This place is amazing, the check in was easy, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is super friendly, including their dog. The food is to die for, some of the best meals the whole trip. Highly recommend this place. It is not right downtown though, but super quiet and a quick bus ride to the “old town” area.

Clean and very comfortable hotel, has outdoor and indoor pool and gym. A few kilometers from the center, the car is left at the hotel parking lot and a few meters there is the bus stop that leads directly to the center with a few euros. Breakfast good and hearty and varied, sweet and salty.

Nice location and view, but no air-conditioning, not even a fan or something, and not a very Asian friendly atmosphere, staffs are not really helpful or half-heartedly responds to your questions, not sure if it's the culture or what but does come across as cold and unfriendly!

Beautiful property, located a few kilometers from Salzburg, but it is very close to the nature trails. Rooms are in the classic mountain cabin style, so wood wood everywhere. As many as 3 Italian channels on TV, the rooms are very clean. The sweet and salty breakfast very abundant and of excellent quality, lots of fruit buffet, only neo coffee unfortunately is not in the least close to our Italian. Beautiful pool in the garden, make this environment very comfortable and relaxing, the strongest and top point of this hotel is definitely the indoor pool for the colder days! You can dine and have lunch, except on Sunday evenings that the restaurant is also closed the bar inside the hotel, which is a bit strange. The lunch on a set menu 14 euros is plentiful and of excellent quality, in the evening we did not stop but the menu is "la carte so much more expensive. Other neo is the only German-language menu, luckily the receptionist speaks English and Italian so you can ask to translate to her. The staff were friendly and polite. Recommended.

Nice cabin-style property, quite large and with two pools, deck and outdoor. Nice rooms. Lunch and dinner in the restaurant. Need for private or public transport to get to the city. Parking when the hotel is full can be a bit problematic.

Lovely place, lovely food, and run by a lovely set of sibling who made us feel completely at home. When we left, it was like leaving friends. Austrians allow smoking which has to be allowed for. Also be aware their fabulous dinner is not available Sunday or Monday nights : — (

The food is very good. The staff, however, can suffer. And the guest sometimes waits half an hour for the numbers. Either there is a saving on the staff here or there is none.

I have officially forgotten how many times I've stayed at this hotel. First went there in 1967 and fell in love with it. The Schnoell family always goes that extra mile to help their guests and their food is second to none. About four kilometers from the centre of Salzburg the Doktorwirt is located in the best of both worlds — rural views and lovely fields to walk in but only twelve minutes from Salzburg on the bus. Will be there again in the summer and am counting the days till then.

We were greeted very friendly and very attentive and promptly served! The food was excellent and the dessert was so delicious that we even ordered something! We definitely come back!

Probably the cosiest hotel I've ever stayed at with breath taking views out every window but the beds were really uncomfortable and it was hot as hell at night… Great restaurant downstairs and also 2 beautiful pools, indoor and outdoor…

Food was very good but the kitchen noise including commands of the chef do not interest me as a guest.

A 10 minute bus ride from old town Salzburg. Very quaint and an excellent breakfast! The grounds looked pretty in the snow. There is an indoor and outdoor pool.

We stayed in a number of Gasthofs during our trip and this was the nicest. The service was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The pool and sauna were gorgeous and clean and well-serviced. It even had an elevator to take your luggage upstairs! Gorgeous views of the mountains from our room and very convenient to get to Salzburg.

This is the ideal place when you're in Salzburg you experience the beauty of living in the countryside, and yet you're near to the city centre just one ride away (bus7) approximately @15 mins & you're about 200 meters from the bus stop. All staff are very courteous, pleasant to talk too & willing to help any questions that you asked. One more thing on the day, I arrived so early I was so thankful they let me in early after the room was cleaned. I had sumptuous buffet breakfast and loads of selections as well and the view from the garden was fantastic. The indoor & outdoor pool as added bonus and gym as well. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience pure luxury and pampering…

Authentic family-owned Gasthof with deep local roots and tons of character. Wonderful people, beautiful property, delicious food made from scratch.

The rooms were comfortable and beautiful. The staff was very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food in the restaurant was top-notch. Very reasonable rates compared to the other places we've stayed throughout Europe for the quality of the accommodations.

Wonderfully quiet and very nice. Great food, very clean and friendly hosts. Tip: Bring a sharp knife to the apartment and use the pools extensively.

Here the guest is fulfilled every wish that can be implemented — for my mother-in-law the bed was set 12 cm higher externally, otherwise she could not get up properly.
And the food is a poem — both breakfast and restaurant.

Ugliest Hotel, very bad food really Sucks… Right of the disabled chief not taking care of the customer is not in the thing, anyway, he should rather change his Job would not affect it. The kitchen is very dirty and filthy, and for me personally the food by the staff with bloody hands would not be served so, I have no idea. The rooms are really dirty and stink. So my rating is below 0!

Quiet and very charming property! The hotel has a wonderful alpine country estate feel on the outskirts of Salzburg. After a day of busy sightseeing in the city, this a great, peaceful escape from the frenzy of the center. The indoor pool is gorgeous and the pub and dining areas are very nice. We loved the breakfast buffet. Led by members of the Schnoll family, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Multiple free Wi-Fi zones afford guests access around the property. Public bus transportation to the center is an easy five minute walk to the line at the Valkenauerstrasse stop.

Idyllic Hospitality  I was very fortunate they had a free apartment and I could stay as their guest at Doktorwirt. The location is no more than an easy 2-3 minute walk to bus number 7, going to the centre (easily change one time to bus 3, 5, or 6 straight to the charming centre of Salzburg).   However you don't have to travel to the centre of idyllic Salzburg to experience the best hospitality Austria has to offer.   Imagine how you would be treated as a VIP (very important person), yet part of the family. Imagine being greeted with the assurance that no matter what your requirements, the hosts at Hotel Gasthof Doktorwirt and their adjacent apartments are ready and very happy to help you, whilst at the same time easy going and leaving you free to choose your own interirary.   Also there is an opportunity to travel by bicycle on perfectly safe and beautiful cycling ways all the way across the German border into the mountains and back again easily in a day. If you are tired and want a break from cycling, simply take the train. Or enjoy a swim in the hotel's pool.   The sights in Salzburg must be seen in one's lifetime — and this is the perfect place to stay. The family is a joy and very extremely pleasant.   They really are simply marvellous and I look forward to returning many times.   Thanks a million Herr Schnöll, Karoline, her sister and brother and the rest of the kind family. Only stay here if you want to receive the best treatment in the Salzburg region.

+ Clean place, nice garden, rich breakfast, good bus connection to the city center. — Small rooms and staff that smiles at you but is too busy to create an atmosphere.

We loved our stay there and would never stay anywhere else. The staff, the food, the ambience, the people I can't say enough great things about.

If you want the actual Salzburg experience of living in a quaint little town, this is it. It's owned by a wonderful family, and has the best views of the snowcapped mountains. The river's a ten minute walk away; you can cycle there as well, by a bike provided to you by the Gasthof. It's a billion times better than staying at a Sheraton or a Holiday Inn (trust me, I've seen both). The rooms are good, the bathrooms are great, but I would recommend getting a room with a balcony. The food was amazing, and there's great little restaurants around it if you want to step out. The town center's a 10 minute car ride away. It's honestly like you've pictured what Austria is in your head.

Unfortunately, in the overall picture, absolutely disappointing. Closing reception: "WE ARE NOT a 4 STAR HOTEL BUT A 4 STAR hotel, SO do not CONFUSE, PLEASE do NOT! " Short informal listing: — check-in is designed as a game of chance. Posted 119, get 24, but on arrival at 16 o'clock — > key was not there yet… excuses at the expense of other guests. NOGO — Bathroom smells extremely after drain — > excuses, we would have used to Sign — Heating (ONLY fan heater) in the bathroom is not functional — > excuse it is still warm enough — Shower pressure is ridiculous, wash hair as a woman is impossible — all night next to the head is a ventilation in front of the door on full bull, intolerable — Quality of mattresses is not reasonable for a 4 star 120€ the night — the Breakfast selection is just time Pension standard. Even during Breakfast, not portable conditions. 40 minutes before 10 o'clock, no scrambled eggs, no ham, orange juice 30 minutes waiting time. These are the main courses of each Breakfast must ALWAYS exist. Orange juice is juice from the bottle, extremely watery (Just a little thing, but worth mentioning, because this Hotel is supposedly for the exzelente food excellent. Several times…) — A lot of packaged ingredients, not even Tischmülleimer available — no hygene trash can in the bathroom, trash in the main room without a plastic bag. Not ok.

We have just seen in the New Year @ this Hotel and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Hotel is comfortable and clean and the food is very good. I would happily stay here again.

It's the perfect relaxing holiday. Only 15 min. From the city centre and yet in nature. The service, cleanliness, and location is perfect to relax! The kitchen a reach. In quite Salzburg, all are very nice and everyone is in the hotel which is a family-run, and usual everyone around the well-being of score tries. I know I'm definitely coming back. A week holiday with all drum and tuned as man's could wish for! Thank you, family Schnöll.
