This was my second visit to Cairns in 2 months. We travelled on a Family Trip this time and had an apartment booked however cancelled at last minute due to the distance from the esplanade — then booking 2 rooms at the Pacific Hotel — probably the worst mistake ever. We checked in very late due to flight delays due to extreme weather in NSW. The guy that checked us in barely looked at us — did not welcome us or even ask how we were. No instructions of the hotel just advised our room number. We were a family of 5 travelling and were given 2 rooms with a king bed and 2 x single beds. After a long day I refused to sleep with my partner and 11 year old in the same bed considering I had paid for 5 people — I requested a trundle bed which was provided. As for the room the downfalls are: door that squeaked terribly loudly which took 4 days to fix, the shower is great for short/very short people under 160 cms, the walls are not sound proof and you can hear every noise possible. The sounds from the street are like you have the windows opened. We were located in the rooms adjacent from the laundry — I guess it was, and cleaners woke us every morning by 7am. Cleaners even let themselves into my kids room when they didn’t answer the door because they were asleep at 8am. Beds were hard and limited bedding (we froze) For $2500 for the week I would have expected a little more.

Last night I arrived to Pacific Hotel fairly late. I was told there was no booking under my name though I had the confirmation email, correct date, and had booked directly through the hotels website. Both staff at the counter saw the email and admitted the same. Despite that I was rudely told there was nothing they could do that the hotel had been booked out for the whole weekend — like somehow it was my fault the website allowed them to overbook. As I sat crying in the hotel lobby trying to find somewhere to sleep during one of the busiest school holidays I’ve witnessed in Cairns, neither staff member apologised. The female staff member did “help” by quickly looking online to inform me that she found a grand total of 2 hotels available that I could book myself that would cost me double the price of the one I had booked with them. I was forced to pay $500 for a single night elsewhere. Please consider training your staff more seriously in customer support — or just being decent compassionate people towards a woman alone late at night maybe. I didn’t yell or make a scene and the whole thing would have been less stressful if someone had just been kind. 0 stars.

Pacific hotel cairns made me feel welcome the staff was friendly and helpful and the manager could not do enough to help me out and porter was help full carry my bags to my room and the rooms clean fresh clean sheets and towels and had a kettle and much room the restaurant was best I ever tried they treat and the breakfast lunch dinner and straight from the kitchen hot and delicious and the table service was excellent me like a vip customer no fault of this place I be back.

11 days in to HQ here with my husband and teen daughter. The Queensland Police health & staff are so very helpful and friendly. We are grateful for a balcony. We are well fed. Some food is repetitive like lunch but it is always fresh and tasty. You can modify meals with reception easily enough. Loving Movember offer to purchase the best tasting bacon & egg roll with a real coffee for a change up breakfast!. It's easy enough to get food ordered from outside. Friday nights here have live music to watch from the balcony and we also got delight pizza. Fresh linen, towels etc are always available as is a vacuum cleaner and cleaning products. We look forward to leaving in a few days, but a grateful for a pretty good HQ experience. Now to go earn an income since it's been almost 3mths with none! 😁

Huge ……. THANK-YOU! I will be released from HQ tomorrow and the meals and service have been “souper souperb”……. LOVED my nightly soup! The other “courses” were just as nutritious and tasty, (especially the salmon)! If this is what you serve under government restricted conditions………. I will be back🤗

Quarantine could be a lot worse. Great views, friendly staff, clean rooms and lovely healthy food. Thanks to all the wonderful team at Pacific Hotel as well as the police, army and The Queensland Health team, Hats off to you all.

Pacific Hotel Cairns is great, I like the atmosphere I’m enjoying everything from smiling employees to friendly Quarantine staff. I recommend anyone coming to Cairns should check in here at the Pacific Hotel it’s closer to the Casino, the sea view and Wool Worth’s shopping center.

5 star quality and very friendly staff.

Here because of quarantine; would not be my choice otherwise. Few things missing. No tea spoon. No cover for ironing board and TV did not work. Wifi is very slow and need to connect every 4 hours.

The Wi-Fi is virtually non-existent and cannot be relied upon; come prepared to hot spot your phone for internet access. The TV system didn’t allow me to view any movies only local TV and the remote was dodgy. When I arrived there were cigarette ashes and tobacco in the toilet and on the balcony. The air conditioning temperature can not be controlled in the room as it is centrally located; only the option to have high, medium or low (which really made little difference) the fridge is tiny if you are wanting to store milk or beverages during your stay and the house coffee was a cheap and nasty concoction that I would recommend you avoid.
The staff were helpful and pleasant and the place was clean and decorated with a calming sea colour palette that was attractive. It was quiet, except for a couple of drunken guests one night but overall, good.

Great staff, nice room, well appointed, awesome location — will be back.

Stayed here for 4 nights in one of the new tropical luxe rooms. It was gorgeous, so spacious, clean and well equipped with all we needed! We used the pool on a couple of afternoons which was lovely and the location of the hotel was great! The buffet breakfast in the restaurant was really good too. Definitely recommend. We had a great time!

The hotel is very noisy, the rooms on the street obviously suffer street noises all night (various squeals and passing trucks cleaning streets etc) while the interior rooms suffer the noise of the air conditioning engines. In short, without peace even if the rooms are not bad.

Clean, comfortable, room. Excellent breakfast. Near the Cruise Reef Terminal, great restaurants, ocean deck and much more.

I have been here a number of times: a couple of times for work and also for a holiday — and I just love it. It is comfortable, close to all amenities and the staff are fun (there is also access to an awesome gym to work off dinner from the night before). Cairns is an awesome place to spend a few days, head off to Great Barrier Reef as well as access the Daintree… Love this place!

We were glad that we chose Pacific Hotel for its location: short walks to marina, bus stops and night live (though also conveniently far enough, avoiding noise pollution). Great views from our corner balcony room (premium price) ; but you can't take down the Hilton Hotel in the way! Of all the hotels we stayed during our holiday, this had the nicest bathroom toiletries. Kind of tropical infused, appropriate for the surroundings. Bed and service very satisfactory. Enjoyed the rooftop pool, and watching the bats come out near sunset. Slightly down-marked because of the lack of disabled access at the front door. Sure, there's a slope off to the left side, but that's not equality treatment. For a hotel of this good quality, it should rebuild to have slopes on both sides of front steps. There appears to be plenty of space for this.

Excellent price with excellent location near boats and boardwalk. Great pool on 3rd floor. Rooms were fine and fairly clean. Nice balcony with good view. If expectations are managed well, you will find this to be an acceptable hotel. Under renovation but minimal noise. Fantastic staff. Breakfast buffet is overpriced.

Clean, comfortable rooms. A little noisy in the mornings with truck traffic outside. Very convenient location with lots of great restaurants all around. Staff is helpful and friendly.

Recently stayed at the Pacific hotel for 4 nights, had a room on the 11th floor, great view of casino, parkland & harbor. Staff are very friendly & helpful. Bed very comfy & room was spotless. Perfect location close to everything. Will defiantly be back to stay.

Very nice hotel in the center of Cairns. Everything is reachable on foot. The city center, the ferry to go to the island of Fitzroy.

The rooms are not the fanciest, but they are good. The staff is friendly and very nice. They are working on some renovations, so there's some noise during the day but you're in Cairns, you shouldn't be in the hotel during the day! Anyway, they comp a drink for the inconvenience regardless. Very good location too!

Very beautiful in the heart of Cairns located in the centre of Cairns, close to shops and restaurants, the Pacific Cairns Hotel is a well-equipped hotel offering spacious rooms.
Wi-Fi is free and fast, the highest rooms offer a wonderful view of Cairns.
The hotel has a restaurant, the Bushfire, which is well known for its grilling at will.
Because of its positioning and the quality of its equipments, it is a wise choice for a stay in Cairns!

Very dated, needs refurbishment especially in bedrooms. Outdoor pool nice but not the best views. A bit disappointing compared to the pictures online, would not stay again for the price.

I had the best time of my life considering I needed a relaxing time away from Melbourne and it was fantastic and my first time up there I just loved cairns I could move there.

Stayed at the Pacific Hotel for the past 6 days. Great room on the 11th floor overlooking Cairns and the park. Close to all amenities including the wharves. Staff are very friendly, food is very nice, and reasonably priced.
The bathroom was a bit of a let down, very compact, shower very difficult to handle, bath quite small.
King sized bed very comfortable.
Would stay here again if returning to Cairns.

Walk to restaurants and shopping. The hotel serves a good breakfast, the rooms are good and the staff helpful. (On rainy days they supplied dozens of umbrellas for guests to use off premises). I had a room with a good view of the mountains and of the Flying Foxes (aka bats) heading out at dusk.

This hotel is amazing! Our view from our private balcony is breathtaking. It's a perfect location. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again. I wish all hotels could be like this one.

Comfortable rooms in a good location. They should start offering breakfast at 6:00 instead of 6:30 because some tours leave early. The coffee is decidedly mediocre. For the cost of breakfast they could do better.

All very good but the change of temperature between heat hell and the cold winter of the room was very strong XD.

Pros: great location, free internet, nice staff, great views, they give you a $10 meal voucher for each day you don’t get your room cleaned (to encourage helping the environment), nice pool area, nice breakfast buffet. Cons: the internet is slow, on 3 days we chose not get our room cleaned the cleaners forgot to leave us our $10 voucher I’d stay here again.

Rooms is reasonably size and clean. No toiletries provided. Have cookies for tea but only get refilled if the house keeper remember. Very good hot water system for bath. Internet is horribly slow. In this day and age, fast internet is essential for social, entertainment and work.

Very central and great breakfast. Plus if you don't have your room cleaned they give you 10 Australian dollars each day to spend on food or drink. Great idea.

Great location and friendly staff, but older facilities and weak Wi-Fi The hotel is close to the main action points in Cairns: 5min walk from the pier with top restaurants, 5min walk to the marina, and on the Esplanade street, which is the main street in town. The hotel also has a pool to chill during a hot day. Minuses: certain parts of the room are older and have more wear and tear, e. G. Bathroom — but they are not bad and very clean. Wi-Fi in the room on some floors is bad. I was on the 8th floor. However, my friend was on the 7th floor and his Wi-Fi was good.

Amazing buffet and the view from the function room was amazing. The only downside was the aboriginal and Australian flag were incredibly tatty with material pulled away. The renovations have really been great, but just the flags let the hotel down for me. The flags were directly outside the function room so edge glaringly obvious.

Good hotel. However, at night all street noises will keep you awake.

A very cute hotel right next to the Marina, which cruises to the reef. And there's a bunch of tour bureaus ready to send you anywhere in Cairns and beyond.

I cannot praise this hotel enough. I always stay here on business and this time Corporate Traveller booked me into another one on the Esplanade. Big mistake!
I wont go into the in and outs but decided to see if the Pacific could put me and my colleague up for the rest of the time. The staff were wonderful and found two rooms on the 11th floor with the best sea views and the best place for watching the fireworks last night. Breakfast was included plus free Wi-Fi which we would have had to pay for at the other hotel and it was cheaper per room. The service was so friendly and as always it was very clean and comfortable.
The other thing I love about this hotel is the position. Only a hop skip and a jump to the Esplanade … it is on the corner but so much quieter than the other hotel and in a really lovely spot opposite the park and a 2 min walk to the lagoon and Marina.
I will be advising CT to ensure that they don't use the other hotel anymore and continue to use the Pacific. I will be back and thank you for making a disaster of a weekend a really good one!

Best location in Cairns! This place is old but clean. The rooms were spacious. I would definitely recommend travelers to stay here and get most of Cairns.

Checked in by a guy who watched me struggle to get my bag up the steps (why no ramp? ), bad-mouthed his colleagues, and then made racist comments about all his Asian/Indian guests. A fine welcome… Soured the whole experience. No room service, probably good, because I threw up after having the breakfast buffet. Bed was barely acceptable. Everything seemed to go wrong. The rest of the staff were great, and are the only reason this isn't a one star review. Is management asleep at the wheel? Or was my experience was an unusual aberration? All I know is, after comments like that, they won't get another cent out of me…

Paid 398 dollars for 2 nights in a standard room at the Pacific Hotel Cairns. Extremely noisy room — lack of sound proof to the wall and glass window and constant random ticking sound in the cabinet. The room was also too bright with no option to turn the lights completely off. Resultant no sleep. Pretty disappointing stay and exhausted for my conference activity.

The Pacific Hotel Cairns is a good place to sleep and use as a base camp during your visit. It's got a fantastic location right along the Espalnade in central Cairns. Rooms are decent and clean, but the bathroom is terrible. It's got a steep incline into the bathroom, which you're basically guaranteed to stub your foot on, a viciously bight white florescent light, an open shower that will spill steam and water both into the room with no way to prevent it, and the only towel racks are behind the door in the shower. The spare toilet paper is even kept in the closet in the hall instead of in the bathroom. Breakfast is decent, with some hot selections available. Fruit has a frozen quality to it — I assume they prep it the night before. Overall, it's a decent place, but the bathrooms severely need an update.

Excellent location. Stayed for two nights for a trip to the great barrier reef, and very easy / quick walk to the reef fleet terminal. Easy access to shops / dining on the esplanade, as well as excellent Australian BBQ at the bushfire restaurant. Room was clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend for anyone in Cairns to see the reef!

Very good hotel but during my visit a generator turned night and day so a star in less.

I don't normally write reviews but it's our last night here and I've been reading other reviews and have to disagree with a few of them. This hotel is absolutely fantastic. It's in the best position possible with great views. Our room is massive. 51sq's. Yes it could do with an update but that's reflected in the price. It's not an expensive hotel by any means. The view, room size, cleanliness, heavenly comfortable bed and really friendly staff far outway any small negatives about the age and style of the rooms. I'd definitely recommend staying here as we will be on our next cairns holiday. Well done pacific hotel for making our stay great.

We stay here whenever we have work in Cairns. The rooms are comfortable enough but could do with a renovation. Great if you get a room with a view. Best thing about this place is how it is so close to heaps of top notch restaurants & bars in Cairns.

Stayed here last month and loved it! The room was huge and the bed was so big I lost my husband in the night! The kids had an adjoining room which they loved and the breakfast the next morning was so big we skipped lunch.

We booked this hotel as a package online. The best I can say about the place is that the room was a clean place to sleep. We had a north facing room that overlooked the pool, the hotel's air con system and the exhaust from the ground floor restaurant. The constant rattle from the a/c and the occasional whining bearing noise as some mysterious machinery kicked in during the night made it a little hard to get any decent rest, we also had a pretty fair idea of what was on the grill at any given time, judging by the smell of greasy food being wafted out of the restaurant exhaust fan. Speaking of the a/c, the outlet in our room was, at times, asthmatic, while it wheezed away it barely cooled the room when the humidity rose outside. If it battled the heat during mid-winter in the tropics, it'd be interesting to see whether you were broiled or steamed alive in your room in summer. Make sure you get down to breakfast early, if you don't you'll be left with the cold left overs and if you arrive after 0930, you'll be looking for somewhere else to eat.

Stayed here for two nights in room 507. Very comfy bed, pillows that soft I want to steal and take one home (no I didn't). Views from the balcony were absolutely gorgeous over the city, the rainforest mountains to the left and to the right the ocean just visible over the tops of the Esplanade palms and trees. The orange full moon at 5am this morning as it was dipping down over the horizon to the west was amazing. Reception staff happy and very helpful, hotel is in an excellent location right with all the Esplanade shops, restaurants and takeaways on your doorstep. I had a 4G internet modem and picking up the 4G network with enough signal to pull 20mbs upload and 29mbps download. The room was one of the cheaper rooms in the hotel but had everything I could ask for including a decent size desk for workspace. Here for business and definitely coming back.
