Fabulous location! Amazing staff! Great rooms and beds etc and if you can get a sea facing room at short notice you know you are in good hands!

The location of the hotel is great, however is not quiet at all. Breakfast buffet was good. Also we had dinner there which had a great service, friendly staff, yummy and expensive. The rooms need to be renovated and cleaned! Bathroom and shower are not nice and pleasant. Useless Wi-Fi. During checkout they made mistake and deducted twice from my account!

Stayed at this hotel for two nights. The room was nice, modern and freshly renovated. The hotel staff was very nice, efficient and helpful. I was slightly disappointed to find out this hotel didn't have a gym but to be fair, I did not check before making my reservation. Besides, running on the path by the beach is probably better and I wouldn't have done it if there had been a gym!

Good location, friendly staff, nice and clean room, good value for money. We had a sea view room with balcony and experienced sun rise right from the bed.

Very nice for the price. My room starting to get a little bit long in the tooth but very comfortable and clean. Great location and beautiful pool. Smorgasborg Breakfast included which was awesome! Really enjoyed.

Location was a bit far from the main city, food is absolutely amazing atrhe restaurant and room service! Very high quality. People are friendly. Pool is nice but no shade. Overall a nice hotel.

Really enjoy staying here when in Cairns. The location is great, the beds are very comfortable and the breakfast is fantastic. The restaurant staff are really friendly and attentive. The service is great. Quietly looking out over the sea with a nice coffee at breakfast is a little Cairns treat.

Friendly relaxed atmosphere, just Australia. I like this. Premises in need of renovation. Unfortunately no Wi-Fi. Hourly shuttle service to the city (5 min. ). For an intermediate stay (was 2 nights here) well suited.

Great location, about a 20 minute walk from the Night Market and restaurants. 5 minutes away from both the airport and reef terminal. Room was quite nice along with other facilities.

Beautiful place with beautiful view. It was hot when we arrived as a mini cyclone had passed I guess. Be sure to get your mosquito repellent ready. Tropical areas are the best places to be in.

Our conference was seamless and room upgraded easily when our numbers were confirmed. Eatery is very classy and the bay views are just beautiful.

The rooms are nice & there are fantastic services available. Room service is great but slightly pricey, would've spent more if I got more so to speak. The overall reception is very welcoming & I'd be happy to stay again.

For the Price, it is a great place. My room is huge, separate bedroom from lounge and kitchen. 2 balconies. Nice pool and bar. Great water views. Just wish the mini bar was stocked. Ordered the all day breakfast room service… massive meal! The staff are very friendly. Will stay here again when I visit Cairns next time. Cheers!

This hotel has enjoyed very much. Had a very large room with balcony. Slept very well here. The location is very good that sea is just across the road. Here you can have a wonderful jog. Just above the road is the way to the sea. The staff is very nice. The pool is good, but from about 2 pm The sun is behind the hotel. Then sun is no longer possible. We have always walked to Cairns, but a bus from the hotel to the city is also available. Was free.

Very good hotel with beds that are very comfortable and the pool area is quite nice. The restaurant is reasonable in price but the food is tasty. Cost of a night is affordable for a family. We had a room with two double beds. The room itself had a balcony and was plenty roomy for a family of 4.

Stayed here for a reef visit. Reasonably standard Holiday Inn. Somewhat updated, but older property. Room was clean, quiet, nice amenities. Great price including ocean view. Only 15 mins gorgeous walk from downtown, and a free shuttle available to boot.

Pros : great bed, nice room, regular cleaning and bedding, friendly restaurant staff Cons: management not flexible, bathroom shower knobs were old and worn out, poor ventilation from toilet, a bit far from esplanade, repetition of same menu for breakfast. An example for not so flexible management was that they couldn't give me a microwave as I have a 15 month old who needs feeding at odd times. There was a gentleman named Ajay as the manager. The reason they gave me was that they are available only in suite rooms, well fair enough. There are plenty of hotels at close proximity to esplanade at competitive rates. Hotel breakfast menu was boringly repetitive. I stayed for 5 days and all the days they served the same menu. But very friendly staff though.

Nice Hotel good location with water views. Hotel has a nice pool restaurant and bar. Just beware of Billing errors overcharge. Not easy to rectify. Whilst staff are nice and friendly it seems compared to other Hotels not very efficient. Don't be surprised on check-in that one moment you room is then next minute it's not also ask for a late check-out don't be surprised that shortly the same person will call you and when your checking out. Also if ask to extend your stay if next again ask when your checking out very frustrating. Remember always check your bill they may just add a restaurant meal you didn't have.

Exceptionally comfortable beds and pillows. Nice clean room. Own balcony very roomy… Housekeeping forgot bathroom products and bin liners should be standard in a nice hotel room. Very happy with the service I will stay here again.

Rooms were a little old, but clean and tidy. The staff are great, friendly and professional. The hotels a short walk along the esplanade to town. Overall it was a nice spot for an overnight stop over.

The best reception staff at any hotel! Yes the rooms are slightly dated but what makes up for it is the exceptional reception staff and managers. They are all brilliant at their jobs going above and beyond to provide information and make sure all your needs are met. They even drive a shuttle bus to and from the city every hour and if its full they come back for you! Really exceptional service. It's a shame the staff service varies so much between different holiday inns as others in Australia do not compare anywhere near to the level of service you get here. Kindness, helpfulness and happiness — they all have it. Thank you for booking our reef tour and making us feel so welcome! You're all doing amazing work!

Located right on the esplanade with shuttle bus hourly to the city. Rooms had good hot showers and the most comfortable beds and pillows. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the staff great. I will go back again.

My sister celebrated her 21st here, the staff went out of their way to help create an incredible night. Rooms were also nice and breakfast tasted great.

Sea views but dated decor. Bathroom had grout mould and inadequate ventilation. Quite claustrophobic hallways with 80s carpet. No where near the restaurants but they do provide a bus to get to the town centre.

Holiday Inn is a great venue. I attened a course there and the staff are great. I also do social salsa there as the hotel lets us meet there once a month. Top place top people.

Ajay from the front desk went over and above to make us feel very comfortable. It was on multiple occasions that he took extra care of our comfort and went beyond our expectations. Over all the entire staff is very friendly, warm and professional. The property is right across the beach on the esplanade and its very neat and tidy. Buffet breakfast makes it so much easier when travelling with kids. I just wish they bring some variety to their breakfast menu, as it was the same menu every single day for the six days off our stay.

Staff are amazing. Really went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. The location is great so close to the esplanade. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The only down side is no PowerPoints next to the beds!?! We will be back though we've had a great time here.

I always have a great time here. Though admittedly being platinum really enhances the experience. Courteous staff who are pleased to help. Love it.

The hotel and the room where clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but caused a bit of confusion when they told us that breakfast is included, but then in the morning asked for money.

Located on a pedestrian or walking street with a view of misty mountains on one side and coral sea on another, We requested for an early check-in, it was approved, we request for a late check-out, it was approved also, even on a off season time, some hotel would not have approved it. The reception personnel were very helpful in advise on what to do in the city. Breakfast were good, will fresh fruits and juices, fried eggs and everything you would want for breakfast.

Great view if you're facing the sea, friendly staff, and a 20-25 minute walk from most of the boardwalk-type attractions in Cairns. Beautiful walking and jogging trails just out front, and the hourly shuttle stops right out front. The only negative is the extra charge for internet — which is becoming a bit anachronistic. Though it wasn't that expensive, the process of logging in and out in order to allow different family members or devices using the same purchased time is cumbersome and not user-friendly given the ubiquity of multiple Wi-Fi enabled devices within the same family these days. The staff will set you up with free internet downstairs in the lobby to help you research local things to do however.

A great location to stay with family. Kids loved the pool.

My husband and I stayed for three nights from 23/12. The service and attention was pleasurable and faultless. We will return again as we have before.

Arrived really late at night from Darwin, but received pleasant courteous service, which included an automatic upgrade to a king size room on the second floor, which had views of the mountains; a nice touch, as usually even high class hotels charge the Employer like a wounded bull and still put you up in a room down stairs facing the carpark or garbage compactors — but not at the Mercure. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Service was exceptional from all staff. Nothing was too difficult. The hotel is located a couple of kilometres north of the city centre but they run a free bus every hour so it wasn't an issue. Definitely recommend business travellers stay here :) Thanks Mercure.

Stayed a couple of nights last week with my son. We were in Cairns for a School sports event. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Service was exceptional from all staff. Nothing was too difficult. I was over charged on checkout and wasn't paying attention. When I noticed 5 days later, I rang, got put straight through to accounts and they fixed it up without any issue. Perfect. The hotel is located a couple of kilometres north of the city centre but they run a free bus every hour so it wasn't an issue. Definitely recommended.
