Always spotless and Sharah on the reception is so lovely and helpful.

Wonderful, professional staff in a truly iconic hotel coupled with beautiful views.

The ‘Howling Moon’ rooftop bar serves yummy food and cocktails and is new, the rooms have been renovated and the gym and pool were nice. Staff were friendly and accomodation was very affordable for what you receive.

The Rex has had a make over and now have a Roof Top Bar which is so good!
Good food and good prices!

Very happy with accomodation though perhaps some plates and cutlery would come in handy. Otherwise cannot fault the friendly staff always willing to help. Will definitely stay here again.

It is a very comfortable hotel, nice and with a family touch. The staff is always willing to collaborate with the guests.

The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom to die for. The staff are all lovely and obliging. Breakfast was divine and so much to choose from. The swimming pool was very clean and inviting. Would highly recommend staying there.

We really enjoyed our stayed at rex hotel, king suit rooms was really good for family, very cleaned and comfy beds, modern bathroom. We'll definitely go back again when we visit canberra.

Just got back from a 3 night stay and have to say what a fabulous hotel and time. We had. Close to absolutely everything. Staff were great and room was lovely. If I had to say anything it would be there was no where in the shower to put the soap/shampoos etc other than that perfect would definitely recommend and would stay there again.

Rooms are clean n new. Staff are polite n helpful. Complimentary breakfast is delicious.

WOW! … I mean the rooms are beautiful… We had the sauna suite and boy was it sweet… its not as pricey as you'd expect to be in a hotel of this quality.
Restaurant and bar levels are amazing… and the food and cocktails yummm
ONLY thing that makes me hesitant to give 5 stars is I booked the Imperial Suite 2 days before we arrived (which is an upgraded version to what we had in the end) only to be told on check in that the sauna hasn't been functioning for the past week and at time of reservation they believed it would be fixed. However they did NOT mention this on the phone when I specifically asked "is the sauna working as that is the whole reason we are choosing you" and I was told "yes it is. " LIE!
We were given the Spa suite which did not have a sauna in it so this made them frolick to find a clean and available sauna suite which in the end we had to downgrade even though there was a sauna suite in the category higher $100 more which they didn't want to give to us at the price we originally paid… and it was for 1 night only btw.

High standard rooms and restaurants. I always stay when visiting Canberra.

I had a late check in to the hotel. The staff at reception were very attentive and quickly sorted my room for me. The room was very clean and well presented. The bathroom had a good range of toiletries and towels. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. The breakfast in the morning was very good with a great selection if hot and cold, sweet and savoury. Checkout was painless. I will stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was well presented with a very comfortable bed. The staff and gym were fantastic, and breakfast was delicious. Will definitely be back.

Great central location. Large rooms with full amenities. Our stay included a decent buffet breakfast with hot food options, though we had to wait 15 minutes before we got a seat as the dining area is rather small/we came during a busy time of the morning! There is also a rooftop bar, however we didn't get a chance to visit. Free on site parking is also available. Staff are friendly and available 24/7.

Mostly this hotel is perfect. The staff are very prompt and mostly very courteous. There were only small imperfections really. The room had tea and coffee facilities but no spoon or anything to mix your sugar into your tea and coffee. I think we used a cotton bud that comes on a stem? Personally I use a lot of toiletries in the shower so I would like a longer stand in the shower to put everything on. The one provided was very small. Also one of the staff at the check in/out desk was a bit snobby towards us but everyone else was really lovely. Generally the service is very good and the rooms smell amazing. We stayed in the Spa room with King sized bed and balcony and we loved it. The included breakfast was delicious and staff were always kind and courteous at breakfast, even if I was bleary eyed. I'd definitely come again. I should also note that the facilities are very good — i. E. The swimming pool, gym and parking.

Check in was a breeze and the receptionist very helpful. The room was very nice. Went out for the afternoon and when we got back, circled through the carpark twice. No spots available. Asked at reception where hotel guests park and was told that we would have to park across the road in some dodgy open carpark. It seems the hotel has no dedicated parking available for guests and its a scramble between guests and people at the hotel for a drink. Then when we had walked back to the hotel and went to Level 6 for a drink, I stood at the bar like an idiot for what seemed an age whilst being studiously ignored by the bar staff who were too busy moving glasses to actually make eye contact and perhaps say "I'll be with you shortly". I was about to ask the security guy standing next to the bar if he could serve me when a girl rushed up from somewhere and served me. I get that bar staff can be busy but the lack of manners was breathtaking. In the morning, we went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. Except there wasn't any. The trays were empty, there were no plates, cutlery etc. Not sure what was going on, but people were standing about looking lost wondering when/if any food was to arrive. In short, for the money you pay to stay at the Rex, you can do a lot better.

Fit for purpose hotel on the main strip before the Canberra Central area. Tidy rooms, well presented, welcoming enough, and simple set up. Prepay room was required, but was a good value room with a spacious bathroom, and decent bed and relax area. Parking was not an easy task, and if the hotel is occupied to that level, this would be a detractor. Breakfast also couldn't handle the number of occupants, as we had to wait for some time to get a table. Location is good, with a small park down the road literally a stone's throw away, and some eateries and convenience stores around the corner. A shorter walk on is the city centre. Overall, not a bad spot if the rate is cheap enough.

A great Canberra icon. Rooms have been fully refurbished and are very modern and comfortable. Great food, service and hospitality. The people are awesome. The rooftop bar is sensational.

I had my event at Swan and King on level 5.
It was a fantastic night, the staff were so helpful and accommodating. Even though I didn't have exclusive use of the space they allowed me to add a few special touches to the area. The food was amazing. Special thanks to Bar Manager Chris, head chef Yorgos, Catherine, Kurt and the lovely young girl serving our canapes (didn't catch her name). A great night had by all.

Excellent venue for a night out. The refurbishment has been done very tastefully & their rooftop bar has some of the most stunning views. The only down side to the venue is parking (hence 4 stars) … one has to park far away on the street on a busy night.

Rooms were very small. Breakfast was free so that's nice. But I don't have a huge amount to complain about. Aside from the fact that room service cleaned out room, then proceeded to leave someone else's stale old coffee cup as a "new" cup. Went to front desk and they sorted it no questions asked.

Nice room and great service. The breakfast was included. The only thing I could fault was the bed size and the hard pillows. I got a room with 2 singles and the bed felt a lot smaller then a normal single size. Everything was clean and had everything you need which incl hair dryer, bathroom amenities.

Excellent venue for school formals or big birthdays! Their new rooftop garden bar is magical with a great view and above average service. The venue itself is very elegant and fancy for a more formal occasion.

Centrally located, short walk to Braddon pubs and restaurants. Nice hotel rooftop bars. Room was comfortable with basic amenities. Only downside was limited parking, however there was ample street parking. At time of writing, the construction of the Metro was disruptive to the flow of traffic around the hotel.

One of my favorite places to stay on a visit to Canberra, can pamper yourself in a luxurious spa, then dine in the fabulous restaurant and bar downstairs. Total relaxation!

We only stayed one night but had a great sleep and shower. Breakfast was included and there was a good selection to please most people.

I only stayed here for one night because The hotel looked nice once your inside. The room was spacious, had a kingsize bed and a big walk-in shower (which I really liked) with all the amenities one needs. The breakfast was great with a lot of options. All in all a great hotel to stay.

Location was very good, room was spacious and bed was comfy. The shower was very good. Free breakfast was good and employees were friendly.

Rooms are comfortable and modern. Very good shower and new well lit bathrooms. Staff are friendly. It's not the old Rex anymore. It measures up and worth the extra walk.

We had a recently refurbished room and could not fault it at all. It was quite luxurious and a complimentary full breakfast to boot. Staff had just the right amount of politeness. We got a fantastic price in early January as it was the holiday season. I would stay here again if I was able to get the same price again as the rack rate is a little out of my price range.

Breakfast is excellent, the rooms are good for the price, not too far from the cbd. It would be nice if they would start vaccuming a bit later in the morning.

Needed them to send back something I left behind when I checked out, asked me for my credit card details for postage and charges. Really need to be more customer friendly if they want to impress foreign visitors. No hotels in the rest of the world (I dare say hotels in LV USA, Japan, Korea, Thailand, HK) would not ask for charges and postage fee.

Off street parking was really good. Plenty of room. Our function area was very large and easily accomodated over 200 people. Beer was cold.

Nice facility, food, and service for events. Parking is scarce. Rooftop bar is also lots of fun.

I was there for a conference. Tidy, comfortable and high standard room and service. All Staff are very polite, professional and brilliant. The food was amazing including buffet breakfast. Definitely going back and highly recommended.

This grand old Canberra hotel has been fully renovated and the rooms are very spacious but I must question some design aspects.
1. All power sockets have a blue light that is active when something is plugged in so the room is flushed with a blue glow all the time. Is the hotel not aware that blue light is not conducive to sleep? 2. The Bathrooms seem to be backwards, with the hand basin at the opposite end of the room to the toilet.

Attended a professional conference at the Rex. The conference facilities are very good. The location is central within walking distance from the city. I didn't stay at the hotel overnight.

The hotel is quite new. Room is a bit small, but clean and tidy. Friendly service. Good breakfast.

How can I write a good review to a hotel that asks you to wait for your room to be prepared/made up and then forgets about you and leaves you waiting for half the afternoon? Most disappointed! Left and ignored… Till so tired asked how much longer only to discover that I was forgotten, not what I expect from a 4* hotel.

Great room loved the spa. The staff were really good. Very helpful.

The rooms were modern, spacious, comfortable and clean. Fully furnished with a kitchen and laundry appliances in the room.

Wonderful service our wedding anniversary is tomorrow we had dinner to celebrate at the restaurant in the motel we were treated to a beautiful surprise dessert on the house talk about service and being looked after absolutely the best Thank you great food and service your staff are wonderful.

Rooms were average for the price. Beds were very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. The best I've ever had. I will stsy here again.

Very nice hotel, with fresh and modern facilities. The only downside we had was listening to the alarms of the room next door for an hour every morning. The room also did not support any form of in room cooking, except coffee — forcing us to eat out for every meal. All in all, was a pleasant stay.

Pros: The king room was clean and well presented. Large flat screen tv, free Wi-Fi, modern bathroom, great water pressure in shower. Close to nearby restaurant's and shops. Reception staff are friendly and helpful. Cons: our room was a long way from lifts and entry, parking on the property was unavailable on one night of our stay and there was no close-by street parking. Windows are not sound proof and you can hear people talking in the street and cars passing even from level 3. There was a wait to get a table for breakfast and a longer wait for the buffet to be replenished when food ran out. No coffee or tea was available during our breakfast on day 2. Bar and breakfast service was poor.

Fantastic service. The staff and GM were very professional yet friendly. Great rooms fabulous breakfast and quiet rooms. The restaurant staff were attentive and nothing was a problem. The deposit was instant in coming back as I had read other comments that it was slow and some guests still waiting. I would definitely say that would be a credit card problem and not the hotel so I dont know why that is even mentioned. The rooms and whole hotel have been brand new refurbishment so everything was clean and the best bed and pillow I have ever had in a hotel… 10 out of 10

Lovely room with a very comfy bed and pillows. Great view over Canberra. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A fabulous breakfast to start the day. Would certainly recommend people to stay here and we would love to return soon.

Rooms were clean and comfortable apartment was fully furnished free internet was fast and unlimited and the gym was adequate for a basic workout.

Great visitors parking makes the Rex hotels pokestop extremely accessible!

I went to the Canberra Rex Hotel to watch a Gym Victus Fight Night event. The facilities were great. Big spacious area for the event. The food was very good and the staff ensured that the event flowed smoothly. I'd go to an event held at the Rex again.

It was a good venue for a conference. The food was nice. The only downside was that the video projector really needed the bulb replaced.

The function room was great. The projector was bright, and easy to read even from the back of the room. The AC was great, we weren't hot or cold and there was enough air to keep us alert.

Room was very comfortable with clean linen and bathroom. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, the location is perfect. Food at breakfast was fresh and there was a good variety to choose from. I would definitely stay at The Rex again.

Visited family staying in one of the apartments there. Nice clean rooms and spacious environment. Short walk to some of the best cafes and restaurants in Canberra. If I needed sunbathers to stay in Canberra, I'd stay here for sure.

Not enough spaces. Just a small room. Hard to find a parking space. Food are reasonable.

Lobby is nice but dont be deceived, bed was covered in hair between sheets TV was from the 1990's 54cm colourtube and bathroom a disgrace room cleanliness not up to standards at all dont stay here be warned.

Amazing. The hotel has been updated and we just artived shortly after renovating the rooms. They were clean and neat. Staff was more then just helpfull and breakfast (included) was fresh and had a good variety.

We have just returned from Canberra and spent 3 nights at the Rex Hotel, and before we left Adelaide we saw many very negative reviews of the Rex Hotel, and this concerned us very much, but we are here to tell everyone that we had a fantastic stay there, we had a lovely clean room and didn't want for a thing, if we asked for anything, we got it, and the room was serviced each day, and coffee and tea etc replenished, also toiletries too. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, especially Rachel who took the time to print out our boarding passed for us, a cheerful bubbly lovely young lady and also Selina who helped us with our luggage, and Selina don't forget "Lilliput Lane"cottages! she will understand this! Breakfast each morning was fantastic, and well cooked and lots of variety, a great hotel, great service and also we enjoyed Canberra very much especially Floriade which was main reason for going, so if we are in Canberra again we will certainly book into the Rex and also the bus stop is only a short walk from the hotel and so easy to get around from there. Thanks Rex Hotel.

Old and dated. Give it a miss.

Absolutely disgusted with the cleanliness of the room. The bath was filthy, had a black ring around the bottom, the sink was only held on by the taps. No hot water most of the time, when it did come on it was as if someone was turning another tap on and off. I dealt with all then went to go to bed and found the blanket and underside of the bedspread had some sort of dried clumpy brown matter in several places. As it was late at night and I was too tired to call room service I slept with just a sheet in the middle of a Canberra winter with an air conditioner that didnt work properly and was terribly noisy. I informed reception the next morning (as we were staying two nights). Room service left a note on our return to say they had bleached the bath but it was old and stained. Out of curiosity I used a tissue to rub at the stain and found it came away easily. When we went to the restaurant for the included buffet breakfast at 8.45am we were told it was full and to come back later which was impossible as we had appointments. I received no apology of any kind from reception and was treated quite abruptly. I emailed management on my return home and received no acknowledgement what so ever. This room cost $162.00 per night and I expected much more for my money. At the very least, clean linen.
