If you want a quiet hotel, Good clean room and polite staff this is one for you. Two minutes walk to the underground and five minutes to city centre.

The Hotel Spies is a wonderful gem. Nestled in a neighborhood, far from the crowds, but steps away from a subway station, making transportation to all the sights a snap. Local restaurants were within easy walking distance from the hotel and there were many fine choices some of which we thoroughly enjoyed. The accommodations were spotless, and spacious. Our daily breakfast included many selections and the staff was very gracious to us. We would highly recommend the Hotel Spies and when we return to Vienna we will return to the Hotel Spies as well.

A lovely family hotel on the edge of the city centre, in a quiet residential area. Rooms have high ceilings and feel spacious. Breakfast was included. The hostess/manager was very helpful in providing us with helpful information about transport, restaurants, local places of interest.

My husband daughter and I recently stayed at the hotel spiess and spiess and could not have been more pleased with our accommodations. The room was spacious and provided everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent and the staff very attentive. Finally the location was perfect. The street was quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, yet we were just a few hundred yards from a subway station that connected us easily to all of the sites we wanted to see. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends.

The best, close to a subway stop. Good breakfast. The common spaces very small, overwhelming. Being new or newly refurbished it lacks maintenance, in my room: a motorized curtains did not work, there were problems with the light, the drain was broken, could not cover the light and could not sleep, attached picture of before 7 in the morning.

Very nice rooms, large and nicely decorated. Delicious organic breakfast.

We were very happy with the room, it was over all expectations. The vegan options for breakfast were the best we ever seen, thank you so much!

Great room, location is good at and the breakfast was really tasty with great products! The receptionist is very helpful and nice, even got a flower and a card in my room as it was my birthday. A very good experience on all aspects.

I loved staying at the Hotel Speiss for 3 nights. From the moment I checked in I was presented with warm and helpful service. My room was quiet, beautiful, comfortable, and full of light. The breakfasts were fabulous and the breakfast room was lovely. The location of the Hotel is GREAT and there are good restaurants nearby. Andrea at the front desk was so kind as I waited a few days for my lost bag to arrive. She even called and was on hold for 15 minutes to help me find out its status. I will definitely stay at the Hotel Spiess the next time I'm in Vienna!

Everything perfect from the room to breakfast — only the access with stroller is a bit tedious and the parking quality — but this is certainly a general city problem.

Free breakfast! Where else is there such a thing? Organic products! Rooms for allergy sufferers. Daily room cleaning. Staff — friendly and helpful. Just a super hotel!

Stayed 3 nights in this comfortable hotel with a lavish breakfast which we really enjoyed. It was very close to the metro station. The only drawback was that we had to carry our luggage over quite a few steps at the entrance and then some more to get to our room. But overall it was a very nice stay.

We stayed 5 nights in August and really enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and well appointed, the view over the little garden made it quiet, and the breakfast had a decent variety. The staff in particular were very helpful and friendly both at reception and at breakfast time. While we would have liked to have stayed in the Centre, this hotel is only 3 station stops from the Centre, and that worked fine, because the station was 30 seconds walk from the hotel. We would have no hesitation staying here again.

We had a superior room on the back of the original building over the garden. It was large and wonderful, with a balcony looking down on the garden, which is really the shared backyards of several houses. Our daughters had a regular room on the front of the building, which was fine, but our room was certainly worth the price difference. The breakfast is simple and delicious with many organic and local foods served in a beautiful atmosphere.

Good location. Rochusgasse (U3) Ubahn-station really close. Spacious room. Good Wi-Fi. Noisy, but effective air-conditioner. Poor breakfast.

This hotel is in an excellent location — very quiet but only a block from the subway. There are several good restaurants within walking distance. Rooms are very nice and the breakfast was delicious. Staff was friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend Hotel Spiess.

Our trip to Vienna was greatly enhanced by our stay at Hotel Speiss, The spacious and well-appointed rooms, sumptious breakfast, and terrific hotel management made it a pleasure to wake up in the morning to plan our schedule and return to the hotel in the evening. The neighborhood is nicely situated just outside the tourist congestion in a comfortable Vienna neighborhood. It is telling that the same family continues to run the hotel, and create a warm, professional environment. The management even resolved a misunderstanding in booking, even though I used Expedia (most hotels only refer you back to Expedia). I would return to Speiss anytime.

What we liked most about the hotel was the personal touch of Herr Spiess at breakfast. We felt well cared for. Also, the hotel is only 100 meters from the U-bahn station, and a great greek restaurant, Iridion.

Beautiful hotel in beautiful Vienna. Room with garden views, with veranda and balcony (apparently Otrada smoking) a rest remarkably. Transport excellent, everything is close, looked anything like that. A bit of history weather, but that no one can provide. Decent breakfast-fruit, cheeses, cold cuts, bad choice of juices, champagne was not tried, but it was scrambled egg (scrambled egg) is a delight! Repeat impossible! Coffee is wonderful. Staff is not visible and is not audible, very friendly and polite, forgiving poor knowledge of English and German, and even found a Russian speaking people. Everything in the room according to the standard, seemed not very comfortable pillows, but it's an amateur. I didn't want to leave, will be in Vienna is recommend.

We had a very nice room with both bath and shower. The breakfast was good and there was many different choices of food available. The hotel was situated near the center of Vienna but at a peaceful street.

I have stayed here serveral times and each time is better and better. I always feel special and nothing is too much trouble. I stayed in one of the garden rooms and have to say it was a little piece of heaven. My late arrival was taken care of professionally and my forgotten travel adapter problem quickly resolved. I will definitely come again. Excellent service as always. Thank you for what you do so well.

We have only positive remarks regarding the staff, service, location, room, and amenities. Assuming the facilities are acceptable (and yours definitely were), for myself customer service is the most important quality I look for during a stay, a meal, a tour, etc… Many circumstances that affect one's experience can't be helped — a problem with the facility, exterior noise, even the weather (and we had lousy weather) … but attention to detail and customer care are always within the control of the provider. Thank you for taking care of us during our visit.

Location is good. Room is better. Breakfast is the best. We really want to be there.

A little oasis in a very central location. Spacious beautiful rooms, mostly with great garden views, nice breakfast room with fine breakfast buffet.

This hotel sets the standard for a bed and breakfast in a big city. The place appears just renovated and the staff at the front desk is really helpful. The breakfast included real fruit salad, nothing from a can here and the owners famous scrambled eggs are great. With air conditioning and blackout blinds you sleep great and the washroom is spacious with room for all your things. It does not get better than this and all for a reasonable price.

Great find in Vienna! Luxurious rooms with balconies, great neighbourhood, and the breakfast is generous in selection and quality.

Very nice privately-owned hotel with large rooms. Underground station is nearby which takes you in 7 minutes right to the Stephansplatz.
