The hotel in itself was alright, but it had alot of flaws in the hotel rooms, since the needed to be renovated.

Hotel Scherer gave me what I needed to be able to explore such an amazing city, a bed, shower and safe place to store my bags. Yes it could use some redecorating but it was still very clean, quite and the staff were very nice. The breakfast was typical of small European hotels, I had planned on eating at one of the many delicious cafes in the city every morning anyway, so the breakfast was perfect for a cup of coffee and some fruit to start the morning. If you want luxury, look elsewhere. If you just want a comfortable place to sleep, staying here will be more than perfect. Its a 5 minute walk from the train station, 15 minutes to the center of town. Which was fine with me because the walk there along the river was a view full of castles, mountains and beautiful architecture.

Location is very good for exploring Salzburg. Our room was small but clean and tidy.

It is in an easily accessible place, beautiful hotel and luxury but the staff is very rude and the food is not good.

Class of Italian students. The security required is 30 euros each. At the end of the stay the owners claimed to have hosted one less person, as a result the bail that came back was less than what we gave. Poor food, little freedom for the price paid, employees extremely obnoxious. The 4 stars of the hotel are an illusion. If I could give 0 stars I would.

This place is very comfortable with great service. Hotel itself would best be described as quaint, in the best way possible.

Facilities average but Michelle gave us excellent service.

I did not like. No way I give him four stars, the room was grubby, had a box on the floor, dirty carpet, the bottom of the bed I found corks of bottles among other things, the sheet with holes and the curtains neglected, also the bathroom, it was nothing acogdor. In addition to went two times to the room when we were sleeping, a day at eight in the morning. I have all documented with photos that I wrote.

The hotel is close to the city center — about 15 minutes from Mirabell Gardens. The rooms are vintage but clean. Breakfast is good (coffee could be better though). Friendly staff.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean. The view is nice. But don't expect much with the decoration, it has the low cost hotel look. But I recommend, it's close to everything.

Location: Convenient since it's a 7 minute walk to Salzburg Railway Station (Hauptbahnhof). It's a 10 min bus ride to the center of the city where you can begin your sightseeing, though. Service: Service was good for the most part. Check-in was delayed a lot but it was because there was a large group of school girls (40+ of them) who had arrived a few minutes before us. Although the staff at the front desk was polite and helpful, it felt like they were about to be a bit impatient/impolite on a couple of occasions but they held themselves back. Overall, though, they were fairly decent and helpful. Room: The room was a bit small but still not cramped for space. The layout and furnishings were very nice and the room itself was clean and well-maintained. Food: Breakfast was very good with a lot of variety and vegetarian options. The lady who was in charge of service during breakfast was very nice and took care of us very well. Overall, this is a very decent hotel and worth the money we paid for it. Given a choice, I would probably not hesitate to stay here again.

The dark haired lady at reception was the most obliging person that we ever met in any hotel. The breakfast was excellent. The location was a bit far from the centre of Salzburg. Eileen — Ireland.

I thought it was quite dirty and needs reform, this very old and damaged, also isn't the best area. If you can evitalo.

We really enjoyed staying in Hotel Scherer in October 2015. Comfortable room with a large balcony, big TV screen with several programms in russian, very quiet at night and plenty of fresh air, thanks to open balcony! The stuff was very helpful and attentive. Location is perfect — near Bahnhof and pleasant walk to the historic city center. Vladimir, Irina.

Good location as it was within walking distance to town along the River. Rooms were clean and the breakfast room staff helpful with our next destination plans. The Wi-Fi service could have been easier to access. The front desk check in had some difficulties locating our reservation which we made well in advance from Canada but they did find it eventually. Parking is nearby and lovely gardens as well.

We visited the summer of 2015 with our family. We had a hard time finding a hotel because we booked at the last minute. Hotel Scherer was about the only place with good reviews that we could find. Our room was a no frills, clean room with VERY comfortable beds. It was an easy walk from the train station and to downtown Salzburg. The hotel manager was very nice and welcoming. We didn't eat there because we rarely eat at hotels when there are many great restaurants to eat at in Salzburg. We were there to see the beautiful city of Salzburg, and not a hotel. We are glad we found Hotel Scherer as it was perfect for our needs. Overall a very nice stay.

The hotel was comfortable and close to the train station. The staff at the desk were very helpful with bus schedules and stops. Directions to the sights which were just a pleasant walk along the river away and suggestions for concerts made for a lovely visit.

Good hotel, clean, room spacious and close to the train station. It is advisable to take breakfast outside the hotel. Staff friendly and close, with capacity to hire tours very late at night and that everything works well the next day.

10 € for Wi-Fi per day a joke! Otherwise, nice staff and good location.

Small hotels like this in extremely popular tourist destinations can literally do anything to their guests and still stay at maximum occupancy. If this is all you can afford, don't come to Salzburg.

For me, very good location, close to train station, close to the city, nice, clean rooms, friendly service, good breakfast buffet.

Great location near train station, walkable downtown. Room very clean, cozy and sufficiently wide and silent. The reception was very helpful in giving us directions in the vicinity of the city and transport. We spoke in Spanish which was very comfortable.

Very good quality/price ratio. Staff very friendly and smiling. Clean and bright room. Good location for accessibility and to get downtown. Rich and tasty breakfast. A large car park.
Negative point: Wifi paying. Not so much for the price but because I consider these days… Wi-Fi must be a service offered in a hotel.

From the train station very close, walk 5 minutes. Hotel very clean, facilities are complete, the TV screen is great. But no Wi-Fi, Breakfast is relatively expensive.

Great location near the train station, and a reasonable walk to the Old Town area and Mirabelle Gardens. Nice touch with yummy chocolates on the pillows. Our room was satisfactory, except for the all but non-functioning refrigerator in the room. We ended up leaving our bottled beverages on the window sill to cool instead. If you buy internet time and pay cash, be sure to get a receipt — we were almost charged again at check-out. Didn't bother to have breakfast as part of our reservation, and that was fine because we were on the go anyway. It did look nice, but I'm not sure it was worth the 16 Euro. A reasonable value overall because we don't mind walking to get to the center of town (and in fact preferred the proximity to the train station because we were rolling our luggage there), but others may prefer something a little more central if they don't want to walk as much.

The location was close enough to walk to downtown; most of the staff was courteous and the breakfast was excellent. However, our second night (Sunday, 10 Nov) there, we did not get any sleep because of some other guests that were drinking at the Bar on the first floor where we had our room. They were loud and obnoxious and no regard for those staying in the rooms on the same floor. They carried on till 4 AM and obviously, the staff did nothing to quiet them and like most hotels that we have stayed in there was no quiet time established such as 10 or 11 PM. Needless to say, I was very angered with the lack of respect by the classless people that were in the Bar and nothing was done to ensure the Bar closed at a reasonable time and the people were told to be quiet.

Hotel is very well located. Breakfast adequate, too many steps entrance and in the House /.

I think this is one of the best values in Salzburg! They can accommodate triples which was a huge plus. Our room was great. It was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We could — — and did — — walk everywhere. The service is not that "in your face friendliness" we get so used to in the US; it was just calm, courteous, efficient, and helpful.
