Fantastic staff and great location. The building is tired and NOT up to Sofitel standard. Room 513 is a dump at any star standard. Plumbing (drains) are a disaster. We were flooded with waste water for four of our 5 days there. This facility is a brand busting venue forSofitel.

Excellent place for tourist. Very good location close to restaurants in front of the beach, safe and good services.

Great location, very nice breakfast, but the quality of service at the rooftop bar could be definitively improved. Furthermore (and that’s what ruined my experience) since I’m traveling with a baby and due to airplane schedule I asked for a late check out — and the best they can allow is 1pm (they would charge me half day for a 2pm check out). Very disappointing for a 5* to be honest after a one week stay. I won’t be back to this hotel for sure.

I did not find this as elegant as I expected it to be for the cost. Rooms are clean, comfortable, but simple. The restaurant and roof pool are nice features. I didn't get to experience the beach except for one evening walk.

Friendly and professional staff. Nice location and the rooms are ok. Nevertheless: the place needs an update. Paint is falling off (march 2018), bathroom is really old fashion. My safe mallfunctioned (batteries or so) and the door would suddenly not open and needed three visits until repaired. In front om the beach they have a frew beds they provide to their guests. Nice but its extremely cramped and there are just too many people who like to sell you drinks etc (the ones who have a stationary facility on the beach not the hard working heroes who walk the beach with all their merchandise all day). So needs an urgent update to be considered five star and beach facilities reexamined.

Right in front of the beach, roof top pool… In the shadow… So it's really cold. But you have a beautiful beach in front.

The hotel beautiful just like the attention and location. The staff that work there are very friendly and polite. The breakfast is great.

Although it was in remodeling the front and that generated certain limitations when entering and leaving the hotel, the staff dissimulated it with very good attention at the access doors. The small pool but the view from the 23rd floor should be of the best in Rio. Breakfast very good, they reput constantly. Very bad milk tea. My suggestion is that the guest can serve the tea or coffee freely. The waiters could not attend so many tables at once and you had to make up with the juices. Very comfortable rooms and excellent service.

Good location, great service and amazing views. The rooms and facilities needs to be updated. Area relatively safe but be careful as we witnessed a gun fight in full daylight only 3 blocks away from the hotel.

Best location ever! Just across the street from a great beach a beautiful view to the Morro dos dois irmãos. Very good breakfast. Nice bedrooms, spacious and comfortable. Super small pool (not actually a proper pool given that water is 1m deep) and really crowded rooftop. The overall aspect of the hotel does not impress, specially from the outside, with paint coming of. They were starting to renovate so hopefully will be up to standards again soon.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 night. Its a nice hotel. We had a problem with the shower and it was not fixed even though we complained about it on our first night.

My husband and I have traveling for a month in South America for honeymoon. Sofitel in Ipanema was the best choice ever! Beautiful view and staff comparing to other similar hotels in other countries! Receptionist, Juan and Walter were really helpful and appreciate for all the information and welcoming! So we could travel safe and enjoy our honeymoon in Rio, also housekeeping for 6 days was amazing! we sure we will definitely come back!

I loved everything about this place. The location was amazing, the food was delicious, and the staff were very kind and accommodating. There are 2 room types: 1 queen bed is one type and 2 doubles is the other type. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

Good enough! Rooms Ipanema Beach!

Regular — very poor Concierge experience. Very bad restaurant suggestions. Bad information about tours and tickets.

The personnel at the Reception Desk were polite and helpful. Bellstaff helpful. My stay was brief being a single overnight. I feel that Sofitel put a coat of paint on this property and some new carpet but not much else. I found the room just 'unclean' (I'm not speaking about from a housekeeping standpoint). The wear and tear is very evident in the furnishings and hardware. If you are expecting 5 star — walk away. Food in the restaurant was good for lunch and dinner. I would recommend elsewhere until a true renovation can take place.

Goodwill is something that Sofitel doesn't know what it is. Solve the problem makes me happy stop playing with me and my time with stupid suggestions for a compensation.

We took some massages at the spa and it was excellent.
Very good restaurant of the last floor on the terrace.
We did not take the breakfast buffet which I consider is a bit pricey as you can have breakfast very well in the surroundings where there are nice restaurants that offer very full and good breakfasts for much less than they charge at the hotel.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was very nice and the staff were very attentive and very welcoming.

I have been thinking several times that the service is not at the level of a SOFITEL or the price.
The rooms are relatively dilapidated. I was told that a renovation was planned. But beyond that, the service is not up to par. For example, in 3 nights on the spot, I never had my bed prepared when I was coming back from the office around 20:00. The person in charge went to 00:20 once.
The breakfast room has been changed, which makes it less user friendly. The fact of putting the buffet outside the restaurant room (in the poorly lit Annex room) makes it more difficult to access the guests but also the staff. The room staff can not take a look at the buffet permanently and thus the breaks (scrambled eggs, fresh mangoes, fruit juices…) are much more frequent. In addition, the time of the products offered contributes to the pleasure of the breakfast. Now the restaurant's dirty.
I'm a fan of the gym at the 23rd. Setting up a scale person is a good idea. Small improvement, the plastic glasses had not this time dust on the edge (this intolerable me and it is common with white plastic glasses). On the other hand, these lenses are not at all suitable for the water fountain because the pressure on the plastic button to make the water flow makes them bend. So you have to hold the glass with one hand and push the handle with the other. And there, the fountain is pushy. Filling a glass takes too long.
Another thing, the plumbing.

— The staff. Basically the guys at reception and hiring cars.
The only details you have to Polish: — the gym, dimension and insulate it from cooking smells.
— they could have a sauna.
— Finish the hotel's exterior renovation.
— Acclimatize the pool.

This hotel has recently suffered a change in flags, from Caesar Park to Sofitel. Eventhough most of the hotel already feels like a Sofitel, and an upscale one, there are still some areas in need of LOVE. We arrived at 1am and we couldn't tell whether this was the Sofitel Ipanema or not as this was a plain white building that looked under renovation and there weren't any signs. We even parked at the entrance and stayed in the car for a while reconfirming the address and the two gentlemen that were inside the doors didn't even come out. When you walk into the lobby the feeling is different… here it feels like a 5* hotel. A beautiful modern but cozy lobby with lots of lounge areas, beautiful flower arrangements and smell. We booked a Superior Room, it's their second category, and the room felt a bit tired in respect to the furniture. It was clean, spacious, the bed was very comfy, with complimentary water and with Lavin bath amenities but the table lamps were crooked the desk was scratched and the majority of the furniture showed wear and tear signs. Nothing major but details that can easily be fixed and would make a difference. I was told by the front desk that the ocean front rooms have been renovated so book these ones if this would be an issue for you. The restaurant is really nice and has an amazing beach front view of Ipanema Beach. The breakfast is good and there are many choices.

Staff was wonderful and attentive, but the hotel itself is dated, rooms lack insulation from each other, and spa facilities (sauna, steam room) are in need of a deep cleaning. Elevators are also extremely slow during "peak" hours with large numbers of people arriving/ leaving the hotel at the same time.

The hotel was comfortable the decor and in the main areas and rooms was dated with rather a lot of wear and tear. I don't understand the benefit of pre arrival check in when you have to complete further paperwork on arrival where via the website my expectation was to simply collect the key. Having traveled that day from Australia via Chile to Rio it would have been wonderful to seamlessly pick up the key and go straight to the room rather than have to wait and go through paperwork. Concierge gentlemen was very helpful with local restaurant recommendations. Roof top bar lacked style and atmosphere… gym had great views although limited equipment. Room clean and functional… I was told my room was an upgraded room which was lovely to get however the room size and features seemed basic to me.

Excellent service and always ready and supportive staff to all our requirements. Great location in Ipanema. I missed the larger breakfast buffet variety of the Sofitel Copacabana, but service was always great!

Very nice hotel with well trained staff who speak English. Add to that the location is amazing on the Copacabana beach. The view from my room was fantastic. We had a lot of fun.

It's comfortable, good location and nice people, It's in front of the best place in Rio!

The hotel is a bit outdated, but it is in a great location and the service is great. It is also one of the very few hotels with rooms with balconies facing the beach. Great views, great location, and great service. On my birthday, they surprised me with a bottle of Champaign and nice chocolate cake. You don't see this in many hotels. The hotel would benefit from renovation though. In my room the balcony door was very difficult to open and the decor is a bit old.

No visit to Rio is complete without enjoying the Seafood Brunch on Sundays. Great food, friendly staff and bottomless bubbly. What more could you want? Oh yes I forgot to add — book a table outside and enjoy the fabulous view of Copacabana Beach.

Not as expected This hotel has a unique location at the tip of Copacabana, but the building structure seems like the 70s. The rooms & restaurants are good. The staff are proud of the little French they speak, though I think this hotel is not exactly in Paris.

Pros: — Killer location on Copacabana beach, a few minutes walk from Ipanema beach — Excellent breakfast banquet Cons: — Smoky rooms (non-smoking rules not enforced, thick carpet that isn't properly cleaned) — Inattentive service staff — Very expensive for value provided.
