to walk up it's well maintained and over all a wonderful way to spend the day!

What a breathtaking place! After a short hike through the fascinating canyon (suitable for all ages), always along the raging river, you reach the small and large waterfalls. Beautiful!

Wear plenty of insect repellent the insects were biting very well & also wear sensible shoes. It's a good 20 minute walk to the lower falls good footpaths but they go up & down hills. A few seats but lots of people it's a very popular place.

An easy hike but worth it. At the end there's a small tunnel in the rocks that allows you to see the falls and get quite wet. We also went to the upper falls which was beautiful. There was a small trail off the main trail that allowed us to go under some falls.

We were lucky and were there in the late afternoon. It was then not too crowded and could thus enjoy the walk and the view.

Very impressive and worth the rather long march! A real little adventure with the mini-tunnel.
Unfortunately, we didn't make it to the Ink Pots.

Great hike for beginners. People of all ages, there were lots of kids with their parents doing the hike. A total on 1 hour or so to do the two falls. But I recommend taking the time to enjoy the beautiful views of the river and nature around this hike. It can be a bit tough when is very crowded but you can always step aside to take pictures and enjoy the view. Parks Canada made a great job building the bridges to walk pretty much along side the river. -I do suggest bringing comfy shoes as there are some uphills to go through… converse or flat shoes? Nope. Saw a few people on Those struggling and slipping… can't imagine the back and feet pain after. Personally, the best fall out of the two is the Lower Fall, that little cave before you get to see the majestic short fall is so cool. — pack you water bottle and bring some snacks packed in your ziplock bag. -pretty safe hike.

Great place for hiking. Very crowded at the weekend.

Very nice, go there early in the morning and enjoy the lower fall, but do not stop there, climb to the upper fall and then continue to the Ink Potts, a wonderful place that you reach without major fatigue. There you will be practically alone.
On the way back walk quietly to the lower Fall then from there onwards will be a bit like being at Fox town in Mendrisio on Saturday afternoon, but it does nothing because the tour you will have enjoyed.

1000 trample animals in front of and behind us.
I thought, wow, there's something quite big coming now though. Maybe a waterfall like the Helmcken Falls in the Wells Gray PP.!?!?!

Cabins were very nice and clean. The location is secluded and away from the highway but there are lots of tourists in this area. Hiking to the upper and lower falls is very nice even in the winter.

Great hike, awesome scenery but very busy. Should go in the late afternoon to avoid most of the people.

Beautiful sight to see. This area is quite popular and therefore has a lot of people on the trails. The clear streams, blue water and the rushing waterfalls makes this place worth the walk.

Nice canyon. Someone really needs to clean the up though. Rocks everywhere. Friggin mess.

There were short curly black hairs BAKED INTO our patchos at the restaurant. It was the most revolting thing we have ever experienced. The server told us he would "take care of it" so we thought maybe our bill was taken care of. Nope, he meant we wouldn't pay for the patchos. OF COURSE WE WEREN'T GOING TO PAY FOR HAIRY PATCHOS! 0/10 would never eat there again. The hike was great though.

I guess Johnston Canyon has been given too much credit. In terms of hiking and exercise, it's good for kids age 4-10 and seniors 67-year-old and above. In terms of scenery, it is OK, not something extravagant that wows you. One piece of advice for the ones who think they would enjoy, is to plan ahead so they wouldn't get caught in the crowd of weed smokers and such.

A MUST SEE! All simply beautiful and spectacular. I have stayed here 3 times and I are still above.

Everything was very cozy. Keep up the good work. Staff were very friendly at check in and in restaurant. The weather was very cooperative too.

Customer service sucks! Called them, promise to call me back, never did. What can you expect then? Definitely would not recommend to anybody.

Very nice cabins! Extremely clean, and affordable pricing. Cabins are in a wooded area and right at the mouth of the Johnston Canyon hiking trail.

This is billed as a resort, but with no pool, kids playground or other entertainment it is really just a set of cabins. Our cabin was spatious, but old and tired. Certainly not worth the premium price that they were asking. The meals at the restaurant were also a disappointment. Cold and not well prepared, but at a premium price. I would not recommend this as a resort. It is a considerably overprice cabin.
