We stayed at the Lake House recently. It was clear staff take pride in what they do, and attention to detail is on point. How they engaged at the restaurant table — made the stay more memorable.

Wow we had a party of 7 and between all of us we tried everything on the menu and it was sensational there was not a single complaint about the food. The service matched the quality of the food. Rosa served us and she was perfect. She was friendly and knowledgeable her wine recommendations were on point. We had such an amazing special experience.

We have had an amazing stay at The Lake House. Staff are friendly and helpful, atmosphere is relaxing and best of all, the food is incredible!

Special occasions call for special places and Lake House delivered and more. The service. The ambiance. The staff and The Food were all A Plus and more. My favourite dish was the lamb main. Cooked to perfection and so tender plus the Apricot dessert. Feel so lucky that we have such great dining experiences on our doorstep and so lovely to see the place buzzing with activity.

It’s been maybe 10 years between visits but despite the change in format the food was amazing! 4 fabulous courses, great service, paired wines and a great outlook too!

It was a beautiful haven to escape the cold, rainy weather. The staff were fantastic and welcoming and the food was delicious!

There is NOTHING to dislike about The Lake House. We visited a few years ago for my birthday and LOVED it so much, we have made it an annual place to visit. We are looking forward to returning in 2022

From confirmation of our booking to the minute we arrived our experience was nothing short of fantastic — something I'd love everyone to experience at least once in their lives. That feeling of being special, eating in a fine dining establishment yet being welcomed like a regular. The food was amazing, and memorable — something I'll go back to enjoy again and the service and setting unique to Daylesford.

What an absolute stunning venue, very scenic looking over the lake, have been there before (many years ago) but was very delighted to see it all again, didn’t have time for a meal, next time.

The restaurant was absolutely exquisite degustation menu. Attentive waiters lovely ambience warm lake views and not crowded.

We had an amazing 3-night stay for our wedding anniversary. From the moment you arrive to the time you leave the staff are welcoming, professional yet friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble, we were made to feel very special. The location is beautiful and tranquil. The degustation dinner was divine and the a la carte and room service meals were fantastic. We also had a wonderful 3 hour relaxing pamper session at The Spa at Lake House. Our Lake Front Suite was spacious, quiet with thoughtful amenities like a heated bathroom floor as Daylesford gets a bit chilly and an umbrella. We look forward to going back again.

Lunch in the restaurant was simply outstanding and faultless. The service is absolutely 5 stars; friendly, attentive and humorous. The food was exceptionally fresh, delicious and tasty. One of the best meals we’ve ever had. We will be back!

Really good service and the accommodation is really spacious and clean. Would highly recommend. Dinner is really special, would recommend dressing up more formally for it. There is a large selection of drinks and a three/four course meal. There is also a tennis court in the compound as well, and a jacuzzi and sauna for guests.

Beautiful location, a wall around the lake even in cold weather is still great. My partner got a massage and said it was pretty good apart from starting 5 minutes late and finishing 5 minutes early. Didnt eat there this time.

We enjoyed a spectacular degustation menu overlooking the Daylesford Lake, the staff were attentive and friendly, some simple menu changes were made with no fuss, a great afternoon spent.

One of my favourite places in country Victoria. Stayed in the waterfront suite and the room was fantastic. The food in the restaurant is magnificent and the breakfast is awesome. Have been here twice and will be back again, love it here!

My husband and I loved this place from the moment we arrived. Our whole stay was truly amazing and relaxing. Right from the start to end. We were totally blown away with everything — from our room, to the service and the food. It was a magical time for us and extra special as we decided to elope here. For a Michelin star restaurant it was okay. The decor on the inside was plain Jane compared to other fine dining, no real wow appeal. The views were good, after halfway through my meal I manage to see a small section of the lake. The wait staff there were impeccable never let my glass go empty or even half full. The food was delicious however very salty, it was good that the staff were on top of the water as I drank a lot! And they treated my boyfriend on his 21st to a nice special lemon dessert. For fine dining it’s definitely one of the best in the area, but wouldn’t say it’s the best in Melbourne.

Worrh the drive, worth the expense. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Each dish we had was a delightful. Culinary experience. The ambiance of the restaurant is casually elegant and stylish. Highly recommended.

We had a 30 minute mineral spa. Then my husband and I had a 1 hour massage and our therapist were Julia & Natalie. Honesty they were 2 of the nicest therapist we have ever had. Great service. Thanks girls for looking after us.

Must go before you die. Should get a Michelin star or 2. I could speak in half of the restaurant as I haven’t stayed there. However… Food fantastic, staff were really on top of there game here. We had a 10 month baby with us and they were super nice and friendly to us. Even a bar tender went out of his way to offer our baby a strawberry just out of kindness. Book early is my only advice. Tried to book 2 weeks in advance but could only get lunch. Lunch still good you can see the lake and views too.

Tonight we had dinner at The Lake House Restaurant. The kitchen is run by Alla Wolf-Tasker which is one of the chefs on my “bucket list”. Well she did not disappoint us. What a great experience. The serenity of the rooms and gardens around the lake continues in the restaurant. A very relaxed ambience with a beautiful view at the lake. We ordered the tasting menu with paring wines and every single dish was a pleasant surprise. Challenging combinations resulted in a great experience. The Smoked Skipton Eel with Pancetta, local beets and mustard creme fresh was already a great dish, but the paring wine; a Mourverde Rosé from Betrand Bespoke made it the dish of the day. Whenever you are in Melbourne you should consider to drive 1 hour to Daylesford and enjoy the rooms and restaurant of The Lake House. One point of criticism; we’ve ordered a nice aperitif but before we could finish it; the first course including the paring wine was served.
In my opinion the first course should not be served while guests enjoy their aperitif.

Enjoyed Christmas dinner with the family here. 5 star experience. The wait staff are nothing short of world class. My family had various challenging dietary requirements, the restaurant handled it without breaking a sweat. The establishment belongs in the French countryside. We hope to return soon and enjoy a stay in one of their wonderful guest rooms.

Beautiful meal. Excellent service from personnel who provided information about the menu. And. Intelligent conversation not only about the area but about Australia. So important for a business catering to international guests. The food was delicious. For example lamb that melted in your mouth. Genuine sourdough bread, baked in-house, that was warm, fresh, tasty & crusty not fluffy & tasteless. 'sashimi' that provided a delightful variety of delicate flavours & condiments. Cream that was light. Flavours that 'worked together'. Making dining a delightful experience. And NO. I didn't leave feeling hungry. On the contrary I had an elegant sufficiency.

An expensive restaurant for you to splurge on your loved one. The food and service was great. Can't fault them on this. I don't drink, however I am sure their wine menu is pretty impressive. Been here three times and they have not yet disappointed me.

We visited the lake house for a fabulous nye event in 2017/18 it was nothing short of fantastically awesome. Great food. Great drinks. Incredible, out of this world hosts and service — so welcoming, warm and friendly. Beautiful location. The atmosphere created was really a memorable way to bring in the new year, prime position for fireworks.

We visited over the weekend for my girlfriend's birthday. The whole experience was faultless. The food, the service, the view, the wine and the coffee. All brilliant. I couldn't recommend visiting the place highly enough. Particularly loved the smoked eel dish with beetroot — reminded me of flavours from my childhood in a Russian family. Thanks Lake House!

Absolutely stunning location by the lake. If you're a nature lover this resort is for you. Ducks and geese running around outside your room, fishing available. Tennis court. Spa and mineral baths. Rooms very luxurious leading out onto the lake. 2 hat restaurant is delicious.

We are visiting from the UK. Everything was lovely — staff, venue, etc. However we were very disappointed with the portions served to our vegetarian guests. The meat eaters — in this instance sharing the lamb — could hardly get through our meal. The two vegetarians ended up eating our polenta and excess veg. We couldn't say anything because it was a birthday celebration and we couldn't spoil the occasion. However, I suggest that the vegetarian option is a big con and excessively overpriced. We paid over £300 for lunch for 4 people and our guests left hungry. Don't visit if you are vegetarian. Sheila K.

The lake house is one of the best places I've been. There is an outstanding level of service, the view is magnificent, definitely will recommend a work meeting or just a social event.

5 for location, great views. 4 for service. 3 for food, for the price you pay, lacking wow factor. Overall, bucket list restaurant but don't think I will be coming back. Please note this is only one offering, as they have accommodation and spa + massage therapy.

I proposed to my girlfriend during our trip and the staff at Lake House were hugely important in the planning and execution of the special day. The in-house events team were perfect in accommodating my very specific arrangements. So too the restaurant who accommodated my partners very specific dietary requirements by providing a FODMAP-friendly version of the 9 course degustation. All the staff really did go above and beyond. It was a weekend we will remember for the rest of our lives, not least because the staff at Lake House made it absolutely perfect for us.

Had the nine course degustation for dinner ($155pp). Good example of fine dining meal generally. However some courses were a little underwhelming. A bit disappointed that the restaurant had a further surcharge for all credit cards, which is unheard for most restaurants nowadays.

Lake House in Daylesford is one of the best venues we’re had the pleasure of working with in the Greater Melbourne region for Weddings. Each time we’ve performed at Lake House, you can see the care and attention to detail focused onto the client and their guests. The venue decore is beautiful, the staff are so professional and friendly, and the food is to die for! When we have a gig booked at our entertainment team know that it’s going to be a 10/10! Lake House has some of the best food I've ever had. I had sher wagyu, winter harvest, rare breed pork and French toast. The ambiance and service was top notch too. Really enjoyed it. If you have the time, I definitely recommend.

What a beautiful setting for lunch. The food is sublime and all staff were very helpful. Make sure you visit for lunch or dinner you will be not be disappointed.

The restaurant location and the service was amazing. The kookaburras were a fun attractions. I went there for a anniversary and I'm sure they gave us the best spot in the house (which I am very thankful for). The food was well presented but that was about all. I found the flavours were so subtle that there was no point to them being on the plate. The local cheese platter well, I didn't even want to eat it. It just wasn't nice and only ate it because I paid so much for the food. I could go on but not really worth me pointing everything out.

We return to Lake House every year to celebrate our anniversary. It's an indulgence and we wouldn't do it if it we didn't consistently get magnificent food and a generally delightful experience. This time the woman serving our table for dinner was charming and humorous. The food was as good as ever and, as always, made from local produce. Breakfast was perhaps not quite as excellent as always and the waiter on this occasion was a touch brusque and grumpy. Overall, though, it was enjoyable and we would recommend it without hesitation.

Food was very impressive and the seating uber comfy though a big let down was to wait 20mins between our courses and we had 11. Had a back pain sitting that long. Not expected at a restaurant of this level.

We had a birthday celebration dinner in the wine cellar room which was setup for 16 of us. Food and service were superb. The dinner was a 5 course menu with matching wines. Standouts were the Kingfish entree and duck. It was a memorable night for all and the cellar room was a wonderful isolated experience from the restaurant upstairs so conversation and speeches could be conducted without interrupting other diners.

Just had a dinner at the Lake house. And it was really good, interesting. Staff is cool, they are not all over you every 5 min (which I liked). My duck balottine very good, lots of flavours, colours. My wife had a goats chesse and ricotta tortalline. NOW, there is the problem. It was three, and I said 3, regular sized tortalline. That one was funny. But then the desserts. BOOM! Poached peaches very nice, if it had a bit of stronger rasberry zest — perfect. But it was my wifes d. So I don't care. Me, I got me self "The Apple". One of the best desserts in last five years. Thank you. Fancy restorant, fancy sizes, but DESSERT!

Booked a weekend at Lakehouse for our 30th anniversary, including dinner and breakfasts. Food was great. Accommodation was the worst experiance we have ever encountered, anywhere in the world. And I don't say that lightly. We had a drunk "bride" and her maids, banging on our door, telling us that they have spent $60 000 and they can do whatever they want. When contacted, the management didn't even bother to follow up, compleately ruined what should been a special few days. Given a cheesy jam on checkout as an apology. Do not recommend.

No words could do this gem of a hotel and restaurant justice… food is superb, wine selection second to none, the atmosphere refreshingly relaxing, views breathtaking and service is polished… overall the Lake House is simply superb! Sets a very high standard. See you again soon… dinner for two this Saturday evening in fact… driving in from Melbourne for a Valentines weekend at your hotel… wifey and I can't wait!

A memorable night. Had our Anniversary dinner at the picturesque Lake House after hearing many good things. Had the very well paced eight course tasting menu, it was superb. The cocktails were top shelf and we're mixed only quality ingredients. Customer service was second to none with attentive wait staff refilling drinks or querying and suggesting other drinks to try with out us having to ask.

My girlfriend and I and were staying in Daylesford for a few nights and decided to pop in to the Lake House to check out dinner options. We were promptly greeted by a very surly and condescending waiter, who made it very clear we were not welcome there. Really sad as it had been so recommended by our friends from Daylesford, and it was for a special occasion.

Went for our honeymoon and were "upgraded" to a room that was very dated, not very nice and spiderwebs all over the deck. We nearly spent 3k over 3 days & the restaurant (was quite nice) but closed for 1 of the nights without anything else on offer. We've stayed in Daylesford many times for well less than half the price & a much better experience. After making our point on checking out we were ignored and given the complimentary jam and a fake smile. Money can be better spent elsewhere & you can visit the restaurant.

Great venue for weddings, right on the lake, and on the edge of town where it's a bit quieter. The food here consistently wins awards, both for best regional dining and in all of Victoria.

My wife took me here for my birthday and we did the 8 course vegetarian tasting platter and I had matching wines. I cannot speak highly enough of how perfect this evening was. So many things, from the willingness of the waiters to explain the dishes to our busy maitre d' Robin's willingness to explain some of the details of the wine to help me better appreciate its relationship with the flavours in each dish in a manner that was professional but not at all intimidating. I had to deal with my own preconceived notions and baggage as part of the dining experience. That is the art of this place, amazing food and astonishing wine selection, stylish decor and professional service, and yet somehow approachable — the guest is also responsible for creating the evening as much as the restaurant. The breadth and educational value of the wines selected to accompany each dish really showed my palate some serious diversity and we at not point felt like we were being rushed out of there. At the end we actually left some food behind and were relieved when Robin said it was the last one — small dishes (quality over quantity) still add up — especially with such intelligent and creative flavouring. It would be expensive to eat like this all the time — and how would you appreciate it then — but on a special occasion where you have savoured every bite and mouthful it feels like great value.

Not cheap, but definitely worth it. We went for the 8 course degustation menu. The food looked and tasted amazing! Stunning view, sevice was very good too. Only average bit was the coffee, it was ok, but not of same high quality as the rest. (Yes I am a coffee snob from Melbourne. ).

Visited the aesthetically charming lake house café yesterday. Found it overpriced, bad table service, unwiped tables with food strewn floor, table water bottles sit directly in the sun outside, inside non to be had at all. Requested drinks with food, didn't happen, requested water, didn't happen. When water request followed up Bree, the barista behaved rudely, and made unnecessary comments. Menu misleading. Won't return or recommend.

My name is Andrew. My wife and I regularly dinned there before the fire. We found the food to be of a high standard. The service was without any issue. The girls were polite. We had breakfast and lunch there. We went there for five years. Looking forward to dinning there since the rebuild.

I went to the lake house for lunch. I have to say it was just how I imagined it to be, picture perfect! The food was fantastic, something you would expect from master chef, it was food/art. The flavour combinations were spot on. The wine list is impressive. The waiters all have French/English accents, pretty cool. Worth having a stroll around the lake also. Must check this out. For the two of us 3 courses cost $250.

Friends took us here for lunch. We had an wonderful time the staff were very attentive to our every need and the food was amazing.

An experience like I have never experienced before. From the moment we entered until the time we left was just out of this world. The surroundings, the service, the food, and the attention to detail were all beyond my expectations, elegant yet relaxed. The food was just delicious, so light, the flavours all blended well together, the unexpected little surprises, the presentation of the dishes especially the apple crumble, served in a glass, the personalised happy birthday wishes piped on the dessert plate of my friend. Thank you to all at the lake house for a wonderful night. Would highly recommend it to everyone as a special occasion, never to be missed. I will definitely return there again.
